Noel Gallagher First Live Dates Confirmed

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds have confirmed their debut live shows will take place in Ireland and the UK in October.

As previously announced by Noel at his recent press conference the first ever Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds gig will take place in Dublin at the city's Olympia Theatre on 23rd October. The concert will mark Noel's first live performance since his two headlining slots at London's Royal Albert Hall for last year's Teenage Cancer Trusts shows. The gigs will also be Noel's first ever live set with the High Flying Birds.

The first string of gigs are:

Dublin, Olympia Theatre - 23rd October
Edinburgh, Usher Hall - 27th October
London, HMV Hammersmith Apollo - 29th October

Noel's told Xfm his other half hasn't been as complimentary about his new stuff as you'd expect...

Noel Gallagher's solo debut album - released under the moniker Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - is out October 17.

Noel explained that he decided to release under the extended title after being inspired by Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac.

"I thought, Ah! What if I was Noel Gallagher's... something," he explained.

"And then maybe a month passed and I was looking through something and there's a song by Jefferson Airplane called High Flying Birds. And that name jumped out. I had a bit of a eureka moment, so I wrote it down. I thought, that looks really cool. I doesn't mean anything, you know?"

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds has just announced three live dates for October - Dublin Olympia Theatre (23), Edinburgh Usher Hall (27) and London HMV Hammersmith Apollo (29) - where many fans will get to hear the new material for the first time.

Noel's told Xfm that the reaction from "the people who need to hear it" has all been positive so far.

"I literally wouldn't be putting it out if it was not the best that I could do at that point. Whether my circle of friends like it or not is irrelevant," he continued.

And he hasn't made the often repeated musician mistake of surrounding himself with sycophants, "I've got to say, my missus is not the biggest fan of anything I've ever done ever. She's a bit like... meh. It's not Kasabian, is it? Do you know what I mean?"

He went on to explain, "There's one on the new album she really doesn't like. The last track. When she saw the track listing, she said "Oh, you've not included that bloody song have you?" Someone might like it. She's from Scotland, I know my place. She's more Northern than I am."

Noel Gallagher Confirms He's Lazy

Former Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher says that he doesn’t like being a frontman because he is very lazy and the job requires a lot of hard work.

‘There’s a lot of work involved in this and I’m a lazy ****. But I think I’ll be alright. I’d got to start again from scratch. I’m not a frontman, now I have to be the guy up the front giving it all the jazz hands,’ contactmusic.com quoted Gallagher as saying.

‘I’ve been in a band with a great frontman, and I was a great guitarist and backing vocalist who chirped in with the odd funny quip. It was perfect. This is just a major pain in the b******s. But I’m getting used to the idea,’ he added.

The 44-year-old, who claims Oasis split after brother Liam attacked him backstage with a guitar, also said that many people wrongly believed he was relieved when the band split.

‘I was at a party and Richard Ashcroft was there. He said, ‘I bet it’s a relief’. I said, ‘No, actually, it’s a f***ing pain in the arse.’ He said, ‘I remember with The Verve, when I left it was a relief.’ I said, ‘I don’t give a f**k about The Verve.’ ‘ he said

Noel Gallagher misses working with Gem Archer but says he'll only fully realise his Oasis bandmates are not with him anymore when he goes on the road.

Noel Gallagher will only realise he is not with his Oasis bandmates anymore when he goes on the road.

The guitarist quit the group in August 2009 due to tensions with his brother Liam - who went on to form Beady Eye with the other members of Oasis, Gem Archer, Chris Sharrock and Andy Bell - and particularly misses working with Gem, but says the actuality of the split still hasn't hit him.

Noel - who is now fronting Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - said: "I miss Gem. We used to be a f***ing great team, we did all my demos together. He's a brilliant guitarist and bass player and if anything was unfinished he would say, 'We can make this better'.

"It's only going to dawn on me that the others aren't there when I'm standing in the corridor waiting to go on for the first gig. Then you might feel it.

"I haven't done a gig without Gem for how long, that will be weird."

Gem joined Oasis as rhythm guitarist in 1999 and played with the band until their split in 2009.

Liam has since been very vocal about the fact their split is final, and didn't even attend Noel's wedding.

He has said of Noel: "Him and me are over and done with. This is the real deal.

"I'd like to think we grow up to be friends later on but I've no time for that just yet. The way I view Oasis now is that's it like having a child from a previous relationship."

Beady Eye Chats With MTV News

MTV News chats with Beady Eye about music, touring, and the infamous Oasis brother fued.

The Oasis brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher have always been a little… competitive? But with the release of Noel’s solo single this week, MTV News caught up with Liam and his band Beady Eye to talk about music, touring… and of course, his infamous sibling.

Beady Eye (which is made up of all members from Oasis, minus Noel) made their first appearance as a band in Glasgow in March, we asked the band what that experience was like.

“Yeah, I think you shit. But as soon as you get onstage, you’re not [nervous] through the whole gig, as soon as your guitar starts and you dodge your first couple bottles [you’re fine]… then you can start showing off” joked Liam

The band’s new album is called Different Gear, Still Speeding which some believe is a reference to the absense of his brother who left Oasis in 2009 and left a message on the bands official site claiming he was “bullied” out of the group.

We asked the band if they saw the statement, or how that experience played out.

Liam said: “I see it [the statement] everyday when I wake up… I just know he lies. Noel wasn’t bullied out of the band. And then he writes a statement like that saying ‘Oh, I’ve been bullied out of the band’ and management and all that, and two days later, the people he reckons bullied him, and the people that weren’t listening to his little sob story, were around at his house having tea on his lawn. I’m just disappointed for him, and his fans…. I have my days [bad days] but Noel Gallagher can be a little b*tch when he wants to be”

We reminded the guys that when Oasis fuirst started they said they wanted to be the “biggest, best band in the world”. We asked what they hoped for Beady Eye.

