Gorillaz have topped a list of the year's most popular music acts in the UK - on MySpace.

The animated band has nearly 700,000 'friends' on the social networking site.

Damon Albarn's group is followed in popularity by metal band Bullet For My Valentine, who have just under 600,000 pals on the site.

Amy Winehouse is not far behind, with Coldplay coming in fourth place.

Lily Allen, known to be keen on blogging, is the next most popular, with just shy of half a million friends.

Maddona's Four Minutes was the most watched music video on MySpace this year, followed by The Verve's Love is Noise.

So that's that then. What a tour! Been to Vegas twice. Carried Ricky Hatton's belts out. Met David Beckham. Met Sly Stallone and that guy that says, "Let's get ready to rumble!" at the big fights. Seen a great Beatles tribute band. Got shit-faced with Ricky in 2 different countries. Watched Tall Scratch set a new world record for speed dj'ing. Hung out with a Sex Pistol and an ex-Smith. Met up with old Russ' in Vegas. Seen De La Hoya get his face smashed in. Got more shit-faced with Ricky. Witnessed an actual miracle in the Playboy Bunny Club. Gasped at the glory of the mountains out in the big country. Froze at least one of my bollocks off in the arctic wastelands in the middle of nowhere. Met up with our old hippy brothers, The Black Crowes. Dj'd at a couple of radio stations. Seen Neil Young and we smashed it at the Garden.

Bought a book on The Who and read a book by that Jack Kerouac. Listened to a lot of cosmic space music from the cosmic juke-box. And fell in love with one truly great, great album (seriously - buy that 'Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble' record. NOW! Do it NOW!)

Now then. Been lost in the city for the last few days. Lots to tell. Where do we start?

Neil Young was fuckin' awesome. Outrageous even. The last true living legend. 63 years of age and he fuckin' smashed it. He finished his set with not one single string left on his axe! NOT ONE!! Immense.

Snowing again here. Had a sore head yesterday. Proper drink the night before. At the Beatrice Inn. Nice gaff. Typical NYC bar though. Pitch black. Strange people. Very tall.

I met a guy. French he was. Comes up to me and sez in a perfect Inspector Clouseau accent, "Do you remember me? We met in Camden town 15 years ago. I asked you for a light and you punched me in the throat and said, 'Go and fuck yourself, you fuckin' tourist!!' You don't remember?"

My missus is in town. Done a bit of freewheelin' round the Village yesterday. Got serenaded with Stevie Wonder's "Just Enough For The City" by a homeless (pretty good version actually). Shopped a bit for various kids.

Met up with Cool Prophet and Tall Scratch. Few drinks in the hotel bar and bedways.

Just leaving town for Philadelphia. 2 more gigs and that's it.

Looking forward to getting home. City are in crisis. They need me.

Oasis Salutes Its Musical Influences

Liam and Noel Gallagher, the fitfully feuding brothers at the core of Oasis, have never been ones to camouflage their influences. The scruffy, working-class lads from an English industrial town set out to be their generation's Beatles, studding their lyrics with references to their ostensible forebears.

(If you've ever wondered what a "Wonderwall" might be, the name comes from a George Harrison album.) Their penchant for appropriation has landed them in court on more than one occasion, and even songs that aren't vulnerable to legal action stir up a sense of déjà vu. Is that "Cigarettes & Alcohol" or "Bang a Gong"? "Lyla" or "Dancing in the Streets"?

What distinguishes Oasis from any number of pastiche artists is the breadth of their sound: stacked guitars and earth-rattling drumbeats, topped by Liam's slurry rasp. Noel, the band's guitarist and primary songwriter, has taken plenty of flak for his lyrics, but the crowd at the Susquehanna Bank Center on Friday night bore out the wisdom of favoring sound over sense. Heaven only knows what "Slowly walking down the hall, faster than a cannonball" means, but it's great material for thousands of people to sing at the top of their lungs.

A good thing they did, too, since Liam made a practice of cutting short the elongated vowels that once turned "sunshine" into a three-syllable word. In a green army jacket and round sunglasses, he bobbed at the microphone like a hungry bird, snatching his head back between lines. Although he thanked the crowd for being "mega," he was almost diffident on stage, instead quelling the crowd's anticipation by introducing songs that quite literally needed no introduction.

