Oasis
25 years of feeling Supersonic … of the parkas, shades, swagger, cigarettes and alcohol, and sibling rivalry … of Mr Sifter, Mr Soft, and Alka-Selzer-loving Elsa … 25 years of the era-defining rock and roll masterpiece, ‘Definitely Maybe’.
It was a seminal LP, which became the fastest-selling debut album in UK chart history upon its release in August 1994.
It sparked the meteoric rise of Oasis from the council estates of Manchester to some of the biggest concerts ever witnessed on British soil.
Definitely Maybe propelled the Burnage band on to become one of the most genre and generation-moulding British groups that has ever plugged in an electric guitar.
And now, 25 years on, Cottiers Theatre in Glasgow will host a celebration of this cultural phenomenon in the city where it all began.
This unmissable bill features:
• A visual presentation and Q&A with Microdot’s Brian Cannon, who designed all Oasis’ record sleeves from 1994 until 1997
• A full live set from renowned Oasis tribute band, Stop The Clocks, who will play Definitely Maybe track-by-track
• A live performance by Mancunian urban poet, ARGH KiD, who has been called a, “Proper funny fu***r,” by none other than Liam Gallagher.
• A full-band performance by legendary Scousers, The Real People, who recorded and produced Oasis’ pivotal ‘Live Demonstration’ cassette, before briefly appearing on Definitely Maybe itself.
• A DJ set by Clint Boon of the Inspiral Carpets, who employed Noel Gallagher as a roadie, but who knocked him back as their frontman
Tickets for what is sure to be a night of mesmerising live performances and insight can be purchased below for £25 (plus £1.50 booking fee). Boooking fee is applicable on all tickets including those bought on the phone and on the day.
