More On The Gallagher's Secret Sister

The estranged father of Oasis rockers Liam and Noel Gallagher has confirmed press reports that the musicians have a secret sister. Tommy Gallaher was married to Liam and Noel's mother Peggy when he fathered a love child, Emma Davies, who was born only 11 months after Liam in 1973. The 62-year-old says, "Yes, it's true. I'm her dad and I'm happy to say so." The Wondewall hitmakers have refused to have any contact with their father since he divorced their mother in 1986.

Noel To Write For Monkeys?

Noel Gallagher wants to write songs for his new drinking buddies Arctic Monkeys.

The 39-year-old Oasis star was impressed by the lads after ex-Monkey Andy Nicholson, 20, stuffed him in a tequila drinking contest in May.

And a pal said: "Noel doesn't want to tour any more. He'd prefer to write for other people and top of the list is the Arctic Monkeys.

"He really likes lead singer Alex Turner and thinks they could be the next Oasis."

The Gallaghers Are Set To Become The Biggest Unsigned Band In The World With Their New "Definitive Collection"

Oasis have announced that they will release a new album this year.

Despite warning fans that they would not be releasing anything before 2007, the band have confirmed that new record 'Stop The Clocks' will come out on November 20. The record represents a U-turn for the group. It collects together Oasis' best moments despite Noel Gallagher's insistence that the band would never release a greatest hits.

"This is from the horse's mouth. We will only do a best of when we split up. The only thing we've got that might be in the pipeline next year will be another B-sides album, all the B-sides from 'Standing...' up to this lot," he told NME last year. "I never understood Manics and Blur putting out Best Ofs - I mean, what the f**k's all that about? It's kind of saying that whatever you're gonna do from there on is not gonna be your best. We'll put out a Best Of when we stop. No Best Of or singles album until it's done and dusted."

However, rather than collect together the flipsides from the group's recent singles, Oasis are now opting for a "definitive collection" with tracks handpicked by the band members themselves - although even this Noel was not initially keen on. "I think they're [the record label] going to force our hand. I really wouldn't want to do it, but if they put one out we'll have to get involved otherwise it will be s**t," he explained last December. "It's all a scam. You should put one out only when you're finished - in chronological order. But I have a feeling they'll do the dirty on us."
So far the band have revealed the 18 track compilation will contain the "greatest B-side ever" 'Acquiesce' and 'Half The World Away', the Noel-fronted song that became the theme tune to The Royle Family. Other selections include singles 'Supersonic', 'Wonderwall' and 'The Importance Of Being Idle', while the band are finalising what else they want to make the cut.

Significantly, the release of 'Stop The Clocks' marks the end of Oasis' current deal with their label SonyBMG, and with Noel indicating he would look for a new label after the contract was up, Oasis look set to start 2007 as the biggest unsigned band on the planet. "Any artist at the end of their deal, still selling albums, is in a position to negotiate a much stronger deal," explained Stuart Clarke of music business bible Music Week. "Oasis are in the financial position where they don't need record company investment to make records; they can approach their deals differently."

It's likely they could command something upwards £3 Million for a one record deal with a major label. "The band may choose to make the albums using their own money," explained Clarke, "and deliver a finished product to the label that makes the strongest offer, as we saw with Thom Yorke's solo record 'The Eraser' recently."

For now though the band are planning to take a "Sabbatical" before they're expected to start work on new material next year.

Russell Brand With Oasis At KOKO

Russell Brand is hosting Oasis' only gig this year at KOKO on November 2, getting Noel to support him for drugs charity Focus 12. He explains how he lured the Gallagher out of his sabbatical:

"It's a great charity, but they never have enough money and I was really glad that I had a place to go to, so I thought I'd do a gig. Noel came and saw me do stand up a while ago, he liked it and since then we've become friends. He comes on my BBC 6Music show every week and mucks about, so I asked him to do the gig, so he said, 'Yeah I'll do it for your f***ing junkie mates if you want'.

A typically insensitive Gallagher attitude to a serious issue, but as long as he's agreed to turn up we can tolerate his boorishness. Did I insist on him supporting me? No, I'm aware that sounds ridiculous but he insisted on it. He doesn't want people to think it's his night, he doesn't want the burden of responsibility on his already arthritic shoulders.

