Hurts Want Noel Gallagher Hook-Up

Hurts have revealed that they would like to collaborate with Noel Gallagher.

The duo, who are currently working on the follow-up to their 2010 debut Happiness, teased that "more guitars" will feature on their new material.

However, when asked who they would most like to collaborate with, singer Theo Hutchcraft named the former Oasis star as their ideal duet.

He told Absolute Radio: "We love Noel. He's one of the only people who has influenced us to write music and we love The Horrors so much. They really influenced our record when we made it."

Speaking about Gallagher receiving the 'Godlike Genius Award' at the NME Awards 2012 last night (February 29), Hutchcraft praised the songwriter for influencing modern bands.

He added: "He's one of the greatest living rock stars and he's a real tribute to Britain. He's still relevant and he's still cool! The bands all here today wouldn't be here without him, so he's important."

Former Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher was declared a godlike genius at the NME Awards on Wednesday night.

The magazine's editor, Krissi Murison, hailed him as "a man who has written more anthems in the last two decades than anyone else".

Taking to the stage at Brixton Academy in south London to collect his honour, the rock star behind a string of hits including Wonderwall and Don't Look Back In Anger paid tribute to his fans.

He said: "To all the people up there who bothered to buy a ticket, a CD or a T-shirt – because that's what fucking counts, the merchandise – thank you."

Singer Paul Weller, Kinks frontman Ray Davies and comic Russell Brand paid homage to the Mancunian songwriter, with Brand calling him "a hero to a generation".