“Same thing. Without a doubt. Do you want a band to be second best?”

In his recent Press conference Noel said that Mikey had played with Oasis on the Be Here Now tour, in fact his live appearances go back to Maine Road and Knebworth, where he played harmonica. He also appeared on both 'Be Here Now' and 'Heathen Chemistry'

Former Zuton who Noel says "just called me up one afternoon and said, 'Have you got a bass player?" Russell was the last to join the Flying Birds.

Twin brother of longtime Noel associate Paul 'Strangeboy' Stacey who has contributed to a number of Oasis records. The pair were in a 90's band together called 'The Lemon Trees' that group featured Guy Chambers who co-wrote a number of songs with Robbie Williams.

Noel Gallagher: Leaving Oasis Is Like Quitting Drugs

The Oasis legend has compared the wrench of leaving the band behind him and kicking off his solo career to giving up drugs.

Noel Gallagher is now fronting his new project Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds after quitting Oasis and admits there is less pressure on the band members. Speaking about his new group in Q Magazine, Noel says: “They’re a collective more than a band. Anyone can join and anyone can leave.

“I was sat in bed one night before I got my band together. I said to my wife, ‘It’s just dawned on me, I’ve got to find five other people. I won’t know their wives or girlfriends or mates and I’ve got to share a tour bus with them. It’s like giving up drugs and moving on to a new circle of friends.”

And it seems finding the right people for his “collective” proved to be something of a dilemma. Noel adds: “I had two options, you either get a load of kids in and then you end up looking like Bryan Ferry. Or you don’t and you have mates – but then I don’t know many 44-year-olds that aren’t bald. But it fell in to place nicely. It’s the noble thing to do. Bands are for the young.”

Being the star attraction in his band also proved to be a stumbling block for Noel. He reminisced about the days of Oasis when he could blend in to the background.

“I’ve been in a band with a great front man and I was a great guitarist and backing vocalist who chirped in with the odd funny quip. It was perfect. This is just a major pain in the b*******. But I’m getting used to the idea.”

Noel Gallagher Stunned At Unfinished Tracks On Youtube

Noel Gallagher has vowed to join the digital age and learn about modern technology after discovering fans were finishing his half-written songs and posting them online.

The former Oasis star likes to work on ideas for new tracks during concert soundchecks, and he had no idea onlookers were secretly recording him.

He later found out the bootleg tapes of his embryonic songs had been posted on YouTube.com - and was stunned to see fans had been completing the tracks for him.

Gallagher tells Mojo magazine, "Some were written on the last (Oasis) tour, when I used to feel them out by getting my acoustic guitar and strumming them after soundcheck, because you sound like Jesus in a big arena. A year later someone comes up to me and says: 'Have you got a song called If I Had A Gun?'. (I said) 'Yes... why?' There wasn't even a demo of this.

"Turns out some kids have been taping the soundchecks on mobile phones and posting them up on the internet. I haven't got a computer and I'm completely oblivious to it all, so I check it out and there are kids on YouTube finishing them off! I'm thinking, 'They're covering my songs before I've written them?'. I need to keep an eye on this s**t."

Noel Gallagher: ‘I’m Not a Guitarist, I’m a Songwriter’

Ex-Oasis kingpin Noel Gallagher has spoken about his forthcoming solo album, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.

Interviewed by the U.K.’s Mojo magazine, Noel also lifts the lid on the physical battles with singer/brother Liam that split Oasis in 2009.

“There was a bit of kung-fu,” says Noel, who says the band finally split when Liam threw a plum (yes, the soft fruit) and then swung a guitar at Noel’s head. “It could have taken my face off,” says Noel, “so I may have smashed it to bits.”

Of his High Flying Birds album, due in October, Noel Gallagher says he hasn’t tried to write songs any differently. “I never think about how a song compares to other stuff, as long as I’m getting across what I’m trying to. Singers think about what they’re singing. I’m not a singer. Guitarists think about what they’re playing. I’m not a guitarist… I’m a songwriter.

“That’s actually the biggest change. I don’t have to tell someone what the song’s about. In that sense, it’s easier.”

Noel Gallagher also talked about his first solo single, “People Who Will Be (The Death of You and Me).”

“People think it was a conscious decision to say: ‘Right, I’m going to do something different.’ But this is just what came out. It’s my favorite song on the album because when the brass kicks in you are in New Orleans.”

Liam Gallagher Left 'Creepy' Messages For Noel

Liam Gallagher left a series of "weird and creepy" messages on his brother Noel's voicemail as Oasis fell apart.

The pair haven't spoken since the Wonderwall hitmakers split following a backstage bust-up at a gig in Paris, France in 2009.
Noel Gallagher recently insisted Liam sparked the spat by demanding to advertise his fashion range in Oasis tour programmes - and now he's accused the singer of attempting to unnerve him with late-night phone messages.

The guitarist claims his brother's campaign was so prolific he was forced to change his number - and alleges Liam then targeted his girlfriend instead.

Gallagher tells Mojo magazine, "The tour started and everything was all right, but then the f**king clothing thing started up, and he wanted to advertise in the tour programme. I said no... He hit the f**king roof.

"From then on I would be getting up in the morning and our answering machine would have strange messages from him in the middle of the night. It started off as offensive, then weird, and finally creepy. We changed our number. I'd go in the next day and say, 'What was that all about?' and he'd say, 'I don't know what you're talking about.'

"When we changed our number he started leaving messages on my (girlfriend's) phone. She'd get up in the morning and there would be things like, 'Tell your f**king boyfriend...'. This was insane."

Liam Gallagher declined to comment on his brother's claims.
