Noel Still Excited At Being A Rock And Roll Star
The rocker has revealed he would have walked out on brother Liam at the same time original members Bonehead and Guigsy did in 1999 if he didn't have the responsibility of writing the majority of their hits.
Speaking before his Teenage Cancer Trust show on Monday night (26.03.07), Noel told Virgin radio: "If I wasn't a songwriter I'd have gone the same way as Bonehead and just quit and retired. But I can be sat at home and it is my passion for writing that drives me into the studio. Then if you put a record out you are obliged to go out and make more millions."
Noel insists he now has no intention of disbanding Oasis because he still loves being a rock star.
He added: "I just want to carry on doing it and to be happy doing it. There's nothing really I haven't achieved. As long as I can still get excited being a rock and roll star then I'll carry on doing it.

Versus Cancer @ M.E.N Arena Review
Last year Manchester Versus Cancer organiser Andy Rourke staged a partial reformation of The Smiths. This time he managed to get three Stone Roses on stage to perform I am The Resurrection.
Nothing short of the Bee Gees jamming with the Happy Mondays, Morrissey on backing vocals, while John Squire plays guitar, will be enough to beat this if Versus Cancer does return for a third time.
This, the second in the Versus Cancer concert series in aid of Christie hospital, was one of those nights when special things just kept on happening.
Things started well enough with the Scratch, a new band who won the chance to appear on stage via an XFM competition. They were followed by what was billed as a supergroup, former Oasis man Bonehead working alongside Mondays' percussionist Gaz Whelan in a band which started their set as The Electric Milk Band and ended it by announcing a name change to the Hippy Mafia. I hope we hear much more of them.
Then it was the first of some extra special occurrences, David McAlmont and Bernard Butler conspiring to turn a number of Smiths' standards into stadium numbers with help from Andy Rourke on bass.
'Magnificent'
McAlmont's androgynous vocal meant that Still Ill was magnificent, while Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody loved Me set sentiment soaring in to the roof space.
And if that was good, they were joined by sometimes Primal Scream collaborator Denise Johnson for the Phil Spector-esque sounds of one of their own.
Linking all of that to the sublime Echo and The Bunnymen were the comedians John Thomson, Frank Sidebottom and Johnny Vegas.
The Liverpudlians broke away from an incredible greatest hits medley to welcome Peter Hook on board for a script-aided rendition of the New Order classic Ceremony.
The Charlatans were on top form, Tim Burgess belting through a list of favourites before enlisting the help of a man called Paul Weller for A Town Called Malice.
The Northwich band, which has also has its brush with cancer, played Can't Get Out Of Bed with Weller on rhythm guitar.
Poignantly, lead singer Tim Burgess dedicated a song to veteran Mancunian music figure Tony Wilson, who is himself battling cancer at the moment.
Yet despite the worthy cause, the mood was light throughout.
If there had to be one disappointment, I'd like to have seen more of Paul Weller. Another sad fact was the appearance of some stars on stage smoking cigarettes. Strange thing to see at an anti-cancer concert.
He made a short appearance later with Noel Gallagher but didn't really do anywhere near enough to satisfy the crowd.
'Kung-fu Jimmy Savile'
But then the heroes were always going to be Mancunian and the first of the uber-Gods emerged in the guise of Ian Brown.
In truth, Ian Brown is a much better recording artist than he is a live singer. He looked a little bit like a kung-fu Jimmy Savile, pounding the stage in a black track suit top and sporting easily the longest side burns in local history.
Simon Cowell would have kicked him off the stage, but the crowd loved him. High points were F.E.A.R. and the finale, but more of that later.
Someone had to take top billing and it didn't seem to overly faze Noel Gallagher.
There was no Liam to spoil the mood, Noel suggesting that his silly sibling was "moving house".
His semi-acoustic numbers were nothing short of spine tingling, with Cast No Shadow a particular highpoint.
He was joined by his "friend" Paul Weller, who strummed away while Noel held court.
Then one local hero handed proceedings over to another with the words that we were looking forward to the "car crash" all-star jamboree.
He was right. It was the most shambolic moment in an otherwise hitch-free night. But to hear I Am The Resurrection like this was unmissable nevertheless.
Ian Brown returned to the stage again while Mani and Andy Rourke played bass guitar, with Roses' dancer Cressa moving incongruously between them like someone the bouncers had forgotten to throw back into the pit.
A bit more of that trademark Stone Roses' lead guitar would have been nice, but then there's always next year!

