Noel Gallagher Is Keen To Spend A Night In A Crack House With Russell Brand

Noel Gallagher is keen to spend a night in a crack house with Russell Brand.

Since becoming firm drinking buddies the Oasis rocker is eager to lead the womanising comedian, 33, astray.

He said "Unfortunately Russell goes out and drinks mineral water.

"I keep telling him to have a f***ing beer - one beer - but he says that he'll probably end up in a crack house in Kings Cross within 40 minutes.

"I was like, brilliant I'll come with you!"

Noel Gallagher On Life, Liam, Partying & Football

Noel Gallagher has threatened to send Kaiser Chiefs to hospital.

The formidable Oasis rocker, 41, confessed he avoids bumping into the band in case he sees red over one of the Chiefs.

Noel, who has shown his contempt for the Leeds lads in the past, said: "If I'm at a celebrity football match and I'm up against somebody from Kaiser Chiefs then they're going to hospital and that's the end of that.

"So I've always said: 'I think it's best if I sit this one out, ' otherwise the Vinnie Jones would come out in me."

Ahead of Monday's release of new Oasis single Falling Down, Noel also sharpened his tongue for brother Liam, 36.

He said: "Liam gets up and he's a f***ing idiot and then he goes to bed. He turns up and that's what usually spoils any celebrations."

Even footballers were not spared in the Man City fan's rant. He said:"I've got a lot of time for footballers – but only because 90% of them are thick as pig sh** and you can take the piss out of them."

As the band fly high with seventh album Dig Out Your Soul, Noel also revealed he is not worried about the credit crunch.

Speaking to talkSPORT magazine, out now, he said: "I don't mean to be f***ing rude but I do own a black Amex card that has unlimited credit and cannot be denied anywhere.

"I could walk into a showroom selling Boeing 747s and, regardless of whether I could afford it, they'd have to accept that card."

He added: "When I was taking drugs on a regular basis it was a frightening experience for the record company.

"You could have literally gone out and bought a house on a whim – and I had more whims than I care to mention."

B-Side Of The Week: A New Oasis Track!

After last week's electropop bonanza from The Saturdays, we're changing things up a bit on B-side of the week. Rather than surging synths and thundering choruses, we've opted for the raw and psychedelic flipside to Oasis's new single 'Falling Down'.

It's called 'Those Swollen Hand Blues' and it's a welcome breather from the band's recent run of stadium-filling rock numbers and conventional ballads. Noel, on lead vocals here, seems to have taken a trip to a forest filled with purple trees and giant bouncing bunnies, plonked himself down on a stump of wood and begun pondering life's more pressing issues. "Life is like a rollercoaster," he sings, presumably not quoting Ronan Keating. "I can't find the birds or the bees, hope they're down the back of the sofa."

Bearing a passing resemblance to 'Sittin' Here In Silence (On My Own)', the B-side to the band's 2005 hit 'Let There Be Love', there's something strangely reassuring about this track. It shows that after 15 years in the music industry, Oasis can still craft intriguing, slightly weird tunes that aren't written solely to sell out stadium tours and fund their pension schemes. The full version is available on the 'Falling Down' CD single, out Monday, but for now click here for a 30-second taster.

Noel Gallagher Talks Impulse Buying

Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher says he's too rich to worry about the economic climate and has unlimited credit.

Noel Gallagher has boasted he is so rich he could buy a plane.
The Oasis guitarist has a special credit card which has no limit on spending and he is not afraid to use it.

Noel told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "I don't mean to be f***ing rude, but I do own a black Amex card that has unlimited credit and cannot be denied anywhere.

"I could walk into a showroom selling Boeing 747s and, regardless of whether I could afford it, they'd have to accept the card."

The rocker - who in 2007 boasted he had £14 million in his bank account - would have been scared to have the credit card at the height of his drug taking in the 90s.

Noel added: "When I was taking drugs on a regular basis it was a frightening experience for the record company. You could have literally gone out and bought a house on a whim - and I have more whims than I care to mention."

Noel, 41, also blasted his brother, Oasis frontman Liam for ruining nights out with his black mood.

He said: "Liam gets up and he's a f***ing idiot and then he goes to bed. He turns up and that's what usually spoils any celebrations."

All 75,000 V Festival Tickets Sell Out In Two Hours

FORGET the hard times, we want to rock!