The energy markedly went up when Liam stepped offstage and Noel took over vocal duties. The tension between the brothers was once the stuff of tabloid headlines, but these days matters have reached a comfortable equilibrium. Noel's voice is plainer but purer than his brother's and well suited to plaintive songs such as "Don't Look Back in Anger" and "The Masterplan." On "Falling Down" and "Waiting for the Rapture," both drawn from the band's seventh album, Dig Out Your Soul, Noel ventured into more aggressive vocal territory, encroaching ever so slightly on his younger brother's turf.

Strange as it was for the band's lead singer to quit the stage for large chunks of time, his absence gave the songs an extra charge. Better not tell Liam though; that's a good way to start a fight.

Demon seeds have always made the best rock stars. The Patriot Center's Saturday night double bill of Oasis and Ryan Adams was packed with bad actors and stunning musical moments.

Image was everything when Oasis broke out of Manchester, England, in the early 1990s. Singer Liam Gallagher's drunkenness and brawling with guitarist/brother Noel helped the band whup its less tabloid-friendly rivals, Blur, in the two-band battle for U.K. pop supremacy.

But Oasis hasn't stuck around this long because of its tabloid antics. Now it's about the songs, and Oasis rolled out a bevy of beauties for the packed Fairfax arena. The singalongs on oldies "Lyla" and "Don't Look Back in Anger" gave the venue a soccer-stadium feel. The melodic guitar wash of "Morning Glory" and "Champagne Supernova" still typify the Manchester sound.

Not that the boys are all grown up. Noel lamented that D.C. isn't the "murder capital of the world" as it was during his group's earliest visits to the area. And Liam, dressed like John Lennon in beat-up fatigues and sunglasses, was aloof and obnoxious, occasionally to a delightful degree.

Before the set-ending cover of Lennon's "I Am the Walrus," Liam told the crowd, "You've been great!" But before anybody could be fooled into thinking he's become a good guy, Liam added: "But not as great as us!"

Like many rockers before him, opener Ryan Adams wants to be Neil Young. Unlike the rest, he's got all the tools.

For 50 minutes, Adams stood in front of a cartoonishly oversize Fender amplifier reproduction (the same prop Young used on 1979's "Rust Never Sleeps" tour) and sang songs that were at once sad and beautiful and noisy as all get out -- much sadder, more beautiful and noisier live, in fact, than on record. For "I Taught Myself How to Grow Old," Adams, backed by the Cardinals, wore out his guitar strings and wailed in a Youngish falsetto.

Adams's addictions and oddball behavior get as much attention as his musical brilliance. On this night he was annoying whenever he wasn't singing or strumming, and he babbled nonsense and giggled like a stoned college kid between every song.
"This song is about my favorite dune buggy," he mumbled before his recent gem, "Natural Ghost," which isn't about a dune buggy. But then the music started, and, oh boy, the world was a better place.

New Guitar Hero World Tour DLC Announced

Activision has announced another month's worth of downloadable content for Guitar Hero World Tour which will be released weekly right through to the end of January 2009.

This latest batch of DLC includes an eclectic mix of tunes from the likes of country superstars Brooks and Dunn to Australia's own Silverchair, Wolfmother and The Vines. The biggest chunk of DLC comes in the form of the previously announced Oasis album "Dig Out Your Soul" which will be available for 1520 Microsoft Points (or $19 US) on January 29.

PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners will have the choice of buying individual songs for $2 US (160 Microsoft Points) or snagging the entire bundle for $5.50 US (440 Microsoft Points). Wii owners will be able to purchase individual tracks for 200 Wii Points each, but no bundles will be available on the Wii Shop Channel.

Versus Cancer Stages Christmas Party In Manchester

Versus Cancer, the charity set up by ex-Smiths bassist Andy Rourke, celebrated a successful year last night (December 18) with a hometown christmas party.

Held at Manchester’s Moho Live, the evening saw a blend of new and established talent, DJs and comedians all help raise money for the Christies Cancer Charity.

Headlining was Starsailor's James Walsh, who played an acoustic set.

The set mainly featured tracks from Starsailor's back catalogue, as well as two new songs from the band's forthcoming fourth album 'All The Plans' - the title track and 'Tell Me It's Not Over'.