Manchester vs Cancer
31 Mar 07 - The cream of Manchester's musicians and more were on stage last night at the MEN Arena for the Manchester Versus Cancer gig.
As well as sets from Freebase, Echo and the Bunnymen and Noel Gallagher there were plenty of one-off collaborations, making it a unique event.
For the finale, former Stone Roses Mani and Ian Brown performed I Am The Resurrection, with some help from ex-Smith Andy Rourke and New Order's Peter Hook.
Paul Weller collaborated with Noel Gallagher on The Jam's The Butterfly Collector, and he joined The Charlatans on stage for a rendition of Town Called Malice. And McAlmont and Butler played with Rourke on the Smiths classics Still Ill and Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me.
Noel told 6 Music that Weller is never hard to persuade to get involved:
"The thing about Paul is that if you don't ask him, he'll say 'why didn't you ask me?' , and if you do ask him, he's like 'well go on then.'
"You know, I kind of get on and play with Paul - we enjoy each other's company."
Noel also explained what the whole event was in aid of: "It's for Christies hospital, which is where the cancer victims in Manchester are - and it's to raise money for that."
Charlatans keyboardist Tony Rodgers has recovered from cancer himself, and he told us that's one of the reasons they were involved:
"It's a subject very close to us as a band and me personally, and I think it's kind of our duty as well to raise awareness, to help, and to offer our services in any way we can."

Noel Gallagher has approached arranger and cellist Rosie Danvers to collaborate on 8 songs for a performance at the Royal Albert Hall in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust and Mancheser MEN for the Versus Cancer Gig.
The Oasis star will be performing with the Wired Strings 8 piece string section along with Liam and Gem. Paul Weller will also be performing.
The songs include little known B sides, such as Listen Up and Don't Go Away, plus a Smiths cover and of course, Wonder Wall and Don't Look Back in Anger.
They begin rehearsals this week at the Oasis studio, Wheeler End.

Daltry, " I Think It's Fantastic That Noel's Doing The Show On His Own With An Orchestra"
The Who will perform on Saturday, March 31st, at London's Royal Albert Hall for the for the last of the three Teenage Cancer Trust (TNC) benefit concerts. The charity shows, which are organized by frontman Roger Daltrey, are celebrating their seventh year at the Albert Hall.
Prior to the shows, Daltrey said that he was proud to have Oasis' Noel Gallagher perform acoustically with an orchestra for two of the shows: "My son was a huge fan, so I was exposed to all of their records. I think it's fantastic that Noel's doing the show on his own with an orchestra. I think it's a really good thing to do at the Albert Hall. It sold out -- I mean it crashed all the computers. The whole Teenage Cancer Trust Week sold out so fast, every ticket outlet computer crashed. So the whole thing is sold out. The whole thing has gone on. (I'm) very thankful for that."
The Who first performed at the first TNC benefit in 2000. In 2003 the Who released their Live At The Royal Albert Hall album, which featured tracks from their 2000 and 2002 TNC appearances.
Over the years the benefit has included performances by Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, Oasis, Madness and the Cure.
The Who, who wrapped up their U.S. on Monday in Florida, have a six-week break before kicking off their final European leg on May 16th in Lisbon, Portugal.
For the final dates of the band's U.S. shows, the Who dropped their latest mini-opera from their Endless Wire album, titled Wire And Glass. The band replaced the songs with '60s fan favorites "Substitute," "The Kids Are Alright," and "Naked Eye," all of which have been absent from the band's recent setlists.

Paul Weller Spits On Sting
The Modfather gobs on The Police star
Paul Weller spat on a portrait of Sting on Wednesday (March 28) at the Teenage Cancer Trust gig.
As previously reported Weller joined Noel Gallagher at the charity event for a version of The Jam's 'The Butterfly Collector' and The Beatles' 'All You Need Is Love'.
According to The Mirror, during the interval of the event at London's Royal Albert Hall Weller saw a picture of Sting's gig from 2000 and decided to deliver his own style of music criticism.
According to the report, Weller "marched straight up to it [the photo], coughed-up as much phlegm as he could muster and planted it plum in the middle of The Police frontman's head... as he walked away, Weller then snarled: 'Fucking twat!'".
Weller has never shy of expressing his opinions of Sting, recently stating: "He's a f**king horrible man. Not my cup of tea at all. Fucking rubbish. No edge, no attitude, no nothing."