Despite the grim economic climate, all 75,000 tickets for this August’s V Festival were snapped up within two hours of going on sale on Friday.
The event, in Hylands Park, Chelmsford, is being headlined by Oasis and The Killers.
Festival director Bob Angus said the rapid sell-out was “a fantastic endorsement” of the strength of the line-up, also featuring Elbow, Lily Allen and The Specials.
“We’re really pleased that, despite these uncertain times, V Festival has clearly been embraced once again by music fans looking for a great weekend of entertainment,” he said.

Essex County Council trading standards has warned fans who missed out not to go to unofficial sources.

Tracey Chapman, the authority’s cabinet member for environment and waste, said many unauthorised agencies may claim to have tickets but, in most cases, they will charge over the odds – and the ticket may have never even existed.

She urged people to only buy from approved outlets; ensure they have full contact details for who they are dealing with; be wary of paying above face value; and use a credit card if paying over £100, as it is possible to claim back from the credit card company if something goes wrong.

Tales From the Middle Of Nowhere

Taken from Noel's tour blog for oasisinet.com

Thank fuck that's over. Looking forward to a little time off. I was actually starting to do my own head in!

Apologies 'bout the gig last night in Paris. An utter shambles. We had to stop the gig TWICE!! Technical problems, see? Couldn't be helped, I'm afraid.

Sad that we only seen the 'Vegas for a few days. Nice bunch though. Good music. Soul power, see?

Am currently on that Euro-Star with Irie Nancy. Slightly disheveled (me, not her. She, of course looks tip-top).

Now, before I get grossly misquoted about this (which is inevitable as I'm being interviewed by Q Magazine next week) - China! Fuck me, them communists have got long memories, eh? I can't even remember doing the offending gig 12 years ago? Come on, let it go.

Noel Gallagher: 'American Gigs Are Soul Destroying'

Oasis rocker Noel Gallagher hates touring in the U.S. - because the audiences are too busy eating pizza to appreciate his performances.

The band is widely recognised as one of the U.K.'s most popular acts, and frequently sells out shows across the world.

Oasis embarked on a North American tour last year (08), but were forced to scrap several dates after guitarist Noel was attacked on-stage by a fan in Toronto, Canada in September.

But the cancelled gigs seemingly didn't upset the star too much - he insists his past experiences playing for American audiences were "soul-destroying".

He says, "I'm not too keen on touring there. It's not like Europe.

"There are a lot of people eating pizza. It gets a bit soul-destroying after a while when you're playing.

"I'm not keen on it but you have to go there I suppose."

Gallagher's alleged attacker, 47-year-old Daniel Sullivan, is due to face a charge of aggravated assault at a pre-trial hearing on Friday (06Mar09).

Oasis Gigs In China Cancelled Due To Finances Not Tibet, Claims Promoter

Chinese promoter claims authorities' withdrawal of performance licences had 'nothing to do with Tibet problem'

Oasis's cancelled Chinese gigs have nothing to do with Noel Gallagher's support of Tibet, according to the band's Chinese promoter. No – the government revoked Oasis's licences merely because the promoter is in a "tough economic situation".

The comments by Beijing All Culture Communication Co Ltd are in contrast to this week's statement by Oasis, which blamed Gallagher's 1997 Tibetan Freedom concert performance for the cancelled gigs in Beijing and Shanghai. "I have no money," the promoter's rep told Reuters. "It has nothing to do at all with the Tibet problem."

It is not exactly clear why a promoter's finances would prompt the Chinese Ministry of Culture to cancel Oasis's performance licences. Nor why the promoter's spokesman, Mr Luo, refused to provide Reuters with his first name or any other identifying information. Although Luo promised that such cancellations are "normal in an environment of economic crisis", there are many reasons a Chinese company may not want to be seen as the organisation that brought pro-Tibet rabble-rousers to a big stage in Beijing.

The Chinese foreign ministry confirmed Luo's assertion, albeit without clarification of any kind. "According to the organiser, the performance was cancelled because of some economic problems the organiser had," spokesman Qin Gang said at a press conference. "The Chinese authorities responsible for this, the cultural departments, have already required the organisers to provide more detailed information."

Or in other words: "Tibet? What's Tibet?"

The rest of Oasis's Asian tour, including a performance in Hong Kong, is still to go ahead as planned.

And The Latest Score From Eastlands Is...DOVES 1 OASIS 0

Noel Gallagher's crew had been sounded out about recording an anthem for Manchester City – but their fellow City fans have nicked an early lead.

