Liam Gallagher ‘N Lily Allen In 11hr Jet Bender

Liam Gallagher and Lily Allen stunned passengers on an 11-hour flight to Japan with a riotous booze bender, The Sun can reveal.

The Oasis frontman and singer Lily were repeatedly told to "calm down" by crew members as they swore and shouted.

Liam, 37, and Lily were in Upper Class of the Virgin Atlantic flight to Japan, where they starred at the Fuji Rocks festival.

Liam had swaggered on to last Wednesday's flight to Tokyo after swilling champagne in Heathrow's Upper Class lounge.

He and Lily, 24, started their marathon drinking session as the plane took off - and continued for hours after the flight landed.

A flight source told The Sun: "They did not care about the other passengers. They were in a world of their own.

"They were already well-oiled by the time they came on board. There is obviously a different set of rules for celebrities."

Liam and Lily's entourages - who made up about half the 30 passengers in Upper Class - had told cabin crew as they boarded to "keep those two apart".

Dad-of-two Liam - married to former All Saints star Nicole Appleton, 34 - wrote on his Twitter website: "Just landed in Tokyo. That flight flew by."

Lily posted of her experience: "at Lost in Translation hotel in tokyo. Had an extraordinary amount of fun the past few days."

When The Sun approached Lily at her home in Maida Vale, West London, she said: "I don't know what you are talking about."

Oasis Fans Still Waiting For Refunds

Back in June Manchester's heroes Oasis stopped by at Heaton Park to play 3 home coming concerts.

The 70'000 boozy fans in attendance for the first of the three nights saw the plug pulled on their Brit Rock darling's sound system after only one and a half songs.

Apparently a generator which juiced the massive sound system had exploded in a plume of black smoke back stage.

A visibly agitated Liam Gallagher showed up after over half an hour of down time and declared that the show was free now and vowed that fans would get their money back. Although the fault was rectified, and the band went on to perform an impressive set, approx 20'000 fans as it turned out took the bands offer.

A refund form and statement appeared on the official band site of Oasis which promised ticket holders who sent their valid ticket stub back their full ticket price refunded.

This week this official deadline will have come and gone and many fans are flooding fan sites and forums such as StopCryingYourHeartOut and *The Oasis Newsroom (*published by Live4ever) with the question "Where is my refund?"

Although most fans have received their "Bank of Burnage Cheques" (pictured above) it seems as though many have given up on any hope in receiving their cash back. It's a hot topic on the message boards as many supporters don't believe fans in attendance should have asked for their money back in the first place as the show went on and everyone there seemed to enjoy the sights and sounds of Manchester's finest.

Liam Gallagher To Hook Up With Supergroup Freebass

Two years ago, we told you all about Freebass, the new three-bassist supergroup led by combative former New Order/Joy Division member Peter Hook. The group, which also features former Smiths low-end master Andy Rourke and current Primal Scream/former Stone Roses four-string thumper Mani, hasn't exactly been enormously prolific since its formation, partly because all three bassists still have other things going on. But in the past week or so, the Freebass MySpace page has crackled back to life, with Hook posting a new song and a few updates on the band's debut album, which is now apparently being mixed.

The new song is a "rejected demo" for a long instrumental track called "Sugar Daddy", which sounds a lot like a vocal-free New Order. At least one of the bassists on the track plays something that sounds extraordinarily similar to a Bernard Sumner guitar line, which is pretty weird considering the acrimonious relationship that Hook and Sumner have had over the past few years. In any case, it's good to hear that unmistakable Peter Hook burble back at work; it's been a minute.

The MySpace page is also streaming "The Tower", a Freebass song that's now a few years old, which appeared as the theme song for the Channel 4 radio show "The Tube".

In the MySpace page's three blog updates, all posted since July 21, Hook dishes on the mixing process, and offers a tracklist for the forthcoming album. To hear Hook tell it, he'll sing two songs on the album. Charlatans UK singer Tim Burgess will also appear, as will Wah! leader Pete Wylie and notorious British outlaw writer Howard Marks. The rest of the vocals are handled by Gary Briggs, formerly of the band Haven.

