Noel Gallagher's Picks His Dream Manchester City 5-A-Side Team And More

Noel Gallagher picks his dream 5-a-side team using Premier League era Man City players. Which City player gave Noel his Cup winning shirt? What was it like sitting alongside Gary Neville during the Manchester Derby? And does Noel really have a say in Pep Guardiola's tactics?

Noel Gallagher On Manchester City, David Silva, Pep Guardiola, Gary Neville, Jose Mourinho And More

Below are a number of quotes from Noel Gallagher on Super Sunday yesterday.

On record-breaking City...

"We did it. We got the record. It was a tough game. When it was 1-1, I didn't know how it was going to pan out. But we were brilliant. You didn't want to lose that record here - I've been here when they play 'glory, glory Man Utd' and not let you out of the stadium. You could get battered here but today we stood up to it. They never stop playing. There's no long balls. It's going to be a great night in Manchester tonight - I don't think I'll be going home."

On David Silva...

"Dave will go down as the best player we ever had, although the longer Kevin De Bruyne stays here, he'll get close. He's the best player I've ever seen play for City. The only thing Pep would change would be that he's not three years younger. There was a moment when City kept the ball by the corner flag for a few minutes and we were saying that the old United team, somebody would have taken those players out - but United were accepting that the game had gone."

On Pep Guardiola...

"When the new owners took over, he was the guy they wanted and it's all coming to fruition now. When he arrived, the club asked me to do an interview with him for City TV and we've kept in touch. He's a dude. There's not many people in football who actually like talking about football - he would gladly talk to you about what's going on. He does exactly what he says on the tin. Long may it continue."

On sitting next to Gary Neville...

"It's great to be sat next to a football legend [turns to Graeme Souness] - and Gary Neville."

On United fans...

"It's payback time - Gary [Neville] has lauded it up at ours many times down the years. It's a pleasure to be sat beside him. Respect to the United fans who clapped Pep Guardiola off - they know they've seen something special today."

On Jose Mourinho's post-match interview...

"The hypocrisy of the man is staggering."

Pep Guardiola On Noel Gallagher, Manchester And More

Taken from an interview with Gary Neville and Pep Guardiola read/watch the full article here.

From the passionate fans to the culture in Manchester, Guardiola spoke highly of the city, and revealed which member of Oasis he messages on a regular basis.

"Even last season it was not good in terms of results, but people here were so nice. Here the culture to respect this sport is fantastic. Everybody speaks about that," Guardiola said.

"The city is alive, in terms of the theatre, the restaurants, the museums, the shows, it's every week. And then there's concerts and concerts. It's nice to live this way because in Catalonia it's completely different.

Neville then asked Guardiola about music in Manchester, to which Guardiola replied: "Of course Oasis. Noel Gallagher - I think I can say we are friends, so we text a lot. I met him two or three times, I went with my family to the last concert here at the Arena, so it's good - with a new band.

"He was in one of the best rock groups in the whole of history.

And when Neville notified Guardiola that Noel would be part of Sky Sports' coverage at Old Trafford, the City boss said: "Oh yeah? That's good, I didn't know. He told me he was going to Old Trafford but I didn't know it was there [with Sky]. Please, take care of him."

Listen To Noel Gallagher's Interview With talkSPORT

Some might say Manchester City have found a brighter day.

Noel Gallagher certainly thinks so, with the rock 'n' roll star saying Pep Guardiola has City playing the greatest football he's ever seen.

As a die-hard fan, the former Oasis man did not hold back on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast about his unwavering love for the Sky Blues’ boss.

He said: “He’s just like one of the lads. He’s a dude, man, he’s a proper dude.

“I literally go into that ground when I go and watch that team and think this is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen in my entire life.”

Gallagher is dipping his toe into football punditry on Sunday, swapping the guitar for the Sky Sports sofa at Old Trafford.

And he is absolutely dreading the game, expecting Jose Mourinho to field a team of assassins against Pep’s twinkle-toed stars.

He added: “Fellaini will be going out given strict instructions to kill either one of Silva or De Bruyne. Or both.

“I don’t like derby day, I’ve never enjoyed it. It’s too stressful.