Doves have recorded a version of club song Blue Moon which will be played before tonight’s Aston Villa home match.

Drummer Andy Williams said: "It’s going to be interesting to see how it goes down. It was flattering to be asked and I hope the City fans like it."

Frontman Jimi Goodwin has nothing but admiration for Oasis, though, conceding: "I’ll occasionally hear ‘all right Jimi’ at a match, but it’s not like Liam and Noel when they go to a game.

"We just haven’t got that kind of profile."

Oasis Chinese Shows Cancelled

Oasis were informed Saturday, the 28th of February by their Chinese promoters, (Emma Entertainment/Ticketmaster China) that representatives from the Chinese Government have revoked the performance licenses already issued for the band and ordered their shows in both Beijing and Shanghai to be immediately cancelled. The government have instructed the ticket agencies to stop selling tickets and to reimburse the thousands of fans who have already purchased tickets for these inaugural Oasis shows in the People's Republic of China.

The licensing and immigration process for the two shows had been fully and successfully complied with well before the shows went on sale. The Chinese authorities action in cancelling these shows marks a reversal of their decision regarding the band which has left both Oasis and the promoters bewildered.

According to the show's promoters, officials within the Chinese Ministry of Culture only recently discovered that Noel Gallagher appeared at a Free Tibet Benefit Concert on Randall's Island in NY in 1997 and have now deemed that the band are consequently unsuitable to perform to their fans in the Chinese Republic on 3rd and 5th of April, during its 60th anniversary year.

Oasis are extremely disappointed that they are now being prevented from undertaking their planned tour of mainland China and hope that the powers that be within China will reconsider their decision and allow the band to perform to their Chinese fans at some stage in the future.

The rest of the South East Asian leg of the band's tour including the Hong Kong show will go ahead as planned.

Culture Ministry: No Ban On Oasis' China Concerts

China's Ministry of Culture said here Tuesday that it did not ban British rock & roll band Oasis from giving concerts in the country.

"We have learned that the promoters of their concerts in China came across some financial problems," Sun Qiuxia, an official with the department of entertainment market under the ministry, told Xinhua over phone. "But we haven't received any formal document from the companies about canceling the concerts."

She stressed that the ministry has approved Oasis' two concerts, April 3 in Beijing and April 5 in Shanghai, and did not revoke them.

The concerts were cancelled because the company had some problems with cash flow, said a manager surnamed Luo with Beijing-based performing company Suoyou, one of the concerts' promoters, in Monday's Beijing Times report.

The promoters were working on a solution about how to refund those who had bought tickets, he said.

Reuters quoted the band in a Monday report as saying that their concerts in China were called off because Chinese authorities discovered band member Noel Gallagher had appeared at a "Free Tibet" benefit concert in the United States in 1997.

On the band's MySpace page, two China concerts were still on the list of the upcoming shows. Its official website www.oasisnet.com is not currently operational and visitors are redirected to the MySpace page.

The Band That Fights Together Stays Together (Or Breaks Up Bitterly)

About half of all marriages end in divorce. And if you're in a band? Those divorce rates are closer to 95 percent. That's not a scientific fact. It's just me looking through my vinyl collection (yes, I have a vinyl collection) and lamenting all the groups I love who are now no more. The Beatles, the Smiths, the Bay City Rollers, Wham! All the greats ended up going their separate ways.

And even before the breakup, some groups can be like abusive marriages, full of yelling, throwing stuff across rooms, making threats, beheadings (OK, maybe not beheadings). And you can't even call the police, because no cop cares about a disgruntled lead singer throwing a bowl of brown M&Ms at his drummer.

However, once a band is bust, all bets are off. Colin Hay, the lead singer of '80s Aussie group Men At Work recently called the cops on his former guitarist, who reportedly threatened to kill him. Now the guitarist is due in court to explain. Maybe he can also explain that "Down Under" video. That one was strange.

But just as the most volatile marriages are often the most passionate, the same holds true for abusive band relationships. It's the dudes who hate each other the most who make the best music. Call it a musical law. Again, it's not a scientific fact, just an observation proven by my record collection.

Here are some of the most dysfunctional, volatile band relationships in rock history. I wouldn't want to be in between any of these dudes when they were at one another's throats, but I'm glad they stuck it out long enough to leave me some of my favorite music. I play it after every fight with my wife.

