Oasis Video Nasty

Oasis are set to boycott their own video shoot and infuriate hundreds of fans.

They invited die-hard followers to star in a promo for the new single Acquiesce being shot at a top-secret london gig venue tonight.

But last night no-one knew if Liam, 33, and Noel, 39, or even guitarist Gem Archer, 40, would be there.

A confused fan got in touch with me to say: "I got an e-mail from Oasis website saying there was a chance to be in the new video. ""We were under the impression that since it was at the venue, the band would be performing.

"But now we've been told not to get our hopes up. They aren't coming.

"We've been told it'll take four hours of our time, so if the band aren't there, they'd better have some free booze." Fans were also waiting to hear where the shoot would take place.

Yesterday Oasis did confirm the tracklist to their greatest hits Stop The Clocks, out November 20.

Interestingly there are no songs from Be Here Now and only one each from Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants and Heathen Chemistry.

Liam Ro-Lands A Booze Buddy

I’ve got bad news for 1980s telly star Zammo.

The Grange Hill druggie has lost best pal Roly Browning to Oasis star Liam Gallaher.

It’s an unlikely friendship but I can reveal Roly, real name Erkan Mustafa, has become Liam’s No1 boozing buddy.

A source said: “Erkan is a DJ. He met Liam in a studio and they really hit it off. They’ve been out for beers.”

Roly sang on the Grange Hill anti-drugs hit Just Say No in 1986. I wonder if Liam was a fan . . ?

Noel asked me to join City - Del Piero

Juventus striker Alessandro Del Piero has admitted he was lured to join Manchester City by Oasis star Noel Gallagher.

"I've been here 14 years and have a strong bond," he said. "I owed it to the Agnellis [the owners]. I couldn't leave the Old Lady like this.

"Noel Gallagher did ask me to go to Manchester because we're friends through music. I dee-jay and we have the same record label. He gave me my gold disc and came to the World Cup semi-final. He's my lucky mascot."

Brandon Flowers Digs Noel Gallagher

The Killers have paid homage to Noel Gallagher saying the Oasis lycnhpin is “real regular dude.”

The Las Vegas band supported Oasis on tour last year, in which time they forged a close bond with the older Gallagher.

Frontman Brandon Flowers also said that Noel helped them with the recording process on their second album ‘Sam’s Town.’

He explained to MTV: “I saw Noel a few months before we started the album. He had the same mentality about our band as he had for his own – just go and make the album.”

Flowers continued: “He likes our band, but we’ve hung out after one of our shows and he was a real regular dude. He’s funny, real funny. He’s a happy guy.”

Stop The Clocks Track Listing Revealed

After much speculation Oasis announce the final track listing for their definitive collection Stop The Clocks.

Unlike most albums of this nature, Oasis have sat down and undertaken the almost impossible job of picking what they consider to be their finest moments ever. So Stop The Clock is imbued with the sort of wilfulness that has helped make Oasis the favourite band of millions of people worldwide and its running order will no doubt provoke equal parts adulation and bar discussions from the millions of Oasis fans worldwide. Could it ever be any other way? Oasis have been at the helm of the world's music scene for over ten years and, on 20th November 2006 the first ever Oasis retrospective will draw together the years of multi platinum albums, Number One singles and, unique to Oasis, instantly familiar B sides into one 18 track double album entitled Stop the Clocks.

So here it is. The tracks as chosen by the band themselves - the songs they believe encapsulate their remarkable career to date.

Champagne Super Rover

A swanky Range Rover once owned by Oasis star Noel Gallagher is up for sale on the internet auction site eBay.

Civil servant Andy Iles - who bought the 4x4 from the rock star - aims to get £12,000 for it.

The 1999 model boasts blacked-out windows, leather seats and has clocked up 10,000 miles.

Andy, 40, of Didcot, Oxfordshire, said: "It's in great condition - and it gives you a real buzz driving round in a car which Noel owned.

"If you're an Oasis fan this will appeal to you."

Oasis Singled Out ... Again

I Hear Oasis are to re-release the single Acquiesce in time for the launch of their greatest hits album.

Sources tell me that, despite not being happy at putting out the album, they have agreed to re-record the track.

The band are flying out to Japan next week to film the video. Then, after just a couple of days, they will return to London to finish it off.

U2 did a similar thing with Sweetest Thing.

They re-recorded the track to tie in with their Best Of CD in 2002.

Some Might Say Oasis are ripping off someone else’s idea.

Oasis' Noel Gallagher Aids And Abets The Killers

U2 frontman Bono has such a penchant for giving career advice to up-and-coming bands, there's a name for it: the 'Bono Talk.' Now, Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher appears to be cutting in on the Irishman's turf, having helped the Killers overcome their nerves during the writing of their second album, 'Sam's Town.'

"I talked to Noel about it," singer Brandon Flowers tells AOL. "I was really afraid before I went into the studio. He brought up that he already had [Oasis'] second album written when they went in to make it. He was just a machine."

Flowers, a longtime fan, relished the encouragement. "I kind of immersed myself in it," he says. "We stayed for 14 hours every day. I never worked so hard at anything in my life.

