Rare Zanzibar Club Bootleg From 2003 Surfaces

On May 3, 2003, Noel Gallagher took to the stage and performed his historic gig at the Zanzibar club in Liverpool. Prior to the gig, he had taken the opportunity in several radio interviews to promote the greatness of the newly written song “Stop the Clocks.” In the middle of his set list that night, in between performing “Talk Tonight” and “Wonderwall”, and then “Don’t Look Back in Anger” and “Married With Children”, Noel performed the song he had spoken so much about, and a legend was born.

Over the years, an audio recording of the Zanzibar concert never surfaced. Some fans even began to doubt that the concert ever took place, or that the song had been performed that night.

L4E has obtained a recording of Wonderwall (*recorded at the Zanzibar club in 2003). Noel can clearly be heard introducing Stop the Clocks on it.

After the song, Noel says: “Thank you... so anyway.” Then Noel plays a chord on the acoustic guitar and utters the words that the crowd will never forget: "This next song is called 'Stop the Clocks.'" During the song, Gem is playing what sounds like backwards guitar with reverb or an echo effect. It's different than the backwards guitar heard in the song "Who Feels Love", but has the same psychedelic feel, with bongo drums being played by Terry.

More On The Wellerbretta

Photo Source: Richard Lunt official photographer for Scootering Monthly Via Pete Mckee.

Last week I posted a interview with the artist Pete Mckee (Here.) and I was bombarded with various emails from Paul Weller & Scooter fans for more information and pictures of the scooter.

I also found out a bit more information on the scooter on springfair.com

Not quite content with painting a 10ft guitar for the Gibson Guitar Town exhibition in London’s South Bank on behalf of Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher, Pete McKee has turned his artistic attentions to scooters. On display at his stand in Hall 12 is a full-size hand-painted scooter featuring some of McKee’s cartoon-style pop art, which has been signed by the Modfather Paul Weller.

McKee transformed the 1968 Lambretta scooter, which he salvaged from his friend’s garage, by hand-painting his designs directly onto the bodywork of the scooter. The artwork had to be given three intricate coats by hand before it was finished. “I treated it like it were a canvas, a large work of art,” he said.

During a visit to Weller’s studio, the former The Jam and Style Council front man agreed to sign the handlebars of the scooter. McKee’s work, which is often inspired by music, has earned him a growing celebrity following.

'To Be Someone' is the name of the scooter, after The Jam song.

Thanks to Pete Mckee & Richard Lunt.

We've created a new Facebook fan page; begun uploading all the band's classic videos to their YouTube channel and created a new skin for their Bebo page. These sites, along with their page at MySpace, will continue to be updated with new content as well as all the latest news, so why not check them out!

We've also launched a brand new competition to win a selection of Limited Edition Promotional CD's and Vinyl. These have never been available in the shops so are a must-have for any Oasis fan's collection. All you have to do is watch a video of the band talking about one of their songs. If you think you know which track it is, email your answer to mailto:thefans@oasisinet.com or enter via the 'Competitions Page' on Oasisinet.

In other news, 'Definitely Maybe' was voted the best album of the last 50 years by the readers of the UK's Q Magazine with '(What's The Story) Morning Glory?' being voted the second! 'Don't Believe The Truth' and 'Be Here Now' also came in the top 25! We'd like to thank all the fans who voted for this.

To buy these albums, and other music by the band, click here for 7 Digital and here for iTunes.

We have also added a unique version of 'Wonderwall' available for listening and adding on the band's MySpace page. This was from Noel and Gem's performance at Union Chapel on 26th November 2006 and is a rare recording of Noel performing Ryan Adam's arrangement of the Oasis classic.

Liam Gallagher Gets Plucked

Liam Gallagher has been preened and pampered after spending an entire day at an LA spa.

The Oasis star is even said to have sampled some waxing on his chest and eyebrows.

Liam, 35, has been in the US with his older brother Noel, 40, to record their seventh album and sources say he booked into the plush Four Seasons hotel spa last week.

Our stateside spy said: "Liam enjoyed some swimming in the morning and checked into the beauty spa area before lunch.