He's got a Best Of coming out around the gig? Bloody hell! For a man whose entire career have ripped off The Beatles it strikes me that having a Best Of CD is one step to far! (Laughs).

Oasis Are Mad Fer The Hits

Its the hottest talking point across the country which tracks should appear on the Oasis greatest hits album? On Wednesday I revealed the band are launching an 18-track double album, Stop The Clocks, in November.

So far Noel and Liam Gallagher have only let us in on songs they will definitely include Acquiesce, Half The World Away, Wonderwall and Supersonic. But now Ive uncovered the full list of tracks Noel wants to make up the collection.

And it has thrown up a few surprises including two previously unreleased tunes. Noel has had the two new songs up his sleeve for years title track Stop The Clocks and Boy With The Blues. Way back in October 2002 Noel said: I have a song called Stop The Clocks, which at the moment is acoustic, but could be massive. I wrote it quite recently and I think its the best song Ive ever written. The few people that have heard it really like it.

Ive got so bored waiting for TheLa's to come back that it sounds like how Id want them to if they did return. Later that year Noel added: It was written while Liam was doing vocals for Stop Crying Your Heart Out. The album was based round that song, its a kind of long Champagne Supernova-thing. Its got fantastic lyrics and a great vibe. Weve got six or seven versions of it because none of them quite sat in the pocket.

Noel gave the song a rare outing at the Zanzibar Club in Liverpool back in 2003 in an acoustic session with bandmate Gem Archer.

The rest of the album includes their eight No1 singles, three other singles, three B-sides and two album tracks. But there are some big surprises.

I never thought Noel would have rated Lyla, The Importance Of Being Idle and Go Let It Out ahead of legendary rock anthems such as Stop Crying Your Heart Out.

Rock supergroup Oasis have slammed reports they are to disband following the release of a greatest hits album later this year.

Stop The Clocks will feature 18 of the British band's best tracks, including Wonderwall, Half The World Away and Supersonic, as well as some lesser-known B-sides.

But the Gallagher brothers-fronted group deny the record heralds their demise, insisting it's merely their "dream set list.

"They say: "This is not a full stop, but merely a time out and a chance for the world to review the immense contribution Oasis have made to rock 'n' roll."

A spokeswoman for the band adds: "(There's) absolutely no truth in these rumours.

"They've been touring for nearly two years and finished in May, and then they said they were going to take some time out."

Liam & Noel's Secret Oa-sis

Oasis stars Noel and Liam Gallagher have a secret sister they don't even know exists, the News of the World can sensationally reveal today.

Pretty Emma Davies, 32, was the result of an affair the brothers' love-rat dad Tommy had with her mum June.

Oasis fan Emma discovered the truth when she bought the band's hit album (What's The Story) Morning Glory in 1996 — and June blurted out the bombshell news.

Since then she has hidden her heart-rending secret — even when she came within feet of millionaire half-brother Liam while working as a chambermaid at a luxury hotel where he was staying.

But now she has put aside her fears of being rejected by the battling brothers to come forward. And her story is backed up by legal maintenance documents that prove she is telling the truth.

Mum-of-two Emma — who bears a striking resemblance to Liam — told the News of the World: "It has been so hard for me, following their lives from afar.

"I wanted Noel and Liam to know I existed. But I was never brave enough to speak out. They were just too famous. I was worried they'd think I was some gold-digger, which couldn't be further from the truth. I was also terrified they'd reject me. And so I'd sit watching them on Top Of The Pops, tears rolling down my cheeks.

"But now I want them to know about me. And I'd like to know them."

Emma was born on August 8, 1973 — at the same hospital, St Mary's in Manchester, where Liam's mum Peggy had given birth to him 11 months earlier.

She grew up only five streets away from the Gallaghers. Her mother had met Tommy at a local disco. June, 58, confessed: "Yes, I was a naive young girl. I took him home to meet my parents. None of us had any idea he was married or had kids. And by the time I found out I'd already had Emma.

"We still carried on seeing each other. He'd secretly bring Liam round when he visited Emma." But the affair soon ended — and June took Tommy to court for maintenance.