OASIS

Another pair of siblings who just can't get along, Liam and Noel Gallagher shared a room as kids. Liam found enjoyment in taunting his older brother. Things didn't change when Oasis hit the big time. At the peak of their late '90s conquest, Liam decided to back out of an "MTV Unplugged" appearance at the last minute, citing a sore throat. Guitarist Noel took over lead singing duties. Still, Liam's throat felt good enough for him to heckle his brother from the balcony during the performance. No word if they share a room on the road. Probably not.

THE JESUS AND MARY CHAIN

Most musical group tension originates from siblings. Brothers shouldn't marry each other, and they shouldn't be in bands together. It makes the whole family suffer. Jim and William Reid are the poster children for brotherly bandmate abuse. Throughout the '80s, they made a career of popping pills, playing notoriously short shows, and beating the hell out of each other and the occasional audience member. After William walked offstage 15 minutes into a 1998 gig (Jim was reportedly so drunk he couldn't sing), it was over for good. Or at least until 2007, when they reunited for the Coachella Festival.

THE POLICE

Who can blame Stewart Copeland for getting pissed off? He formed his band in 1977 and almost immediately all eyes (and songwriting royalties) went to Sting. Plus, you've got to wonder: how easy can it be to play in a group with Sting? Predictably, the rest of the band's career was heavily angst-ridden. Full of backstage brawls, passive-aggressive videos (smiling and slapping each other in "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic"), tense interviews, and an album cover ("Ghost in the Machine") featuring the band represented as digital LED displays because they couldn't agree on a photo. It took them 23 years to bury the hatchet and milk the reunion-tour machine.

VAN HALEN

Here's the problem: the only reason David Lee Roth got the gig as Van Halen's frontman was because he had a PA system (it was cheaper than renting it from him). That's like marrying someone for their money. The relationship was destined to fail. For eleven years, Van Halen was a tightrope act between Roth's vaudeville-meets-jujitsu shtick and Eddie's booze-and-drug-fueled guitar godliness. Once they released their '84 hit "Jump," the creative differences were beyond repair (Roth wasn't digging Eddie's new cheesy keyboard sound). Onstage that year the two were known to argue behind the stack of amps. Like the Police, time healed old wounds, and the guys played nice for a 2007-08 reunion tour... without original bass player, Michael Anthony, who was sacked for Eddie's 17-year-old son, Wolfgang.

EAGLES

For a band that has produced such easygoing music, the Eagles had a whole lotta tension. With constantly clashing egos, the band went through several personnel changes (co-founding bassist Randy Meisner announced his departure by dumping a beer over Glenn Frey's head). They broke up in 1980 after an infamous Long Beach concert (dubbed "The Long Night in Wrong Beach"), in which Frey and Don Felder spent the night describing to the audience how they were going to beat each other after the show. Their last album was completed with the members in different states. Don Henley said the Eagles would reunite "when Hell freezes over." It did in 1994, and they've been on-again, off-again ever since.

BRIAN JONESTOWN MASSACRE

Famously documented in the film "DiG!," the San Francisco-based band is a case study in musical dysfunction. More than 50 musicians have come and gone since its inception. Why is it so difficult being in a band with Anton Newcombe, the group's founder and volatile visionary? Here's one reason: he got in a fistfight with his bandmates in 1996 during a record label showcase gig. Needless to say, they didn't get signed.

METALLICA

You know it's bad when a group full of raging alcoholics kicks you out of the band for being too much of a drunk. Lead guitarist Dave Mustaine battled his bandmates for two years. He poured beer on their instruments, and he got into fights over his dog's behavior — Mustaine's dog scratched bass player Ron McGovney's car; Mustaine's dog got kicked; McGovney got punched. After arriving in New York to record their debut album, "Kill 'Em All," the band made one stop before heading for the studio: a Greyhound bus station, where they sent Mustaine and his gear back to California. Mustaine and his former bandmates got to patch things up in a group therapy session captured on film for the 2004 doc "Some Kind of Monster."

Noel Gallagher Craves Crisis

Noel Gallagher would like the credit crunch to get WORSE - to encourage him to write better music.

As deepening recession dumps tens of thousands of Britons on the dole, the Oasis guitarist and songwriter believes it can be beneficial for his band. "I hope the financial crisis gets a bit worse - at least we'll get a few good albums out of it," Noel, 41, told a Chinese magazine.