Walsh also blended in songs by The Killers, Primal Scream and Gorillaz' 2005 Number One 'Dare' - which he dedicated to a Starsailor fan who died this year.

Walsh also played covers of John Lennon’s 'Jealous Guy', John Mellencamp's 'Wild Night' and Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah'.

Introducing the cover, Walsh told the crowd: "Apparently this ['Hallelujah'] is now a Christmas song and someleague one Leona Lewis has stole it from Jeff Buckley."

Cage Fighter 'Coolest Man Of Year'

A champion cage fighter has crushed rivals such as Daniel Craig, David Beckham and Lewis Hamilton to be named Coolest Man of the Year in a shock result.

Michael Bisping, an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighter, came out top in a poll of the 100 Coolest British Men of the Year by Zoo magazine.

Around 50,000 Zoo magazine readers and web users voted in the online survey. While he is not exactly a household name, Bisping, 29, from Clitheroe in Lancashire, won two huge bouts this year in Birmingham and has featured in the magazine.

Bisping is a former light heavyweight champion and has only been defeated once in his career. He said of his award: "I am totally shocked, but honoured to be voted the coolest man in the UK by Zoo readers."

Paddy Power bookie's favourite Hamilton finished just behind Bisping in second place. Last year's winner, Noel Gallagher, is still a favourite among young men as he finished third ahead of big screen action heroes Jason Statham, who came fourth, and Bond actor Craig, who was fifth.

This year's top 10 is filled by Britain's so-called hard men with undefeated world champion boxer Joe Calzaghe in sixth place, adventurer Bear Grylls seventh and Noel's younger brother, Liam Gallagher, at number eight.

At number nine, Liverpool's Steven Gerrard was deemed football's coolest bloke ahead of Arsenal's wonder kid Theo Walcott, Beckham and Wayne Rooney. England captain John Terry dropped 61 places from last year to 75. Harry Redknapp was voted Britain's coolest manager at number 44.

Editor of Zoo magazine Ben Todd said: "Although most people will be surprised at this year's winner, the result reveals the growing influence that UFC is having on young men in Britain - with the sport now seriously rivalling boxing in the popularity stakes.

"Intriguingly, the poll also suggests a resurgence in respect for hard men, perhaps due to the harsher economic times, and the death of the metrosexual with Bisping, Calzaghe and Bear Grylls all featuring in the Top 10."

Following the recent BBC prank calls row, Russell Brand was named Britain's coolest comedian at number 10, ahead of James Corden, Russell Howard and Ricky Gervais. Jonathan Ross, who was also involved in the furore after he and Brand made lewd calls to Andrew Sachs, was at number 57 in the poll.

"Whatever" is a single by British rock band Oasis, written by the band's lead guitarist Noel Gallagher. It was released 19 December 1994 as a stand-alone single bridging the gap between Oasis' debut album, Definitely Maybe, and their second album, (What's the Story) Morning Glory?. "Whatever" entered the UK Singles Chart at #3, their first single to enter the top 5, something every single released since, up to 2005's Let There Be Love, has also accomplished. The strings were played by the London Session Orchestra, arranged by Nick Ingham and Noel Gallagher.

The song joins the infectious pop-rock melodies of Definitely Maybe with the more sophisticated lyrics of (What's the Story) Morning Glory, preaching universal tolerance and the acceptance of all ideas and beliefs in a typically straightforward, Mancunian way. The first lines ("I'm free to be whatever I/Whatever I choose/And I'll sing the blues if I want") may have been Noel's reaction to his father's insistence that he join the building trade.

"Whatever" was released as a contender for the coveted position of Christmas #1, 1994
It is a testament to Noel Gallagher's all-conquering self confidence that he should predict "Whatever"'s success before he was even given a record contract, saying "In the beginning, there was a masterplan, to the extent that I knew that 'Whatever,' one of the first songs I ever wrote, would be a Christmas Top Five hit, but I think anyone who heard the song could have told you that."

