Noel Gallagher Asks Jose Mourinho To Consider Managing Manchester City

Noel Gallagher spoke to Portuguese radio station RFM earlier this week, ahead of Oasis' stop in Lisbon on February 15th.

In an interview with RFM, Noel spoke about Manchester City, Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo and his admiration for Jose Mourinho.

Noel said "I love him, I think we really miss him in England, I think he's a fantastic, manager and a fantastic personality. I think he talks total common sense , when he speaks about football. I would love to meet him."

The interviewer informed Noel that he is a listener to the show, Noel sent him a personal message on air.

"Mr Mourinho if you are indeed listening to this, this is Noel Gallagher from Oasis. I have been a lifetime Manchester City supporter, and there are rumours in the press you may be coming back to England.

Can I just ask you would you please consider coming to Man City and managing us for the next five years it would be a absolute honour if you could do that and take care and I love you."

On This Day In Oasis History

"Go Let It Out" is a song by English rock band Oasis, written by the band's lead guitarist Noel Gallagher.

It was released on February 7th 2000 as the first single from the fourth studio album Standing on the Shoulder of Giants. The song peaked at #1 in the UK charts where it went Silver.

The lyrics are a similar vein to "Roll With It" in that it encourages the listener to get on with their life without being specific about how this is to be achieved. The song samples the drums from Johnny Jenkins' version of Dr John's "I Walk on Gilded Splinters". The title may be a reference to the line in "Hey Jude" by The Beatles, "So let it out and let it in, hey, Jude, begin". Noel described the song as "the closest we came to sounding like a modern day Beatles" in the 'Lock the Box' interview found on the DVD in the special edition of Stop the Clocks.

The song, along with B-side "(As Long As They've Got) Cigarettes in Hell", also embodies the psychedelic feel which the band experimented with on the album. It couples this with an acoustic guitar chord sequence. "Let's All Make Believe", the second B-Side is considered by many to be one of the best Oasis B-sides. Some people believe the lyrics of this song to relate to the cracks that began forming in the group at the time (see below), for example: "So let's all make believe/that we're still friends and we like each other."

Due to the departure of guitarist Bonehead and bassist Guigsy in the early recording sessions for Standing on the Shoulder of Giants, the track features only Liam Gallagher (vocals), Noel Gallagher (rhythm guitar, bass guitar, lead guitar) and Alan White (drums).

Oasis were looking for replacements for founding members Bonehead and Guigsy and while Bonehead was quickly replaced with fellow Creation signing and former Heavy Stereo frontman Gem Archer, Guigsy proved harder to replace. Thus the trippy video for "Go Let It Out" had to be filmed with Noel on bass, Archer in Noel's role as lead guitarist and Liam in Archer's role as rhythm guitarist.

The b-side "Let's All Make Believe" has recently been included in several lists as a 'hidden gem', such as Q magazine placing it at number one on its list of '500 best lost tracks' and at 4 on its 'list of songs to download this month - January 2006.' Q magazine said in the description 'If Standing on the Shoulder of Giants had contained this track, it would have probably got another star'.

In the "lock the box" interview, Noel considers "Go Let It Out" to be "head and shoulders" above any other songs he had written during this time, and its "up there with some of the best things I've ever done."

"Go Let It Out" is included on Oasis' compilation album Stop the Clocks, and is the only song from Standing on the Shoulder of Giants on that album.

Oasis' BRITs Snub

Oasis haven't been invited to this year's BRIT Awards, Noel Gallagher has revealed.

Guitarist Noel Gallagher has revealed the band - who were awarded the Outstanding Contribution to Music prize at the 2007 ceremony - are yet to receive their tickets to this month's ceremony.

He told Absolute Radio: "We won't be going. Because we're not on a major record label anymore and we run our own ship we don't get invited to those kind of things anymore. It's fair enough, we don't mind."

Although Oasis won't be attending, Noel is delighted U2 will be opening the event - which takes place on February 18 in London - with their new single 'Get On Your Boots'.

However, the 'Falling Down' rocker admits his bandmates - brother Liam Gallagher, guitarist Gem Archer and bassist Andy Bell - and friends in the music business don't share his love for the Irish group.