And as well as the usual back massage and pedicure, he was also treated to some reflexology and waxing.

Liam spent just over seven hours there as he'd been working in the studio all night. It was just what he needed."

Exclusive Interview With Pete Mckee

stopcryingyourheartout.com has been lucky enough to interview Sheffield artist Pete Mckee.

We quiz him about the artwork he has done for Oasis, the 10ft guitar he painted for Gibson Guitartown, meeting Paul Weller, Steve Cradock, Noel & Gem Archer in Weller's studio and more.

Q: How did you get onto painting your cartoons?
A: Out of Necessity, I was skint and I wanted to give my mate a good birthday present.

Q: How did you go about getting Noel Gallagher to see your artwork?
A: I was cheeky and sent him a print, I'm sure he and Liam gets inundated with gifts, so it blew my mind when he got in contact with me.

Q: The 10 Foot Les Paul guitar that you did for Noel for Gibson Guitartown last year was simply superb and went for over £3000 at auction. Do you know who bought it and did it surprise you it went for so much?
A: I believe the Teenage Cancer Trust bought it and I was over the moon that I was able to help raise the money.

Q. What was it like to have your artwork on display with such great artists as Sir Peter Blake, Gerald Scarff, Rosie Brooks and many others?
A: It' was rather a proud moment to have my guitar stood next to Sir Peter Blake's, though I was more proud that Noel asked me to do the painting in the first place.

Q: Is it true that you caught Paul Weller's eye with the guitar that you did for Noel?
A: I think he was rather taken by it, especially as his was rather plain, but that's just my opinion.
Q: I saw on your website www.petemckee.com that you met Noel & Gem at Paul Weller's studio earlier this year. That must have been a great experience...
A: One of the most serial mornings of my life, It sort of didn't sink in really, as it wasn't planed. You tell yourself that these people are just the same as you but in reality they are the two people who've help play the sound track to my life, so you can't help but feel a little star struck. Paul Weller, Steve Cradock, Noel and Gem are proper gents.

Q: Are there any other musicians that you would like to work with?
A: I'm a massive fan of Edwyn Collins, who suffered a massive stroke a couple of years ago, I'd love to work with him as I have immense respect for him and his work.

Q: Noel must have been thrilled with the work you did for the guitar to let you do a gig poster and limited edition print. Did you pick the gig? And why that one.. And are they going to be a part of a series celebrating some of the bands legendary shows?.
A: Not sure why that one was picked, so your guess is as good as mine on that one, though I can tell you I did about 9 different designs for the poster and that was the one Noel and the lads picked.

Q: Is there a story behind the image of the print?
A: I sort of imagined this fan taking a day trip to Brighton for the gig and have a few hours to spend before the gig, so entertains himself by arising around on a few kids rides.

Q: Have you heard anything positive from the band on the print?
A: I know they like it.

Q: I have seen posts on various Oasis forums and sites for you to do the artwork for the next album. If Noel gave you a call to do ask you to do it, would you take him up on his offer?
A: Like a flippin shot. I'm touched that people have mentioned it. I'd like to think that most Oasis fans could relate to my work as like the band we are all working class kids.

Q: What's your favorite album by Oasis?
A: I'm old school so it's (What's the Story) Morning Glory?

Q: What's your favorite track by Oasis?
A: I'm going to say She's Electric. Because I love the story in that song, it's like how I hope my painting look.

Q: Are there any other projects you are working on at the moment that you can tell us about.?
A: I'm currently painting my little fingers off on a new exhibition called 33 and a 3rd. and is all about music, both watching it, playing it and wearing the clothes. It's in Sheffield and is launched on April 13th at the Forum.

Q: I saw on Wikipedia that you were commissioned by Acme studios to interpret characters from US TV shows The Simpsons, Family Guy and Futurama. How did that come about? And what does it evole?
A: It's still in the pipeline and has been for 12 months now, they must do things differently over their. But I got the job when I exhibited in New York and the guys saw my work there.

Q: Finally did you enjoy the Game between Sheffield Wednesday and United enough a few weeks ago, to do a painting on it?
A: I've done enough Wednesday paintings for the mo' so I shall just bask in the glory.