X-clusive: Kasabian On Glastonbury And Bloc Party vs Oasis
On the eve of their gig at the Royal Albert Hall, one of a series of concerts in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust, Kasabian spoke exclusively to Xfm about Glastonbury, new material, and that Oasis vs Bloc Party feud.
The concerts were part of a week long series of gigs, taking place at the Royal Albert Hall to raise money and awareness for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Turning first to festival plans for the summer frontman Tom Meighan finally confirmed all those Glastonbury rumours and revealed they'll be playing on the Pyramid Stage,
"Yeah well I can't wait", Tom enthused, "That's gonna be monumental. Yeah Glastonbury is wonderful. Its good to be playing it. It's gonna be fantastic, they've got some amazing bands, Monkeys, Killers, its gonna be fantastic. Yeah, its gonna be really good."
And following the recent war of words between Bloc Party and Kasabian's bosom buddies Oasis (Liam Gallagher called Bloc Party a 'University Challenge' band, they retorted that Oasis are 'over-rated' and 'made stupidity hip'), Tom was uncharacteristically keeping his opinions tight to his chest, happy to let the Gallagher brothers handle this particular battle themselves.
"Silly innit?", He explained, "You know what i mean? It all gets a little bit out of hand. I'm learning to grow up, trying to grow up and not comment on this.
"Let them go to war on it", he continued, "I'm sure Liam will have something to say about them anyway, i know he will. Its all good fun. I'm not saying anything [laughs]. You wait, it will be a while. I'll think of something soon. Its all fun."
Turning next to plans for a third Kasabian album Tom divulged that it'll be a good few months until they start recording anything new,
"I reckon we're gonna be going into the studio after all the summer dies down, all the fesivals." Tom explained, "I reckon about October, November. We're just gonna go in there and try and make a better record than 'Empire', thats all we can do. As long as we're happy with it, that's the main thing."

Noel In A Pickle Over A Name
Oasis rocker Noel Gallagher may inflict a wacky celebrity name on his first child with long-term girlfriend Sara MacDonald.
He said: "Chutney is one I fancy, if it's a geezer. Gizmo Gallagher or Gilly Gallagher.
"If it's a girl, Sarah's already got the names picked out."
Speaking to Manchester radio station Xfm, he added: "But you know, suffice to say it's gonna be legendary."
We wouldn't expect anything less...

Noel" Can I Play Glasto Please"
This week will see Noel Gallagher play his biggest ever solo gigs as he takes to the stage at the Royal Albert Hall in London for two shows in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust.
With support coming from The View and The Coral, the dates sold out in seconds - not bad for someone who is supposed to be "taking time off".
Having begun his acoustic run last year playing a charity show at KOKO for pal Russell Brand, Noel ended up performing shows across the globe last winter supporting 'Stop The Clocks'.
However Oasis' leader has now asked us to help get him another gig - a slol slot at Glastonbury.
"Playing the acoustic stuff at the festivals, that would be good," admitted Noel, before making a direct appeal through NME to play the Somerset bash.
"Actually, Glastonbury Acoustic tent sounds nice! That would be good," he declared. "Yeah, do us a favour stick that in and Mr Eavis will give me a call!"
The guitarist did, however, joke that if his last-minute request is successful, he could find himself playing against all the bands he wants to check out this year.
"Saying that, he'd probably put me on at the same time as Arctic Monkeys," mused Noel. "The best slot is second on the bill on the other stage. I've never had that slot at Glastonbury, but we've done it at foreign festivals and it's great."

Brand Plans Stay With Gallagher
Russel Brand is set for a weekend break at the home of Liam Gallagher's mum up in Burnage.
But the Oasis frontman has made the promiscuous one promise to be on his very best behaviour.
The funny fella, 31, hosted the Teenage Cancer Trust Comedy Night at London's Royal Albert Hall, alongside comedian Noel Fielding, 33.
During randy Russel's solo stint on stage, he told how he had initislly been "terrified" when he'd first met Liam, 34, at last months Brit Awards, but was flattered to hear the Gallagher mum Peggy is a huge fan of his.
But things have developed since Russell became close pals with Liam's older brother Noel, 39.
An insider said: "Russell is good mates with Noel and said as soon as he gets the chance he'll go up to Peggy's house in Manchester for the weekend.
"But in a really sweet, protective way. Liam growled a bit and stressed he is over-protective when it comes to his mum.
"Like most sons, Liam made a point of how close he is to Irish Peggy and all his family."
"Russel loves parents and wants Peggy to give him a tour of where the Gallaghers grew up - and will give a exclusive performance for her and the Gallagher clan in return."

Noel: Bring Back The Noose
Rock superstar Noel Gallagher wants to run for Prime Minister – and bring back hanging.
The Oasis guitarist yesterday vowed to reinstate the death penalty if he were to get the keys to 10 Downing Street.
Noel, 39, said: “I might stand for election myself, to be honest.
“I’ve worked this out and I reckon I could sort out the country in a year-and-a-half.
“I’d definitely bring back hanging – that’s for starters.
“All these violent offenders – you get convicted three times by three separate juries then you’re going to the gallows.”
But he said that he would show some mercy.
He added: “If by any off-chance some evidence comes up that you might have been innocent and could prove it beyond reasonable doubt, then your next of kin gets £500,000. Vote for me.”
And he said he could succeed on public transport where Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott, 68, had failed miserably.
He said: “The streets would be a lot safer and I could sort public transport out – half a year, that would take.”
The Labour Party supporter said Gordon Brown, 56, would not get his vote.
Noel said: “The last three times I voted I believed. I believed in it.
“But I don’t believe in The Left or The Right or The Middle anymore because they all pretty much say the same thing.”
Noel also told Radio 1’s Newsbeat he was desperate for girlfriend Sara MacDonald, 31, to give birth a few weeks before the September due date.
“We are trying to hurry it up so it doesn’t come out the same star sign as Liam. One of them is enough in our family.”
Liam, 34, was born on September 21 under the sign of Virgo.