“Genuine football supporters will want to get the derby out of the way.

“Wake up, call it a draw, and move on.”

Pep Guardiola Orders Oasis To Be Played In The Manchester City Dressing Room

Pep Guardiola has been blaring out Oasis in the dressing room before every game in a bid to inspire his stars.

The Manchester City boss makes his troops listen to some of the band's hits - and the Spaniard's choice of music seems to have done the trick.

City are in red-hot form, taking 22 points from a possible 24 available, to set the pace in the Premier League title race.

Guardiola's men were in seventh heaven at the weekend after hammering Stoke, and The Sun claim the Mancunian band are inspiring the league leaders.

An Etihad source said: “In the last few weeks Pep has decided an Oasis song should be on when players reach the dressing room.

“He’s used a few different ones. Has it been a factor in the recent form? Definitely... maybe.”

City enhanced their title credentials with victory over champions Chelsea a fortnight ago after listening to Oasis hit Don’t Look Back In Anger before taking the field.

The band are massive City supporters, with Noel and Liam Gallagher both regulars at the Etihad.

Liam Gallagher Asked The Blossoms To Write A Tune For Him

Blossoms were in their element after they met both Noel and Liam Gallagher.

But the lads made sure not to tell the feuding brothers they had talked to the other! Frontman Tom Ogden told me that speaking to Liam at Leeds Festival was not just something to tick off the bucket list, as it resulted in the Oasis legend offering to work with the band.

“He told me to write a tune for him and he was up for singing anything,” Tom said.

“He joked that he ‘could polish a turd!’ I’m gonna do it, I’d be mad not to.”

A couple of weeks later, the band found themselves in a dressing room with Noel at the We Are Manchester show on for the official reopening of Manchester Arena after the terror attack in May.

Rick Astley and Pep Guardiola, the Manchester City manager were there,” Tom says.

“That was insane. Noel’s a City fan so he invited Pep over and he was like: ‘Come to my dressing room.’”

Drummer Joe Donovan added: “We didn’t tell the Gallaghers about each other. We can retire happy now we’ve met our heroes.

“If I was the person to get them back together that would be amazing!”

Liam Gallagher On Manchester City, Pep Guardiola And Joe Hart

Liam Gallagher insists Pep Guardiola cannot afford another trophyless season at Manchester City.

The Spaniard enjoyed hugely successful spells at Barcelona and Bayern Munich but had had a tricky first season at the Etihad.

City ended the Premier League campaign 15 points adrift of leaders Chelsea while they lost to Monaco in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Guardiola has already splashed the cash on Bernardo Silva and Ederson with Juventus full-back Dani Alves expected to join them.

And former Oasis frontman believes he can have no excuse if City fall adrift again next term.

"It is absolutely necessary to win the title next season, we cannot leave it to Chelsea again," he told French football magazine So Foot.

"If we [Manchester City] don't win anything then he [Pep Guardiola] won't be able to stay."

City finished above rivals United last term, but Gallagher doesn't think that is enough.

"We have gone beyond that stage. We have to win the title and we must do well in the Champions League," he added.

Gallagher was also critical about Guardiola’s treatment of England No.1 Joe Hart.

The 30-year-old goalkeeper was exiled on loan to Serie A side Torino last year and is understood to be up for sale.

"Pep made a mistake in getting rid of Joe Hart so soon. He shot himself in the foot," Gallagher said.

"He should have kept him for another season, especially with Kompany's injury. Without them two, there was a lack of leadership in defence."

Liam Gallagher On His Favourite Memories Of Maine Road

Liam Gallagher has told Vincent Kompany to win the treble with Manchester City next season in an entertaining interview.

Taking questions from readers and celebrities in a Guardian interview , Gallagher was asked about City's former ground by Kompany.

"I’ve called the Etihad Stadium home for the last nine years," it began, "but you were brought up going to Maine Road to watch City. What are your favourite memories of our old ground?"

The former Oasis star couldn't respond without referring to his views on Kompany and Pep Guardiola's team .

"Yes Vincent, first things first: good to have you back, you’ve been massively missed," he said.

