Bradley Wiggins On Oasis 'Definitely Maybe'

Bradley Wiggins has spoken to the current issue of Q about Oasis debut album 'Definitely Maybe'.

He said "It sounds cheesy now but the album that changed my life was 'Definitely Maybe' by Oasis. I was 14 and that song 'Rock 'N' Roll Star, with the lyrics, 'I live my life in the city/There's no easy way out.' I grew up in London and that's how I felt. It meant a lot to me."

It’s official: Noel Gallagher, Robbie Williams and Plan B are amongst the coolest men in Britain!

Readers of ZOO Magazine voted in their thousands in the publication’s annual ‘Britain’s Coolest Man’ poll with the results being unveiled today.

Former Oasis guitarist/songwriter is the highest ranked music star at number 11 ahead of Robbie Williams in 16th spot. Rapper turned soul singer and movie star Plan B sneaked in at number 20.

However, they were all trumped by boxer Carl Froch who stormed in at number one ahead of Prince Harry and Hollywood actor Tom Hardy.

35-year-old Froch commented: “It’s an honour and a privilege! I’m surprised Jason Statham didn’t win, though.

“I can see why Prince Harry is runner-up. He got rumbled for stripping off and having a laugh in Vegas recently, but who cares? He’s a soldier, puts his time in and lads take to him.”

ZOO Editor Damien McSorley added: “Carl Froch is well worthy of the title, Britain's Coolest Man 2013, having elevated himself to become Britain's leading boxer.

“Carl is a people's champion; a home-grown, self-made success story, who remains down-to-earth, outspoken and close to his Nottingham roots.”

The 20 coolest men in Britain, according to ZOO Magazine, are as follows:

1. Carl Froch
2. Prince Harry
3. Tom Hardy
4. David Beckham
5. Bradley Wiggins
6. Idris Elba
7. Daniel Craig
8. Jack Whitehall
9. Jason Statham

Liam Gallagher Talks Wiggins, Weller And More

We always knew that he wasn't just all mouth and no (paisley) trousers. From a handful of T-shirts in 2009 to a fully blown fashion label with stores in London, Glasgow and Tokyo, Liam Gallagher's Pretty Green label has come a long way in three short years. To celebrate, he staged a star studded presentation at The Arts Club on London's Dover Street, including the new face of the label Jesse Wood. In between admiring the parka-heavy autumn/winter 2013 collection we asked the Beady Eye front man about dressing sports personalities, Sid James wardrobe and why his worst dressed man isn't Noel.

GQ: You presented to Bradley Wiggins at the GQ Awards. If he asked you for something from the Pretty Green collection, what would you dress him in?
Liam Gallagher: Some really f*****g extra, extra small stuff or something made out of lycra. He looks good in a suit so I'd give him a few of those, man. Whatever he wants he can have.

When you launched the store in Japan, was there anything the fans out there were particularly "mad for"?
Anything with a Union Jack on it. I'm not the sort of guy that goes round with a f*****g clipboard asking, "What the f**k did you buy?" It was purposefully designed for those guys, we changed all the fits and sizes for them to create a 46 piece capsule collection of things you can't buy over here.

Paul Weller has previously told us he never gave you any advice on clothes. Have you ever given him any advice on how to dress?
Nah, the man's a legend. He looks cool whether he's in something I'd wear or not. You can tell the guy spends a bit of time getting ready and that's got to be admired. Same with me, you know what I mean? It might come out a bit more dishevelled on me, but a lot of work goes into looking this dishevelled!

What item are you most excited about in the autumn/winter 13 collection?
Black Label's where I'm at. I don't wear much colour or many logos so black's the key for me. I especially like the leather bomber jacket for next season.

Any chance Pretty Green will do black tie anytime soon?
Why not, man? We're not a one trick pony. There's this dinner jacket Sid James wears in Carry On Camping:a leopard print blazer with satin lapels. I'd like something like that. It's not all about baggy jeans in my wardrobe.