Freebass' MySpace bio also notes that they've worked with vocalists like Liam Gallagher, Billy Corgan, Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie, and the Stone Roses' Ian Brown, but Hooky's tracklist doesn't mention any of those guys.

Hook's MySpace posts include at least one obligatory dig against Bad Lieutenant, the new band that includes pretty much everyone from New Order not named Peter Hook: "JUSTIN RICHARDS is the engineer, who has just been working on the Bad Lieutenant session how weird is that! He has recovered now tho........." Also, Hook claims that Freebass will book some shows in late October "just to beat the competition." Fightin' words!

There are also some studio photos on the page, but those are really only interesting if you want to look at middle-aged dudes looking at computers. Not judging, just saying.

Tales From The Middle Of Nowhere

Phew. Just back from that whistle stop tour of the far east. Japan, South Korea and Hong Kong. 5 days. 2 gigs. Lots of noodles and a million air miles. My phone didn't work out there and I wasn't keeping notes so you'll have to do with what I can remember, which doesn't bode well. Here goes.

At Heathrow, on the way out, I bumped into that Jenson Button. He's a racing car driver. A famous one. Pretty good too, by all accounts. And I seen that Stephen Fry. He's famous for knowing pretty much everything.

Got hassled by a man (I think it was a man!) in a kilt. Who wasn't famous or Scottish, just annoying. The flight was mobbed. Watched that film about that heavy metal band "Anvil". Fuckin' funny. Metal is though, innit?

Was met at the airport by that girl who invented the "Noel Or Die" sign. Only now she's made t-shirts. With me as a Simpsons character who looks more like Tom Hanks!! Do I look like Tom Hanks?

Tokyo was hot, damp and humid. Tried to stay awake by shopping my bollocks off. It was a minor success. Had some noodles - real ones - and went to bed. So far, so good. Had a great kip. Unbelievable. 10 hours! A personal best.

Man City was on the BBC World News for meeting that Nelson Mandela!!! MAN CITY!! No one gave a monkey's 'bout Man City 6 months ago, now we're on the news meeting world leaders! Now that is mental.

Still hot and humid, only now it's raining, and I mean raining. Monsoon gear. Biblical.

Missed the train to the gig. No panic. They literally run every 3 minutes. Got to that Fuji Rock just in time to see my old mate and soul brother #1, Paul Weller. Hadn't seen him play since May. He was well psychedelic. It pissed down all the way through his set. Good though.

Had to drive back to Tokyo after. 3 c**ting hours. Grim as fuck. Still raining. Hard, boiling hot rain.

Didn't get any kip that night. Not a single second. Flew to Seoul the next day. Feeling slightly mental. I thought I was losing my eyesight at one point. Totally fucked.

Can't remember much after that. Apart from 2 things. I seen an advert for a play called "Breakout". It was billed as an "Extreme dance comedy"!? EXTREME DANCE COMEDY? What on God's green earth is that gonna be like? And what's extreme about it? The dance or the comedy? Ludicrous dance comedy, more like. Not only that, I seen an Italian restaurant - in Seoul - called "Mad For Garlic"!! MAD FOR GARLIC?!!! And it was fuckin' packed.

The gig was immense. They really do know how to do that synchronised hand clapping shit in Korea. Spectacular. Jet - the band - were on before us. Hadn't seen them since that American tour in 2006, was it? They've been in the gym, let me tell you.

Flew home the next day (have I missed a day?). Had a 5 hour stop-over in Hong Kong. Caught up with the English newspapers. Mardy-bum John Terry's not coming to City. Halle-fuckin'-looya. Ate more crisps than even Irie Nancy could imagine. Bored shitless. Slept like a small elephant on the flight home. Arrived at a deserted Heathrow at 5.05 this morning.

Hope this made sense, if it didn't, fuck'all y'all. It's 3 o'clock next Thursday afternoon in my head.

Oasis, Weezer, Fall Out Boy Rock Out At Jisan Valley

Two rock festivals battled it out in Korea over the weekend, but for most rock fans, it was no contest.

