James Blunt Says Liam And Noel Gallagher Are Miserable

James Blunt thinks Liam Gallagher is miserable because he's never had as much sex as Mark Owen.

The 'You're Beautiful' hitmaker insists there are far better benefits to being in a boy band than there are to landing critical acclaim and popularity within a rock group.

He said: "Take That got laid more than Oasis, so join a boy band. No really, they did. I know you don't want to admit it but look at the stats.

"An audience of beer-swilling lads arm in arm football-chanting 'Wonderwall' or an audience of screaming girls chasing you to your hotel, and breaking in through the fire escapes to get to you. Say what you like, but Mark Owen got more action than Noel and Liam combined. And he doesn't get drunk blokes coming up to him in the pub trying to be his mate. No wonder the Gallaghers are so miserable."

Noel Gallagher Teases "Freeloaders" Fans

Noel Gallagher teased his fans were "freeloaders" during his acoustic set for BBC Radio 2 on Monday night (07.12.15).

The 48-year-old rocker performed an intimate show at the BBC Radio Theatre in London, and joked that the 400 strong crowd were cheap-skates because they were getting to watch him sing for free.

Taking a break to chat to the audience, he said: "So, competition winners eh? Was it a random draw or did you have to answer a question? So you didn't have to have any knowledge at all. How does that make you feel? Can't be as bad as me."

Noel was joined by his former Oasis bandmate Gem Archer - who formed the now-defunct Beady Eye with Liam Gallagher following the demise of the super-group - and he introduced the guitarist as "my former right-hand man, who is now my left-hand man".

Crouched over his guitar, sat in the middle of the stage, Noel was flanked by two guitars and backed by three saxophonists and a keyboard player.

His relaxed style and cool temperament mesmerised the eager crowd, who were on tender-hooks as the rocker paced himself through a mixture of Oasis classics and B-sides such as '(It's Good) To Be Free', 'Talk Tonight' and 'D'Yer Wanna Be A Spaceman?', 'Wonderwall' and 'Slide Away' and songs from his solo career such as 'The Death of You and Me', 'If I Had A Gun...' and 'AKA... What a Life!'.

As one fan shouted "stand up we can't see you!" Noel quipped: "I haven't got a guitar strap. If it wasn't going out on the telly I'd be calling you something other than James Blunt."

Noel closed his set with his best-loved song 'Don't Look Back In Anger' which prompted a singalong from the few hundred fans watching.

Noel Gallagher setlist:

'(It's Good) To Be Free'
'Talk Tonight'
'The Death Of You And Me'
'If I Had A Gun...'
'D'Yer Wanna Be A Spaceman?'
'Listen Up'
'Sad Song'
'The Importance of Being Idle'
'Cast No Shadow'
'Half The World Away'
'Slide Away'
'Wonderwall'
'AKA... What a Life!'
'Don't Look Back In Anger'

Noel Gallagher Says James Blunt is F*cking Rubbish

Noel Gallagher has responded to James Blunt's claims that people in the music industry tried to get him to change his accent so he sounded less posh.

He told Loaded “Posh people are alright. I have a lot of posh friends. But James Blunt doesn't get people’s backs up because he’s posh, it’s because he’s fucking shit.“What held him back is the fact he’s fucking rubbish. That’s shit about his accent, he sings in an American accent anyway. I don’t think there are too many posh people in the arts - I don’t think there’s enough working class in the charts.”

Noel also has no desire to be on social media.“It’s not for me, he says. “I have an Instagram account that I’ll be doing on tour. I do a tour blog as well for the website but nobody needs to know what colour socks I'm wearing or what I'm having for breakfast. For me, there’s not enough mystery in the world.

Noel Gallagher Calls Ed Sheeran "A F*cking Dude"

Noel Gallagher has said that Ed Sheeran is the only person to ever tell him they did not want to play a gig for Teenage Cancer Trust.

However, he added that most artists who did not want to take part in the charity event that he curated in 2013 initially said yes, but then got their agents to pull out of the gigs for them. Sheeran then agreed to take part the following year.

"You'll be there on the phone listening to someone blatantly lying to you. People say they can do it and then get their publicist to call up later and say, 'Oh we can't do it now, he thinks his cat's gonna have a stroke that particular afternoon'. You’re there, cajoling, with some cunt who plays a banjo about whether they're gonna turn up," said Gallagher in an interview which features in this week's issue of NME.

Discussing Sheeran, Gallagher commented: "The only one fucking person that has ever ever ever said 'I can't do it, I just got back from Australia I can’t be fucking arsed man, I'm fucked, but I will definitely do it next year' and I crossed his name off the list was Ed Sheeran! He actually called me back, you know what I mean, he said, 'Right I'm ready now, I wanna do it', and I thought, 'You know what, what a fucking dude'."

