Noel Gallagher's Tales From The Middle Of Nowhere (Vol.2) Part Seventy Five

From Noel Gallagher's 'Tales From The Middle Of Nowhere' tour diary.

Yes comrades. How's it going? All is well I trust?

So, I'm out in South East Asia. Bangkok . . . well, I'm actually in transit to Singapore to be exact.

Played a show in Bangkok last night. Pretty fuckin' good. Odd place Bangkok. Not quite sure what to make of it. It’s hot . . . very hot . . . pissing down constantly . . . like a monsoon!! Very, very busy gaff. Lot's of western people . . . sex tourists, hippies, travellers, Man United fans . . . you know the type. I do like the food though. Who doesn't?

Went out the other night to watch Real Madrid-Man City. Might have had the weirdest footballing experience I've ever had. Watched it in some shady bar on a big screen with hi-energy versions of that album by that Adele being played at excruciating volume. Not the most pleasant night out I've ever had. The fact that we blew it in injury time made it all the more . . . shit (for want of a better word).

What else . . . . . . . ? Seen that film Prometheus on the flight on the way over. What a load of shit. Laughable rubbish. Have you seen it? Well don't . . . it's dog-shit.

 I think that's all I've got for you . . . ?

Yep . . . that's it.

Liam Gallagher's Real Character Revealed By Alan McGee

Middle age creeps up on us all – even rock stars.

Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher is celebrating his 40th birthday today – leaving his fans feeling a little old. The Manchester City fan kicked off festivities with a high-spirited trip to the Bernabeu this week where his beloved team lost 3-2 to home side Real Madrid. Liam got a ticking off from local cops for getting lairy.

Liam’s music career started when he joined his school mate Paul McGuigan’s band The Rain as a teenager. They changed the name to Oasis and were joined by Liam’s brother Noel.

They played their first gig in August 1991.

The group went on to get eight UK No1 singles and seven No1 albums before splitting in August 2009.

Liam is still touring with his band Beady Eye and is at loggerheads with Noel.

Here, the man who gave Oasis their first record deal pays tribute to Liam – and we revisit some of the mouthy star’s most memorable quotes.

There's a story I want to tell about Liam which sums the man up to me. Everyone’s got an idea of what he’s like. But to me the real Liam is a courteous gentleman.

I was one of the first casualties of the Nineties scene. After partying straight for seven years, I spent nine months in rehab.

When I got clean I came back to London around October 1994 really shaken up. You’d think that people would welcome you back with open arms. But most people were too embarrassed to speak to me. I was the elephant in the living room.

The one person who came up and spent two hours talking to me was Liam. It was in December 1994, the night after Oasis had recorded Jools Holland, with the suits on and the orchestra.

Even people from my own record company, Creation, didn’t know what to say. But Liam was the one to say, “Are you all right?” For that I will always love him.

He was just a kid at that point and he was always being bothered by people coming up to him. But all he cared about was checking that I was OK. In a sense that showed real balls. That, to me, shows the real guy who is often misrepresented.

It’s a total cliché but you are only as old as you feel. I doubt I’ll ever grow up properly — and Liam certainly won’t either.

To me he’s like one of the old blues guys — or Paul Weller or Mick Jagger. He will be in a band until the day he dies.

The Beatles and the Rolling Stones were the first generation of rock stars and the first people that we’ve had to get used to playing gigs as older men.

Liam will be just the same. He’ll be up on stage when he’s in his seventies — whether it’s a small gig in the 100 Club or Wembley Stadium — and he’ll be doing it because he loves music.

That’s the best compliment I can pay him — that he still loves music and will still be doing it for a long time.

Turning 40 is always a big one. When you are in your thirties you can blag it that you are still a young guy. After 40, you can’t.

But I don’t think Liam will give a s***. He’ll put on a massive party for his close friends and it will be an excuse for a big night out.

He will live his forties like he has the rest of his life, in his own way. Good luck to him — and Happy Birthday.

Liam Gallagher Set To Perform An Acoustic Set In January

If you’re a neighbour of Liam Gallagher I’d advise some time away tomorrow. The former Oasis frontman is celebrating his 40th birthday – which sounds like a very bad hangover on the cards next week and noise pollution from the party.

