Richard Ashcroft, the frontman of 'The Verve', has told 5 Live that he can't accept Noel Gallagher's offer to work on an album together.
Speaking to Afternoon Edition's Sarah Brett, he said it would "be a sensational record", but added that he had "a deep respect and love for his brother and I think it'd upset Liam a lot."
He didn't, though, rule out working with Noel at some point further down the road, and he encouraged Liam to release his own solo album. Richard's latest album, These People, is released this week.

Your dream of a Britpop jukebox musical will come true if Richard Ashcroft has anything to do with it.
The Verve frontman wants to work with Oasis stars Noel and Liam Gallagher on a musical, and has already thought about its structure and story, as well as joking that he'd play himself.
"I'd like to do a musical of our songs combined, in a story of both our youths and the combination at the end, and the fact that we have both crossed paths, been mates, looked after each other," Ashcroft told Noisey.

Former Oasis wildman Liam got out of the wrong side of his bed this morning and Noel bore the brunt.
Liam Gallagher has had an eventful morning on Twitter paying tribute to rock pal Richard Ashcroft and calling big brother Noel a C-word.
Liam's Twitter was in meltdown on Brits night as he bemoaned the state of some of the acts (fair comment our kid).
He tweeted: "Music in the UK has been abducted by massive c**ks. The end. LG x."
He added: "Thank f*** I got out when I got out out. LG."
This morning he turned his attentions to Verve front man Richard Ashcroft who was presumably on the radio.
He then tweeted Verve lyrics like "I hope you understand, I've got a love that never dies" from their smash hit Lucky man.

Liam, who last week exploded into a tirade after watching the Brits, has been at it again – prompting baffled fans to wonder if he’s “doing a Kanye” in reference to rapper Kanye West who is known for his Twitter outpourings.
Last night he started off by tweeting about the Carl Frampton and Scott Quigg fight, describing Bury boxer Quigg as a “Rock n Roll star” in reference to one of the Manchester band’s famous songs.
Then this morning he turned his attention to The Verve front man Richard Ashcroft, quoting from their massive hit Lucky Man and tweeting: “Ashcroft gives power get up you bunch of lazy tarts.”
He followed this with “kill the squares”, “big up Dave Malik”, “pass me down the wine” and finally “Still a **** bruv.”

The Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft has suggested that he would be open to working with Noel Gallagher, telling NME in a new interview: "in the future who knows what might happen".
Ashcroft speaks to NME in an exclusive cover feature in this week's magazine (available now, free in the UK).
Ahead of releasing new album 'These People' on May 14, Ashcroft bemoaned the current state of the music industry, saying that he's "got no faith in it whatsoever".
He continued: "It’s sold itself up the river, stabbed people in the back instead of trying to create a good, solid British music alternative. Turn left for Cowell, turn right for this. The mainstream consumed our culture."
"You can get as many songwriters in a room as you want for your new talent show contest winner, it’s never gonna sound like a great Noel Gallagher song sung by Liam, it’s never gonna reach ‘Live Forever’, it’s never gonna be [Verve song] ‘Lucky Man’. We know that."
Last year, Noel Gallagher said he’d be interested in making an album with Ashcroft.
Asked whether he would work with Gallagher, Ashcroft replied: "It’s a great compliment for Noel to say something like that, and in the future who knows what might happen. I wish things like this would’ve happened years ago."
Ashcroft went on to speak of his fondness for his Britpop peers, saying: "Even the guys we had a bit of friction with, I look back and wish them luck. If I hear [Pulp frontman] Jarvis Cocker on the radio it gives me a good feeling. He’s waving a flag for culture from that time. We’re not stopping."

An Exhibition Of Classic British Record Covers From The 1990s Is To Open At Oasis Star Liam Gallagher's Clothes Store.
The collection of work by photographer Brian Cannon, encompassing the era dubbed 'Britpop', will go on display at a branch of Pretty Green in Manchester, England from Friday (16Oct15).
It will feature the iconic covers that adorned the first two Oasis albums, as well as other well-known rock artwork from the era, including Suede single So Young and the band's album Dog Man Star, Super Furry Animals' first album Fuzzy Logic, and 1977, the debut disc from Ash.
Other Oasis covers in the exhibition include those for their singles All Around the World, Stand By Me, Cigarettes & Alcohol, and Some Might Say, which featured Cannon's parents in the image.
Speaking at the launch, Cannon recalled working with Oasis as they were on the cusp of superstardom, telling the Manchester Evening News, "Nobody knew who they were back then but I think they genuinely did believe that they were something else, that they would be stratospherically big.
"Quality doesn't always guarantee success but they were just brilliant. They really were something else. I just felt it and I thought it would be a travesty if they didn't make it big...
"Don't believe everything you read about them. They were very enthusiastic and totally into it - not just the music but the artwork itself as well. I would have creative meetings with (guitarist) Noel (Gallagher), I'd give him some pointers and he'd come back with some ideas. I got him and he got me. Nothing ever got rejected or re-shot."
The exhibition, which will also feature other rarities including unseen photographs and several handwritten notes from The Verve rocker Richard Ashcroft, runs until the end of October (15).

Gallagher will be backed onstage by his current band the High Flying Birds, whose eponymous debut album was released to critical acclaim in 2011.
However the 45-year-old rocker is expected to relieve his ’90s heyday when he plays in Dubai. The gig’s promoters have seen a sample of Gallagher’s 90-minute set and are expecting ‘around 75 percent’ of the tunes to be drawn from Oasis’ back catalogue, the bulk of which was written exclusively by Gallagher.
‘This is going to be really special,’ a source said, ‘he’s not promoting an album or doing a tour this year, it’s just a one-off show of Oasis classics.’

Beady Eye were among several acts to appear at a recent fundraiser for the Red Cross Japanese Disaster Benefit at Brixton Academy. The evening raised £163,262.97.
During the evening many of the performers signed a Japanese flag which is set to go up for auction in aid of the Japanese Red Cross on May 16th. The winner of the auction will have their name written on the flag by the members of Beady Eye.

Beady Eye were among several acts to appear at a recent fundraiser for the Red Cross Japanese Disaster Benefit at Brixton Academy. The evening raised £163,262.97.
During the evening many of the performers signed a Japanese flag which is set to go up for auction in aid of the Japanese Red Cross on May 16th. The winner of the auction will have their name written on the flag by the members of Beady Eye.

Highlights from the gig will be broadcast on UK's Channel 4 (UK) tonight at midnight. The 50 minute programme will feature performances from each of the acts.
