Noel Gallagher Responds To Liam’s U2 Twitter Disses

Noel Gallagher has responded to Brother Liam's recent criticism of U2, he is set to embark on a European tour with the band this weekend.

This week has seen Liam hit out on numerous occasions at U2 and it's members on Twitter, saying that he would “rather eat my own shit” than than listen to “them bunch of beige fucks as you were”.

Earlier today Noel responded with a statement of his own on Twitter and Instagram, in which he calls his tour “The U2 Catering Experience”. He also delivers a direct dig at Liam by signing off with “AS YOU WEREN’T..KISS-KISS.. NG”, a reference to how Liam finishes his own tweets.

Andrew Wyatt On Working With Liam Gallagher

Taken from an interview with Andrew Wyatt for billboard.com, read the full article here.

You’re used to working behind the scenes on a variety of very high profile projects like Melodrama or the Liam Gallagher stuff. What’s that like? Are you sworn to secrecy beforehand?

Well, until things are out you never want to tell anybody you’re working on anything because there’s always a chance that it’s not gonna come out. I don’t usually run around and tell people that I’m doing a project until I’m absolutely sure it’s being mastered and sent to radio stations. I try to just not reveal anything before it’s done. It’s a very dynamic business, especially now.

Let’s say you think of an idea, melody, concept, whatever. How do you know what project it would be for, whether for Miike Snow, Lorde, Liam, or LIV (your project with Lykke Li)?

That’s an interesting question because I have never been the kind of writer who can pitch a song for an artist. It just has never worked for me. What usually happens is that I’m friends with the person or they’ll ask me to come in and I get a sense of them and we have some kind of rapport. And then when I’m going about my day elsewhere, something will jump to mind and I’ll think, “Oh, that’s a great chord progression for Florence (and the Machine), or this is a great song for Liam (Gallagher).” Whatever melody or thoughts come into my mind I’m always thinking about who it’d work with. You need that rapport with an artist though, because there’s so much you can pick up from meeting a person and hanging out with them a little while that you can’t get otherwise... at least I can’t. There are other people who are great at that, going in and saying, “Oh, I’m going to make a song for Beyonce” and write it and it all works.

Liam Gallagher’s record is coming out in the fall and I know you worked a lot on it. What can we expect?

The lead single, “Wall of Glass” which I wrote with Liam and Greg Kurstin, is already out and I think it’s doing pretty well in the UK, which I’m excited about. I’m really excited about the record; there’s a lot of good songs on there. Some songs I wrote, some I wrote and produced, some I co-wrote, and a bunch of them are from a writer signed to my publishing company who’d sent me some ideas that I turned into some songs.

On This Day In Oasis History...

"Sunday Morning Call" is a song by British rock band Oasis taken from their fourth studio album, Standing on the Shoulder of Giants, and was released as the third and final single from it on 3 July 2000, peaking at #4 in the UK charts. The song is written and sung by Noel Gallagher, who took over lead vocal from brother Liam Gallagher on an A-side for the first time since "Don't Look Back in Anger" in 1996.

Though the song has the same anthemic feel that popularised many Oasis songs, and departs from the psychedelic feel of Standing on the Shoulder of Giants, which had been poorly received by critics, it received a mixed critical reception. NME described it as "a dreary thing indeed", whereas Allmusic described it as a "self-consciously mature departure from the group's usual ebullience... a deliberately mellow, mid-tempo [song]".

The music video is a take on the Jack Nicholson film One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, with characters resembling McMurphy and Nurse Ratched. It was filmed in an old mental institution in Vancouver, Canada and features Scottish actor James Cunningham, who has previously starred in the original play of Trainspotting. Unlike the film, the video begins with the McMurphy character escaping his home and giving chase to the authorities, and ends in a football match. While the inmates celebrate a victory, Oasis are seen watching from the asylum window, and Noel Gallagher makes a 'wanker' hand gesture at Cunningham.

Although unconfirmed, there was widespread speculation at the time that the song was inspired by Noel's friend Kate Moss.

This is the only Oasis single on which Liam Gallagher does not provide vocals on any of the songs.

Barry Gibb On Liam Gallagher, Noel And Oasis

Bee Gees legend Barry Gibb has said he'd love to write a song for Liam Gallagher and work with Noel in the future.

Speaking at the O2 Silver Clef Awards at London's Grosvenor House Hotel on Friday Gibb said: "Of course I would [write a song for Liam Gallagher] but you have to be asked. You really can't just say, ' I'm going to write a song for so and so'. Usually so and so has to ask you but I recognise great opportunities when they come by and if that's the case I'll do it."

Gibb also said he'd love to work with Noel "I would love it . I would love it because I love him and love them (Noel and Liam) together. I love Oasis. He's only down the street from me out there in Beaconsfield. I don't think it's Beaconsfield but it's very close by."