"My Maine Road memories – and there are quite a few – but it’s gotta be when City battered United 5-1 and when Oasis played two gigs there in the 90s.

"To play at the ground of the football club you’ve supported all your life is without doubt the icing on the cake.

"It’s downhill after that – even Knebworth doesn’t come close. Anyway, stay cool, stay fit, enjoy your summer and let’s go win the treble next season."

Gallagher also replied to a reader who asked if he often referred to City as 'the Citizens', a term apparently often used when the team are broadcast on Fox in the United States.

He said: "No. Never. It’s: 'Come on, chaps, let’s go and watch the ******* mighty Blues.'"

Noel Gallagher On Pep Guardiola's First Season At Manchester City

Noel Gallagher shares his thoughts on his beloved Man City's season and appearing on Match of the Day.

Noel Gallagher Believes Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City Revolution Is Heading In The Right Direction

Noel Gallagher has confessed his love for John Stones and believes Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City revolution is heading in the right direction.

City began the season on fire, with Guardiola’s new-look side registering 10 straight victories that shot them to the top of the Premier League table.

Progress since then has been mixed – but Gallagher says he has every faith in Guardiola’s ability to turn City into one of Europe’s top sides and believes the quality of their attacking football is evidence of that.

“The style we play is amazing, it’s brilliant,” he said. “Stones is a class defender and I love him.

“Most of the jigsaw pieces are in place now and Pep’s just got to tinker with it.

“It might take a couple of windows but he’ll get it right.

“I think we’re really close to being a great team. If you look at the Liverpool game and Monaco before that, we take the chances we create, we’re sailing through and we’re still up there.

“But it’s small margins, innit? I think next season’s gonna be vastly different.

“We played brilliantly against Liverpool and could and should have won it – and there’s flashes of brilliance.

“Once he gets another couple of transfer windows I think we’ll be alright. I’m excited about next season, for sure.”

Gallagher has also been impressed by the impact Leroy Sane has had since his emergence as one of Guardiola’s most trusted stars.

After a slow start, his goal against Arsenal in December has been the catalyst for vastly improved form and he is now one of the Premier League’s most exciting young players.

With seven goals in his last 14 games, Gallagher says he's already proving a bargain.

"Sane’s brilliant," he said. "It’s all going in the right direction He’s coming in first six or seven games and we were all wondering whether he was cut out for this and Guardiola was saying give him time and he’s one of the best now.

"He looks like a bargain.

"It’s been a good start for Guardiola because we can still win the FA Cup and things are going in the right direction.

"We’re not doing great but we’re not doing bad."

Noel Gallagher On The Manchester Derby, Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic And More

Oasis legend and Etihad fan chats to Sun Deputy Editor Gordon Smart, giving his derby verdict and firm views on much more.

Oasis legend and Manchester City die-hard Noel Gallagher is desperate to be celebrating a Manchester derby win over Jose Mourinho today.

The rock superstar tells The Sun’s Deputy Editor Gordon Smart exactly what he thinks about the derby — including who is the most overrated player in the United camp.

GORDON SMART: Right Noel, this is it, the big one.  There are a lot of lads from different countries in the City team.  How would you get over how important a game it is for the fans?

NOEL GALLAGHER: I  think most professional footballers, no matter where they come from, would realise  how important a local derby is. They wouldn’t necessarily need to know the history of it. This is the Derby — DO NOT LOSE!

GS: City have so many big games now, does United still feel as special?

NG: It’s the biggest. Nothing comes close. There isn’t even a second biggest.

GS: So if you were sending Pep a text on Saturday morning, what would it say?

NG: Ignore the little gobs**** in their dugout beside you. Bamboozle the fools with semaphore and we shall be victorious. And whatever happens, we’ll still love you.

GS: If United were a band who would they be and why? Same with City?

NG: If Man United were a band they’d be the Bay City Rollers. Extremely popular all over the world (so says the press release). The kids love ’em, mums and dads love ’em, grannies and grandads love ’em  . . . EVERYONE ELSE THINKS THEY’RE S***!

City are the Sex Pistols. Enough said.

GS: You’ve interviewed Pep. How is he different from other recent City managers?