Noel Gallagher recently jumped to Ed Sheeran's defence after previously criticising the singer, stating "I won't hear a word said against him". Speaking to NME earlier this year, Gallagher remarked that he couldn't live in a world where Ed Sheeran headlines Wembley. But in an interview with Shortlist, the Oasis man revealed he'd had a change of heart about the pop star, mainly because Sheeran followed up on his word to appear at Gallagher's Teenage Cancer Trust concert at the Royal Albert Hall. "The only person that has ever said that and called me back the next year is Ed Sheeran. And I thought, 'You know what, you'll do for me man.'" He added: "He's a good lad and I won't have a word said against him."

Previously asked by NME if he'll be going to Sheeran's Wembley Stadium gigs, which Sheeran offered him tickets to, Gallagher said: "No no, they're for my daughter. She'll be going and drinking his champagne and possibly playing Top Trumps with James Blunt in the dressing room afterwards. I've given her a list of people to insult while she's there."

Noel Gallagher's new album 'Chasing Yesterday' is Number One in the Official Album Chart and has been confirmed as the fastest-selling album of 2015 so far. The album was released last week (March 2). Official Chart Company data reveals that the album had 89,000 combined sales, including 1,700 streams that now count toward the final chart position.

Gallagher is Number One ahead of Sam Smith's 'In The Lonely Hour' and Ed Sheeran's 'X' as well as the albums by George Ezra and Royal Blood.

Noel Gallagher Defends Alex Turner 'Boring' Comments

Noel Gallagher has explained why he criticized Alex Turner in a previous interview, according to NME.

The former Oasis frontman said he believes his comments regarding the way the Arctic Monkeys frontman answered during interviews are not remarks the latter would find offensive.

"I never say anything about their persona. I don't diss anybody's character," he said. "Alex Turner wouldn't be offended by that. Why should he?"

The vocalist added, "Alex is a f*****g top dude in a f*****g top band, and a very attractive man. His interviews, on the other hand, are lacklustre."

Gallagher first made a comment about Turner during an interview with the Evening Standard about the current state of the rock music industry.

"There doesn't seem to be any characters anymore. When you have proper characters, the music sort of becomes secondary ― it looks after itself," he said.

Speaking of musicians he believes are not as "great characters" as The Smiths and The Jam, Gallagher said, "I would rather drink petrol straight from the nozzle at a garage than listen to an interview with Alex Turner from the Arctic Monkeys."

He added, "Wouldn't you? Alternative thinking is on its way out. They just don't make for great copy. Is it any coincidence that all indie labels got bought up by the major labels and things have started to get boring?"

Turner, however, is not the first musician to be the subject of Gallagher's comments.

The former Oasis frontman had called out "You're Beautiful" singer James Blunt for being "boring," according to the Independent.

Gallagher also recently gave her two cents about Taylor Swift, according to Huffington Post.

Speaking of the praise Swift has been getting for being a talented songwriter, the musician said, "Who says that? Her parents?... She seems like a nice girl, but no one has ever said those words, and you f*****g know it."

Noel Gallagher On Ed Sheeran's Wembley Shows After-Party

Noel Gallagher spoke to Absolute Radio earlier this week and spoke about Ed Sheeran's after-party plans for his Wembley.

He said “The last show that Oasis did at Wembley was great but I can assure you the after-party, I didn’t leave Wembley until the next day.

“It was widely regarded as one of the best after-shows of all time.

“Ed Sheeran is young enough – he should be kicking the living daylights out of it. Maybe he’ll stay up with James Blunt playing bridge until 4pm in the afternoon. Play Top Trumps or something.”

Audio: Noel Gallagher: 'Not Enough Working Class People' In The Arts

Former Oasis star Noel Gallagher says there are “not too many posh people - just not enough working class people" in the arts.

The singer-songwriter was responding to the row between James Blunt and the Shadow Arts Minister Chris Bryant, about whether it was easier for performers from privileged backgrounds to become successful.

"The working classes don't seem to have much of a voice or a presence in the charts or in the magazines of late," he said.

Noel Gallagher Has Waded In The Privileged VS Working Class People In The Arts Debate

Noel Gallagher has waded into the debate on working class people in the arts claiming there are not enough of them represented in the music industr and the ones that are ‘are just idiots’.

The High Flying Birds frontman, originally from Burnage, was speaking during an interview on 5 live Drive earlier today (MON) after the debate hit the headlines last week thanks to James Blunt and the Shadow Arts Minister Chris Bryant.

The singer-songwriter, who found fame with iconic Manchester band Oasis has blamed the recession on the reason people from poorer backgrounds struggled to find success in the industry.

He said: “I think with the recession and all that there’s a few things that have happened.

"It’s not possible for a working class people to sustain a music career if they don’t make it if they don’t have record labels and stuff.

"That’s become more difficult because of the recession. And you know the smaller type venues and rehearsal spaces they are all closing down now and becoming posh restaurants and flats. And that has taken the spaces for these bands or kids in bands to grow."

Last week singer James Blunt squared up to Labour’s shadow secretary for culture Chris Bryant over a debate there were too many upper class people in the arts and not enough opportunities from people from other backgrounds.

In his interview on 5 live Drive the outspoken City fan added: “I’m not sure there’s too many posh people in the arts - there’s just not enough working class people.