But the Beady Eye singer and his fans have got something else to look forward to – Liam will be making his first acoustic performance in January as part of London Fashion Week. Only 120 punters will hear eight live tracks.

The Manchester City fanatic arrived back in London yesterday after a wild night at the Bernabeu where Liam’s boys lost 3-2 – and he got ticked off by cops for getting a bit carried away. Source:

Liam Gallagher Returns To The UK Following His Trip To Madrid

Liam Gallagher has always been a bit of loose cannon but it seems he got a little lost in the moment whilst watching his beloved Manchester City lose 3-2 to Real Madrid.

The Beady Eye frontman was sitting with City and Madrid fans at the Champions League game at the Bernabeu Stadium last night (September 18) when he was involved in a few words with Spanish police.

City were 2-1 up with minutes to go when a cop grabbed Liam’s arm as he stood up and got “vocal”, reports The Sun.

This isn't the first time that Liam has been behind his football team! Following Manchester City's 1-0 win against Manchester United back in April the blues fans were out celebrating their home teams victory including Beady Eye frontman Liam Gallagher.

The singer and avid Man City supporter stunned sports reporters after his beloved team triumphed in the derby match bursting into the media room to hold his own press conference.

The former Oasis frontman is a lifelong supporter of the team, and returned to his hometown of Manchester to watch them take on rivals, Manchester United.

Liam Gallagher: 'I Like John Lennon More Than Paul McCartney'

Beady Eye mainman Liam Gallagher has spoken about his love of John Lennon and has revealed that he likes Lennon more than his bandmate Paul McCartney.

The singer, who was speaking in this week's issue of NME which names Lennon as the Ultimate Musical Icon of the last 60 years, said that The Beatles' co-frontman "means everything to me".

Speaking about Lennon, Gallagher said: "John Lennon means everything to me. I wouldn't say he's a better songwriter than McCartney, I'd say they're both different but great. But I like Lennon's stuff more because it's a bit more beautiful, and it's more mad."

He then spoke about Paul McCartney and compared him to his brother Noel, saying that they were both too nice.

He added: "McCartney's like Noel - he's too nice. Lennon was twisted and I like that kinda shit. His voice is the main thing I love. I like his speaking voice! That's pretty fucking mega. But his voice when he sings is the one. Political voice? Don't give a shit, couldn't care less about politics. But everything else - his singing voice, his songs, and his words – means the world to me."

Gallagher then said that he doesn't believe anyone can touch John Lennon as a songwriter, but that he reckons The La's' Lee Mavers has come closest.

He said of this: "As a songwriter, I don't think anyone's touched Lennon and I don't know if they ever will. Lee Mavers could have got near but he went down another road. Our kid's good but he lacks that fucking madness that Lennon had. He's a normal chap who writes decent songs, and Mavers was too mad."

He continued: "But Lennon had all that and more, and then he went somewhere else with it too. It's a constant thing with him, and I don't think I could ever get bored. You get bored of Lennon and you get bored of yourself, don't you? And I ain't getting bored of me."

To read a full feature about John Lennon, with the likes of The Maccabees, Alex Turner and Miles Kane paying tribute to him, pick up this week's issue of NME, which is on newsstands now or available digitally.

Liam Gallagher Gets Rollocking From Spanish Cops?

Singer was in the Spanish capital to watch his beloved team lose to Los Blancos.

Former Oasis man Liam Gallagher was reportedly given a dressing down by Spanish police after he got too vocal while watching his beloved Manchester City's 3-2 defeat to Real Madrid last night.

According to The Sun, Gallagher was grabbed by a policeman and told off after his team went 2-1 up. They went on to concede two late goals and lose 3-2.

A source told the tabloid about the incident: "Liam got ticked off. He was so hacked off when Madrid got back in the game he left with pals before the end."

Earlier this month (September 5), Gallagher presented Olympic Gold Medal winner and famous mod Bradley Wiggins with the Lifetime Achievement prize at the GQ Men of the Year Awards.

Speaking to the Daily Star at the event's afterparty, Gallagher branded Russell Brand a "dick", Prince Harry "cool" and Geri Halliwell "all-right".