He added: "I am a fan and I wouldn't think that they could do a great deal wrong in my eyes. Well I have to say, much to the disgust of everybody else that I know in the music business, I'm actually a fan of U2. No one else I know likes them, but I do, I love them."

Kanye West 'New Oasis Video Breaks My Heart'

Kanye West has blogged about Oasis' video for new single 'Falling Down'.

The rapper posted a link to the video, which you can watch above, on his official blog under the title "Sometimes I see videos and it breaks my heart that there are so few outlets for vids these days..."

The video mocks the British monarchy, and features a member of the royal family indulging in drug binges and one-night stands.

Director Wiz told NME.COM that the lead actress in the video is playing the role of "a contemporary Princess Margaret - a sister of William and Harry maybe".

West's endorsement of the video drew a number of blog comments from fans, mostly positive.

Well, that's all for now, droogs. Got a week off. This bit's been hard graft, man. Europe in the dead of winter is fuckin' grim. Must make a mental note not to do this again.

Some great nights though. Milan, in particular. Those crazy kids killed me, man. FORZA MILANO. Amsterdam and all. Never did get to the bottom of that bastard glass of port!

By the way, there's gonna be a very special release coming your way soon. Remember that "Amorphous Androgynous" lot I was telling you about? Well, they've done a "Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble" mix of "Falling Down". It's 22 mins long. I'll repeat that, TWENTY-TWO MINUTES LONG!! I fully expect 50% of you not to have the attention span to deal with something like that but the rest of you, I hope, will be blown away. It's a staggering piece of music. Monumental even. All superlatives will apply.

Anyway, enough. Time off has just begun.

In a bit.

Noel Gallagher: I'm Sure To Make No10 And Be Prime Minister

Bizzare Lord Noel Gallagher reckons it’s only a matter of time before he’s running the country.

The Oasis axeman predicts a public outcry for his services will lead to his appointment as Prime Minister — and he’s already got a five-year plan in place.

Noel explained on Christian O’Connell's breakfast radio show: “There will be a groundswell of public opinion sooner or later which will carry me into office. And let me tell you, I’ll only be there five years and it’ll all end in tears — but it will be a proper, proper laugh while it’s happening.”

Gordon Brown had better watch out too. Noel had some choice words to say about the PM’s public speaking skills. He added: “We haven’t had anyone since Tony Blair that can get up there and speak well.”

Noel is no stranger to speaking his mind about politics. He once said: “It annoys me that the biggest political icon from the last 30 years has been Margaret Thatcher, someone who tried to destroy the working class. It freaks me out.

“Politics is like football for me. Labour is my team and even if you don’t like a striker you don’t give up supporting the team.”

Yesterday Noel revealed his idea for solving the global economic crisis. And I think he’s on to a winner.

He told Absolute Radio DJ Christian: “I’d have a worldwide search down the back of the couch for shrapnel.

“Put it all together — it all mounts up.”

Wise words.

'Take That's Wembley Shows Will Have More Pizzazz Then Oasis'

Unknown plucked to support boy band stokes Wembley rivalry

Relative "unknown" Gary Go has declared Take That's summer dates at Wembley Stadium will outstrip Oasis' at the venue this summer.

As previously reported, the grown-up boyband picked the singer to join them on their summer dates, including shows at Wembley Stadium, declaring his voice was "quite wonderful".

Speaking to NME.COM the singer declared he was glad the grown-up boyband asked him to support them, as their shows will prove more of an event then the Manchester bands who also play the stadium.

"I would rather play with Take That as I feel it's more of an event than Oasis," he said of the showmanship, though insisted he was not attacking the Gallaghers' music.

"I am a big fan of Oasis and have been since they came out," he added, "but it would be more fun to be part of the Vegas pizzazz that you would get with Take That."

The singer explained that he was discovered by Take That, after the band spotted him following a role he had in ITV musical flop 'Britannia High', and then go to know the four-piece after meeting them in the recording studio.

"I had popped in the studio a couple of times while they were recording 'The Circus' (2008 album), he explained, "and hung around with them."

Taken from Noel's tour diary for oasisinet.com

Hello there. Been a few days, eh? Where HAVE we been? I know we were in Milan last night. What a night! A great, great gig was followed - somewhat predictably - by a monumental drink-up. Didn't go out anywhere. Just at the hotel bar.

David Beckham came to the gig. Was good to catch up with him again after that night in Vegas - remember?