NG: What a dude! He’s very, very cool. I could see players, particularly the younger ones, being mesmerised by him. All  managers are different, though, which is why we love the drama in the dugouts.

GS: Everyone is expecting some dugout drama today. But if Jose had come to City, would you have been more or less happy than with Pep’s appointment?

NG:  I would have been happy with either. But it would have felt slightly like a guilty pleasure clapping the other fella. And  any United “fan” will tell you they DESPERATELY wanted Pep, so it’s the double whammy!

GS: You read the Pep book recently. Have you taken anything from it to influence your life?

NG: Ha!! No. Great read, though. He is the real deal.

GS: And would you go for dinner with Mourinho if he asked?

NG: If he’s paying.

GS: Who will be in their job longer, Jose or Pep?

NG: I’m hoping Pep becomes addicted to the Premier League and stays for a decade. Not a***d what the other fella does. Stay? Go? I truly don’t care.

GS: All right then, how do you assess Paul Pogba? Do you think he’s a player to build United around for a decade or a waste of money?

NG: He’s the Mario Balotelli it’s OK  to like. A walking hairdo.

Bale, Messi, Ronaldo, Suarez? He’s nowhere NEAR that league.

There will be  some funky goal celebrations and bullying of third division opponents in the FA Cup along the way. But, nah mate, not for me!

GS: Do you reckon John Stones can handle the physical presence of Zlatan?

NG: Mangala had him in his pocket TWICE last season and he ain’t exactly up to much!

I think United’s tactics will be clear: Park the bus; hit the big divvy up front; see what happens.

GS: Zlatan was winding Claudio Bravo up this week, but have you got a message for him?

NG: Ibrahimovic? He’s a big dafty, a typical United “fan favourite”. I would bet one of my houses that he wears disgraceful shoes. I make him an unacceptable bozo.

GS: Is there ONE United player you would have in the City team?

NG: David De Gea.

GS: Any Manc Derby secrets/scrapes/shame you can tell us about?

NG: Ha!! Erm . . . no!

GS: Who is the first person you text when City win? Who is first to text you when City lose?

NG: I’m not really a mad texter at football. It drives me mad, to be honest.

My DJ pal Mike Pickering probably would be the first on the phone. I’m not really one for gloating either — unlike that current part-time bass player from the  second-best band ever to come out of Manchester (that’d be The Stone Roses!)

I have nothing to say to United fans win, lose or draw.

GS: But what would you do if your daughter, Anais, showed up at the house with a United player draped around her?

NG: She wouldn’t. She’s a blue. The end.

GS: What did the 6-1 game feel like?

NG: It was truly unbelievable. I was in Dublin, just about to start my first solo tour. It was an unforgettable day. I remember just thinking: “Wow!  Imagine being THAT s***!”

GS: The season’s only a few weeks old but is this match a pointer as to who wins the title?

NG: I  get the same feeling from this one as from the one at Old Trafford at around the same time during the 2011/2012 season.

We were both playing really well coming off the back of huge results against Tottenham and Arsenal. The press were saying it was a title decider then and we smashed them 6-1.

Everyone said we’d walk it from there. But as you know we just managed to sneak the title on the last day. Won’t mean a thing long term.

GS: Would you ever have imagined ten years ago that City would be what they  are now?

NG: No, never. I mean . . . did anyone?

The people who took over the club have yet to put even the slightest foot wrong.

The chairman is a colossal dude and as for the sheikh? If Carlsberg did owners . . .

GS: Who were/are the best City players you have seen?

NG: Dave Silva, Sergio, Yaya, Vinny (Kompany), Joe Hart, Kinkladze, Ali Benarbia, Bell, Lee, The Buzzer (Mike Summerbee). We are living in a golden era now, though.

GS: Who is the best current City player?

NG: It really is a toss-up between Silva and Aguero. ANYTHING is possible with those two.

GS: Finally, predictions for the game — and the season?

NG: I think it’ll be a draw. Maybe it has come a bit too early in the season for us to be fully bedded in with the new regime etc. So I can also see United nicking it 1-0.

As for the league? Surely no one is dumb enough to call it in September?

This league regularly makes fools of us all. I just hope it’s a great season and we somehow come out on top.

