Oasis, Stereophonics, Kasabian Back Stuart Cable Charity Single

Kasabian and Stereophonics have endorsed a charity single in aid of Stuart Cable, who died last month.

The song, entitled 'Mining Town', has also attracted the support of Oasis, actor Rhys Ifans, The Who and Manic Street Preachers.

It was recorded by the drummer's most recent band Killing For Company and is available to download from July 25.

"Stuart was our lifelong friend and brother. He will be forever missed. Let's give him and his boys a final shout out,” Stereophonics singer Kelly Jones told BBC Newsbeat.

Cable was found dead at his home in Llwydcoed on June 7.

Cable was one of the original members of Stereophonics, but was sacked in 2003.

He went on to forge a successful career in the media, presenting programmes on Kerrang Radio and XFM South Wales.

Richard Ashcroft On Oasis Support Days

Richard Ashcroft has reminisced about the days when Oasis supported him - and played in front of only two people at a gig.

During an intimate live acoustic session inside the Absolute Radio studio in London, showcasing new tracks from his latest project RPA & The United Nations Of Sound, he told Geoff Lloyd about his past support act.

"Yeah, I remember very early in the tour, I think it was Glasgow, we went backstage and Liam just said: 'I hate being in a band, I hate being in a band', you know, because he just played the whole of the first album to two people, two kids in Adidas tracksuits," the former Verve star recalled.

Nothing Will Be Bigger Than Oasis

Richard Ashcroft has been talking to Xfm about Liam Gallagher’s claims that Beady Eye will be bigger than Oasis. The former Verve frontman was recording ‘An Evening With Richard Ashcroft’, when he told Xfm DJ Richard Walters:

"We all talk a little bit like that because we’re all imbued with the sporting/boxing promoter way of doing interviews. That’s the way we were brought up," he said

"I’m really excited about Liam’s stuff, and Noel’s stuff too. They’re both going to be great".

“Whether timing-wise, or culturally, anything is going to be as big as Oasis? I don’t think so. I don’t think anyone will. Because of the nature of Oasis when they arrived, there was a big vacuum, everyone was scared of rock’n’roll. And Noel did it. Noel showed the way for a lot of people that there’s still some great songs to be written”.

Neighbour Works On Clothing Store For Liam Gallagher

Former Oasis singer Liam Gallagher’s clothing label Pretty Green will open a pop-up store on London’s Carnaby Street with interior design and branded environment work carried out by Neighbour.

The temporary store opens on 30 July and will be in place until Christmas. It comprises a two-storey 200 m2 space with basement and will serve as a showroom for trade clients.

Neighbour approached Pretty Green speculatively, offering to help position the brand, which had a marque created by Sane and Able in May 2009.

Floor-to-ceiling panels will feature photography of the spring-summer collection in the main first floor showroom space.

The ground floor and basement areas, used primarily to store stock, will feature oversize images of Gallagher from a Brighton beach photo-shoot and include a panoramic oversize shot of the singer.

‘Everything has a bit of a Quadrophenia feel to it,’ says Neighbour creative director Phil Sims, who adds that the space was previously occupied by Central St Martins College of Art and Design ‘which left it with a white space, art gallery feel’.

A Lambretta Li 150 scooter which featured in the film has been sourced and will sit in the store. ‘We’ll be able to add more to the space if [Pretty Green] keeps it on,’ says Sims.

Liam Gallagher On Pretty Green

Liam Gallagher claims the design philosophy of his Pretty Green fashion line sets him apart from the rest of the fashion industry.

"We're not like all them fashion designers," Gallagher said. "These are just for lads on the street."

Founded in 2009 by Gallagher, Pretty Green comprises jeans, knitwear, Parkas and footwear.

The star disputed claims that money is his motive for designing the laid-back menswear range."I don't like to talk about money - it's vulgar," he told the Sunday Times Magazine. "Even if it didn't make a lot of money, I'd still do it."

Although he doesn't mind signing autographs and having pictures taken with fans, Gallagher prefers to go shopping first thing in the morning when it's not too crowded. When asked if he like the shops to be open only for him, the musician replied; "I find that ridiculous, all that shit. Listen, I don't mind shopping with the public - I am the public."

Liam Gallagher Idolised John Lennon After His Death

Liam Gallagher's obsession with John Lennon took hold after the Beatles legend died - he was mesmerised by poignant images of the singer during TV tributes.

The former Oasis frontman modelled himself on the musician from the early days of his career, styling his vocals and dress sense on the star.

But now he's confessed he only began idolising Lennon after his death in 1980 - when he saw the promo for Imagine during a news report into the Beatle's assassination.

Gallagher tells Britain's Sunday Times, "I was eight and I remember coming downstairs and seeing Imagine on the telly, which was pretty haunting. I like Lennon's voice. It's all about his voice, I don't care whether he was into peace, or into Yoko, I don't care how big his k**b was or whether he had one ball or f**king three balls, I just like his voice.

"It moves me, makes me sad, makes me happy, makes me angry, makes me whatever."

Liam Gallagher: 'Beady Eye Will Be Bigger Than Oasis'

Singer also slams Noel...

Liam Gallagher has claimed that his new band Beady Eye will be bigger than Oasis.

The group, which consists of Oasis’ former line-up minus his brother Noel, were three-quarters of the way through recording their debut album.

In an interview with The Sunday Times, Gallagher said Beady Eye sounded “similar” to Oasis, but also like T-Rex and Jerry Lee Lewis.

Asked if they would be bigger than his former band, he replied: “It’ll be bigger.

“I’ve got no doubt about the music, no doubt about me. I’ve never sounded better. It’s proper rock’n’roll.

“Oasis was a pop band compared to what we’re doing.”

Gallagher also hit out at Noel, saying he no longer spoke to his brother, who Oasis after a row in France in August 2009.

“Don’t want to either,” he said.

“It’s done and dusted. He’s living his life, I’m living mine. I hope he’s happy in what he does and I’m happy in what I do.”

Beady Eye are due to release their debut single at the end of this year.

Liam Gallagher Quits Hard-Living

Rock wildman Liam Gallagher has quit his hard-living ways and become Mr Boring.

The ex-hellraiser claims he is now a pipe-and-slippers man and he has not even hit 40yet.

The Oasis singer is renowned for boozing and smoking, flashing V-signs, bar brawls and foul language.

But now he has told top celebrity interviewer Lynn Barber that he enjoys domestic bliss with wife Nicole Appleton, 35, and his son Gene, nine.

Lynn said: “He jogs every morning, takes the children to school, goes to parents’ meetings and phones his mum every day.”

Liam also drinks tea and is a fan of daytime TV, including The Jeremy Kyle Show and Noel Edmonds’ cheesy game show Deal Or No Deal.

The revelations of Liam’s comfy lifestyle have come as a shock to his army of fans.

Milkman Mark Waghorn, 40, who has an Oasis tattoo on his right forearm, said: “I should get my tattoo removed. This is not the behaviour I expect of a rock idol.”

Liam, 37, said at the height of his success in the 90s: “Rock stars exercising? I don’t think it’s right. You either got it or you ain’t.

“I drink too much but you won’t catch me doing sit-ups or jogging.

“You see pictures of Bono running around LA with his little white legs and a bottle of Volvic and he looks like a fanny.”

But now Liam jogs five miles a day, and the drone of his treadmill at his London home even sparked complaints from neighbours.

He said he realised he had to change after doing too many “big fat lines … and staying up late talking the same sh** you talked the night before and the night before that”.

He added: “I had to have a serious word with myself. I thought: ‘I’m going to have to tone it down a bit.’”