When Oasis performed the song for Top of the Pops, they mimed and one of the cello players from the symphony was replaced by Bonehead, who clearly had no idea how his instrument is supposed to be played. Towards the end of the song, he gave up the pretense and started using the bow to conduct. A woman plays his rhythm guitar. The song was introduced by Damon Albarn of Blur who would later famously feud with Oasis. As Albarn introduced the song, the Gallagher brothers made hand gestures behind him, which only served to heighten the feud between the bands.

"Whatever" has been performed live by Oasis many times, sometimes with the ambitious symphony which accompanies the single version, sometimes without. They often end live versions of the song with lyrics adapted from the Beatles song "Octopus's Garden." They have also been known to add the lines "All the young blues....carry the news...", in reference to the Mott the Hoople song "All The Young Dudes". The "blues" are the fans of the Gallaghers' beloved Manchester City F.C.. At their famous performances at Knebworth in August 1996, the song was accompanied throughout by harmonica player Mark Feltham and is generally regarded by fans as one of the highlights of their set.

The B-Sides of "Whatever" were quite famous as well. One of them, "Slide Away" was already featured on their debut album, Definitely Maybe. The other two - "(It's Good) To Be Free" and "Half the World Away" - were later featured on The Masterplan, a collection of Oasis's best b-sides. "Slide Away" and "Half the World Away" would also be featured on Oasis' 2006 "best of" album Stop the Clocks, although "Whatever" itself was not included.

'Whatever' spent a total of 50 weeks in the UK Singles chart, more than any Oasis single to date. In 2007 Coronation Street's Charlie Stubbs was murdered while 'Whatever' played.

Stature can say a lot. At last night's Madison Square Garden Oasis gig, opener Ryan Adams, never known as the quiet, non-effacing type (what with all the tumblr dice he used to roll online) left the banter to his Cardinals guitarist Neal Cassal, positioned himself decidedly out of the spotlight (except of course when he was, literally, spotlit), and more or less put in a shift. A Cardinology-heavy set (with a nice version of "Fix It") elicited some "woo's" from the early-arrivals; a shambolic take on "Come Pick Me Up" prompted the lady in front of me to pole dance on her boyfriend in the Credit Suisse fleece. While their psych-country sound certainly reached the luxury suites of the Garden, the Cardinals seemed non-plussed by the venue: You'd hardly think anyone was watching them.

Oasis' Liam Gallagher, on the other hand, prowled the Garden stage as if he was about to take part in a title fight, occasionally breaking off from the stoic frontman bit to pantomime jerking off at someone up front who was offending his delicate Manchester sensibilities, or to acknowledge some members of the armed forces in attendance by asking if they were "gay boys."

Liam's barely-literate-git routine has always been an essential counterpoint to his incredibly effective voice. When someone so coarse beautifully elongates the syllables in "Wonderwall"'s "there are many things that I'd like to say to you, but I don't know howwwwwww," it sounds all the more longing when you know the source.

Last night, however, as a result of some Dylan-esque re-imagining of catalog, or perhaps a lifetime of cigarettes and alcohol, Liam sang in clipped, abbreviated measures. The Oasis frontman backed away from the microphone abruptly, seemingly to catch his breath--this, evidently, has been a problem lately.

The band seemed equally labored. The first half of the set relied on their recently released Dig Out Your Soul, offering a driving "The Shock of the Lightning." After asking the crowd if anyone had attended the previous night's Neil Young concert, Oasis launched into a Crazy Horse-esque version of Definitely Maybe favorite "Slide Away." This signaled the sing-a-long portion of the evening: an acoustic take on "Don't Look Back in Anger," in which the more in-form (vocally) Gallagher, Noel, hardly needed to sing at all, thanks to crowd participation; a rockier than usual "Wonderwall" and a snarling take on "Champagne Supernova," the reaction to which caused even Liam to stand back and appreciate.--Chris Ryan

And former Stone Roses singer Ian strikes a religious pose to go with the band’s famous lyric: “I am the resurrection and I am the light.”

It would be an epic understatement to say Blur and Oasis' relationship in the nineties was merely fractious, characterised as it was, by bitter chart rivalry and slanging matches in the press. Both bands took full advantage of the nation’s interest, playing up to their pantomime roles of middleclass southerners and working class northerners.

However recent comments by Blur bassist, Alex James seem to wholly contradict the band's past behaviour. Whilst on location filming in Manchester, James, a judge on T4's Orange unsignedAct, revealed his love for Mancunian bands.