Noel Gallagher Says Pep Guardiola Is Like A Jedi

Noel Gallagher has told talkSPORT new Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has not come to England ‘just pick up a cheque’ and insists the Spaniard will strive for move glory in charge at the Etihad.

Guardiola has officially begun his role as City boss having been confirmed as Manuel Pellegrini’s successor back in February.

Having won six league titles, four cup competitions and two Champions League crowns with previous clubs Barcelona and Bayern Munich, Guardiola is expected to turn an inconsistent City side into a force on a domestic and European stage.

Rock legend Gallagher was one of the first to meet and interview the coach at the club’s training ground, and he joined Monday’s Sports Bar show to discuss the encounter.

“I was really impressed by him,” the High Flying Birds frontman told Andy Goldstein and Jason Cundy.

“He’s got that glint in his eye and he’s really young. Most managers come across like school teachers and prison wardens, but Pep feels like he’s one of the lads.

“I was asking him how the current squad would fare and how he’d know if players were going to be with him or not, and he just said: ‘I can smell it on them. I can literally smell it on them’.

“He said it wouldn’t take him long to figure out who is great and who isn’t, who he needs and who he doesn’t.

“Pep has got a legacy to protect, he’s not going to go there to just pick up the cheque and say, ‘oh well that was fun in England’.

“He’s going to want to come and win everything in the first season. That’s the thing I got off him.

“You look into his eyes, and he’s like a Jedi!”

Full Transcript Of Noel Gallagher's Interview With Pep Guardiola

Is there any better person to welcome Pep Guardiola to Manchester City than Noel Gallagher?

The Spaniard, appointed in February to replace Manuel Pellegrini, has arrived in the city this week to begin his task of bringing the Premier League title and European glory to the Etihad.

But before then, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss met arguably the club's most influential and iconic fan - Oasis star Gallagher - and discussed the motivation behind his move to England, his expectations and his desire to work with the club's young players.

NG: So, El Senor: The Man. Welcome to Manchester... I see you brought the weather with you?

PG: The reason I came here was for the weather. I'll have to wear my coat.

NG: A new era at the club. Back to the old badge, a new manager. Why did you choose to come to City now and how tough is the task going to be?

PG: I chose Man City because they wanted me a long time ago, because Txiki and Ferran are here. I've know them for a long time - I played with Txiki and Ferran was on the board during my first period in Barcelona.

The challenge is to play as well as possible. We always want to win titles, how successful we will be will be a consequence of how we are going to play. I want to convince these guys to play as well as possible and try to make the fans across the world to be proud of how we play.

NG: All football fans will be excited to see you and if you weren't coming to City we'd be fascinated to see how it was going to play out.

Thank God you're here, it's going to be amazing. How have you prepared for the Premier League from afar? Have you any preconceptions about how it's going to be?

PG: I don't want any preconceptions before, no. I have to learn as much as possible. I have an idea how we are going to play but I learned in Germany - I arrived there with an idea and after I [found] I should change.

NG: Did you speak to any of the other managers who have been to England? When they come from other countries they quickly become obsessed with the place. They become addicted to the place...

PG: They told me it was so hard, so tough. All the people say 'Pep is not going to adapt good in that way' so that is why I'm here - to try and do it. Some of the people are confident it's going to go well but some of them - in Germany as well - say the way I play is not possible here in the Premier League.

So I said to myself 'why not travel there to try it?' It's a big challenge, not just for me, but always in my teams I was able to involve the players and it's going to happen here as well. When that happens everything will be easy.

NG: Are you ready for the intensity of the league? It's relentless, seven days a week... the games come thick and fast. How do you prepare for the workload?

PG: That is true, when you look at the statistics over the last two, three, four, five years in the Premier League every team wins and then loses the other ones. It's difficult to find one team with five, six victories in a row. It's so difficult to find it. It happened in one season, when Leicester won and was an amazing surprise for everybody.

That is amazing. What I have to do to control that - to avoid that, not to lose more often - I don't know. I've never been here before, I've never experienced here.

