Mark Ronson Takes Swipe At Noel Gallagher

Mark Ronson has hit back at Noel Gallagher's jibe that he should "learn three chords on the guitar and write a tune - instead of ruining everybody else's".

Mark posted on his blog:

Oh, Noel.....

noel gallagher said i should "learn three chords on the guitar and go write a tune". so i just wanted him to know that i'm actually taking guitar lessons from Jay-Z right now and he's already taught me both chords to "Wonderwall" (tune!). in fact, it's so much fun having Jay teach me all of noel's songs on the guitar (hooray!) that i"m thinking of doing an Oasis/Jay Z remix album a la "The Grey Album". Potential titles are "Champagne Superhova" or "Definitely Jay Z"*. I'll keep you posted....

Sunday August 17

BBC Radio 6Music (The Music Week)

1pm - 2pm (UK)

Noel Gallagher chats about the new Oasis album in an exclusive interview for The Music Week.

Noel takes Julie Cullen through the making of their "biblical" new LP, explaining how Oasis went glam and from where the band now draws its inspiration.

'Oasis' The Musical Coming Soon

Noel Gallagher wants to make an Oasis musical.

The guitarist - whose bandmates include singer brother Liam, guitarist Gem Archer, bassist Andy Bell and drummer Chris Sharrock - thinks the group's songs would make a fantastic soundtrack to a stage show.

He said: "Oasis the musical has got to happen at some point - five lads who shook Manchester. 'Roll With It - The Musical'. Ben Elton's got to have six months on his own soon. He can write it then!"

As well as his musical ambitions, Noel admits he was recently offered the chance to appear on controversial UK TV programme 'The Jeremy Kyle Show'.

The 41-year-old musician explained: "I met Jeremy Kyle when I was in the Granada studios in Manchester doing something and he came up to me with a completely straight face and said, 'When are we going to get you and your brother on the show?' That would be brilliant wouldn't it?

"He'd go, 'You never turn up to rehearsals do you? You haven't turned up to rehearsals in eight years, have you? Have you? You write all the songs, you have held him back for eight years.' He wasn't joking!"

Time For A Change Of Clothes, Noel Gallagher

Noel Gallagher stumbled into Radio 1 - to plug Oasis's new single, The Shock Of The Lightning - after only two hours' sleep and wearing last night's clothes.

And in true rock star fashion he started slagging off someone else's band.

About Kaiser Chiefs he told Chris Moyles: "I mean, I done drugs for 18 years - 365 days in a row for 18 years - and I never got that bad I would go 'You know, I think Kaiser Chiefs are brilliant!'"

Fans Face Long Night Waiting For Gold-Dust Tickets To Oasis Gig

Band’s return trip to Aberdeen expected to sell out fast

Legions of Oasis fans will queue through the night next week to try to get their hands on gold-dust tickets for their heroes’ long-awaited return to the Granite City.

The Gallagher brothers confirmed yesterday they would be making a fourth trip to the north-east in the autumn.

Oasis will play two nights at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre’s Press and Journal Arena on November 1 and 2.

The scramble for the 17,000 tickets begins at 9am on Wednesday.

No more than 500 tickets for each night will be made available to buy at the venue that morning. The rest can be booked on the internet or by phone.

Both gigs are expected to sell out in minutes.

Brian Horsburgh, acting manager director at the AECC, said last night: “Oasis still hold the record for selling tickets faster than any other concert in Aberdeen, which was as fast as physically possible at the time.

“We have absolutely no doubt that tickets will be sold out within a couple of hours on Wednesday.”

The UK tour will coincide with the release of the Manchester band’s seventh studio album, Dig Out Your Soul, due out in October.

Noel Gallagher revealed details of the tour during a lively appearance on Chris Moyles’s Radio 1 breakfast show yesterday. Not one for keeping things bottled up, he went on to reveal his feelings for pop contemporaries Amy Winehouse (“a destitute horse”), Mark Ronson (“he needs to write his own tunes instead of ruining everyone else’s”) and Scouting for Girls (“Scouting for Idiots”). He added: “I did drugs for 18 years and I never got that bad as to say ‘You know what? I think the Kaiser Chiefs are brilliant’.”

Other big names heading for the AECC this year. Others include Stereophonics and Paul Weller.

Tickets for Oasis, priced £38.50 each plus booking fee, can be bought by calling 08444 779000 or from www.aecc.co.uk after 9am on Wednesday.

The gigs are for over-14s only and under-16s must be accompanied by an adult.

Ticket sales are limited to four per buyer, or two in person at the AECC.

Oasis In Talks Over Manchester Gig

Oasis are in talks to play Manchester, the M.E.N. can reveal.

It had been thought the Gallagher brothers had snubbed their home city after confirming their long-awaited British tour - without a date here.

And with the first night of the 18 dates scheduled to take place in Liverpool, it appeared as if salt had been rubbed in the wound.

But now the Manchester Evening News has learned there are plans for Noel and Liam to play a major venue in the city, although the exact location has not been finalised.

