The Blossoms Tom Ogden On Liam And Noel Gallagher

Taken from an interview with Tom Ogden from the Blossoms, read the full interview here.

What’s it like being out on the road with Noel?

You probably won’t believe this but Noel is an absolute gentleman. This has been a really enjoyable tour for us. After the shows he will always have a drink with us, he watches the football with us, he is just a really talented and sound kind of guy. There are no egos on tour. The first gig I saw was Oasis at Heaton Park in Manchester in 2009.

Would you say that you got the better brother out of the two?

I don’t know about that (laughs). I don’t really want to pledge allegiance to either side. We have met Liam as well and he really was a proper gent. I have nothing but good things to say about them both.

Liam Gallagher Asked The Blossoms To Write A Tune For Him

Blossoms were in their element after they met both Noel and Liam Gallagher.

But the lads made sure not to tell the feuding brothers they had talked to the other! Frontman Tom Ogden told me that speaking to Liam at Leeds Festival was not just something to tick off the bucket list, as it resulted in the Oasis legend offering to work with the band.

“He told me to write a tune for him and he was up for singing anything,” Tom said.

“He joked that he ‘could polish a turd!’ I’m gonna do it, I’d be mad not to.”

A couple of weeks later, the band found themselves in a dressing room with Noel at the We Are Manchester show on for the official reopening of Manchester Arena after the terror attack in May.

Rick Astley and Pep Guardiola, the Manchester City manager were there,” Tom says.

“That was insane. Noel’s a City fan so he invited Pep over and he was like: ‘Come to my dressing room.’”

Drummer Joe Donovan added: “We didn’t tell the Gallaghers about each other. We can retire happy now we’ve met our heroes.

“If I was the person to get them back together that would be amazing!”

Blossoms Want To Be As Big As Oasis

Blossoms want to be as huge as Oasis and say Liam and Noel Gallagher have taught them to think big as a band.

The 'Charlemagne' hitmakers - Tom Ogden, Charlie Salt, Josh Dewhurst, Joe Donovan and Myles Kellock - cite the legendary Manchester group as one of their biggest influences and they have an infinity with the rock 'n' roll siblings because they are from nearby Stockport in England.

As much as Liam and Noel's music has had an impact of their songwriting the boys also have taken a lot from the pair's confidence - with Noel making statements such as "we're not arrogant, we just believe we're the best band in the world" - and learned that they should aim to be as successful as possible and try and take their songs around the world.

In an interview with The I Paper, Tom - whose first concert was watching Oasis play a massive open air show at Manchester's Heaton Park - said: "Oasis come from a similar area to us: Burnage is about is about six bus stops away from Stockport on the way to Manchester. We've grown up listening to their attitudes, what they say about there being no limit. I've never understood wanting to be an underground band. I just want to write big choruses and be massive."

Blossoms supported fellow Manchester indie legends The Stone Roses at the Etihad Stadium last summer and since the release of their self-titled debut album their fan base has been growing and growing.

And the band believe the secret to their popularity is that they are just the same as their fans and play as many gigs as possible.

Tom said: "People like people who work hard. We did 150 gigs last year - 43 flights and 45 festivals. No other band will have done as many ... There are more people who sit in economy class than business. We appeal to economy."

The Blossoms Think Liam Gallagher Deserves To Win A BRIT Award Every Year

The band revealed they're fan of the former Oasis frontman and would probably "lick his face" if they met him.

Blossoms think Liam Gallagher deserves to win a BRIT Award every year because "he's Liam Gallagher".

The Charlemagne five-piece attended this year's ceremony at London's The O2 arena on Wednesday night (22.02.17), where they were nominated for British Breakthrough Act.

Speaking to NME, frontman Tom Ogden said: "Liam Gallagher should win an award every year, just for being Liam Gallagher. What I've heard his solo album sounds exciting."

Drummer Joe Donovan is also a massive fan of the Supersonic star and his older sibling Noel Gallagher, but fears he would "lick his face" if they ever met.

He added: "We're big fans of the Gallaghers and Oasis, so anything they do is gonna be dead exciting. I just hope I don't bump into him at one of these things because I'm a full-on fan boy and I'd just lick his face."

Blossoms Want Liam Gallagher To Play Fred Perry In Movie

The Stockport five-piece want to put the rock ’n’ roller’s tennis skills to the test and play the legend, who won Wimbledon three times.

Fred was known as a cocky player, and Blossoms reckon Liam, 43, would be perfect to portray the sports star’s swagger.

Singer Tom Ogden told me: “If we make any money from our album we’ll fund a film about Fred Perry’s years living in Hollywood.

“He was hated by all the film stars because he was a proper rock ’n’ roller. Liam is the most rock ’n’ roll lead singer of all time, so he’d be perfect.”

Fred was from Stockport too, and, although Liam has no acting experience, Tom added: “If you’ve got a rock ’n’ roll tennis player who’s from a similar area of the country as Liam, it’d make sense to have him play Fred.”

Tom, 23, added: “The film would be one-third gritty, Northern kitchen-sink drama, one-third drama about getting revenge on Wimbledon who disowned Fred for being a lad, and one-third like a Pixar cartoon, as we’d want an animated tennis ball playing Fred’s best mate!”

Blossoms self-titled debut album is expected to go to No1 tomorrow.
