EBay Auction Ends For £1,800

The rare footage from Gleneagles has finished for £1,800 on eBay earlier today.

The unique video captures a demo gig given by the Burnage rockers to Sony music executives back in February 1994 at Gleneagles in Scotland - before the release of their first single.

Drummer: Definitely Pay Me

Oasis coughed up £348,000 to sacked drummer Alan White.

Noel and Liam told the sticksman to beat it in 2004, after nine years with the band.

The huge pay-off, revealed in newly released accounts, was made to keep the furious drummer sweet and buy him out of the lads’ company Definitely Maybe.

At the time, frontman Liam said the axe fell because Alan chose his missus over the band.

He said: “Turns out he’s hanging out with his bird in Spain.

“Once the word bird and Spain are mentioned together it’s like, OK, Oasis vs girlfriend.”

Some Might Say that sounds a tad hypocritical from the bloke who cancelled a gig after a tiff with his brother!

Still, it’s not like the Gallaghers can’t afford huge pay-offs to sacked band members every now and then.

And it looked like Liam was spending big on Friday too, when he went shopping in London’s Bond Street with girlfriend NICOLE APPLETON. The pair visited posh jewellers Tiffany & Co. Do I sense a wedding in the air? They are not saying. Or maybe Liam bought a Mother’s Day trinket for Nic. Whatever, I bet it cost a pretty penny.

Alan may consider he’s got a few quid now too — but he may Look Back In Anger . . .

That £348,000 doesn’t come close to the amount previous drummer TONY McCARROLL was paid when axed in 1995.

Tony had threatened to sue the band for £18Million in lost royalties. He eventually walked away with £550,000.

The recently released company accounts show Alan’s pay-off and payments of £300,000 to Liam and Noel meant Definitely Maybe, their touring and merchandising company, made a loss of £948,383 in 2005.

Fortunately Liam and Noel’s company Big Brother Recordings is the main cash cow.

They’re still rolling in it, as well as with it.

Bootleg Crook's £564,000 Seized

Crook who ripped off Robbie Williams, Oasis and the Rolling Stones has dirty money fortune seized.

A Scots music man who faces losing the £1million fortune he made from bootleg CDs of concerts by Robbie Williams, Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones.

Peter Cruickshank, 46, has run stalls at record fairs across Britain and Ireland for 10 years.

He protests his trade is only a hobby and appears to live modestly in his mother's house. But he owns an MG sports car and other vehicles and is building a villa in Marbella.

He was caught in December 2003 with £30,000 of bootleg CDs in a van at Stranraer's ferry terminal.

His haul included live recordings of Led Zeppelin, Abba, Aerosmith, Beach Boys, David Gray, Elvis, Eagles, Iron Maiden, Manic Street Preachers, Pink Floyd, Robbie Williams, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Bon Jovi, Eminem, Oasis, Paul Weller and Queen.

Now Cruickshank has had the proceeds from his trade - worth £564,000 - frozen by the Crown Office.

The music industry loses £165million a year from piracy and bootlegging.

A British Phonographic Institute spokesman said: "These lost sales amount to the combined legal sales of the top 13 best-selling albums in the UK last year."

Bootleg CDs of Oasis' performance at the Brits in January appeared on eBay within an hour.

Last night Cruickshank, who lives in his mum's house in Bearsden, Glasgow, claimed he had quit.
He said: "They have frozen everything, including the van and car.

"Most of my money is from legitimate sources such as selling back catalogues and deletions.

"Only about 20 per cent of it was from bootlegging. But I did not keep accounts for six years or pay tax and the authorities would rather chaseme than real criminals.

"I am only breaking copyright regulations but record companies are spending millions of pounds to try to catch people like me."

The former bus company worker claims he made most of his money when he invested his redundancy payout in 1990 by buying the entire stock of a London record company.

He said: "I bought bootleg CDs in bulk from Italy. I don't make them myself. We've tried to reach a settlement on what I owe but the Crown want everything." The Crown Office confirmed they are seeking a confiscation order.

In 1998 police raided Cruickshank's home and took 50,000 pirate CDs and cassettes, worth £500,000. But he was not prosecuted.

In 2000 Cruickshank was caught selling 2000 CDs on a stall at Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre and fined £600.

Last week he was given a year's deferred sentence for selling illegal recordings after pleading guilty at Stranraer Sheriff Court.

It follows years of investigation by police, trading standards officers and the British Phonographic Institute. A BPI investigator said: "These guys are making more money than major drug dealers."

Top 5 bootlegs:

1. THE BEATLES: Anthology Plus - recordings of studio sessions for the BBC in the mid-1960s.

2. LED ZEPPELIN: Rare Zep concerts can cost hundreds but most sought after are BBC sessions.

3. BOB DYLAN: The most prized bootleg is a 1966 recording, Live At The Royal Albert Hall.

4. THE ROLLING STONES: A 1969 tape, Stoned In The Park, of a Hyde Park concert in London, when Mick Jagger paid tribute to drowning victim Brian Jones fetches big money.