"When we started in the early 90s it was a pretty grim time when the Conservatives were still in power. Times of crisis usually bring out the best in music and fashion and politics and things like that."

Oasis China Concerts Are Shelved

Oasis' debut concerts in China have been cancelled after the authorities revoked the band's licences to play, deeming them "unsuitable".

Shows in Beijing and Shanghai due to take place next month have been pulled, and fans are to be reimbursed.

Concert promoters said the Chinese culture ministry recently found out that Noel Gallagher played at a Free Tibet benefit in the US in 1997.

The rest of the band's South-East Asian tour will go ahead as planned.

Profane language

In a statement issued through their publicists, Oasis said they were "extremely disappointed" about the news, and hoped the Chinese authorities would "reconsider their decision".

Organisers said that the immigration and licensing processes for the concerts had been completed before tickets went on sale.

The band are currently touring the world to promote their current release Dig Out Your Soul.

Other acts have encountered difficulties in playing China, which is celebrating the 60th anniversary since the foundation of the People's Republic this year.

Rapper Jay-Z was denied permission to perform in 2006 due to his use of profane language.

And Britney Spears was permitted to play the country in 2004 on the understanding that her costumes were not too revealing.

Last year, Icelandic star Bjork shouted "Free Tibet!" after a song about independence performed during a Shanghai concert, which went unreported in the state-controlled Chinese media.

Taken from Noel's tour diary for oasisinet.com

That TV show was massive. 2,000 people in the audience! TWO THOUSAND!! That's mental. We were on with Grazia superstar Jennifer Aniston, Owen Wilson, Duffy and the world's favourite German, Boris Becker!! Not sure how it all went, it was all in German, see? Apparently Rachel lost a bet and had to eat a doggy biscuit! There was also a kid on there who could tell the difference between certain kinds of football boots by licking them!? Ant and Dec, eat your little Geordie hearts out. Who said entertainment is dead? It's alive and well and living in Germany. Rachel legged it before we could get a good look at her. Owen Wilson had a beer and a chat though. Nice lad. He actually talks like that talk he's got in real life.

But for me, the highlight of the day was the return of Mr al-Fayed's shoes! BANG! They just appeared out of nowhere, attacking the senses, blinding my eyes. I thought they'd gone home in disgrace - not a fuckin' chance. And they're following us to the airport as we speak. We're on the way to Zurich.

Switzerland? The oddest of all nations? Think about it.

Exclusive: Noel Gallagher Interview

Good news Oasis fans!!

As well as his now award winning tour correspondence, Noel Gallagher has given an EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW to StopCryingYourHeartOut.com while on the band's European tour.

With their new single 'Falling Down' available to download on March 8th and in stores March 9th and an international tour well underway, we were given the opportunity to interview Noel on a wide range of subjects.

There's great news for you fans in Australia and Russia and there's news on the band's post tour plans.

Talking to the site, The Chief revealed his views on Dizzee Rascal, Ricky Hatton and current wardrobe. As well as finally putting an end to the rumours of Liam's break dancing career outside Kwik Save!

Q) Do the band plan on visiting South America, New Zealand, Australia and Russia on the current tour?

A) Not sure about New Zealand, but we’re definitely playing in Australia and Russia.

Q) Dizzee Rascal has said he would like to collaborate with you on a track, would you ever consider working with him?

A) Maybe. I don’t really give much thought to collaborations, etc. Saying that, Dizzee seems like a cool-kat to me and I did like that tune ‘Fix Up, Look Sharp’, so you never know, eh?

Q) Does it still feel special when you walk on stage for the first time at a venue such as Madison Square Garden, or is it all part of the routine, sort of been there done that for you guys?

A) Without sounding like a cliché, it feels special every night to me. I’m constantly amazed by the amount of people who want to see us whether that be in America or anywhere else. It’s something I never take for granted.

Q) You have used Rhys Ifans, Robert Carlise and James Cunningham on some of your videos to date. Are there any other actors/actress you would like to use in one of your videos.

A) Who’s James Cunningham? I don’t really get involved in the production side of videos as I see the whole medium as a major pain in my arse-hole. It would be up to whatever director we were using at that time.

Q) A big part of the fan base including myself holds 'Be Here Now' in high regard, why was 'My Big Mouth' dropped from the setlist?

A) I felt the set was too long. Nothing to do with the song. We do rehearse it every day though. Hopefully we’ll find a spot for it soon.

Q) Will there be any changes to the set-list for the upcoming UK stadium tour?