Pete's Weller Lambretta (pictured) has a big feature in April's edition of Scootering Magazine, visit www.petemckee.com for more details and visit the official Oasis store HERE to have a look at the 1994 Brighton Gig posters and prints.

Special thanks to Pete Mckee for finding the time in his busy schedule for the interview, it is gratefully appreciated.

Noel Gallagher Buys Guns In LA To Pursue Shooting Hobby

Their bouts of brotherly fisticuffs are legendary. But hard-knock Liam Gallagher had better think twice before squaring up to Noel in future - now that his big brother is armed and dangerous...

We can sensationally reveal that 40-year-old Noel - supposedly one of the last true rock 'n' rollers - has been stocking up on guns in LA so that he can follow his country pursuits as a tweed-wearing toff.

Noel, who is in LA recording the next Oasis album, is so excited about his new past-time, he has been texting his pal Tom Meighan - lead singer of Kasabian - to tell him all about it.

A baffled Tom, 27, tells us: "He sent me a text about going shooting in America, and about how scared he was of shooting himself.

"I've not heard from Noel in a while, so as soon as he's finished recording in LA it would be nice to meet up and find out what happened. He was going to get some guns and rifles I think. It was supposed to be a leisurely day out or hobby to get stuck into."

Yet Noel is not the only rocker with aspirations to be an English gent. At last month's Brits the Arctic Monkeys turned up in country attire, all breaches and flat-caps.

And let's not forget who kicked off the craze - 49-year-old Madonna. She and hubby Guy Ritchie used to invite Brad Pitt and Vinnie Jones - who taught her to shoot in the first place - to their estate on the Wiltshire-Dorset border to join them in their, er, country pursuits.

Of course, Noel could just be arming himself for protection incase he has any more run-ins with ageing Grease heroes.

We revealed yesterday how he had a knife pulled on him by Jeff Conaway - aka Kenickie - backstage at a Marilyn Manson gig in LA.

Tom adds: "I heard about that. How mad is that, having Kenickie from Grease pull a knife out on you?"

Grease Star Jeff Conaway Pulls A Knife On Noel Gallagher

The Gallagher brothers are known to enjoy a good old scrap, but Noel needs to pick his fights a bit more carefully.

When he decided to take the mickey out of ageing Grease star Jeff Conaway - aka Kenickie - the Oasis rocker had a knife pulled on him!

It all kicked off backstage at a Marilyn Manson concert in LA.

Noel and Liam were knocking back absinthe when they were interrupted by Jeff, waving his walking stick.

They should have sussed he was trouble - Jeff, 57, appeared raging in a wheelchair on US TV show Celebrity Rehab, battling addictions to cocaine and alcohol.

Instead they scoffed.

Noel tells Russell Brand's Radio 2 show: "Kenickie shouted, 'I've had four back operations, you know.' "So I said, 'So get yourself out of that wheelchair then!' "He said, 'I've had four operations but I can still pull a knife on you.' And he pulled out a big blade.

We thought: 'You're going down, Kenickie.'"

Keith Richards Finds Oasis' Music 'Tinny'

London, March 3 (ANI): English rocker Keith Richards says that he does not like the kind of music modern bands compose.

Launching an attack on bands like Arctic Monkeys and Oasis, the Richards said that he prefers listening to country and blues genres.

The The Rolling Stones star insists that these are the genres that should be on vinyl.

I dont listen to whats going on. I dont like CDs, quite honestly. They sound tinny to me, British tabloid Daily Express quoted him as telling Uncut magazine in an interview about Shine A Light, Martin Scorseses documentary about the band.

Ive not even heard the Arctic Monkeys. I know of them but I dont know anything theyve done. I didnt like Oasis, I didnt like the Sex Pistols, I dont like any of those English rocknroll bands. Theyre all c***, the 64-year-old star said.

The report also suggested that Richards was not keeping track of his rocknroll contemporaries.

When he was asked to comment on the recent Led Zeppelin reunion concert, Richards said: They had one? Well, well done, Jimmy and Robert. (ANI)