Reeves Challenged To Arm Wrestle By Gallagher
British comedian Vic Reeves was once left shocked when Liam Gallagher challenged him to an arm wrestle because the Oasis wildman thought he was posh.
Reeves and his comic partner Bob Mortimer were sat in a hotel at the time, when the Wonderwall singer approached.
He recalls, "Liam Gallagher had a go once.
I was sitting with Bob in a hotel after some awards ceremony - the Brits, I think. "Liam came over and said, 'You two are upper class. You've had everything laid on a plate. I'm working class and I've had to work to get where I am.' "Then he said we should arm wrestle to sort it out. I won."

Noel Gallagher "Caner Of The Year Will Be Staying With Me"
Bizarre’s Caner Of The Year Noel Gallagher has vowed that his 40th birthday bash will be “bigger and better” than Elton John's 60th.
The Oasis star turns 40 in May and is planning the mother of all parties to celebrate.
Noel invited me in to his dressing room after his triumphant Royal Albert Hall gig on Tuesday, and proved he’s in with a strong chance of winning my 2007 Caner gong.
The boozy singer had a huge grin as he partied with Kasabian's Serge Pizzorno, Modfather Paul Weller, Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie and Mani and Hollywood star Jude Law — there with son Rafferty — following the star-studded gig in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust.
Talking of Elt’s do at the weekend Noel told me: “F*** Elton John.
“My 40th birthday party is gonna be bigger and better than his — he hasn’t seen nothing. Mine’s gonna be the dog’s b*******!”
Despite impending fatherhood, Noel says he plans to carry on partying hard until the baby is born — just so he can win my Caner award again. He said: “I’m ’avin’ it — it’s mine.” Noel also revealed he WON’T be playing at Glastonbury this year — but plans to go there to party with new best pal Serge.
He said: “I’ll be ’avin it large with Serge in a caravan at Glastonbury.”
Noel partied with Serge, pregnant missus SARA MacDONALD and the Bizarre team until the early hours at various drinking dens including the Groucho club and the grungy Gerry’s bar.

Noel On Forthcoming Oasis Album And His Solo Gigs
Following two triumphant sets at the Royal Albert Hall for this year's Teenage Cancer Trust concerts, Noel Gallagher spoke with Xfm about the events and the forthcoming Oasis album.
The concerts on Monday and Tuesday opened a week of Teenage Cancer Trust gigs, and saw Noel - joined by Paul Weller – play covers of The Jam's 'The Butterfly Collector' and The Beatles' 'All You Need Is Love’ and ‘Strawberry Fields Forever’, during which Noel seemed to forget the words.
“No it wasn’t that, it was Gem”, he laughed, “Gem made an absolute howler on the guitar and I couldn’t contain the laughter. When we’re on tour with Oasis if he plays one wrong note he beats himself up about it for ages. But to do one last night when it’s kinda so prominent.
“I just found that really amusing, cos I know that he would’ve gone home and locked himself in a darkened room, going ‘Oh fuck’. That’s why I started laughing. And on that song! We weren’t even going to do it, and it was kinda like, ‘Oh go on then, so we’ll go on and do it’. We should’ve quit while we were ahead, but I don’t think it spoiled the evening.”
And going on to explain why he initially called the event organisers up himself and offered to play two nights in a row Noel told us,
“They came asking a couple of years ago and we were on the road and we couldn’t’ do it cos we were in Thailand or somewhere like that. And I said, ‘The next time we’re available, we’ll do it’. But of course Zak [Starkey – Oasis drummer] went off and played with The Who, so Roger [Daltry] didn’t think we were available. So I said, ‘Well look, I’ll do it’, and they were like, ‘What really? Oh wow! Oh, alright then’. So that’s how that came about. I don’t want anybody to think I sit by the phone going, ‘Roger, let us play the Albert Hall…”
Turning next to news from the Oasis camp Noel divulged that most of the new material for what will be their seventh studio album has already being written – though he has other things on his mind.
"Oasis land is very quiet at the moment, there’s not a great deal going on. But a lot of the preparation for the next record has already been done. Because we wrote 60 odd songs for the last one, and out of that we used obviously eleven of for ‘Don’t Believe The Truth’. Then a lot of them, listening back to them, weren’t very good really, but there were eleven that we thought were really good.
“And out of that eleven we thought seven were really good. Out of that seven, that’s now gone up to eight, so we now think eight’s really good.
“So that’s virtually an album recorded, so there won’t be a great deal of work to do once we start, but as my lovely missus is making a baby that kinda puts most of this year out I would’ve thought.