Manchester Magistrates Court records show that on February 22, 1974, Thomas Gallagher was ordered to pay June Davies £4 a week for baby Emma. He never contested the fact that she was his daughter.

Emma was last week sent a legal letter confirming that later, in 1976, Tommy tried to have the maintenance reduced. "Bizarrely, I have a memory of Tommy bouncing me on his knee at the courtroom in 1974. But that's the last time me or Mum saw him. He never paid the child support. Then we moved to Macclesfield," she said.

"Tommy was a charmer and my mum fell in love with him. But all the time, he was cheating on Liam and Noel's mum Peggy."

Growing up, Emma knew nothing more about her father apart from his name. But when Noel and Liam stormed to fame, June knew she would have to be told the truth.

"When Mum told me I was dumbstruck," said Emma. "I'd just bought their album. I could hardly believe it at first — but gradually it sank in. And then I was just thrilled to know about them."

She secretly worshipped her brothers from afar — but once, in May 1996, she and Liam's paths crossed. Oasis had just cleaned up at the Brit Awards. Millionaire Liam and his then girlfriend Patsy Kensit checked into the Mottram Hall Hotel near Prestbury, Cheshire, where Emma was a chambermaid.

"I was gobsmacked. I thought it must be fate that Liam and I were under the same roof," said Emma. "I was so tempted to approach him. But then it hit me. What would I say? ‘Hi Liam, I'm your sister'? I thought he'd go mental and call me a nutcase or a stalker. So I kept my distance."

But she did get a couple of keepsakes of her half-brother. "After Liam and Patsy had checked out, a chambermaid friend who I'd confided in had to clean their room," said Emma. "Liam had left behind a Sgt Pepper T-shirt and a Beatles CD. She should have put them in lost property, but instead she gave them to me. I have treasured them."

Her dad Tommy, now 62, was divorced by Peggy, 63, in 1986. But Emma insists she doesn't want to cause Peggy hurt by making her secret public.

"I know Mum And Peggy have both been hurt by Tommy — but I was raised without a father and now there's nothing I'd like more than to know my dad and my brothers," said Emma.

Now living with boyfriend, Darren, in Congleton, near Manchester, she wants her children Jake, 13, and ten-year-old Isobel, to know them too.

"Noel and Liam are their uncles. Tommy is their grandfather," said Emma.

"It is so important to know your family. I don't want anything more from Noel and Liam than that."

Her mum said: "I am now married. My husband and I have a good life. I don't want anything to spoil that. And I don't want Emma to get hurt.

"But I can't stop her doing what she has to do. If she wants Liam and Noel to know about her, that's down to her."

Liam Gallagher seems to be suffering from sideburn envy.

I can’t see any other reason for the Oasis frontman to poke fun at this innocent council worker, who was pushing a dustcart outside the singer’s local boozer in North London.

Zuton Harding Worried About Breast Jibes From Oasis Fans

The Zutons saxophonist Abi Harding was terrified when the British band supported Oasis last year (05), because she thought the crowd would demand she strip onstage.

The Valerie stars were a last minute addition to play before Oasis, following the withdrawal of Pete Doherty's Babyshambles, and Harding admits she was pleasantly surprised by how the gig went.

She says, "This was an Oasis crowd so you think the worst and being a girl as well I was expecting, 'Get your tits out'. But the crowd gave us loads of support even though they were originally expecting Babyshambles. "Someone shouted, 'F**k off Babyshambles, we like The Zutons.' That was a standout point of last year (05)."

McGee Predicts The End Of The Single

British music mogul Alan McGee claims CD singles will be killed off by internet downloads before the end of the year.

The man credited with discovering Oasis is amazed by the progress of downloads - calling it the new rock'n'roll.

He writes on his MySpace website: "By the end of the year the single in England will be obsolete. Downloads are killing the physical sales. Downloads is song culture like the 50s. "Downloads will be king within the next couple of years. CDs are ugly f**king data invented by the majors.

Only useful now for DJing or downloading to your iPod. Their game is up. "People listen to music now on iPods - life is too fast to stick on CDs and listen to whole albums in the house. None of us have the time but we will listen on an iPod anywhere."