5. PRINCE: A studio recording, The Black Album, planned as a follow up to Sign Of The Times was huge on the blackmarket before being officially released in 1994.

The confiscation order means Peter Cruickshank could lose all his assets under the Proceeds of Crime Act:

Two white Transit vans £50,000

One MG sports car £20,000

Holiday home in Marbella £220,000

Shares, bank accounts, investments and personal possessions £276,000

Total £566,000

He also faces a £500,000 bill from the Customs and Inland Revenue to cover years of unpaid tax.

Wonderbrawl

Noel Gallagher's ex-wife Meg Matthews is planning to release an album called Wonderbrawl.

The interior designer - who was the inspiration for Oasis hit Wonderwall - has been attending music therapy sessions with her friends in London's Primrose Hill.

A source told the Daily Star: "Meg and some of the other Primrose Hill crew have been really enjoying these music therapy sessions. They're primarily designed to help people express emotions but they've also produced some pretty good tunes.

"One of Meg's favourites was a ballad about a row she had with Noel when they were breaking up. A friend said she could call it Wonderbrawl! Now she's talking about putting a whole album together under that title. She's good friends with Noel now and it's all down to this self-growth."

Punkband Records Wonderwall Cover

In covering the Oasis hit “Wonderwall” for the compilation album “Punk Goes ’90s,” the band Cartel was making a subtle point.

“I’m the youngest member of the band at 22, but we are old souls,” said Cartel’s Will Pugh. “We’re not like Sum 41 or Simple Plan. The bands we admire and want to be like are Pearl Jam or Oasis.”

Cartel’s youthful pop, exemplified in the band’s burgeoning hit “Honestly,” has caught on within the likewise youthful pop-punk crowd, but songs such as “The Minstrel’s Prayer” and epic two-part “Q” and “A” reveal something deeper within the band’s sound........

Noel Prepares

Noel Gallagher is prepared for fatherhood - this time.

The Oasis guitarist, who announced on last week he is expecting a baby with girlfriend Sara McDonald, recently admitted it felt like a "bad dream" when he had his first child, seven-year-old daughter Anais, with ex-wife Meg Matthews.

He told BBC Radio 1: "Your whole life changes forever in a blink of an eye. Girls have nine months to prepare for being a mother. Whereas blokes think up until the last minute that it's all a mistake. That someone is going to come in and say, 'Come through to this room sir, it's all been a bad dream.' But it doesn't happen and you think, 'Oh bugger.' You really do."

The couple, who have been dating for seven years, waited until after Sara had her three month scan and knew the baby was OK before telling family and friends the joyous news.

Noel's brother and Oasis bandmate Liam has three children, son Gene with his fiancée Nicole Appleton, son Lennon with his ex-wife Patsy Kensit and daughter Molly, who was conceived after Liam had a brief fling with singer Lisa Moorish in 1998.

She told Virgin Radio's Christian O'Connell yesterday: "He does like a sing-song, especially (Oasis's) Champagne Supernova.

"He sings at the top of his voice around the house." Please Wayne, save it for the shower...

Russell Watson Covers Wonderwall At Hometown Show

Coming close to death is bound to change a man – and for Salford’s original pop-opera god Russell Watson it means a vibrant new lease of life.

Fans may have feared his diagnosis with a brain tumour last September would keep the self-taught tenor out of the spotlight.

But clearly Russell’s remarkable recovery has been spurred on by a determination to get back on stage, entertaining fans – just six months after treatment.

And back at the M.E.N. Arena on Saturday night it was stirring stuff from the man they call "The Voice".

Bounding onto the stage in an all-black suit to open his homecoming show with That’s Life, there is the vigour and enthusiasm of a man who knows he’s been given a second chance at life.

The concert was a good mix of his new "swing" songs from his latest album like Smile and Let There Be Love, and the classical greats that made his name – highlights are Panis Angelicus and Ave Maria, with Russell backed by his live orchestra.

The conclusion is his perfecto Nessun Dorma – that leads to a double encore just for that song alone. We then get an impressive four more encores – including a rip-roaring Try A Little Tenderness and even a nod to Oasis – a beautifully melodic Wonderwall. The Gallaghers would be proud.

This was a triumphant return for Russell, his emphatic chance to prove The Voice has only be strengthened by his trials.

(What's The Story) Morning Glory? by Oasis came 124th on the list.

This is what they had to say about the album.

This big rock candy mountain of an album justifies some if by no means all of the poses and pretentious statements made by Manchester's natural-born rock & roll deities. A dramatic attempt to rekindle the flames of the original British Invasion, Morning Glory rolls 30 years of Britpop tradition into one irresistible (if achingly self-conscious) whole. "Wonderwall" can be read as a Beatles tribute, "Don't Look Back in Anger" feels like a Mott The Hoople anthem and "She's Electric" and "Morning Glory" are chewy pop confections.