Could Bonehead Be Joining Noel On Stage In Manchester?
The Versus Cancer show on Friday takes place in Manchester this week. And is featuring Noel Gallagher (semi acoustic set), Paul Weller, Ian Brown, The Charlatans, Echo and the Bunnymen, Andy Rourke, Peter Hook, Mani, Steve White, Bernard Butler, David McAlmont, Denise Johnson and The Electric Milk Band, Andy Rourke, Peter Hook, from New Order, Mani of Primal Scream and the Stone Roses, Bernard Butler and David McAlmont, from McAlmont and Butler, Primal Scream vocalist Denise Johnson.
Also amazingly on the bill is former Oasis member Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs with his new band.
Arthurs left the band in 1999, during the recording of Oasis' fourth album, Standing on the Shoulder of Giants. In his official statement he claimed he wanted to spend more time with his family (his first son, Jude Arthurs - named after the Beatles' song Hey Jude - and was born August 12, 1997).
However, Noel Gallagher claims Arthurs left for after a drunken row with Noel regarding a drink and drugs ban set by the band during recording. Noel had intended to ease the recording process by keeping Liam sober, and to make it fair, he insisted the rest of the band do likewise.
Noel is also godfather to the Arthurs' first child, Lucy Arthurs and sometimes claims to have written Don't Go Away at Arthurs' request, for Arthurs' mother, Delia, who was dying of cancer at the time.
Could he be about to join Noel during his set or vice versa? With Don't Go Away being added to Noel's acoustic set now would be the perfect time.
Could we be saying them back on stage together for the first time in years?

Block Party's Okereke: 'Oasis Are Over-Rated'
Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke has branded rockers Oasis as "over-rated" and claims the band have "made stupidity hip".
The So Here We Are star has hit back at the Manchester group after Noel Gallagher made disparaging comments about Bloc Party earlier this year (07), comparing the band to geeky contestants on UK TV quiz show, University Challenge.
He says, "I think Oasis are the most over-rated and pernicious and of all time. They had a totally negative and dangerous impact upon the state of British music. "They have made stupidity hip.
They claim to be inspired by the Beatles but, and this saddens me, they have failed to grasp that the Beatles were about constant change and evolution."

Noel Gallagher Says His New Baby Is "What The World Has Been Waiting For"
The baby hasn't even been born yet, but Noel Gallagher already thinks his child is going to take over the world so "help you all!"
Noel says his new baby will be "gorgeous" and a "genius."
The Oasis guitarist is expecting his first child with long-term girlfriend Sara MacDonald, who he has been dating for seven years, and is convinced the tot will be the perfect mix of both of them.
He told Virgin Radio: "Another addition to the Gallagher family is what the world has been waiting for. I'm looking forward to seeing a direct cross between me and my Mrs. because she is gorgeous and I'm a genius - f**ing god help you all!"
On Monday night Noel dedicated a song to Sara at his Teenage Cancer Trust charity concert, which was broadcast by the British radio station. The Oasis guitarist spoke affectionately about the sexy brunette, who is four months pregnant, before introducing classic Oasis song "Slide Away."
He said: "I'd like to dedicate this next song to my lovely Mrs, Sara."
The couple's baby will be Sara's first child. Noel already has a seven-year-old daughter, Anais, with ex-wife Meg Matthews.

Oasis leader Noel Gallagher has asked NME to help get him another gig: a solo slot at Glastonbury.
The star, currently playing a host of solo shows, is so anxious to play the bash he has headlined twice with his band (in 1995 and 2004) that he's put in a request to organiser Michael Eavis via us.
"Playing the acoustic stuff at the festivals, that would be good," admitted Gallagher. "Actually, Glastonbury acoustic tent sounds nice! That would be good. Yeah, do us a favour stick that in and Mr Eavis will give me a call!"
Although the guitarist joked that if his last minute request is successful, he could end-up playing against all the bands he wants to check out this year.
"Saying that he'd probably put me on at the same time as Arctic Monkeys," mused Gallagher. "The best slot is second on the bill on the Other Stage. I've never had that slot at Glastonbury, but we've done it at foreign festivals and it's great."