“I’m not an economic brain box but the working class don’t seem to have much of a voice or a presence in the charts or in the magazines of late, wouldn’t you agree? And the working class people that there are in there are just idiots.”

When asked whether there were any working class artists he had in mind when he said that Noel immediately replied: “I can think of Sleaford Mods for one, they are an embarrassment. And there’s some very tax efficient working class people knocking about isn’t there?”

The singer has hit the headlines a lot recently, after questioning how Ed Sheeran could sell out Wembley, declaring James Blunt song’s boring and disagreeing with how U2 delivered their latest album.

Noel Gallagher On Alex Turner, James Blunt, Ed Sheeran, Jessie J And More

Noel Gallagher believes today’s rock bands are so dull that he would “rather drink petrol” than listen to an interview with Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner.

The 47-year-old singer claimed there are no real characters left in music because of the power held by the big record labels.

In an exclusive interview with the Standard, the former Oasis guitarist said: “There is a lot of shit pop music these days that’s just devouring everything at the minute. I’m hoping that will come to an end.

“There doesn’t seem to be any characters any more. When you have proper characters, the music sort of becomes secondary — it looks after itself. Look at bands like The Smiths and The Jam — all great characters.

“I would rather drink petrol straight from the nozzle at a garage than listen to an interview with Alex Turner from the Arctic Monkeys. Wouldn’t you? Alternative thinking is on its way out. They just don’t make for great copy.

“Is it any coincidence that all the indie labels got bought up by the major labels and things have started to get boring?” Gallagher spoke as he was announced as the first headliner for this year’s Calling Festival, on Clapham Common on July 4.

He believes the dullness has spilled into the Brit Awards, adding: “I remember the Brits in 1994 — we were all shit-faced on drugs. The new names like James Blunt, Ed Sheeran and Jessie J — they defer to the [record] labels. The bands that I grew up with had a healthy dose of indifference and contempt towards their labels. That has gone.” Gallagher may be a famous Mancunian, but insists he will never leave London, where he has lived for more than 20 years: “I can’t see myself ever leaving. It is the greatest city in the world. It is the capital of Europe. I’ve been to them all, but there’s something quite special about London in the summertime — the social life, the culture, the nightlife.

“I’d never go into politics, but if I was mayor I’d have to sort out the transport system. I can’t drive and I can’t be arsed sitting in traffic jams in a taxi, so I get the Tube everywhere.

“But when you go around the world, most cities have got state-of-the-art underground and subway systems — we are bumbling around on a post-war system that’s falling apart. I think the people deserve better.”

Gallagher, who lives in Little Venice with wife Sara MacDonald and their sons Donovan, seven, and Sonny, four, says he has no problems adjusting from being a rock musician to being a father: “I’m not a boring dad — I’m a rock star! But you have to adjust.

“My two young boys are not remotely interested in what I do. I could have just come off the stage at the Hollywood Bowl, and they’ll just give me a light sabre and say, ‘Right dad, we’re having it in the back garden now!’”

The singer is due to release his second solo album, Chasing Yesterday, next month and is playing at The Dome in Tufnell Park tonight. Tickets for Calling Festival go on sale on Friday at 9am.

James Blunt Agrees With Noel Gallagher's Boring Claim

British singer James Blunt has sportingly agreed with Noel Gallagher after the outspoken former Oasis star slammed him for being "boring".

Gallagher was asked if he ever wrote lyrics which drew on experiences from his own life during a Bbc radio interview on Saturday (31Jan15), and admitted there's nothing inspiring about what he does outside the recording studio.

He said, "If I wrote songs about my own life, they would be more boring than James Blunt. If that's at all possible, which we all know, of course, it's not."

The You're Beautiful hitmaker failed to take offence and humorously responded to the jibe.
He took to Twitter.com and wrote, "For once, I agree with him."

Noel Gallagher On Producing Work More Boring Than James Blunt

Noel Gallagher has dismissed the idea of drawing from his own life when looking for songwriting inspiration, saying such a strategy would produce work "more boring than James Blunt".

Gallagher was talking to BBC Radio 2 DJ Edith Bowman (who was filling in for Dermot O'Leary) earlier this afternoon (January 31) about his forthcoming album 'Chasing Yesterday', and described the set as lacking a cohesive narrative.

When asked if he considered writing about his own experiences, Gallagher said: "If I wrote songs about my own life, they would be more boring than James Blunt. If that's at all possible, which we all know, of course, it's not."

The former Oasis guitarist was also asked if he had allowed himself to reflect on the past when the band's debut album 'Definitely Maybe' celebrated its 20 year anniversary last year.

"It's an amazing thing to have been involved in a band that people took to their hearts," said Gallagher, who went on to reveal he gets asked about the possibility of an Oasis reunion at least twice a week. Paraphrasing his response to fans who ask, he said: "I never got to see The Beatles, and I'm a bigger fan of The Beatles than you are of my band."

Speaking to NME for his recent cover story, Gallagher described 'Chasing Yesterday' as being full of "songs that make you kind of punch in the air while crying a little bit".