Who would you say is your worst dressed man?
Nigel Grant [brand director at Pretty Green]. What basically happens is he'll put something on and we'll say "Never f*****g design anything like that".

Bradley Wiggins Rocks After-Party With Impromptu Oasis Performance

Bradley Wiggins shocked revellers at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year after-party by jumping on stage and belting out a few of his favourite mod songs with an impromptu guitar session.

The Tour de France champion, who claimed the top prize at last night’s glitzy event, celebrated his win in style by rocking out to classic hits by The Jam and Oasis with the hired band.

Wiggins hopped on stage and first asked the musicians if they knew The Jam classic ‘That Entertainment’, which they didn’t.

Not wanting to ruin a good party, they followed his lead, but with the Team Sky cyclist reluctant to sing, he invited anyone who fancied it to get up and give it a go, with a security guard eventually obliging.

Wiggins then requested the band join him in a rendition of Oasis smash hit ‘Wonderwall’, which he lead on guitar while the band’s singer belted out Noel Gallagher’s classic anthem with the help of the crowd.

The Sports Personality of the Year then took the party to trendy London nightclub Whiskey Mist, where he celebrated until 3am.

Pretty Green's Pat Salter On Working With Liam Gallagher And More

As head of design at Pretty Green, Pat Salter is Liam Gallagher's right hand man, charged with turning the Beady Eye frontman's vision into a wearable reality. The former head of denim development at Ted Baker, Salter was appointed after a chance meeting with Liam in London last year. During his tenure, he has kicked the three-year-old brand up a gear, introducing the smarter Black Label line as well as expanding the denim offering from three pairs of jeans to a whole range of hard-wearing workwear.

GQ.com talked to the designer to pick his brain about what is like to work with one of the most outspoken individuals in British music.

GQ.com: How does the creative process work between you and Liam?
Pat Salter: Liam's a very hands-on boss. At the beginning of the season we have a design meeting and discuss where his head's at with the collections - what sort of mood he's feeling and what he's into at that particular time. Then I go away and create a mood board around those ideas. Unfortunately I can't buy the amount of clothes that he does but he has a huge archive of clothing that he selects from his wardrobe to build the collection around. He doesn't sit there drawing, but he's got a lot of ideas - being in a band, he's a creative guy.

Who is your best-dressed British man?
It's got to be Brian Jones. Obviously if you dressed like that now you wouldn't get very far walking down your local high street, but every picture of him is cool. I also like late Sixties/early Seventies Michael Caine. You've got to throw Michael Caine in there too. Don't get me wrong, that's not how I dress - I don't walk around with big floppy rabbit fur hats with feathers in them, but you can't deny how great those guys looked: clashing shoes, clashing patterns, clashing fabrics, velvet, corduroy. It was chaos, but it worked.

What are the five items a man should have in his wardrobe?
Firstly, a decent pair of well-fitting selvedge jeans from Japan. Not a reproduction pair - a real hardcore pair of wear-in-yourself Japanese jeans. Then a white v-neck T-shirt and a cool bit of outerwear (I would go for a Stone Island CP parka). On the shoe front you need a pair of classic sneaker pumps. Finally you need a slim-fitting black suit tucked away in your wardrobe that can be worn at smarter events.

Who is your Bond of choice?
Straight away my brain went to Sean Connery, but I'm going for Roger Moore. Those tailored suits with nipped-in waists and pastel colours: you couldn't wear his stuff unless you were a make-believe secret agent.

Will Pretty Green ever do black tie?
Liam goes to a lot of smarter events these days, so, I can't definitely say yes, but it's a distinct possibility.

What is the most stylish film and why?
Get Carter is the obvious answer, but I'm going to say Star Wars. Just look at the Stormtroopers: those costumes are as cool today as they were when they came out in the Seventies.

Can you recommend a good book?
Ideas from Massimo Osti. He was the brains behind a lot of great brands - including my favourite, Stone Island CP -  and this is a photographic biography of his genius. Sad times, good book.

