Liam Gallagher On The La's

Liam Gallagher has spoken to the NME Gold about the La's, and said that the band were as important to him as The Stones Roses.

"The La's were as important to me as The Stones Roses, without a doubt. Those two to me are like The Beatles and the Stones of my generation. Just as a frontman for me, and his look, Lee Mavers is up there with Ian brown. Amazing songwriter, but he was a proper, proper frontman as well. he's got a Marley thing. i think. I met him a few times, he's always a bit spikey and that, but I'm still intrigued by him, which is the most beautiful thing".

He added "He's gonna be like Prince when he pops his clogs: he's going to have like an Aladdin's cave, with all sorts of mad albums, but he just doesn't want to get caught up in all the razzamatazz, which is fair enough. The thing about lee Mavers is that he's not being bought. he's not for fucking sale. I love that about him. But at the same time , I wish we could hear more music by him. It's like 'All right, you're not for sale and you're not having a sale, but at least open the shop doors every now and again.'"

Liam Gallagher On Beady Eye, Noel, Johhny Marr And More

Liam Gallagher has spoken to the current issue of Q about his brother Noel being disappointed when Beady Eye split up.

The singer said "Was he? I'm sure he was. I was more disappointed Oasis split up. I wonder if he was. I've never heard him say he was disappointed about Oasis, No, he's got what he wanted."

When asked What was that? Was it to be a frontman? Liam said "Without a doubt, without a doubt. Jealous, every f*cking soundcheck he'd go stand in the middle and sing. The geezer's got small man syndrome. He never had the nerve back in the day, so he joined my band and slowly wormed his way to the front, got his balls together. Same as Johnny Marr. Get yourselves over to the other side, play your guitars, play it with yer teeth, because there's no place for you over here. You know when your kid puts on make-up on and tries to look grown-up for a laugh? it's like that. They're playing at being frontmen. Get back over there. They look stupid.

"He's a great guitarist, our kid. He looks like Steve Jones when he's over there on that side. Be happy over there. But out front he looks like Don McClean. If he thinks he's Lee Mavers he needs to have another look at himself because Lee Mavers is dark and mysterious and you don't know what's going to happen with Lee Mavers. You know what's going to happen with Noel. His fucking sleeves, rolled up. It's like Dermot O'leary with a guitar. Fuck Off. He needs to fuck back over his side of the stage and strike a pose".

Spokesperson For Liam Gallagher Denies He's Working With Lee Mavers

A spokesperson for Liam Gallagher has denied recent reports linking him to a new musical project with Lee Mavers of The La's.

Tabloid reports last week (July 13) suggested that Gallagher has spent the last two months writing and recording with Mavers after the pair were brought together by former Beady Eye and La's drummer Chris Sharrock.

"Despite all the madness and excitement that surrounds Liam's personal life, he has always been very serious about his music and doesn't want to be retired or left waiting for his brother to decide he wants to bring Oasis back," a source told The Sun.

"Liam and Lee share a lot of similar ideas about music and although Liam has had his fair share of success with his own self-penned songs, his voice and swagger combined with Lee's undoubted ear for a chorus could create something very special."

However, a spokesperson for Gallagher today (July 22) has confirmed that the reports are incorrect, saying "there isn't any truth in this."

Earlier this year it was reported that Oasis had come to a "gentleman's agreement" to reform. Noel Gallagher subsequently denied that he would be interested in the move, claiming that the rumour came from a "source close to Liam".

Liam also compared his older brother to Katie Hopkins in a separate tweet about the ongoing rumours of an Oasis reunion.

Is Liam Gallagher Working With Lee Mavers?

When Beady Eye split up in October 2014, many Oasis fans hoped it would be the catalyst to bring the Gallagher brothers back together. Despite reports earlier in the year that Liam and Noel have patched things up, rumours that the iconic Manchester band are getting back together remain unconfirmed.

While Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds are currently on tour in support of second album Chasing Yesterday, recent public sightings of the youngest Gallagher brother have been restricted to an appearance at a charity football match in Italy and a performance of ‘My Generation’ on the 20th anniversary edition of TV show TFI Friday.

However, Gigslutz has heard a rumour that Gallagher is itching to return to music and is working with Lee Mavers of The La’s. According to a source close to the Liverpool band, the two frontmen are working together to write an album. We don’t have any details on what the music sounds like or what form it might take, but given Maver’s reticence when it comes to releasing new music, don’t expect the results to appear anytime soon.

Liam Gallagher Blasts Kayne West After Brits Performance

Liam Gallagher took to Twitter earlier today to declare Kanye West “Utter shit” after his performance at the Brit Awards in London.

He then added a second diss “And you’re a million miles away from College Dropout. That’s artistry.” before making a recommendation. Gallagher told Kanye to “check out Lee Mavers,” who’s best known as the singer/guitarist of English pop-rock band the La’s.

Liam Gallagher: 'I Like John Lennon More Than Paul McCartney'

Beady Eye mainman Liam Gallagher has spoken about his love of John Lennon and has revealed that he likes Lennon more than his bandmate Paul McCartney.

The singer, who was speaking in this week's issue of NME which names Lennon as the Ultimate Musical Icon of the last 60 years, said that The Beatles' co-frontman "means everything to me".

Speaking about Lennon, Gallagher said: "John Lennon means everything to me. I wouldn't say he's a better songwriter than McCartney, I'd say they're both different but great. But I like Lennon's stuff more because it's a bit more beautiful, and it's more mad."

He then spoke about Paul McCartney and compared him to his brother Noel, saying that they were both too nice.

He added: "McCartney's like Noel - he's too nice. Lennon was twisted and I like that kinda shit. His voice is the main thing I love. I like his speaking voice! That's pretty fucking mega. But his voice when he sings is the one. Political voice? Don't give a shit, couldn't care less about politics. But everything else - his singing voice, his songs, and his words – means the world to me."

Gallagher then said that he doesn't believe anyone can touch John Lennon as a songwriter, but that he reckons The La's' Lee Mavers has come closest.

He said of this: "As a songwriter, I don't think anyone's touched Lennon and I don't know if they ever will. Lee Mavers could have got near but he went down another road. Our kid's good but he lacks that fucking madness that Lennon had. He's a normal chap who writes decent songs, and Mavers was too mad."

He continued: "But Lennon had all that and more, and then he went somewhere else with it too. It's a constant thing with him, and I don't think I could ever get bored. You get bored of Lennon and you get bored of yourself, don't you? And I ain't getting bored of me."