Does this mean a reconciliation is in the air? Could we see the reformed Blur joined on stage by Oasis for a singalong when they play Hyde Park next year?

Disaster struck last night. The fuckin' bus broke down. 4 hours kip was all we got 'til we ground to a halt in the middle of nowhere. Pitch-black and snowing sideways. Me, Tall Scratch and The Shroud had to pile on Romeo Dread's bus. Nightmare. I can safely say, "I bet that's never happened to Bono".

Didn't sweat it though. We're on the way to NYC, baby, and Neil Young's playing tonight. Can't wait. I fuckin' love that cat (and I'll tell him as much if we get to speak to him later).

Still snowing. Must be nearly x.mas, eh?

The star has already written his band's next album, but admits he is considering doing something a little different before it is released.

He said: "The album's already done and demoed, so I'm going to take a bit of time off after we've finished the Dig Out Your Soul tour.

"I might do something for myself, maybe."

Cheeky Liam Fray wants to attend a Blur reunion show wearing an Oasis T-shirt.

The Courteeners frontman is a life-long supporter of his fellow Manc rock outfit.

Liam, 23, told me: “We might go down to the Blur Hyde Park gigs next year in our old Oasis T-shirts.

“In the mid-nineties you couldn’t even mention Blur’s name out loud in Manchester.

“My sister used to like them but I never listened to them because I was Oasis through and through. Later on I saw them live at the Leeds festival in 2003, but Graham Coxon wasn’t there then so this time it’s different.”

Unlike some seemingly all-about-the-money comebacks, Liam feels Blur are back for the right reasons.

He added: “Everyone’s reforming these days so it was only a matter of time but I think it’s a good thing.

“It’s not like they’re doing it for any other reason than for the love of it.

“They don’t need to. Damon has got Gorillaz, Graham has his solo career and Alex has his cheese.”

A Pickering man accused of attacking Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher at the Virgin Festival back in September is now the subject of an arrest warrant, after he failed to show up at a scheduled court appearance Tuesday.

Daniel Sullivan, 47, was charged with assault following the onstage brouhaha that saw Gallagher being shoved into a monitor during the band's festival-closing performance on Toronto's Olympic Island.

The attack occurred as the British rock band took the stage and began performing their hit song Morning Glory. Sullivan allegedly jumped through the barriers and onto the stage, tackling Gallagher mid-tune. Noel's brother Liam threw a punch at the attacker as security moved in and took the man into custody.

The guitarist suffered a broken rib and ligament damage in his fall, but the band gamely finished their set. They were forced to postpone the final Canadian date in their concert tour, however.

It's still not clear what motivated the attack.

Footage of the incident was caught on a cell phone camera and posted on YouTube.

Olympic Studios face the financial crisis.

A London recording studio, which has seen The Rolling Stones, Oasis, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix through its doors, may close because of money problems.

The staff at the 42 year-old Olympic Studiosin Barnes - where U2 are currently recording - have been told by owners EMI that they may have to shut down as they aren't making enough money, reports The Evening Standard.

"The fact is the studios are not profitable, like many British studios," the paper reported a source as saying. "You can't get as much business as you used to in the past. And there's no sign of that situation improving."

Both Jimi Hendrix's 'Are You Experienced?' album and Eric Clapton's 'Wonderful Tonight' single were recorded at the studios - and The Rolling Stones worked on tracks for seven albums there.

Got that organ. Very fuckin' cool. Had to go to the guy's house to get it. Don't think I've ever been to an American's actual house. Can't remember being anyway. They do like a flashing, garden-bound x.mas decoration over here, don't they? They love the old Stars'n'Stripes too, eh? Every fuckin' house has got one on the porch (just in case one forgets where one is)!

Watched a couple of great documentaries about a couple of unsavoury American characters of the late 60s, early 70s. 1st one was about Jim Jones and the People's Temple (Google him, I can't be arsed explaining who he was).

The other one was about Charles Manson - whose bullshit, hippy rhetoric about revolution, free love and sex orgies reminds me (funnily enough) of my mate Russell Brand!

Great films though.

