The country is divided, “split down the fucking middle”. There will always be more protests, more people on the street. That’s what Noel Gallagher thinks of the state of the nation, 22 years after he had drinks inside Number 10 with then-PM Tony Blair (who was worried he was going to trash the place).
And, the music icon reckons, the internet has to answer for a lot of it.
“If I say anything in interviews like ‘Jeremy Corbyn is a fucking disgrace’ people come online and call me a fucking Tory cunt. Whereas if I say, “Boris Johnson is a fucking entitled fucking Bullingdon fucking… fuck that cunt” suddenly I’m called a communist. And I’m like, hang on a minute, neither of those people represent me.”
The 52-year-old really, really isn’t impressed with the Labour Party, who he dubs “the biggest disgrace of all”.
“What they should fucking do is back the Brexit deal and then wait for the next election to come around,” he adds [this interview took place a week before the December election was called]. “And then they say, fine, you voted to leave, so we left, but now we are going to fight the election on a policy of going back in. And that’s it then, done. A final decision.
“I should be in fucking politics!”
When asked what he thinks of Brexit, he says he thinks it will be fascinating to see how it all works. The Irish border in particular.
“I mean, they talk about a border down the middle of the Irish Sea,” he says. “How is that going to work? Is there going to be a little bloke sitting in a fucking rowing boat?
“I don’t think we should be leaving but now we’ve had the vote I think we have
to leave. Because you have to let democracy take its course.”
Would he ever leave the country if it ever got too much?
“Fuck no.”
This is an excerpt of an interview in this week’s Big Issue magazine. For Noel’s take on Boris, Brexit and what it would take for an Oasis reunion to happen, pick up a copy from your local vendor or buy it from the Big Issue Shop.

Oasis
Noel Gallagher has said that every tweet from his brother Liam is a “nail in the coffin” of any chance of a Oasis reunion.
Noel told The Big Issue that is out tomorrow “It’s strange behaviour for someone who is gagging for me to pick up the phone and say let’s do it. He’d put his whole life on hold to get Oasis back together. But every tweet he sends out its another nail in the coffin of that idea.”
Addressing his brother directly, he added: “If you think for one minute I am going to share a stage with you after what you’ve said you are fucking more of a moron than you look.”
Noel conceded that his sibling was selling more records and more tickets than him and advised him to “ride it until the wheels come off”.

Noel Gallagher has revealed that he plans to “get away from it for a bit” in 2020.
He told jeff Slate “Apart from the odd festival date next summer, I think I’m going to try to take 2020 off,” Noel told us.
“Now, that being said, my missus may have something to say about that. Plus, I’ve got a load of songs, they’ve just got to be knocked into shape… but actually, once the Christmas EP is out of the way, I’m going to take a step back.
“I just need to get away from it for a bit. So I don’t think I’ll start to make an album seriously till 2021.”