Jisan Valley Rock Festival, featuring performances by Oasis, Weezer, Starsailor, Fall Out Boy, Basement Jaxx, Patti Smith plus top Korean musicians like Crying Nut, Lee Han-chul and Run Run Runaways and Kim Chang-wan Band, attracted over 52,000 fans over the three-day festival at Icheon, Gyeonggi Province.

Billed as a ``green'' and eco-friendly rock festival, Jisan's grass lawns, cool weather and scenic view of the surrounding mountains were a nice change from the Pentaport Incheon Rock Festival.

``The idea of bringing nature into the music festival with the best line-up in Korea proved to be very successful. People were happy to tread on the lawn barefoot compared to the muddy, stony site at Pentaport. The weather was fantastic,'' Seo Shin, an Oasis fan, said.

The festival kicked off Friday, but things heated up when American rockers Jimmy Eat World hit the Big Top Stage.

Fall Out Boy soon followed, performing hits like ``I Don't Care,'' ``Thnks for Th Mmrs,'' and ``America's Suitehearts'' during their one-hour set. ``We should have come to Korea a long time ago,'' bassist Pete Wentz told the crowd.

Korean punk rockers Crying Nut kept the crowd's energy high, while British rock group Starsailor had everyone over at the Green Stage enthralled with their music.

But the most eagerly anticipated act on Friday was Weezer and they did not disappoint. Weezer started their set with ``Undone ― The Sweater Song,'' and frontman Rivers Cuomo surprised everyone when he played a bright red guitar with the ``Go Reds'' logo. He even asked the crowd to do the ``Daehan Minguk'' chant.

``We're so happy to finally be here. After so many years, we're finally in Korea. We hope to come here many more times,'' Cuomo said. He further endeared himself to the fans by speaking several Korean phrases and sentences.

Weezer played some brand new songs from their upcoming album, like ``I'm Your Daddy,'' ``Can't Stop Partying'' and ``The Girl Got Hot.'' For their encore, they played a medley of pop songs like Katy Perry's ``I Kissed a Girl,'' and Lady Gaga's ``Poker Face,'' before finishing off with ``Buddy Holly.''

Saturday started with Lee Han-chul and Run Run Runaways performing at the Big Top Stage. Lee, a veteran musician who recently came back from a trip to Cuba, showed off Latin influences in his music.

Korean punk band Johnny Royal entertained audiences with their instructions on how to have more fun. New Zealand band Human Instinct presented a bluesy brand rock'n'roll, followed by Korean modern rock bands Deli Spice and Kim Chang-wan band. The 55-year-old Kim, a founding member of the legendary rock band Sanulrim, performed his old hits that had everyone up and dancing.

Windy City, a Korean reggae rock band, gave audiences a feel of what true Rastafari is about through their exciting yet soulful music.

The Saturday's highlight was, however, undoubtedly the headliner Basement Jaxx. The 90 minutes of electric dance music drove the audiences wild, especially with Basement Jaxx' last song ``Bingo Bango.''

On Sunday, the crowd swelled in numbers, causing long lines at the restrooms and food stalls. Some fans complained they had to line up for an hour to buy food.

Jang Ki-ha and the Faces, a cult band from Hongdae that blends kitsch with clever lyrics, and Japanese band Asian Kung-fu Generation managed to entertain the audience with their hits.

Patti Smith & Her Band made their first appearance in Korea and showed why Smith is called the ``Godmother of Punk.'' Performing songs like ``Because the Night'' and ``People Have the Power,'' Smith raised her guitar and said: ``This is the only weapon we need.''

The final night's headliner Oasis burst on stage with frontman Liam Gallagher's typical rock'n'roll attitude by throwing away tambourines and shouting swearwords. While he did not care to remember the name of the rock festival he was in, Gallagher did remember to thank Korean fans who were at their gig in Seoul last April.

Oasis performed old and new songs, such as ``The Shock of the Lightning'' and ``I'm Outta Time.'' After their electrifying encore, the Jisan Valley Rock Festival ended with a lavish fireworks display.

While Oasis didn't say much during the concert, it was obvious the enthusiastic Korean fans left a big impression. On Monday, Liam Gallagher posted a message on Twitter: ``Korea, just wanna say you were absolutely (expletive) amazing, I love your country, my kinda people. Live forever.''