That's why I am here. If we are able to win one game and then say 'why can't we win again?' and then another one week later why can't we try again to win like we did in the last two games. That is the reason I am here. In Barcelona and Bayern - in Spain, in Germany - we were able to do that and people say 'ah, because we were in Barcelona and Bayern'. Yes, that's true. People say 'you will not be able to do that in England'. Ok, let's do it. We're going to try.

NG: So, we're at the City Football Academy. An amazing place. Some of our younger teams have won their respective leagues in three different age groups. How are you going to get involved in the academy side?

PG: I grew up at maybe the best academy in the world at Barcelona. When I arrived [as manager] in the first team I knew most of the players - [Sergio] Busquets for example, Pedro and others.

If you have the talent, quality and enough passion to become something in the world of football... if they show me something they will be in my hands. It depends on the quality of the players.

I'm a good trainer but not good enough for the players who don't have quality to convince them to play.

NG: Would you like to see it [the academy] with your own eyes or rely on your coaching team to look at the younger players?

PG: First of all I have to know them. In the pre-season all the big talents are going to join us - all of them. After they have to show me how good they are.

After my intuition (taps nose)... maybe sometimes I'll be right, maybe sometimes I make a mistake. But it depends on them. I'm not a genius to come here and say 'oh you are not good and now you are good'. But people tell me the academy at Manchester City compared to other places they have very very good talents.

NG: There are seven top managers in the world, only two don't work in the Premier League now - Carlo Ancelotti and Diego Simeone. Are you looking forward to locking horns with Jurgen Klopp, Claudio Ranieri, Antonio Conte... another guy across the road?

PG: Of course we know each other and the way they play. We're going to start to play and afterwards we're going to meet each other better. You have an idea but it depends on the quality of players you have. Normally I have a very good relationship with my colleagues so it is not a problem.

NG: Manchester is to become the centre of the football universe with two new coaches. The press are relentless... how do you plan to deal with that?

PG: The managers when we win and happy in the press conference we are funny guys, comfortable with the media. When you lose and people say b******* you are angry and don't speak properly so that is how it is. But I lived in Barcelona - the people in Madrid are absolutely crazy. I've never had a press conference with the English media here and I'm looking forward to what's going on. I can survive, no problem.

NG: You say you only really stay anywhere for three or four years, so do you intend to build a legacy here or at least put the foundations in place?

PG: I have come to learn – that's why I move on. If I was building legacies then I would have stayed in Barcelona.

NG: Is it true that Stuart Pearce turned you down when you were a player?

PG: I came here at when the club was at the other training ground. I have to say that Stuart Pearce was right because I came here at 33, 34 years old and at that age for a player it was a disaster. It was intelligent not to pick me up. My dream was to play in the Premier League. He offered me six months but I would have had to move my family and so in the end we decided not but if you analyse my physical condition at the time I think it was the right decision.

NG: Were you looking at Manchester City last season and worrying we wouldn't get in the Champions League? We were worried you weren't going to bother coming!

PG: I wasn't worried. I was coming to Manchester, I was never going to stay at home. But we are not in the Champions League, we have to be clear. That situation is now in this moment better than Manchester United's though.

NG: We like to think you went out of your way to avoid City in the Champions League last season. What would it have been like to play us?

PG: I don't know the players from Manchester City so it wasn't a problem. I know some to say hello to but not personally to have a coffee with or anything. It's better like this because you can make decisions easier but we are going to meet each other. I have spoken to Vincent Kompany and we have had a little brief.

NG: You have a reputation of being a very intense coach, but when you left Bayern Munich the players only had great things to say about you. How do you balance driving the players on but still maintaining their respect?

PG: It's difficult to think about what people think about you. I think they know I am here 24 hours a day thinking about them. I love my job and what I do. They have to know and they will realise that I am here just thinking and working for them. That is maybe the reason why some of them – because people who don't play hate me! – but those who try to understand the game and why we do some things and not the other situation we have a good relationship.

At the end our job is to convince the other guy that this is the best way to cross the road. Tactics are important, as are training and facilities but in the end it is what I have to do to convince them. Maybe with you, we take a beer in the bar and this will convince you and with other ones maybe we talk tactics, or with others maybe we don't talk football. It depends on the player.