A spokesman for the band said: "On the last tour they played to nearly 200,000 people in Manchester and the shows were amazing. This is the first leg of a very long tour."

The British dates will follow the return of the band from a string of concerts in North America and Canada, which will take in cities such as Seattle, Vancouver and Toronto.

They begin the British leg of the tour on October 7 - the day after the release of their latest studio album, Dig Out Your Soul. It will take in Liverpool, Sheffield, Birmingham, London, Bournemouth, Cardiff, Belfast, Aberdeen and Glasgow.

In 2005, Oasis - fronted by City fans Liam and Noel - played three sell-out nights at the City of Manchester Stadium. In 2006, Noel returned to perform in fan Ben Hayes' front room, in Poynton, as part of a competition run by BBC Radio 1.

Ben, 23, who now lives in Didsbury, has already seen the band play 11 times.

He said: "I am sure they must have a surprise for Manchester.

"There's no way they would leave out Manchester."

Drunk Noel Lets Rip On Radio 1

It may not be up there with throwing TVs out of hotel windows, but Noel Gallagher was well and truly hammered on Radio 1 today.

Chris Moyles interviewed the Oasis songwriter as the band premiered their comeback single The Shock Of The Lightening on air.

But having had an hour’s kip after a night on the razz in Soho, Noel wasn’t exactly on form.

He slagged off fellow chart-toppers Kaiser Chiefs and raved on about launching his perfume called Eau de Toerag.

The cheeky star also said Russell Brand smells like garlic, alcohol and sweat - while Jady Goody stinks of stale urine.

As he continued to slur his words the crew pumped him full of coffee, but to no avail.

Noel rambled on about his love for David Beckam and his disdain for Ronan Keating.

He couldn’t resist a dig at Mark Ronson, saying he needs to buy a guitar, learn three chords and write his own material - instead of ruining other people’s songs.

The Mancunian affectionately referred to Amy WinehouseE as a destitute horse, but refused to comment on Peaches Geldolf's quickie wedding out of respect for Sir Bob.

But he couldn't bite his tongue when it came to the "overpaid" DJ, and Noel kept asking Chris how much he earned.

Liam's brother then revealed the funniest thing in the world is watching a dog poke his head out the car when it is moving.

Noel also said the reason Oasis are not playing the O2 Arena on their upcoming tour is because of nachos.

The band announced their Dig Out Your Soul UK tour this morning, revealing Wembley Arena as their London date instead.

He said: "You'll see the O2 isn't in there. The O2, it's too corporate. I went there for Led Zeppelin - it was good, but there were people walking around with nachos, it's not rock 'n' roll!"

Gallagher Ronson Needs To Write His Own Songs

Oasis star Noel Gallagher has slammed producer Mark Ronson for covering other artists' songs - insisting he should write his own tracks.

The rocker is riled by Ronson scoring hits with tunes including Stop Me with singer Daniel Merriweather - a reworking of The Smiths' 1987 Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before - and his duet with Amy Winehouse, Valerie. That track was a cover of British band The Zutons' song of the same name.

Gallagher, who also dismissed troubled Winehouse as a "destitute horse", said during a recent radio interview: "He (Ronson) wants to write his own tunes instead of everyone else's. He needs to learn three chords on the guitar and go and write a tune."

A Drunken Noel Gallagher On The Chris Moyles Show This Morning

Noel Gallagher celebrated finishing his latest album in true rock'n'roll style last night by staying up most of the night on a booze bender after a fan club gig - before going to do a live interview on Chris Moyles' Radio 1 breakfast show while still drunk.

The Oasis mainman had been partying at London's swanky Groucho Club until daybreak before arriving at the Radio 1 studios just up the road off Great Portland Street.

Noel has just finished the latest Oasis album Dig Out Your Soul, which comes out on October 6 and the first single from it, The Shock Of The Lightning, was played for the first time on Moyle's show too.

To listen to the interview, click here.

In the meantime, here's a transcript of some of the best bits of their hilarious conversation.

(About what Noel did last night)

Moyles: What time did you get to bed?

Noel: Quarter to six, (slurring) what time is it?

Moyles: Seven minutes past eight! So you only got two hours?

Noel: Yeah just a bit

Moyles: So were you out last night?

Noel: We did a little gig for about 150 fans from our fan club, the last 150 fans left who could be bothered to turn up...A friend of mine, the 2nd biggest ticket tout in England, officially, was having a fight with some Spanish guy, the 3rd biggest Spanish ticket tout, they were rolling around the street at 6 o clock in the morning, not the best...that's just an average night, I was saying to my missus, I'm too old for this. Scully good morning, he'll still be up trying to justify his obnoxious behaviour. He's just got back from ticket touting in China, he made seven grand.

Moyles: What concert was it?

Noel: It was the opening ceremony. Let's just say we don't condone ticket touting, first come first served, second come pay over the odds, the early bird catches the ticket.

(About the new single)

Noel: Took me ten minutes to write that...eight minutes.

