On This Day In Oasis History...
Oasis' '(What's the Story) Morning Glory?' was released on October 2nd 1995.The Daily Mirror reported the day after release that central London HMV stores were selling copies of the album at a rate of two per minute.
On February 16th 2010, Oasis' album '(What's The Story) Morning Glory?' won the award for the best album of the past 30 years at the Brit Awards ceremony at Earl's Court in London.
Oasis' (What's The Story) Morning Glory? was easily the biggest selling album in the UK in the 1990s. It was comfortably ahead of Simply Red 'Stars 'and The Spice Girls 'Spice.
At the end of the first week of sales, the album had sold a record-breaking 347,000 copies, making it (at the time) the second-fastest-selling album in British history, behind Michael Jackson's Bad.
It entered the UK charts at number 1, it stayed around the top three for the rest of the year before a 6-week stay at the top in mid January, followed by a further three weeks at number 1 in March.
In total, the album didn't leave the top three for an astonishing seven months
On October 2nd 1995 Oasis played at the Empress Ballroom in Blackpool, England.

The album was completely remastered and featured B sides, plus unreleased and rare tracks including demos and live recordings.

On Friday October 2nd Oasis' (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? )’ turns 25 years old.
YouTube will host an official album playback and singalong with fans being encouraged to share photographs, videos and memories of the album using the #SomeMightSing along with #MorningGlory25 hashtags.
