Mcfly's Tom Fletcher Reckons His Songwriting Skills Rival Noel Gallagher

Tom Fletcher, McFly's songwriter and frontman, has penned a truly extraordinary 10 number one singles.
That’s a staggering achievement for anyone, but for someone who is still only 22, it’s a feat that is nothing short of remarkable.
The acclaim awarded to similarly successful hit-makers like Gary Barlow and Guy Chambers is yet to be afforded to the youthful strummer.
And he’s not happy about it.
“I’m definitely not mentioned in the same breath as people like that,” he says.
Tom even reckons that his hit-penning ability rivals that of Noel Gallagher.
He says: “Someone once said to me that if OASIS had done Room On The Third Floor it would have been heralded as one of the greatest songs of all time. I said to them: ‘You could be right’. I see our music like that.”

Fame And Fortune Not About To Change Hatton

The walls of Hatton's home are adorned with memorabilia he has acquired over the years. Several years ago, he became a serious collector, and he has framed and autographed posters of some of his favorite actors and movies around his house, actors such as Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Sharon Stone and Clint Eastwood. There is a guitar on display at the bottom of his stairs, signed by the Gallagher brothers -- Liam and Noel -- of Oasis fame, who grew up about 15 minutes away. At their last concert two years ago at the City of Manchester Stadium, the band dedicated a song to Hatton.
"I was on holiday in Tenerife," Hatton explained, "and my phone started bleeping with text messages. There was a whole load of them, and I thought, 'Flippin' hell, what's this?' The next minute, someone rang, and I said, 'What's up?' They said, 'We're at the Oasis concert, and they just dedicated a song to you.' Apparently, Liam went up to the mike and went, 'Manchester, this one's for Ricky Hatton,' and the whole place erupted. It's incredible, really."

Sienna Miller's Love Duet With Rhys Ifans

Sienna Miller and Rhys Ifans are set to record a duet.
The pair, who are believed to have been dating since August, are planning to emulate their music idols Oasis and perform a romantic rock track.
A source said: "Rhys really likes Oasis, particularly Noel Gallagher so that's the kind of music he would like to make."
Sienna has always dreamed of being a famous singer and is confident of chart success with Rhys. The source added to Britain's Daily Express newspaper: "Sienna really enjoys singing and always wanted to be a rock star. Rhys has been very encouraging and convinced her to do something about pursuing her dreams."
Rhys, who plays the guitar, was in the original line-up for Welsh band the Super Furry Animals. The 'Notting Hill' actor recently returned to the recording studio to work on new material with his former bandmate, drummer Dafydd Ieuan.
Rhys is close friends with Oasis stars Noel and Liam Gallagher and famously starred in the video for their UK number one single 'The Importance of Being Idle'.

Russell Brand Ribs Noel Gallagher About His Stalker

Any admirers of the back-combed, snake-hipped lothario who had been caught unawares by the extent to which he likes to interact with the audience during and after the show last time the Essex playboy was in town, were certainly not going to let another opportunity slip them by.
Dressed to the nines (and then some) Manchester singletons did their up most to catch his eye from the moment he flounced on stage and immediately set about integrating with the audience with a spontaneous walkabout.
And to be fair, it’s not difficult to see why his magnetic pull is so strong, as the 32-year-old positive drips with sexual charisma and yet like his hero Morrissey, still manages to remain somewhat enigmatic.
Despite suffering from a cold - the dreaded man-flu I assume - Brand got off to a flyer.
When you’ve got Noel Gallagher’s number on your person it would be churlish not to capitalise on it in the Oasis man’s home town, so after getting no joy with his mobile he, relieved, struck gold on his landline and proceeded to rib him about a reported stalker who had apparently claimed to have penned Noel songs.
Noel, as ever, gave as good as he got before returning to his boiling kettle!
After pulling up a bar stool Russell then delved into the pages of the South Manchester Reporter for inspiration, but devoid of any Red Top-type shenanigans he started to struggle, instead borrowing a fresh-faced teen called Ben’s mobile in an attempt to ring a Chorlton curry house to explain the claims in their advert.

Liam Gallagher On His Favourite John Lennon Track
The January issue of UNCUT is on sale now, featuring an all-star panel of musicians selecting their favourite song by the late Beatle John Lennon.
30: Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy)
From the John Lennon & Yoko Ono album, Double Fantasy (November 1980)
Written for son Sean, then aged five, and partially inspired by the writings of French psychologist Emile Coue, "Beautiful Boy" sees Lennon extolling the simple joy of fatherhood.
Liam Gallagher, Oasis
"Little James was inspired by "Beautiful Boy" and "Hey Jude". More "Beautiful Boy".
People who've got any soul will realise that there's a day when you go home and put your feet up and cuddle your kids. If anyone slags it off, they've either got no heart or they don't know what the meaning of life is.
They just go out and do-do-do-do-do the same thing everyday. So f**K them. You can't win with these people.
They're going, "You're the wild man of rock, you're this, you don't f**king care," and when you do show a bit of caring, they call you a poof...
Originally, I wanted it to be acoustic. Have you heard Lennon's demos? They're dead crackly, and it's just on the guitar, and that's the way I'd like to write music. But if it's gonna be on an Oasis album, it's gotta be big, hasn't it?
So then I played it to Noel, he went away with the band and he goes: "What do you think of this?"
I went: It's f**king top."

Oasis To Play Oxegen Festival?

The first tickets for next year's Oxegen festival went on general sale yesterday morning, causing the thoughts of music fans to briefly wander from the cold winter weather to the-- hopefully -- sun drenched fields of Punchestown next summer.
And the indications were that fans wouldn't be put off by the prospect of a repeat of this year's washout, because the 'early bird' tickets for the now three-day event were reported to selling well.
"We expected it to sell out straight away but it didn't," a ticket seller in the Stephen's Green Shopping centre told the Irish Independent. "But they have been selling consistently throughout the day."
The 'early bird' tickets are being sold at last year's prices of €197.50 plus booking fee for a limited time.
Fans registered on the Oxegen website had the chance to buy their tickets as part of an internet only pre-sale from midnight last Tuesday to seven yesterday morning.
The first act for the Kildare festival has already been announced with the Kings of Leon, who played two dates in Dublin's RDS this week, voted by Oxegen fans as the band they most wanted to see in an online poll.
Promoters MCD say the band was immediately booked in response to the demand. "This is the first time ever the fans have selected a line-up for a festival," MCD's Justin Green said.
"The Kings of Leon topped the poll of the most requested act that the fans wanted to see. We're giving more choice to the fans."
Fans will also be able to choose which campsite they want to buy tickets for -- something MCD says increases choice for fans.
The full line-up for the festival will not be announced until February but early speculation has thrown up names like the Verve, Kaiser Chiefs, Oasis, Franz Ferdinand, REM, Massive Attack, Orson and the Foo Fighters.