Booze, Broccoli And An Elephant Statue: Oasis' Wembley Rider Revealed - Daily Gossip

Reverend And The Makers' Jon McClure has revealed the rider Oasis ordered in for their Wembley Stadium gigs in London earlier this month. According to McClure, whose band supported Oasis at the shows, the Gallaghers and co put on an impressive spread that included fairy cakes, spiced coleslaw, Mexican food and "enough booze to sink a small battleship".

McClure, who was speaking from the backstage area, continued: "There's also a selection of cold meats, a very interestingly chopped tomato, broccoli with a flaked almond thing on top, a selection of bread and a small statue of an elephant" (Metro).

Liam Gallagher Responds Over Oasis' Roundhouse Gig

Singer reacts to his brother's onstage rage comments

Oasis' Liam Gallagher has responded to his brother Noel's comments over the band's recent London Roundhouse gig, during which he gave verbal abuse to a fan.

As previously reported on NME.COM, the singer raged against a man in the crowd, swearing at him and insulting him from the stage after an object was apparently thrown at him at the start of the gig, which was part of the festival.

Following the gig, Noel wrote on his blog on the band's website, Oasisinet.com: "That gig at was… erm… very odd. What'siz'name [Liam] exploded with pretend rage the minute he walked on. Strange cat. Probably on his man period.

"Saying that, it was a full moon'n'all. Didn't notice him getting any more hairy though. Mind you, those that were there seemed to enjoy it, so… y'know, onwards and sideways."

Now, Liam has responded on his Twitter page: "Regarding shortarse's comments on my behaviour at the roundhouse-Pretend rage? It's called rock and roll darling, you wanna try it sometime.

"Man period? You've been on since the first gig in Seattle! And as for the squares backstage, all your guests left with you Live Forever.

He added: "And as for leaving the stage between songs, that's when I go to the bar just like you fucking lot! Live Forever."

The band are currently touring Asia and are due to return to the UK to headline the sold-out V Festival on August 22 and 23.

I scanned and typed up a page from the iTunes London Festival programme that I got when I attended the Roudhouse on Tuesday.

It was available for free at the venue and was also given away inside the London Evening Standard last month.

Oasis





With a capacity of 3,000, the Roundhouse isn't exactly tiny, but for Liam and Noel it's a small room, so this should count as a real treat.

Some 15 years, eight number ones and 50 million album sales since Definitely Maybe defined a era, Oasis have never been more worthy of the title of people's band - winning a Brit award for outstanding contribution to British music last year and, with Dig Out Your Soul, proving they are still capable of making music that makes grown men clasp each other in beery hugs and shout "C'mon!".

Just to wet your appetite for this one, last time Oasis played the Roundhouse, at the BBC Electric Proms, everyone agreed it was the most vital and visceral performance Liam and Noel had given for years.

The Enemy



Oasis are going to have to work to keep that people's band title - Coventry three-piece The Enemy, born of seething provincial frustration and old Jam, Manics and Clash records, reek of the real thing.

Tom Clarke sings in the authentic tones of English working class angst, "toilets that smell of desperation" and "Takeaway wrappers" that make up a nation's soul.

The fine Music For The People, album number two, has consolidated their position as the most stirring band of the decade.

Q&A With Noel Gallagher On Manchester City

You probably know by now what he thinks about John Terry, but there's more - he's absolutely loving this new Citeh era, doesn't care how much they want to pay players and loves Stephen Ireland...

This is a mental time to be a City fan. Do you ever wish you were back in the days of Lee Bradbury and Shaun Goater?

No. I'm absolutely loving it, and if you ask 99.9% of City fans they would say the same. I'm sick of supporting loveable, affable City - f*** that, we want the best players in the world, playing the best football in the world in the best stadium in the world, owned by the richest people in the world.

There's a funny English attitude where almost overnight, attitudes change. I've lived in London for 15 years and every time I got in a black cab they've said, "Oh you're a City fan, we love City," and now they all think we're arrogant with ideas above our station. It's a funny English attitude towards success and money.

I'm just happy that the owners have followed through. They said they would spend money and they have done. And this is clearly not a one-season thing - you don't get players like that to sign unless you promise them more to come next season and the season after that.

