Water Way For Noel Gallagher To Launch Solo Career

Noel Gallagher plunges a waitress into a swimming pool in the video for his first solo single.

The promo to The Death Of You And Me is set in a dusty, American desert motel.

Noel is seen sitting in a diner booth before throwing the young woman into the water.

She then escapes the drudgery of work by joining a caravan of travelling musicians.

The Death Of You And Me marks Noel's first release in three years.

It's credited to Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.

And the legendary songwriter explains that the Birds are a loose collective.

He said: "My manager asked me who the High Flying Birds are. They aren't anyone in particular. Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds is me and whoever is around at the time of whatever it is that I'm doing, a loose collective kinda thing"

The track, which features a brass section, echoes later Oasis tracks such as The Importance Of Being Idle.

It's released on August 21.

Album Noel Gallagher's High flying Birds hits shop shelves on October 17.

Oasis bit the dust in 2009 after 18 years.

Noel's brother Liam launched his latest project Beady Eye last year.

Vincent Kompany To Have Guitar Lessons On His Signed Guitar By Noel Gallagher

Vincent Kompany won't strum the Noel Gallagher-signed guitar he got for £6,000 at a charity auction - because he can't.

The Man City star wanted the Gibson because of its links with the Manc.

He says: "I know a lot of people who do play, so I'll invite them around."

First Review Of Noel Gallagher's Debut Single

Noel's solo material has been a closely guarded secret for a long time.

It is now only a week away from your ears and I can finally tell readers it is just what you've been wishing for.

The Death Of You And Me, out on August 28, is the first single from Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - and it's seriously impressive stuff.

He's a big fan of Neil Young and Donovan - and Noel's first track is worthy of being mentioned beside those legends. It's nothing fancy or too intricate, just classic Noel songwriting - coupled with an unexpected brass section.

Who saw that twist coming?

Considering he smokes and drinks, his voice sounds more youthful than ever.

It is closer in style to more recent Oasis tracks such as The Importance Of Being Idle from Don't Believe The Truth and (Get Off Your) High Horse Lady on Dig Out Your Soul.

Lyrically, he's come up with more memorable lines and imagery about "storm clouds" soaking up his soul.

It is a pearler and could even attract fans who wouldn't brave the flying pints of p*** at Oasis gigs.

It has already been A-listed on Radio 2 four weeks before release - and that rarely happens. Xfm, 6 Music and Absolute are all thumping for it too.

The video is ace. Filmed in the desert outside LA, with a stunning blonde waitress he pushes into a pool.

The full video will be premiered on noelgallagher.com from 8.20am Monday. As he would say: "Get on it".

Noel Gallagher Don’t Look Back In... Tonga

Noel is not unfamiliar with The Royle Family - his classic track Half The World Away was the soundtrack to the hit show.

But the ex-Oasis star has been brushing shoulders with genuine blue blood - the king of Tonga.

Noel was staying in the plush W Hotel in Los Angeles while working on his debut solo album, High Flying Birds, with producer Dave Sardy.

Only two people were staying on his floor in the five-star gaff - him and King George Tupou V.

A source said: "Noel was baffled by men in suits with ear pieces keeping an eye on things along his corridor.

"It was only later in the trip that he realised what was going on when room service was taking so long to arrive.

"It turned out it was being checked out before arriving at his door. He was laughing with the lads in the studio about it being like a scene from Coming To America in the room next door."

It's just as well Noel was out there working. You wouldn't want to accidentally stumble into the wrong door and have a Tongan heavy jump on you after a night on the ale.

And Big George isn't to be messed with - he's a bright man with military training.

The king studied at both Cambridge and Oxford Universities. He also had a spell at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, Surrey.

Tonga is made up of 176 islands in the South Pacific. The king should have offered Noel a week's holiday on one for an early listen to the new album.

Liam Gallagher Heads Out In Hampstead

Liam Gallagher has moved quickly to get over the trauma of his stolen hat.

The Beady Eye frontman, snapped while out with his missus Nicole in Hampstead, north London, yesterday, has been testing out potential replacements all week.

Monobrows were raised when it was revealed his black hat, nicked at T In The Park a couple of weeks back, was a cheapy buy from H&M.

Considering how eager fans are to swipe hats from his head, maybe the cheaper option isn't a bad idea.

Noel Gallagher Calls Brother Liam A Born Liar

Noel Gallagher has branded his brother Liam a "born liar" in an explosive new interview.

The warring brothers reignited their war-of-words earlier this month (Jul11) when Noel accused Liam of sparking the break up of Oasis by demanding to advertise his Pretty Green fashion line in the band's tour programmes.

The Beady Eye frontman hit back, insisting he never discussed his clothing venture with his brother, and Noel has now taken another swipe at his sibling, accusing Liam of filling his new band's album with leftover Oasis songs.

Responding to his brother's claims he deliberately held back two of their former band's tracks for his own upcoming solo album, Noel tells NME magazine, "Well, Liam talks a lot, doesn't he?... Unfortunately for Liam, he's a born liar. Those songs have been recorded on two separate occasions, for two different albums, and vocals were never completed.

"I've re-recorded them in a different key, to suit my voice. They're the two most Oasis sounding songs on the album. But whatever he says is bulls**t."

Asked about songs on Beady Eye's debut album Different Gear, Still Speeding, he says, "I remember playing drums on a version of The Roller. I've always liked that song. So there's a version of that with me on it somewhere in the vaults. The Morning Son has been around for the best part of five years.

"I'd heard a few of those tunes before... I'd say whatever songs are on there, I'd say half I recognise the titles of... Millionaire was gonna be on the last record... The Roller, yeah, I always thought was gonna be a f**king mega, mega hit for Oasis but it never got past the demo stage."