A) I’d like to think so. We’ve been rehearsing: ‘My Big Mouth’, ‘Half The World Away’, ‘Bag It Up’, and the alternative version of ‘The Turning’ (the one on the bonus CD from that box-set thing). Unfortunately, as Romeo doesn’t do sound-checks, it’s almost impossible to change anything. I’m guessing it’ll probably fall to me to try some acoustic numbers. We’ll have to wait and see.

Q) Who's the better live band? Oasis in 2009 or Oasis in 1994?

A) Not for me to say, is it? I didn’t see Oasis in ’94 and I haven’t seen us in ’09. You would have a more valid opinion on that kind of thing.

Q) It's rumoured that Liam used to break dance outside Kwik Save before being in a band. Was he good? Can he still do it?

A) Break dance? Liam? Not bloody likely!

Q) For a band with such a great tradition of B-Sides, why did the first two singles from 'Dig Out Your Soul' feature only remixes?

A) I just thought that most of the new songs lent themselves to remixes. Most of which are amazing. There’s a new remix of ‘Falling Down’ coming out soon by the Amorphous Androgynous which is absolutely incredible. All 22 mins of it!! There’s also a brand new original song, which is somewhat predictably brilliant.

Q) You turned a lot of Oasis fans onto Russell Brand, do you miss the radio show and are there any plans to be involved with him and Matt Morgan again?

A) Yes. I miss the show itself, not just my involvement in it (which was never quite defined!). Those two are without question two of the most brilliantly funny little men I ever did meet. I miss hearing their ridiculous voices on the radio. The fact that that show was taken off air is evidence of what a fuckin’ embarrassing shit-hole England has become. THERE-FUCK-YOU-I-SAID-IT!! There are plans to do something. It’s not for me to discuss here though.

Q) You've hinted in several interviews that you may do a solo album, are there any concrete plans and if so, when do you think it might come out?

A) The only concrete plans I have for next year is for a very long holiday.

Q) At what point did you realise just how influential you were? After going from playing 'toilets' to Knebworth in barely 3 years, did it pass you by just how much you achieved or was there a moment you took a step back and realised how big Oasis had become.

A) I’m not that pretentious to ever sit back and think like that. I live in the present, as much as possible. Obviously when re-living past glories for a journalist (who incidentally are seemingly unable to forget the past) I’m aware of what we did. But at the time, I was far too busy living it to think about it. I’m only really aware of it now.

Q) You had a masterplan for how the band would become the biggest in Great Britain (if not the world), was actually doing it easier or harder than you first imagined?

A) Easy. Too easy, in fact. Saying that, all the hard work had been done between ’89-’93 when I wrote most of the first 3 albums.

Q) Are there any older songs you've simply forgot how to play? E.G. Could you play Hey Now or Cloudburst on the spot now?

A) I could probably play them all, given 5 mins. I was playing ‘Hey Now’ a couple of days ago at the sound-check in Toulouse. And ‘Rocking Chair’ and ‘Digsy’s Dinner’ and ‘Take Me Away’. I sometimes do a few old ‘uns if we finish sound-checking early.

Q) Are there any covers you've tried to do that just didn't work?

A) Yep, fuckin’ loads. I couldn’t list them all. One that sticks in the memory is ‘Eleanor Rigby’. Couldn’t find the right key for my voice.

Q) Are there any plans for a double-album? And how many songs out of the rumoured 66 written for 'Don't Believe The Truth' might still get an airing?

A) Not really into double albums. I can only really think of one that’s any good, that being ‘The White Album’. I think that with iTunes etc., there would be no point. As for the 66 songs? We didn’t say there was 66 good songs!

Q) What's the worst idea presented to you for one of your videos?

A) They’re all ludicrous ideas. I fuckin’ hate doing videos. I understand they’re a necessary evil, but still…utterly soul destroying. I didn’t join a band to be in a video. A Kaiser Chief I am not. Sadly, I think it’s probably why we haven’t become as huge in the States as Coldplay or U2.

Q) Where did you get your green jacket? And who is it by? (CLICK HERE)

A) Erm..it’s made by Stone Island. And I got it in their shop on Beak Street, London Town. It was a sample. Never seen another one like it.

Q) How did it feel to be in the ring in Vegas with Ricky Hatton?