Is there no part of you worried about paying someone £200,000 a week?

If the club was a PLC and it was my money being spent on wages then yes, I'd be mighty p***ed off. But it's not my money, it's not your money, and what right has anyone to tell anyone what to spend their money on? As City fans we're absolutely f***ing loving it.

What p***es me off though is that everything is now about the money. I read in the paper the other day that Emmanuel Adebayor is joining in a £65m deal. Well, he's not is he? But because it's City they've got to add up all the wages and make it look more obscene. Nobody ever discusses how much Ronaldo cost Manchester United like that.

What makes me smile is that on the day Carlos Tevez joined I was watching on Sky and some lad was saying that all his life City had been winning nothing and all his United-supporting mates had ripped the p*** out of him. He said it was the best day of his life when Tevez signed. Now that's f***ing priceless.

So which signing has excited you the most?

Well, I was actually staggered after Shay Given signed because I thought he was the best goalkeeper in the Premier League. Then it was Gareth Barry and I thought that was a masterstroke because he's that rarest of things - a left-sided defensive midfielder.

I suppose Tevez is the one though because you know you'll get 100% out of him for 90 minutes, like Kevin Keegan or someone like that. I don't care what we pay him if he puts in the effort.

But whoever we sign, they won't come close to Stephen Ireland for me. I think he's f***ing brilliant.

So would you want John Terry?

No. I don't like John Terry and I never have. He's got funny eyes and he's a cry baby. He's also a Cockney and he'd absolutely be coming just for the money.

And I hope the Adebayor deal falls through. I have always had a great dislike for Adebayor. I don't like all that silly dancing by the corner flag - I prefer a swift handshake and back to the game. We've got Roque Santa Cruz who can do a job in the same position.

No, I don't want Terry, I'd rather have Joleon Lescott. I think it's important to buy someone experienced in the Premier League at centre-half. You don't want to be messing around with a couple of Italians there. We've been linked with Matty Upson as well and I'd take either of those two, or preferably both.

Listen to me saying I'd take Lescott or Upson - 18 months ago the only thing I was hoping for was a decent kit.

What can you achieve this season?

I think with no European commitments we can go all out in the Premier League. I don't think we can challenge for the title but I expect us to finish between fourth and sixth. I think if Mark Hughes can't pull this off, then he's only got himself to blame.

Do you think he's the man to take City forward?

Who knows? I can't help thinking that they're building a squad to go to someone else and offer them the job. And when that happens I think they should go straight to Jose Mourinho, and then to Guus Hiddink if Jose doesn't want the job.

The best thing is that the two most exciting clubs in world football at the moment are Man City and Real Madrid - everybody is watching to see what we're going to do next. That's absolutely f***ing brilliant.

There's a load of sh**e written about how clubs like ours survive when the money runs out or whatever, but what does it matter? I've supported the club since I was four years old and I'll still be supporting them if they're in the Conference. I say just enjoy it while it lasts and have a ball.

Jane Graham cheers Liam Gallagher's zero tolerance approach to clapping

"Get your hands down. This is Oasis, not fucking Simple Minds," snapped Liam Gallagher at a Coventry audience this month, briefly stunning the happy clappers into a confused silence, as if a shotgun-toting Omar Little had just stormed the stage at a John Barrowman show.

It could be noted that Liam's a bit late to insist on Oasis's bad-ass credentials; the horse hasn't so much bolted as trotted off for a Pimm's and a Cath Kidston picnic blanket. It was his brother who recognised years ago that success meant "squares" showing up at your gigs. Noel himself said he found Liam's latest outburst "hilarious but undignified ... You pay £70 for a ticket to be told what to do by the singer. He seemed determined no one was gonna enjoy themselves. Strange."

Noel is too soft on his lighter-waving, Cliff-tastic fans. In fact Liam's insolence places him in the rock pantheon right up with other contrary bastards like Kurt Cobain, Alan Vega and Bob Dylan. Liam's firm belief that he knows best what his band really represent, that he's striving for identity and integrity in a sea of fools might seem delusional or wildly egocentric, but his refusal to kowtow to his own fans is in line with an attitude that has long given rock music its edge.