NG: How would you sum up your time in Bayern Munich now, looking back on it?

PG: It was amazing. I know for some people it was a big failure because we didn't win the Champions League but for the other side it was one of the best decisions in my life to go there. When I went to America after my time at Barcelona I went there to improve my level of English but after two months I signed the contract at Bayern Munich.

At Bayern it is so demanding. You have to win and win and win or they sack you. But it is a fantastic club and especially during my time there we had amazing players with a huge mentality. That is the big difference.

NG: Three years from now when you threaten to leave and we tie you to a chair, because we won't let you leave, what does success look like for Manchester City?

PG: For the media it is how many titles you are going to win. That is success or not. But while titles are amazing, two days after you lift it people say what's next? The process here is being comfortable working with these guys. At the end my life depends on that. I'll be happy when we decide to play in a way and it works. I am sure the club will be fantastic and the people I am working with are going to help me. I am sure that will happen. It happened at Barcelona and it happened at Bayern Munich.

It will happen here. We are going to fight every day to lift the titles but especially for the people when the game finishes and they think '90 minutes that was not bad, I would have preferred to be here than in the bar' that will be a good signal. Finally, the relationship with the people. Maybe because I am a Latin guy I have to be close with the guys, to say 'I'm going to kill you' and five minutes later to love each other. I need that to be happy and I hope that in three years that is going to happen.

NG: The stadiums are always full in England so what are you expecting from the fans and the atmosphere?

PG: When I came to England to play in the Champions League with Barcelona and Bayern Munich the atmosphere was the big difference compared to the rest of the world. There is no doubt about that. I hope they are going to help me to please our fans. We need their help. Our fans are going to be proud of our players. They are going to fight and they are going to be proud to be Manchester City fans. I am sure of that.

Noel Gallagher Says Pep Guardiola Has A Massive Job On His Hands At Manchester City

Manchester City superfan Noel Gallagher has told talkSPORT this season will be a ‘massive failure’ if the Blues fail to qualify for next year’s Champions League.

It’s been a disastrous end of the season for outgoing manager Manuel Pellegrini, with City bowing out of the Champions League semi-final in pathetic fashion against Real Madrid, while their Premier League top four hopes have also crumbled in recent weeks.

A slide in results, claiming just one win in four games, means Man City now need West Ham to beat Manchester United on Tuesday night to keep their chances alive.

If United win their final two games of the season, City - who only have one more game to play -  win finish fifth.

And Gallagher joined the Sports Bar on Monday night to vent his fury and frustration with the team.

“If we end up failing to qualify for the Champions League, this season will be a massive failure - even though we won the League Cup,” the English rock legend and High Flying Birds frontman told talkSPORT.

“The fact a top four place is not in our hands is unfathomable.

“It’s an absolutely disgrace that City are waiting on West Ham to do us a favour against Manchester United.

"And Leicester are 17 points in front of us – that’s just insane!

“We’re in big trouble here, because if we don’t qualify for the Champions League, how are we going to attract the players who are rumoured to be coming?

“There’s talk of big players coming in the summer, and if they all want to play in the Champions League, are they going to come?

“Pep has a massive job on his hands.”

Pellegrini had the chance to end his reign at the club with glory, after guiding City to their first ever Champions League semi-final.

But, despite playing in what was arguably the biggest game in the club’s history, the Blues’ stars failed to turn up – registering just one shot on target as Real won 1-0 to progress to the final against Atletico Madrid.

And Gallagher has plenty to say about that, too.

“I was out there in Madrid and the whole thing was just so disappointing, the two legs were really deflating,” he added. “To not muster a shot on target was a pretty damning statistic.

“I was walking out of the Bernabeu thinking, ‘I would have rather got beat 5-0’.

“If a manager like Mourinho, Klopp or Mancini was on the touchline instead of Pellegrini, would the team have mustered a bit more fight? I think they would have. I’m looked over at the manager during the game, and he’s  stood with his hands in his pockets and I’m just thinking, ‘come on man!’

“Who wants to get to the semi-final of the Champions League and finish fifth in the Premier League? No one!

“I would have rather gone out in the last-16 and finished third.”