"They talk about the sophomore slump, and I really feel for bands that go through it, because there is a lot of pressure if you've had any success."

The experience taught Flowers a lesson he now passes on. "As soon as we finished 'Hot Fuss,' we were thinking about this album. That's one bit of advice I would give to anybody -- no matter how great you think you're doing, you can be doing better."

John Mayer: I Think Oasis Are Fantastic

John Mayer never has been shy about adopting various styles or experimenting with different forms of music.

So we asked Mayer what he thinks of the following quote from the always opinionated Noel Gallagher of Oasis:

I don't want to challenge my audience because they're friends of mine," Gallagher told the Toronto Sun's Jane Stevenson last winter. "I don't want to be like f---in' saying to them, 'Well, I'm on a musical journey, come along if you want, but it might go a bit jazzy.' It's, like, we make Oasis music, man, and you all know what it sounds like."

Mayer doesn't really agree with that philosophy ... or does he?

"First of all, that's a great quote," Mayer says. "My approach is different, but only slightly different.

"I would not say to people, 'I'm going to change, and you have to come whether you want to or not.' But I can build side projects that, already inherent to them, are their own disclaimer."

For example: A blues-influenced CD was released in 2005 under the name "the John Mayer Trio." It did not do as well commercially as Mayer's solo work, but he never expected it would.

"If it doesn't say John Mayer, and only John Mayer, on it, you may not like it if you liked my other records," Mayer says. "Or you may.

"You have to learn how to change the things people want to hear. You have to challenge people sometimes, because listeners aren't aware of their consumption until they have consumed too much. A listener doesn't know, 'I'm feeling myself getting sick of this.' They just eat, eat, eat, and then vomit."

Later in the conversation, Mayer brought up Oasis again.

"By the way, my quote about Noel Gallagher is that I think Oasis is fantastic," Mayer says. "I love it when he puts down other bands. I would think if you were in a band that he put down, you would be kind of honoured.

"And in terms of their antics, the Gallagher brothers (Noel and Liam) are like professional wrestling. They're not really hitting people over the head with a real trashcan, but it's really fun to watch. It's great theatre. It's fake blood. It's kind of like Alice Cooper with a microcassette recorder."

Owen Morris And Marcus Russel Sang On Live Forever

Oasis may have grabbed the top spot for the world's greatest song under false pretences - because the chorus had to be sung by the producer when the Gallagher brothers failed to be up to the job. The rockers' hit Live Forever, from their 1994 debut album Definitely Maybe, was voted the best track of all time by readers of British music magazine Q last month (AUG06).

But the main refrain had to be sung by producer Owen Morris and the band's manager, when it transpired that Noel and Liam simply couldn't reach the notes. He says, "Liam couldn't hit the high notes in the chorus. "Noel wasn't the greatest singer back then, and so the line, 'You and me are gonna live forever' was actually sung by me and Marcus Russel, the band's manager."

The Coral Start Recording At Noel's Studio

The Coral are recording the follow-up to 2005's 'The Invisible Invasion' at Noel Gallagher's studio in Buckinghamshire.

According to an announcement on the band's official forum, The Coral began recording at Gallagher's studio in Wheeler End on August 30.

The band are set to begin mixing what they've so far recorded, though it is not yet known how close the album is to completion.

The site explains: "The lads have gone down to Noel Gallagher`s studio in Wheeler End, Bucks. They are doing a week of recordings that may be used on the new album. I've heard a coulple of tracks that they recorded in London and to me they sounded great but i think the lads want to iron out a few creases in the mixing and stuff. This follows a stint recording at London's RAK Studios."

The Coral's new album will be the band's fourth full-length record.

Boozy Gazza Has A Pop At Liam

Fallen football hero Paul Gascoigne has had a boozy bust-up with rock star Liam Gallagher.

And the aggro ended with the Oasis frontman letting off a fire extinguisher in Gazza's face.

The ex-England midfielder had been partying in London's exclusive Groucho club on Friday night after an interview.

Witnesses claim he and Liam came to blows following a argument.

And bouncers had to step in when Gazza, who last week admitted he had "fallen off the wagon" , ended up getting a hosing down.

A Groucho Club source said: "Tempers flared and there was a couple of punches thrown. Liam then decided to cool Gazza off with the extinguisher.

"It ended up being quite funny"

Hours after the early evening bust-up riled Geordie Gazza, 39, got into another scrape when he allegedly punched a photographer for taking a snap of him snogging Big Brother housemate Lisa Jeynes.

Our Groucho insider added: "Gazza was at the club for an interview and Liam rocked up at the same time.

"They've met each other in the past so Liam bowled over to Gazza and said hello and was chatting with him. but as the evening progressed they got they got into an argument, tempers flared then a fight started.

"Liam even grabbed hold of a fire extinguisher at one point and let off the spray in the club.

"It was chaotic untill doormen intervened and pulled them apart. Gazza didn't look to happy.

"But I wouldn't have liked to have seen him go toe to toe with Liam - he can handle himself".