With hindsight we can now see that the Jesus And Mary Chain secured their spot in rock history by bleeding audiences' ears then walking offstage to a wall of boos after 20 minutes. My Bloody Valentine still have a similar philosophy - the earth-quaking basslines known to have induced vomiting and fainting at their gigs enraged one health and safety-conscious reviewer in Toronto so much last year he concluded his review with "Fuck you My Bloody Valentine".

Kurt Cobain's disdain for the large chunk of his fans he found undesirable was well known; he told homophobes, racists and misogynists not to show up at gigs. And Cobain was warm compared to the hate-hate thing Billy Corgan has going on with his fee-paying customers, whom he likes to compare to blood-sucking ex-girlfriends.

Of course Corgan is a pussy compared to Suicide's Alan Vega. In the late-70s the bike chain-brandishing Vega was known to jump offstage and block the exit when people who weren't enjoying the ear-splitting maelstrom of feedback tried to leave. Touring Britain, he had his nose broken by one enraged skinhead, and narrowly missed a flying axe in Scotland. As for Dylan, it's pretty clear he got a buzz from transforming that famously decorous folk audience into an enraged electrified rabble. When his next generation of fans got too reverential he turned on them too, eschewing his cool reputation by preaching born-again Christianity from the stage.

Rock stars aren't there to provide a reliable, value-for-money service. Plumbers provide a service; rock stars are accountable only to their muse, their demons or their hearts. So next time Liam flips the bird, refuses to get on a plane or walks offstage, thank your celebrity stars that someone still has the spark to piss off his manager and leave his PR mopping her brow.

The online festival drama titled 'Who Killed Summer?' brings together 6 lucky young music lovers from across Europe for the summer of their lives, touring around festivals that include Benicassim, Global Gathering, Relentless Boardmasters, and Bloom Festival.

It's a 20 episode drama which will be filmed on site over the next 9 weeks, the actors are cast in a Big Brother type setup where they audition for the role before being thrown together for the first festival. The twist?

One of them will be killed, new episodes will be released every few days.

Liam Gallagher Confronts Coin Throwing Fan

Liam Gallagher was involved in a fracas with an audience member throughout Oasis' gig at London's Roundhouse last night (July 21), after an object was apparently thrown.

The singer took offence almost immediately as they took the stage at the iTunes Live festival, as it appeared something was thrown at him.

Though not clear whether he was struck or not, Liam later made reference to both a coin and drink being aimed at him.

The incident put the singer in a angry mood for most of the gig, and he appeared to single out the fan who allegedly threw the object, labelling him a "fucking uni boy" and "fat boy" during the show.

Before opening song 'Rock 'N' Roll Star', Gallagher said: "Is that some fucking shitbag who's throwing fucking lager, can't handle a soft arse from fucking Camden town? Well get on this, fucking student…"

Later on in the band's set, he offered to meet face-to-face with the audience member, saying: "Here you are, student, if you want me to [go] offstage, don't be throwing fucking pound coins. Why don't you try and come up here and fucking make me come off? Alright dickhead."

Gallagher also changed the lyrics of several Oasis songs to reference the incident.

'Lyla' included the line "For you to come and fuck me out my mind", while a line 'Cigarettes And Alcohol' was changed to "Is it worth the aggravation to find yourself a knob when there's nothing worth working for?", while during 'My Big Mouth' Liam did not bother to sing the second verse or chorus as he moodily stalked the stage.

Before playing the latter song, Gallagher spoke about the fact the gig was free for iTunes Live competition winners, saying "Hope it's fucking moody for ya. You pay peanuts, you get monkeys on crack."

As is usual during Oasis gigs, the singer left the stage as to allow his brother Noel Gallagher to front several songs, including 'Half The World Away', before which the guitarist attempted to calm is brother down, declaring: "We'd like to do a slow number for you so we could all just calm down. Everybody just take a deep breath, pretend it's not happening."

Upon returning to his microphone, Liam Gallagher gestured to the crowd, mouthing the words "I'm number one" several times.

'Morning Glory' saw the singer move his attentions to Camden residents, asking "Is there anybody actually born and bred in Camden town here tonight? Prove it. Show us how fucking tight your jeans are. And your pointy shoes are. I'm fucking serious."