Oasis are not a group noted for charitable works. They were one of the few acts who declined to play at Live 8 and, as Noel Gallagher explained to the audience on Monday night, when he asked his brother Liam if he would like to join him at the Albert Hall to perform on behalf of the Teenage Cancer Trust, the answer he got was “a sentence which included the words ‘f***’ and ‘charity’.”
Fortunately, Noel not only takes a more benevolent view, but had also persuaded Oasis colleague Gem Archer and percussionist Terry Kirkbride, to join him on an “unplugged-style” voyage around the more thoughtful regions of the Oasis repertoire.
With Archer alternating between electric guitar and keyboard, and Kirkbride stationed behind the suggestion of a drum kit, the 39-year-old Britpop icon sat centre stage, leaning over a Gibson acoustic guitar, and singing with an air of intense, almost pained concentration. He didn’t open his eyes until halfway through the second number, Talk Tonight, which, like all the others, was taken at a steady, mid-tempo stroll and graced with a tune that defied you not to sing along, if only in your head. By the time he followed it with Fade Away, much of the audience actually were singing along out loud, and as the show progressed, it was uncanny to observe how little Gallagher did to sell his songs, and yet how great was the corresponding effect. Armed with a remedial strumming technique, a handful of basic chords and a voice that only occasionally gets to take the lead when his brother is around, Gallagher commanded a degree of attention and affection that was out of all proportion to the apparent effort he put in to winning either.
With his craggy features magnified to huge proportions on the screen behind the stage, there was an unlikely sense of intimacy, despite the grand surroundings, as he navigated the soaring choruses of Cast No Shadow and Half the World Away and skated over the catchy falsetto vocal line of The Importance of Being Idle.
Paul Weller arrived in a slim, spiky swirl, raising the energy level just by walking on. With Gallagher in a supporting role, Weller knocked off a magnificent version of The Butterfly Collector followed by a good natured swing through the Beatles’ All You Need is Love. Gallagher was then joined by an eight-woman string section, and the furrowed brow returned for a string of romantic odes full of bittersweet masculine emotion including surprisingly moving versions of Wonderwall and Slide Away which he dedicated to “My lovely missus, Sara”.
The encores produced a plaintive reworking of the Smiths’ song There is a Light that Never Goes Out, a massively crowd-assisted Don’t Look Back in Anger and a rather dishevelled Strawberry Fields Forever, during which Gallagher burst out laughing – a fitting end to a show with do-good and feelgood factors both slotted firmly into place.

Noel Doesn't Want Baby To Have Same Star Sign As Liam
The fighting Gallagher brothers are at it again, and we can't say we're surprised. This time, it's Noel slagging off his younger brother Liam saying that he is going to pay to have his baby with Sara MacDonald born early just so that it doesn't have the same star sign as Liam.
This latest comment comes after Liam decided not to turn up at the Royal Albert Hall for the Teenage Cancer Trust gig in London last night. Noel told those in attendance “Unfortunately Liam isn’t here tonight."
When asked why Liam didn't show up, Noel didn't have much of a clue, stating:
“I don’t know why. I asked him and when he replied all I heard was fuck and charity in the same sentence.”
It looks like Liam won't be babysitting for brother Noel anytime in the forseeable future. Perhaps they should start looking for a suitable sitter or nanny; its never too early to run a background check nanny and start looking.
In other baby news, Noel spoke to a radio show last night and says he can't wait to see the new baby:
"I’m looking forward to seeing a direct cross between me and my missus because she is gorgeous and I’m a genius — God help ya.”
Noel Gallagher Dedicates Slide Away To Pregnant Girlfriend
Noel played a solo set for charity at the Royal Albert Hall last night
Noel Gallagher dedicated a song to his pregnant girlfriend at his Teenage Cancer Trust charity concert last night (26.03.07).
The Oasis guitarist spoke affectionately about long-term love Sara MacDonald, who is four months pregnant, before introducing classic song Slide Away.
He said: "I'd like to dedicate this next song to my lovely Mrs, Sara."
Earlier in the evening, Noel was joined by friend Paul Weller at the special acoustic show at London's famous Royal Albert Hall.
Noel - who has performed at the annual fundraising concert on a number of occasions - said: "So, as it's the Teenage Cancer Trust and as it's the Albert Hall, I'd like to introduce, somewhat predictably, Paul Weller."
The pair, accompanied by Oasis guitarist Gem Archer and percussionist Terry Kirkbride, then launched into a version of The Jam's Butterfly Collector, to the delight of the sell-out crowd, followed by a cover of The Beatles' classic All You Need Is Love.
Noel opened his show with a selection of Oasis B-sides, including (It's Good) To Be Free and Fade Away, which was included on the 1994 hit single Cigarettes and Alcohol.
The musician was joined for the second-half of the show by an all-female string orchestra. He then treated fans to a version of the rarely played Don't Go Away, taken from Oasis' third album Be Here Now.
Noel was in good spirits and joked with the crowd throughout the night.
Before playing Wonderwall, he responded to chants for his brother Liam, by saying: "Unfortunately Liam can't be here tonight. I did ask him to come down but the words f**k and charity followed in the same sentence."
He closed the show with a cover of The Smiths song There Is A Light That Never Goes Out, Don't Look Back in Anger and Married With Children.
As the crowd started to make their way out, Noel surprisingly strolled back on stage to cover The Beatles' Strawberry Fields.
Scottish rockers The View and Liverpool band Shack both provided support on the night.

Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher claims he loves Dundee rockers The View - even though he doesn't have a clue what they are on about.
Noel performed with Kyle Falconer and Co. at the Royal Albert Hall in London for the Teenage Cancer Trust and claims he loves their tunes.
He said: "I like them but I can't understand a word they say. My missus can do some interpreting for us later because she is Scottish. I love their singles."
Noel also praised the current state of British pop music.
He said: "The British Isles make the best pop music. What's cool is that great pop is being made with guitars, I guess Oasis opened the door for that."
The View returned the compliment by saying they were thrilled to share a stage with Oasis. Guitarist Peter Reilly said: "It was special because we look up to Oasis so much. They are probably the reason we're in a band, so it's a privilege."
Kyle added: "I told them I'm not doing anything unless we're supporting Oasis."

Noel Gallagher 'British Pop Music Is Best'
Oasis mainman Noel Gallagher has praised UK music, proclaiming the pop music on these shores as the best around.
The star was speaking around his two sold-out shows at the Royal Albert Hall in London for the Teenage Cancer Trust this week (March 26-27).
"I don't think pop music will ever go away, the British Isles make the best pop music," Gallagher told Virgin Radio. "What's cool is that great pop music is being made with guitars, I guess Oasis opened the door for that. There's some really great pop music being played coming out of the pages of NME like Klaxons and Hot Chip, not necessarily guitar music. I think its pretty good actually."
Gallagher added that he rated a host of bands around at the moment.
"Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, I love the Kings of Leon possibly nearly every band in Liverpool," he said of his current playlist. "Klaxons make great singles, Babyshambles maybe."
Gallagher also praised The View, who supported him at last night's gig (March 26), but admitted said he had trouble understanding what they were saying to him.
"I like them but I can't understand a word they are saying," he joked. "I'll bring my missus down later so she can do some interpreting for us because she is Scottish. I love their singles."
Gallagher plays his second Teenage Cancer Trust gig tonight (March 27) at London's Royal Albert Hall supported by The Coral.

Noel Gallagher Plays Biggest Ever Acoustic Show
Noel Gallagher played his biggest ever solo gig in London tonight (March 26).
Headlining the Royal Albert Hall for the first of this year's Teenage Cancer Trust shows, the Gibson Guitars sponsored night saw the Oasis leader mixing his own songs with a host of classic covers.
Kicking off his set accompanied by bandmate Gem Archer and percussionist Terry Kirkbride, who has played at previous solo shows, Gallagher opened the evening with a series of his acclaimed b-sides including 'Talk Tonight' and '(It's Good) To Be Free'.
He then introduced his star collaborator of night in typically comic style.
"So as it's the Teenage Cancer Trust and as it's the Albert Hall, I'd like to introduce - somewhat predictably - Paul Weller," proclaimed the guitarist as the Modfather linked up for an ecstatically received version of The JAM's 'Butterfly Collector' and a cover of The Beatles' 'All You Need Is Love'.
Gallagher was then joined by an all-female string section for the rest of the gig which include an outing for Oasis' third album.
"Every time we go on tour, on that bandwagon, people say 'why don't you play songs of 'Be Here Now''," explained Gallagher. "So this evening we're going to play a song off 'Be Here Now'. I don't think this has ever been played before, for obvious reasons."
The guitarist then performed 'Don't Go Away', before moving onto a rare live performance of 'Definitely Maybe' vinyl bonus track 'Sad Song'.
With the evening's special feel, many fans began calling for Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher before a stripped down version of 'Wonderwall', forcing his brother to explain his absence.
"I did ask Liam if he'd come down tonight," joked Gallagher, "but he used the worlds 'fuck' and 'charity' in the same sentence."
The Oasis boss then stunned the crowd with another cover as he introduced as his "favourite song ever".
Performing a beautiful version of The Smiths' 'There Is A Light That Never Goes Out', Gallagher - dressed in a brown blazer and back shirt - recalled the first time he had ever played the song acoustically, in Russia at the weekend (March 25).
"I did this in Moscow the other night, but I don't think The Smiths have sold any fucking records in Russia," he observed. "I got to the chorus and thought 'they're going to have it in a minute' - no."
Finishing up the night with a host of Oasis hits including 'Don't Look Back In Anger', with he dedicated to "the kids" benefiting from the Teenage Cancer Trust's work, Gallagher rounded off the evening covering The Beatles again, this time with 'Strawberry Fields'.