(About the new Oasis drummer)

N: It's Zack on the drums, but now we got a new drummer (Chris Sharrock), I've known Chris for years, when Alan White got the boot by Liam, we actually offered it to Chris, I've known Chris for years, he's brilliant, no we don't audition, it's like you know the songs, can you do it? Can you put up with Liam's nonsense 7 hours in a row? Yep.

C: Zack is now Robbie Williams' drummer, a straight swap

N: Robbie's still officially on strike isn't he? From being brilliant

(laughs)

C: Can't believe you nicked Robbie's drummer!

N: He's just a session drummer, he's not Robbie's drummer

(About being drunk)

C: You're in a good mood today

N: I'm still drunk!

Oasis Fan Only Gig Review

stoptheclocks members on the secret Oasis gig last night...

Els on the gig

We arrived, they bussed us to the location, gave us wristbands, put our phones into named envelopes, and gave us three drinks tokens and ear plugs.

Then we arrive in the studio, a surprise, they played the entire dig out your soul album to warm up! SO heavy and, moody is the word??

Lots of oasis family there. Sara, Nicole, Paul G, Marcus, Phil etc. And gene g!

Oasis come on straight after, rock and roll star! Here's what I remember of the setlist:

Rock and roll star
Lyla
Shock of the lightning
Cigs and alcohol
Ain't got nothing
My big mouth
Slide away (liam sung)
Falling down
Importance of idle
Don't look back (slow and acoustic)
Supersonic
Champagne supernova
Liam's new one about Lennon (I'm Outta Time, I think altho not 100% sure)
The masterplan
Wonderwall
Songbird
Supersonic
I am the walrus to finish

Probably more but I can't remember!

Set ended with liam walking through the crowd- prolly 100 people- and kissing Nicole by the bar.

Liam on great form, good voice!

On the bus driving home!

I had a quick chat to Marcus Russell, I asked him if they'd do another knebworth he said massive shows next year but not another knebworth as too big for everyone concerned!!

King Eric The Second on the gig

Just got back, just an incredible night. It's kind of hollow in a way, because I'm never going to see my favourite band like that again. I was pretty much at the front, I'm not exaggerating when I say I could reach out and touch Liam.

The new album sounded pretty good on first listen, pretty rocky start. Bag It Up sounded pretty heavy. There's a bit in it which goes 'More, More, Mooore' just before the chorus, sounded like Lady Marmalade! Stand outs from the album for me were Bag It Up, The Turning, Waiting For The Rapture (which was like a more refined Force of Nature), Shock of the Lightening, I'm Outta Time (which is a perfect single, should be huge) and Falling Down. Some of the others are probably growers, not instant hits.

The gig was perfect, Liam sounded fucking spot on, the best he's sounded in years. The new stuff was excellent live, Slide Away was done to almost perfection, couldn't believe it when they played My Big Mouth, although like someone said, it wasn't as heavy as the album version. They also played Waiting For The Rapture live, which wasn't on the setlist above. Nicole brought the little un down the front for Lyla, and was pretty much stood next to us. Also spotted the blonde one from Sugababes, Dave Berry her fella, and Tamsin whatsername from Eastenders. When Liam left the stage at the end I managed to shake his hand, won't be washing that tonight.

All in all, just a mental experience. Like Noel said at one point 'Next time you see us live you'll be miles away'. I never thought I'd see Oasis that close, and I don't think I ever will again.

Oasis UK Tour To Start In Liverpool

OASIS will open their mammoth world tour in Manchester’s rival city.

The band are to play the first night of their huge tour in Liverpool’s new Echo Arena on October 7.

A source revealed: “They are proud of their roots, but they dig Liverpool too and thought they would kick it off there.”

Some fans will be surprised to hear NOEL and LIAM GALLAGHER have picked Liverpool to launch their record-breaking stint on the road.

But the band are fans of the city’s culture and music. It’s the home of THE BEATLES after all.

Oasis are mates with THE CORAL and new drummer CHRIS SHARROCK used to play with THE LA’S.

Man U misery GARY NEVILLE won’t be happy. But that’s good news.

The tour will be a marathon one going on for nearly 18 months — as revealed in Bizarre last week.

After kicking off in Liverpool the day after the release of new album Dig Out Your Soul, the tour goes to Sheffield, Birmingham, London and Bournemouth.

It will then head to Cardiff, Belfast and Aberdeen before ending its first leg in Glasgow on November 5.

ON yer marks...! Tickets for all shows go on sale at 9am on Wednesday, August 20 on oasisinet.com or the Oasis 24-hour ticketline 0844 412 4638.

Liam's Looking A Haircut Above

Here's Liam Gallagher yesterday after finally sorting out his rubbish haircut.

For a while his barnet looked like a German Second World War helmet.

The Oasis frontman was snapped leaving his north London home for a band meeting.

There’s no chance he was off to rehearsals for the their upcoming tour, Liam has a rule that he doesn’t sing on Wednesdays.

Only he could get away with that.
