A guitar once owned by Noel Gallagher and damaged during the night Oasis broke up is set to be auctioned and could fetch up to £500,000.
The iconic 1960s red Gibson ES-355 was broken during a backstage altercation between Noel and his brother Liam at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris in 2009, an incident that led to the band's split.
The guitar will go up for auction this October as part of Propstore’s live music memorabilia sale. It carries a pre-sale estimate of £250,000 to £500,000.
It’s one of around 150 Oasis-related items featured in the auction, which also includes Noel Gallagher’s Takamine FP460SC acoustic guitar used to record Wonderwall estimated to sell for between £200,000 and £400,000.
Former Oasis drummer Zak Starkey commented, “I'm extremely proud of my work with Oasis, and giving fans the chance to own authentic memorabilia through Propstore's auction is a way for them to be part of that history.”