What do you have planned next?
We want to do more on the accessories side of things - we have a completely new shoe range launching next season which is exciting. The next big thing is our showing at London Collections: Men in January…

After Liam presented his GQ Men Of The Year award, will we be seeing Bradley Wiggins in the next campaign?
They struck up quite a rapport at the GQ Awards, didn't they? Wiggins is a dude and he's into the same scene as us, but as to whether he'll do stuff with us? Watch this space.

Liam Gallagher To Appear On 'Never Mind The Buzzcocks' Next Month?

Cycle star Bradley Wiggins has signed up for his first TV presenting job since winning the Tour de France and gold at the London Olympics.

The champ will be showing off his sideburns as well as his autocue skills as guest host on BBC 2’s Never Mind The Buzzcocks next month.

Bosses are also trying to get Liam Gallagher on the same show because of the pair’s instant bromance at the GQ Awards last month, where Liam presented Bradley with a special Lifetime Achievement gong.

When the Beady eye frontman was asked what makes a great man, he said: “Obviously someone who, like, y’know gives his missus a foot massage every minute of the day and takes the dogs for walks and puts the dishwasher on and, like, you know, wins gold medals at riding a bike really fast.”

Last night Liam let his son Gene stay up late on a school night when he took him to see the spruced-up re-release of The Beatles film Magical Mystery Tour in London.

Judging by the clobber the lad’s wearing, Liam might be bringing out a junior version of his Pretty Green clothing range.

That parka is worthy of Weller – or Wiggins.

Are Bradley Wiggins And Liam Gallagher BFFs (Best Fashion Friends)?

The blossoming bromance between cycling hero Bradley Wiggins and his new, fellow sideburn-sporting friend Liam Gallagher has reached fashionable heights.

We hate to say I told you so - but here we go anyway: when we conjured a slideshow of fantasy fashion campaigns for Team GB's victorious Olympians post-Games, we thought Bradley Wiggins for Liam Gallagher's label Pretty Green would be a match made in mod heaven.

Now it turns out the two got on like a house on fire in real life at the GQ Awards earlier this week, with potty-mouthed Gallagher presenting 'Wiggo' with his Lifetime Achievement Award, and inspiring the ex-Oasis frontman to tweet: "Bradley Wiggins, cool as f*** LG'.

But the bromance has reached third base with reports of Tour de France champion Wiggins snapping up Liam's designs from his local Pretty Green store in Manchester, according to the Manchester Evening News (we wonder if Liam was so generous as to bestow Wiggo with a discount card?).

"Clothes are important, man" professed Gallagher when he talked to us about his line last month - and he's certainly doing something right with 11 stand-alone shops in the UK and expansion in Japan and Tokyo.

The sideburned duo must have clearly bonded over their love of musical 'Modfather' Paul Weller; Wiggins not-so-subtly styles himself on the rock legend while Gallagher's line Pretty Green takes its name from a song by Weller's old band The Jam.

The only forseeable thorn in this fashion friendship's side is Wiggo's six-season design deal with Fred Perry. Looks like Liam will have to wait a while to sign the lamb-chopped legend as his new front man.

Liam Gallagher Wants To Party With Prince Harry

Liam Gallagher has spoken of his admiration for Prince Harry and revealed plans for a drinking session with everyone's favourite member of the Royal family.

The Beady Eye frontman has spoken of his admiration for the flame-haired royal after seeing the prince naked in recently leaked shots of a Las Vegas party. Gallagher told The Daily Star that if he was Prince, then he'd be naked and drunk all the time.

"I'd like to party with Prince Harry. He's cool," he told the tabloid at the GQ Awards. "If I was a ginger prince and third in line to The Throne, I'd get p***ed and naked every night. Just for the hell of it.

He does add however, that he's a better drinker than Prince Harry, saying: "I've never got so bladdered I've got naked though. I can handle my booze."

Gallagher was at the awards to present Olympic medalist Bradley Wiggins with a Lifetime Achievement award.

"To be in this company with so many faces, including Ashley Cole right down there in front of me, it means a lot," said Wiggins at the event.

"It means a lot to be presented with this award from Liam. I grew up with Oasis."