However, Gallagher's mood did improve towards the end of Oasis' 19-song set, with him joking that the band were about to play a new song before referencing the technical problems that have affected their recent gigs at London's Wembley Stadium, Benicassim festival and Manchester's Heaton Park.

"We're gonna do a new song now. It's called 'Power Failure' and it's amazing," he quipped as the band launched into their massive 1995 hit 'Wonderwall'.

Earlier in the evening, support band The Enemy had geed up the Roundhouse crowd, playing a slot that saw them showcase tracks from their two albums. Frontman Tom Clarke, wearing his traditional leather jacket, dedicated 'Be Somebody' to the audience, saying "Right, this next song is about you."

The band's early tracks 'Away From Here' and 'Had Enough' both drew impressive responses from the crowd, while a version of 'We'll Live And Die In These Towns' had many singing along at the frontman's request. Recent single 'No Time For Tears' saw Clarke thrash his guitar in a similar fashion to The Who's Pete Townshend's famed 'windmill' technique.

Before playing final song 'You're Not Alone', the singer paid tribute to Oasis, as well as the Camden audience. "I wanna thank Oasis for having us, and I wanna thank you for being a top audience," he said. "This is our last song, so if you know the words then sing along."

Oasis Tickets: Council's View

East Riding of Yorkshire Council agreed to answer the following questions posed by the Free Press about the sale of tickets for the Oasis concert at Bridlington Spa ...
How many tickets were on sale at the Spa? Is this more or less than for other rock gigs recently?
600 tickets were available from the box office. The number of tickets given to the Spa for events varies but this was towards the lower end of the scale due to national demand for the event.

How many customers were sold tickets/transactions were made at the box office before they sold out at 11am?

Tickets sold out at around 11.30am. All 600 tickets were sold. The number of individuals that purchased tickets will be held on our booking system and available to auditors but cannot be easily obtained.

There are lots of reports of queue jumping, with many people saying Spa staff turned a blind eye to it. Are you satisfied the security was adequate?

Spa staff dealt with a number of people who tried to queue jump, some of whom were suspected of already having purchased tickets.

No "blind eye" was turned. Security will be reviewed if face to face sales are made in future, as is normally the case after any major event.

Why were people queuing at 6am, for example, not given a ticket or wristband which could have proved they were there first and identified the queue-jumpers?

The Spa has previously hosted numerous sell out concerts and this has never been necessary in the past.

For future events – if we sell tickets face to face – we will look at this.

Why were people allowed to buy four tickets? Doesn't this encourage people to buy more than they need and sell them oneBay? Wouldn't a limit of two per person have been fairer?

The numbers of tickets offered per person was the same as available through other outlets and standard for this type of event. Whatever number was selected it would not have pleased everyone. We have received complaints that we didn't sell with a limit of six per person.

Several people who queued said they saw "council big-wigs", "council officials" or "big names of the town" going into the Spa for tickets and bypassing the queue. Other people have told the Free Press that East Riding of Yorkshire Council staff secured their tickets at least 24 hours before they went on sale to the public. How does the council react?

Staff were not allowed to purchase tickets in advance and no council staff bypassed the queue.

It was alleged afterwards that one well-known individual (who does NOT work for the council) paid his employees to stand in the queue to buy tickets in their own name and pass these on to their employer.

Absolute Hits V

Absolute Radio continues its live music coverage this summer with a weekend of programming from the V Festival in August.

Breakfast show DJ Christian O’Connell and Hometime DJ Geoff Lloyd will be based in the Absolute Radio VIP area, which will play host to live performances from the likes of Elbow, Paolo Nutini and The Enemy.

Listeners will also be able to hear live sets from Oasis and Snow Patrol on Sunday August 23 and the station will air news and interviews over the course of the festival.


They are also being encouraged to download the Absolute Radio LiveAmp, which delivers video, photos and a live Twitter feed direct to their iPhone or iPod Touch.

The V Festival takes place in Hylands Park, Chelmsford– where Absolute will be based – and at Weston Park in Staffordshire on August 22 to 23.