Noel's A Rock And Roll Tsar
When Noel Gallagher’s manager suggested he did a Red Square gig, I wouldn’t mind betting the boozing Manc thought he was in line for some free alcopops.
Luckily the Oasis star realised he was being offered the chance to do his first gig on Soviet soil.
On Friday night the Rock’n’Roll Tsar arrived in Moscow to play a sellout gig with bandmate Gem Archer.
The pair served up a storming acoustic set at Club B1 — before celebrating with a marathon drinking session that must have left Russian vodka reserves severely depleted.
One fan told me: “Noel was on top form all night. He looked like he was really enjoying being in Russia. The party afterwards was a typical Russian affair — lots and lots of vodka. There was some serious drinking going on.
“Noel deserved to get hammered, though. The gig was absolutely brilliant. The Russian audience knew every word to every song.”
I have to take my hat off to him — getting battered in the week where he needs to be on top form.
Tonight and tomorrow Noel headlines the Teenage Cancer Trust gigs at London’s Royal Albert Hall. And on Friday he’s at the Manchester v Cancer gig at the MEN Arena.
In Moscow former Manchester City star Georgi Kinkladze was in the crowd to see his old pal perform.
Noel called him “a true Blue legend” before inviting the silky midfield star backstage to join the party.

Patsy Talks To The Sun
Sprawled under a Union Flag duvet cover with her rock star husband and two failed marriages behind her, Patsy Kensit was an icon of Cool Britannia.
Yet that was a decade ago. Now things could scarcely be more different.
Today’s Patsy is no longer seen out partying. She is a dedicated mum and star of that very cosy institution Holby City.
The actress admits the transformation is deliberate, and coincided with her split from Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher — who was sharing that duvet.
She says: “I changed a lot of things about my life seven years ago. There’s so much harmony now.
“I knew I had to change things. I didn’t want to live like that any more. The drama happens at work now, not at home. My life is all about my kids.
She is coy about her new love but happily opens up about sons James, 14, by Simple Minds singer Jim Kerr, and Lennon, her seven-year-old by Liam.
The relations between the boys and their real fathers may seem complicated but Patsy describes it as harmonic.
She says: “Poor Lennon is covering all his bases when it comes to soccer.
“He likes Manchester City because of Liam, Spurs because of my father, Arsenal because of his brother and Celtic because Jim will give him £20 if he says he’s a Celtic fan.
“I get on really well with Liam and Nicole, who is lovely.
The kids appear to be suitably rock’n’roll. Both love music and acting, James “turns the air blue” at Arsenal matches and both are “unimpressed” by what their famous parents do.
But they are capable of being big softies when they’re around their mum.
Patsy says: “On Mother’s Day James — typical teenager — wasn’t out of bed and didn’t even buy me a card and I thought, ‘OK, that’s all right’.
“Lennon bought me some chocolates in bed and, of course, we had to eat them immediately because it was a present for me, but he wanted to scoff half of them!
She also wants her boys to go to university, something neither she nor their fathers ever did.
She says: “I want them to have their childhood. I don’t feel any resentment about what my parents did for me — but I want something different for my children. I’m grateful for what my parents did because it got me out of where I was but the idea of working at such a young age is very unhealthy to me.”
Far from being a rock chick, she is intensely serious about her work and has thrown herself into her new role as Holby nurse Faye Morton.
“This has been the best period of my life so I just hope it continues.”

Last Time I Went To Wembley I Didn't Play.. Oasis Did
Some Might Say David Bentley should be with the full England squad rather than making history with the Under-21s at the new Wembley.
But the Blackburn player will not Look Back In Anger as his only visit to the last Wembley brings back some Wonderwall memories.
"The only time I went to the old Wembley was for a concert to watch Oasis," he said. "It was a brilliant day out. I was right at the front, going for it and I looked back and there was just a swarm of 100,000 people who loved it.
"I got right to the front because my mate's dad is manager of Paul Weller and that was a great experience because I was 14 or 15.
"Funnily enough, I'm going to see Noel Gallagher next week doing an acoustic set in Manchester.
"But playing at the new Wembley in the first proper game there will be a dream come true for me and I hope I'll be going back a bit more often."
Bentley has been in terrific form this season and his performances have led to calls for him to be promoted to the senior England squad.

Smashing Hotel Rooms? What Visiting Stars Do In Korea
When British rock group Oasis visited, they encountered some young fans of the Korean boy band TVXQ in front of the group’s agency SM Entertainment in Apgujeong, Seoul. Some of them recognized the world famous group and followed them. Some 10 minutes later, Noel Gallagher asked them why they kept following and gave them his autograph to send them away.

The Versus Cancer Charity concert in Manchester is now sold out and Noel's shows later this month in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust at London’s Royal Albert Hall sold out in a matter of minutes when they went on sale in February. Fans who missed out now have a second chance to get tickets for both evenings of this special semi acoustic performance by participating in an on line auction for tickets held back from the original on sale. By visiting Seetickets.com you can bid for a pair of the 100 tickets available each night. The proceeds of the auction will go to the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Fans who missed out on tickets to Noel Gallagher's solo shows at the Royal Albert Hall in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust have been given a second chance.
Tickets for the semi-acoustic performances on the March 26 and 27 of March, with support provided by The View and The Coral respectively,

One hundred of the best seats for each night up for grabs, with all proceeds going to the charity.