Irie Nancy was in town and all. Shopping, of course. She brought me big laughs and tales of The Mighty I. who's taken to wearing tights while the cold bites back home.

Am currently in a TV studio in Paris. Hanging around. Doing nothing. Still a little bit drunk, I think.

Flying to Germany tonight to do that show we cancelled the other week. Or maybe it's tomorrow. Fuck knows. Either way, I'd rather be in bed.

Au revoir'n'all that.

Oasis' Royal Snub In New Video

Oasis - Falling Down MySpace Exclusive

Indie band Oasis have taken a swipe at the Royal family in their new music video.
The Manchester lads made their feelings clear in the video to Falling Down, which features a fake Royal princess being snubbed by the band.

Brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher can be seen scowling at the princess in the short clip when they are introduced at a showbiz event both refusing to shake her hand.

The princess is also seen leaving the room of a sexy young man and trying to visit a council estate possibly to meet him but is foiled by security guards.

The video is also spliced together with real footage - in the end, slightly hysterical, she resigns herself to her Royal duties and goes out to meet Prince Charles and the rest of the family on the balcony.

Noel Gallagher: High School Musical Is Like Drugs

Noel Gallagher has said High School Musical is like drugs.

The Oasis rocker revealed to Absolute Radio's Christian O'Connell on his Breakfast Show that his daughter Anais - from his marriage to first wife Meg Mathews - is "obsessed" by the Disney sing-a-long films and prefers them to his music.

Noel said: "Yes, I have a nine-year-old daughter who's into that rubbish, you know.
"Well it's like aural drugs isn't it, you know. But yes, they get obsessed and it ain't good for them, you know. I guess it's better than... mind you, what did we have in our day, the Magic Roundabout and Catweazle."

Earlier this month Noel slammed hit video game Guitar Hero.

The 41-year-old musician told Total Guitar magazine: "I always tell kids playing a guitar is not a video game, there is no level to get to. You'll never master it and you'll never complete the game.

"I've never played Guitar Hero myself, I suppose I'm a bit old-fashioned.

"If it puts little plastic guitars into kids' hands and fires their imaginations, I guess it's a good thing."

Interesting quote from Noel in his interview with Christian O'Connell earlier today on Absolute Radio. He was speaking about the new single.

"Always excited when a new single comes out, you know. We've got some new b-sides and some different mixes of it and all that - some of them are quite monumental. Be nice for the kids to get hold of, I think."

Twist And Clout From Manc Band

Noel and Liam Gallagher would choose a cup of tea over a punch-up nowadays.

But the mellowed Oasis brothers have passed on the baton to their European tour support act, fellow Mancs Twisted Wheel.

While Liam and Noel were tucked up in bed after their Milan gig on Monday, the youngsters — singer Jonny Brown, bassist Rick Lees and drummer Adam Clarke — were scrapping in a city centre bar.

A Brit tourist who saw the 3am fight said: “They’d had a bit to drink and started mouthing off at a group of locals who were slagging off Oasis. There were punches thrown before they were separated.”

Noel and Liam would expect nothing less.

Manchester City Fan Noel Gallagher Dedicates Oasis Song To Kaka

Just about everyone who's heard of Mancunian rock band Oasis knows that songwriter and guitarist Noel Gallagher and his singer brother Liam are massive Manchester City fans.

What is perhaps less well-known to may British fans of the group however, is that they are also very popular in Italy, and Noel actually counts Italian striking legend Allessandro Del Piero as a personal friend.

The songwriter was interviewed by Controcampo on Sunday night, where he confirmed that Del Piero was a personal friend.

"[Del Piero] is a great friend," he said.

"David Beckham is a friend ... now he is at Milan.

"Kaka? To me it seemed like pure folly from the outset. Maybe in three years time he will regret not joining Manchester City."

Noel also added his own views to the recent lengthy transfer saga that, eventually, saw Brazilian superstar Kaka stay at AC Milan, and not move to the Gallaghers' beloved Citizens, memorably reportedly uttering the choice phrase, "F*** Arsene Wenger."

Noel's choice to dedicate the song 'Don't Look Back In Anger' to Kaka last night at a concert in Milan, was met by rapturous cheers from the crowd, who were delighted that the Rossoneri legend received a mention.