Liam Is A Big Kasabian Fan

I was lucky enough to hear Kasabian perform new album Empire live in front of music execs and pal Liam Gallagher this week — and it’s a belter.

The title track, which is released as a single on July 24, has a much rockier feel than anything on their debut album and the video has a bit of an anti-war message too.

The Leicester rockers have swapped electronic beats for real drums to produce a heavy, dirty sound on the album, which I love.

Afterwards beer-swilling Liam, who was looking menacing, said of the album: “I f****** love it” before diving backstage with the lads to have a catch-up

Oasis brothers in charity bets war

Those lovely crazy Gallagher boys are putting their money where their mouths are. They are waging bets on who will raise the most at a North London charity bash a week on Saturday.

But don't worry people, they are not bob-a-jobbing. Oh no,Noel, 39, and Liam, 33, are going head-to-head, or arse over tit more probably, on a giant terror slide. And the adrenaline-crazy Burnage boys can't wait to compete against one another as they each try to get the most money from friends and family.

Our north London luvvie said "The slide will be erected on the 22nd July and a whole array of celebrities are hoping to take part".

"Its all a bit of a laugh but Liam and Noel have bets on which one of them will raise the most money for their individual choses charities and also which one of them will slide the 1,000ft the fastest".

Nicole Appleton, 31, Liams fiancee is also expected to turn up along with her sister and fellow All Saints singer Natalie Appleton,32. Our spy said that the whole north London set is expected including Helen Bonham-Carter, 40 and Jamie Oliver,31.

"Its going to be a great family day out and people can enjoy views across central London when they reach the summit". And at least this joke battle is a healthy way for the warring brothers to resolve that competitive tension that resides between them like a spectre.

So fingers crossed for a tie between the mono-browed pair or we'll never hear the end of it. Just don't call the next single The Importance Of Being Aerodynamic, eh fellas?

This Has To Stop

Tickets for the charity night of comedy and music event For Pities Sake Focus have appeared on eBay hours after selling out.

Considering this is a charity event it is a real shame that tickets are being sold at £500 a time on a buy it now auction price. A few other auctions are offering a pair tickets at £180 a pair with under a day left to bid.

I think it is absolute disgrace that touts are making money from these tickets, when the event is a charitable one.

This means genuine fans who want to buy tickets can't.

Noel Gallagher Announces One-Off Show

Noel Gallagher is set to perform live at a drugs benefit.

'For Pities Sake Focus' is an evening of comedy and music, set to raise money for Focus12, a charity dealing with all aspects of drug addiction.

The event will take place at KOKO in north London on November 2.

Comic Russell Brand is also set to perform, and another 'very special guest' is also promised.

It will be the first time Gallagher has performed on stage since Oasis completed their world tour earlier this year in support of 2005's 'Don't Believe The Truth'.

Champagne Superknees-up

Noel Gallagher was the toast of the Italy team after their World Cup triumph on Sunday.

The footie-mad Manc has been the Azzuris lucky mascot through the key stages of Germany 06 after striking up a friendship with goal ace Alessandro Del Piero.

And the Juventus star invited Noel back to the teams hotel to enjoy a champagne super knees-up after the big match.Mop-top Noel, who was at more games in Germany than David Beckam, even borrowed new chum Alessandros acoustic guitar and belted out a rendition of Dont Look Back In Anger.

The players thought it was bellissimo. A source tells me: Noel has been in touch with Alessandro all through the tournament.

He has been a lucky charm for the Italian team and seemed to do the trick again in the final.

Del Piero invited him back to the team hotel to enjoy the party and Noel jumped at the chance.

Not all the players know Noel from Oasis but they all seemed to pick up the bands lyrics pretty quickly, and they were all singing along when he performed Dont Look Back In Anger in the hotel bar.

The champagne was flowing and Noel was a big part of the party.

It pains me to say it but Noels gig for the Italians at the Hotel Landhaus Milser near Dusseldorf was about as close as an Englishman got to holding the famous trophy.

And if defeat wasnt bad enough for our boys, the England squad now have another reason to hang their heads in shame having given one of our finest musical talents little choice but to defect to the opposition.