Talking of greatness, if you're wondering what to ask Santa for x.mas, ask him for an album called "A Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble Exploding In Your Mind (Vol 1. Space Rock)". It's a compilation album by someone called "The Amorphous Androgynous" (I'd hazard a guess that's a made-up name). I've had it on in the dressing room for a month now. It's one of the best things I've ever, ever heard. Go and find it NOW! It'll blow your tiny little minds.

LONDON, Ontario - Just in case there were any lingering doubts, Oasis still knows how to make an entrance -- and an exit.

The Gallagher brothers -- singer Liam and chief songwriter and guitarist Noel -- and their Oasis mates had both for 7,200 fans last night at the John Labatt Centre.

"This is definitely the last song -- you've been amazing," shouted Liam Gallagher who had been in full cheerful sneer most of the night. "Have a good Christmas . . . I am the Walrus," he said to complete the introduction to the magnificent finale of an extended encore.

A blazing revisit to the Beatles' classic had the fans ooing and wooing along with the chorus, completing a finale including two singalongs led by Noel (The Fans' Choice) Gallagher and a terrific Champagne Supernova with Liam back at centre stage and his brother soloing with power.

That was the exit.

The entrance by Oasis wasn't half-bad either.

Rock N Roll Star, as in "Tonight, I'm a rock n roll star," was the first song. That followed a crazed voice over the sound system saying "this is not a drill" and a huge blast of lights setting the stage for images of band and visuals on the video screens. Not bad as these things go was black-coat-clad Liam arriving at centre stage in full sneer.

I'm a rock star to I am the Walrus proved to be a journey worth waiting for.

That first insolent stroll -- and the cheers for Noel Gallagher's first solo of the night a few minutes later -- meant the years it took for the 1990s' powerhouse British rockers to play London were over.

The show was originally set for early September. But an on-stage attack on Noel Gallagher at a Toronto concert put the Oasis rocker in hospital with broken ribs and other injuries. The London date was postponed until last night. A Toronto area man was charged after the attack.

In a touching display of brotherly love between the oft-feuding Gallaghers, Liam attempted to come to Noel's aid -- even if Noel later derided his brother's attempt.

The brothers and Gem Archer and Andy Bell, who both joined in 1999, are touring to support the Manchester band's latest album Dig Out Your Soul (Warner). A touring drummer and keyboard player were in last night's lineup.

Dig Out Your Soul provided songs such as Ain't Got Nothin', Waiting for the Rapture and I'm Outta Time -- which had a lovely fadeout -- to the main set. The new album's Falling Down was there for the encore with Noel Gallagher singing.

The biggest hits were the Oasis trademarks including Morning Glory, Wonderwall and Supersonic. It didn't appear that the Manchester mates were doing anything special around the mid-set (What's the Story) Morning Glory? Oasis was playing the 1995 hit when Noel Gallagher was attacked and shoved into on-stage monitors.

The Gallagher brothers do bring something special to the art of talking on stage.

"Thank you very much. Good evening, London. How is everybody," asked Noel Gallagher early, breaking the Oasis code of silence sweetly.

Liam was characteristically unsweet. "How are (we) doing? We're all all right," he answered his brother.

"You're one of the . . . ugly lady birds," he said pointing to somebody in the audience.

Near the end, he sweetened up too. "This one's for you . . . because you're the one that's happy," he said, pointing somewhere else, to introduce Champagne Supernova. Liam even gently lobbed the tambourine he uses as a security blanket to a fan late in the show.

So that was Oasis -- still masters of the sweet and sour stage manner and with a songbook that rocks on and on.

Matt Costa opened. Second on the bill was Ryan Adams and the Cardinals, who used songs from their just-out Cardinology (Universal) in the early going. Last night, the effect of all the excellent noise from the Cardinals -- guitarist Neal Casal, drummer Brad Pemberton, pedal steel player Jon Graboff and bassist Chris Feinstein -- was mesmerizing. Adams is Adams, a Leonard Cohen for our time with a faster, wilder version of Tom Petty's band to keep him on track. Cardinology's Magick was the driving finale to their 50-minute set. But then the entire night was magical.

Fans who have waited more than a dozen years for Oasis to land in London will finally get their wish.

Battered but determined, Oasis plays JLC Monday night.