A) Wow! Amazing. I was nervous for him. It’s mad being that close to something you only ever see on TV. When wots’iz’name done the “Let’s get ready to rumble” business, that WAS fuckin’ mental. Glad he won though. We’d planned an almighty piss-up spanning 2 continents after and no one had taken into account what would happen if he lost! God bless Ricky. He’s a fuckin’ top lad.

Q) Is touring in 2009 as fun as it was in 1994?

A) Yes. More so for me. ’94 was an absolute hurricane. But you can only live it like that for so long (and I think we all know what I’m talking about). If I was doing now, what I was doing then, I’d consider myself a fuckin’ joke.

Thanks for the questions.

In a bit.

NG.

Special thanks to Big Brother Recordings and Ignition for arranging the interview on the sites behalf and of course Noel for taking the time to do it.

Thriller, Ok Computer And Nevermind Triple Whammy In MTV's... Greatest Albums Nominations

Michael Jackson’s multi-million selling album Thriller, Radiohead’s seminal album OK Computer and Nirvana’s legendary rock album Nevermind have all received double nominations from MTV to be named MTV’s Greatest Album Ever.

In conjunction with music industry experts, MTV’s flagship music channels VH1, MTV Two and MTV Base have each collated their top ten greatest albums since 1981, the year MTV launched. The debates to select the albums were chaired by channel presenters Edith Bowman (VH1), Zane Lowe (MTV Two) and Trevor Nelson (MTV Base).

In a surprise result, Thriller, Nevermind and OK Computer all appear twice in the three channels top tens resulting in a final top 27. Thriller has been voted No.1 in both MTV Base and VH1’s top ten list.

The shortlisted albums have been put forward for a public vote to find the definite MTV’s Greatest Album Ever as voted for by MTV viewers at www.mtv.co.uk/greatestalbum.

Despite their recent Grammy success and appearing in the top 100 for both VH1 and MTV Two, none of Coldplay’s four platinum selling albums have made it to the top 27.

Oasis are the only group to have two albums in the top 27 put to the public vote, after Definitely Maybe made it into the MTV Two top 10 and (What’s The Story) Morning Glory making the VH1 top ten.

Surprise albums in the shortlist include Human League’s Dare described by VH1 panellist Pete Burns as “massively influential” to electro pop, with Pete Robinson from website Popjustice citing the likes of rising star Little Boots being “inspired by Human League”.

Craig David’s debut album Born To Do It also makes an unexpected appearance thanks to the MTV Base top ten. As a panellist for Base’s selection, Craig himself was honoured that his album was chosen alongside huge US stars like Jay Z, Notorious B.I.G. and Kanye West.

“I was a product of my environment when I wrote that album, and I was talking about things relevant to me as a kid. Lyrically I felt people got what I was trying to say and embraced the album as being relevant,” said Craig.

Amy Winehouse’s multi platinum selling second album Back to Black is the only offering from a UK female to make the top 27. Described by VH1 panellist Huey Morgan from The Fun Lovin’ Criminals as “a quintessential album, [Mark] Ronson’s production absolutely made it”, it’s the most recent album to make the top 27.

Made up entirely of US and UK artists, the shortlist includes 15 albums by US music stars to 12 from the UK. And in the great ‘north v south’ UK music debate the north of England has eight albums to the south’s four.

Each channel’s review of the top 10 albums can be seen this weekend, with Trevor Nelson presenting the MTV Base run down Saturday 28 February at 9pm, followed by Edith Bowman presenting VH1 and Zane Lowe MTV Two both on Sunday 1 March at 9pm. Each host will be joined by:

VH1 – Huey Morgan (Fun Lovin’ Criminals), Pete Burns (Dead or Alive), Suggs (Madness) and Peter Robinson (Editor, Popjustice.com)

MTV Two – Nicky Wire (The Manic Street Preachers), Matthew Murphy (The Wombats), Shaun Keaveney (BBC 6 Music) and Fred Blood-Royale (MTV Two presenter)

MTV Base – Craig David, Jay Sean, DJ Semtex (1 Xtra) and Hattie Collins (editor, Rewind)

To vote for MTV’s Greatest Album Ever go to www.mtv.co.uk/greatestalbum

Results will be revealed in a simulcast across VH1, MTV Two and MTV Base on 11 April 2009.

The complete list of each channel’s top 10:

Can you believe we're back in Dusseldorf! 3 times I've been here in the last month. We're doing some TV show. No idea what the guy's called but apparently he's considered to be the German David Letterman (if such a thing could possibly exist)!

