Noel Gallagher Has Hit The Studio

The radio station that is....

With the band working on their seventh studio album with producer Dave Sardy, the Oasis leader has turned his hand to DJing and recently recorded an hour-long show for Radio 1's 40th birthday and NME has heard a sneak preview.

"Radio 1 is 40 years old, as am I," said Noel. "If you think about it. I'm a visual representation on how the station would look."

He added that he was surprised how much things had changed since Oasis' first visit "Jo Whiley had Doc Martens on and I remember thinking, 'the bird's in Doc Martens' - she's anything but a Doc Marten-wearer now!"

Noel's show is broadcast on September 24 between 9-10pm.

Arctic Monkeys (26) and Paul Weller (20) among the other guest DJs.

Who Is Your Favourite Britpop Band?

With the likelihood of a full Blur reunion on the horizon and Oasis releasing their live DVD next month, we’ve been getting all nostalgic about those Britpop years in the Gigwise office.

Most readers will vividly remember the Oasis vs Blur feud, Pulp’s unlikely rise to stardom after years in the wilderness, the triumphs of Maine Road and Knebworth, the sassiness of Elastica and the general beating heart of the music scene in Camden.

Others readers may have been yet to hit puberty during the mid nineties glory days, but there’s little doubting the influence of those years still shines through.

So, in honour of this we thought we’d ask you exactly who is your favourite band from the era – whether they’re now defunct or not. The result will be published in a gallery tomorrow.

Apologies for any bands we may have missed, but we can only poll for 20.