Oasis will be delving deeply into the Dig Out Your Soul songbook when the British rock band makes its long-awaited London debut at the John Labatt Centre on Monday.
Oasis bassist Andy Bell said fans are likely to hear seven or eight "Soul" songs from the band's 2008 album in the set list.

Among the candidates are I'm Outta Time (the new single), Waiting for the Rapture, Falling Down and I Ain't Got Nothing.

"There's a fair number of the songs," Bell said in a recent interview from Britain.
Monday's date was set after the band's Noel Gallagher was attacked onstage at a Toronto outdoor concert. A Sept. 9 date at the downtown London arena was postponed. Fans who had waited more than a dozen years for Oasis to land in London have had to wait three more months as the rocker recovered and the tour was rescheduled.

In the past, spectacular blowups involving Gallagher, the band's chief songwriter, and his brother Liam, its singer, have derailed several public appearances and tours. Noel quit the band following an onstage row in 1994, Liam backed out of a U.S. tour in 1996, and Noel walked out on a European tour in 2000.

"Every time," Bell said patiently when asked if he is questioned about those Oasis-plosions.

He was still feeling the shock of the Toronto attack during The Free Press interview.

"Who is going to get it?" Bell recalled thinking about what might happen next.
That concern has ebbed, fortunately, as Oasis has returned to the road with U.S. rocker Ryan Adams.

But Bell can now expect to hear years of questions about the attack because he was a witness to a moment of rock infamy that was seen around the world on YouTube.

Gallagher told his bandmates, "I'm going on," after Oasis had halted its set and left the stage as the attacker was taken away. Bell said he and guitarist Gem Archer had been saying they both thought the concert was finished.

Oasis returned to the stage to play a few more songs at the Toronto concert before Gallagher began to look over at his bandmates. "He was starting to hurt," Bell said. The band stopped its concert and Gallagher was taken to hospital.
"I don't think Noel knew what was going on," said Bell as Gallagher was in shock for those first minutes.

Gallagher's own recollections suggest he was in shock.

"I remember being hit really hard, I didn't see him come onstage or get led off, I just got hit," Gallagher told an Australian newspaper.

After realizing no knives were involved in the attack, Gallagher shunned medical advice to go directly to hospital and continued playing after a short break.

"I had an almighty pain in my side. I was being silly. It got to the point where I went 'F--- it, I can't do this' and got taken straight to hospital."

The assailant, Daniel Sullivan, 47, was charged with assault. Gallagher refused to comment specifically on the incident with charges pending, but took his own shots.
"He's 47 and got three children, if you can believe that," Gallagher said. "He's obviously gone through a midlife crisis. I wouldn't get in and analyze it too deeply, that's for a lawyer to do.

I don't know why people do things like that."

Other comments suggest Gallagher's trademark way with a quotation is already fully recovered.

"We've got enough security guards as it is," Gallagher said. "If they had been doing their f---ing job properly instead of playing air guitar, I'd be alright."

Oasis landed on the radar of music listeners in 1994 after being signed to Britain's Creation Records. The Manchester band featured the Gallaghers. Bell and Archer arrived in 1999.

Definitely Maybe entered the British charts at No. 1 and became the fastest-selling debut in British history. Songs like Supersonic, Shakermaker and Live Forever would go on to help define the sound of the mid-1990s on both sides of the Atlantic.

Bell said Oasis thanks the many fans who have sent wishes for Gallagher's recovery.

It seems like I'm saying this a lot recently, but - fuck me - there's nothing going on at the minute. NOTHING.

Played Detroit last night. Got a day off today (in Detroit). It's a Sunday. Utterly soul-destroyingly dull. So dull in fact that I actually bought something off that ebay last night. A vintage Gibson organ. Very fuckin' cool. Gotta go and pick it up today at some fella's house. Thinking on..that should be quite exciting! Going to a real American person's actual house? Well, there's fuck-all else to do.

I'm currently watching some of that American Football. The New York Jets-V-The Buffalo Bills, in fact. I like it. I'm one of the few Mancunians who actually understand it. It's a very simple game made extremely complicated by mathematics. For example, it's currently 14-3 to the Jets. It's 14.26 in the 2nd. The Jets have the ball on the 22 and it's 3rd down and 8. Erm..sorry?
