Lyrics

"Birth Of An Accidental Hipster"

And if I can make it home by Tuesday
That’s if I can make it home at all
I’m headed out in the sunshine, babe
Feeling to your knees
Nobody else but my only self

Do you know
Where we go?
Do you know
When we go?

High in a rooftop, singing a song
Choirs of angels all sing along
It’s late and I’m scared, so please, don’t be long
I’m still not sure where I came from
Feeling low

Gone are the doubts of clouds I had before
Gone are the blinkers ’round my eyes
I’m heading out in the sunshine, babe
Feeling to your knees
Nobody else but my only self

Do you know
Where we go?
Do you know (Old friends say, oh, he’s lost his way)
When we go? (But they can’t see what I can see)
Do you know (Oh, I’ll never come back)
Where we go? (I’m headed out in the sunshine, baby)
Do you know
Where we go?

High in a rooftop, singing a song
Choirs of angels all sing along
It’s late and I’m scared, so please, don’t be long
I’m still not sure where I came from
Feeling low

Noel Gallagher Confirms He's Writing For A New Monkees Album With Paul Weller

In an exclusive interview with theMusic.com.au this week, Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher confimed rumours he was penning a song with The Jam's Paul Weller, for an upcoming Monkees record.

Gallagher told us, "Yeah, they asked me to write a song and as luck would have it, I happened to have half a song lying around that I’d been writing with Paul Weller over the last couple of months and we sent it to them and they like it and we’ve now gotta go and finish it off, but we didn’t expect them to go and tell fucking the whole world that it was happening because now we have to finish it off."

The record, reportedly titled Good Times!, is due for release on 10 June to coincide with The Monkees' 50th anniversary. All three surviving members, Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork, are involved.

"I hope the second half’s as good as the first half. But me and Paul are very busy dudes. We’re all-conquering, ageing mods and, you know, it’s fucking hard to find the time sometimes," Gallagher continued.

NME reports that Weezer's Rivers Cuomo and Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard have also been writing for the project, making the record a collaboration between a slew of enigmatic frontmen. Cuomo's song is rumoured to be titled She Makes Me Laugh, while Gibbard is said to have written a track called Me & Magdalena.

Have Noel Gallagher And Paul Weller Written A Song Together For The New Monkees Album?

Noel Gallagher and Paul Weller have been reportedly working on a new song for The Monkees’ 50th anniversary album, Good Times.

The band recently confirmed that they will be releasing their first album in 20 years. Justus was their last album, released in 1996.

Weezer’s River Cuomo and Death Cab For a Cutie’s Ben Gibbard will appear on the record. Cuomo’s track will be called ‘She Makes Me Laugh’, whilst Gibbard’s track is called ‘Me & Magdalena’.

No more details are yet known about the Gallagher / Weller collaboration for the album, but we hope it’s true.

Good Times will also feature a handful of songs that were written for the Monkees in the 60s that they did not release, including Neil Diamonds ‘Love to Love’, Boyce and Hart’s ‘Whatever’s Right’ and Carole Kng’s ‘Wasn’t Born To Follow’.

The group reformed after a decade-long hiatus in 2011 for a 45th anniversary tour that featured a three-man line up of Micky Dolenz, Peter Tork and Davy Jones. Jones died of a sudden heart attack the following year, leaving Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork as the only two remaining members.

Noel Gallagher Has Written A Song For 'The Monkees' New Album

The Monkees are celebrating their 50th anniversary by releasing a new album, Good Times!, with songs written by Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo, Oasis’ Noel Gallagher, Death Cab For Cutie’s Ben Gibbard, Neil Diamond, Carol King, and more.

The Monkees, who started as a television band on the ‘60s TV series of the same name and eventually formed a real band, have been doing reunion tours and albums since the 1980s. Good Times!, which arrives on June 10th, will be the group’s first release since the passing of Davy Jones in 2012 and their last album, 1997’s Justus. The album is produced by Fountains of Wayne bassist Adam Schlesinger.

“I’m not a big music listener outside of Frank Sinatra during martini hour, but I began doing research and I realized that the whole indie rock scene is all about recapturing that 1960s jangly guitar sound of the Monkees, amongst many other groups, of course,” singer Micky Dolenz told Rolling Stone. “One reason we don’t have a final track listing yet is because once we put the word out all these people said they wanted to get involved.”

Founding member Michael Nesmith is not participating. The group has also announced their world tour dates.