We've said goodbye to Free Peace. Which is a shame. They were brilliant. Good lads. On the other hand, we've said hello to Glasvegas. Which is great. It'll give us a chance to see what they're all about.

Getting fucked off with this leg of the tour now. Need a week off. Get a hair cut. Eat something vaguely healthy. Stay sober for more than 24 hours in a row. Only 2 more gigs left. Zurich and Paris.

On a brighter note, the Mighty-I is up and running! Life will never be the same again.

In a bit.

The Gallagher Brothers Can Live Forever As Ricky Hatton's Belt-Carriers

Ricky Hatton has told Oasis superstars the Gallagher brothers they can live for ever as his belt-carriers - despite Liam spoiling for a fight last time out.

The rock 'n' rollers trailed Hitman Hatton into the MGM Grand Garden Arena ahead of his win over Paulie Malignaggi in November and caused quite a stir.

Frontman Liam, above, upset New Yorker Malignaggi by thrusting one of Hatton's belts into his face and taunting him.

Hatton said: "Liam got into the ring and I told him to stand right behind me with the belt.

"But he went up to Malignaggi and said, 'What do you think about that?' I was trying to focus on the fight but I could see him out of the corner of my eye.

"Noel Gallagher was telling his brother, 'Come here you, d***head'! But provided they can be there they will always carry my belt.

"Oasis are a real passion of mine and I love their music. I loved them before I even knew them."

Hatton likes to train to the sound of hits like Wonderwall, Live Forever and Don't Look Back In Anger, which boom out from the mega sound system in his gym.

And while Liam has a reputation as one of music's bad boys, Hatton reckons there is a soft side to him that few get to see.

He added: "Liam had never been to a fight before and he said, 'It scared me, that. How many more fights are you having, Ricky?' "I said, 'I don't know', and he said, 'Don't have any more. I'm as hard as **** but that scared the life out of me'.

"He pulled me to one side and said it. I thought how nice it was because he sometimes comes across as being a tough nut."

Despite Gallagher's concerns, though, Hatton will fight on.

And as he and Manny Pacquiao met in Manchester yesterday to promote their lightwelterweight fight on May 2 in Las Vegas, the Hitman declared: "I am unbeatable at 10stone and I can't wait to challenge for the pound-for-pound title again.

"There won't be any coming second this time. Manny is going to fight someone who is fast and will pressure him.

"When I went on my cruise, there were a load of Filipino waiters who looked at me and laughed, and said, 'Hatton - Pacquiao?', because they thought I had no chance.

"They won't be laughing at me on next year's cruise."

Russell Brand And Noel Gallagher Team Up For New Project

Russell Brand is making his radio comeback hosting a football show with pal Noel Gallagher.

It will be Russell’s return to the airwaves since quitting his BBC Radio 2 show in October after making prank calls to Fawlty Towers star Andrew Sachs.

His mate Noel will co-host the show on national chat station TalkSport so they can trade football banter, gags and insults.

A pal of Russell revealed yesterday: “TalkSport showed an interest pretty soon after Russell left his BBC show.

Movie

“He has now agreed but the exact details are yet to be confirmed.

It will be a one-off in the first instance but will become a regular show if it is a success.

“Obviously it will need to be fitted around Russell’s movie commitments in Hollywood.

“The fact he comes with Noel Gallagher is the icing on the cake.”

Swordsman Russell apologised and fell on his, erm, sword after the Sachsgate scandal where he and Jonathan ross left messages on Andrew’s answerphone about his fling with the actor’s granddaughter Georgina Baillie.

But I reckon he has served his time and personally I am pleased to hear his unique style back on the wireless.

His BBC show — on which Noel was a regular guest — was the best thing on the radio.

And for a man with silly hair who dedicates his life to his quest for my Bizarre Shagger Of The Year gong, West Ham fan Russell knows a fair bit about the beautiful game too.

And with Manchester City supporter Noel by his side the terrace banter will be much funnier than a season in the life of either of their beloved clubs.

It’s definitely a big coup for TalkSport which is fast gaining a reputation as the best place for witty radio chat.

Risks

Russell’s pal added: “It’s not about the money for Russell.

“He just loves talking football on the radio — especially with Noel.

“TalkSport is a good place for him too. The station will be prepared to work around his schedule and he will be able to take a few risks too.”

But I’m sure any granddaughter gags will be off limits.