Noel befriended Del Piero and ex-Italian captain Paulo Maldini after an Oasis gig in Turin the home of Juventus three years ago.

They kept in touch and Noel swaps gig tickets with them for seats at Champions League games

.Noel said: Alessandro is an Oasis fan and after one concert he gave me a pair of his boots. But I had to give one to Liam.

Id never seen Italy live until the semi-final against Germany in Dortmund last week. We went to the team hotel before the game and Del Piero was a bit upset because he wasnt in their starting line-up.

Glastonbury Movie Now On DVD

Julien Temple's Glastonbury movie is set to be released on DVD later this month.

The film, which took three years to complete and charts the festival's 35-year history through a mixture of official and fan footage, will be spread across two discs.

Along with the documentary, the release will include an interactive shuffle track feature, which allows viewers to re-edit the film along with uncut performances from Kaiser Chiefs, Fun Lovin' Criminals, REM and Goldfrapp.

There is also exclusive commentary from Temple and Jarvis Cocker along with a series of deleted scenes.

Other special features on the DVD include never-before-seen uncut tracks, interviews with Michael Eavis, festival goers, James Brown, Noel Gallagher and the late John Peel.

A series of deleted sequences and an interactive shuffle track function is available, allowing you to re-edit the feature film.Glastonbury is released on July 17.

Noel Gallagher World Cup Interview

Noel Gallagher is the main songwriter, guitarist and sometime singer of the British band Oasis. Together with his brother Liam, they were at the forefront of the 'Britpop' phenomenon in the mid-1990s when they enjoyed huge success with the albums Definitely Maybe and (What's The Story) Morning Glory?. Be Here Now, the 1997 follow-up to Morning Glory became the fastest-selling album in UK chart history, shifting almost 500,000 copies on the day of release alone, and the band enjoyed a recent, critically-acclaimed return to form with their sixth studio album, Don't Believe the Truth. The 39-year-old is a keen follower of his hometown club Manchester City and is looking forward to attending his first FIFA World Cup™ Final on Sunday.

Where have you been watching this FIFA World Cup?

I actually went to the best game of the tournament, Germany v Italy the other night in Dortmund, which was just one of the best nights ever, and I went to England v Sweden too. I watched a few games in Ibiza and the rest just at home on my own.

The atmosphere looked amazing at the semi-final in Dortmund. The German supporters could not have done anything more to lift their team really. I've been to a lot of big football matches in my time but I have to say the atmosphere there was just sensational.

How about the match itself?

I think Italy deserved it because they went for it in extra time and it looked to me like the Germans had run out of gas and were playing for penalties. But I think Germany have been brilliant the whole tournament and the Italians are coming good just at the right time.

Do you have a prediction for the Final?

I think (Zinedine) Zidane has played his great game against Brazil because Brazil let him play. He is not going to be allowed to play on Sunday night. As for (Thierry) Henry, this is going to either be the defining moment in his career where he is going to be absolutely amazing or, as I think, he won't actually get a kick.

Do you think the Italians are that good?

Much of that French squad have won it already but the Italians need to win for Italian football. I said to my Italian friends the other night, 'If you beat Germany you'll win it', because to beat Germany in Dortmund is pretty special.

Were you watching with your Italian friends?

I kind of know (Alessandro) Del Piero so I was sat with a couple of his friends and his wife and (Francesco) Totti's wife as well.

Is Del Piero a fan of Oasis then?

He comes to see us when we're over in Italy and he's been to see us in France. We did an interview with him once for the Gazzetta dello Sport and we got to know him. He gives us shirts and he gave me a pair of his boots once, but I had to split them with Liam - he's got one boot and I've got the other.

I don't suppose you're going to the Final, are you?

Well funnily enough I am. It was the first time I'd seen Italy play and before the game we went to the hotel and Del Piero was a bit upset because he wasn't starting but he then said, 'I'm going to come off the bench and score'. After the game he said I'd become his lucky mascot so I've got to go to the Final and wear the exact same clothes and underwear and socks to bring him good luck.

So what will you be wearing?

I'll be wearing a white T-shirt and dark blue jeans and adidas trainers. I'm flying over Sunday morning and hopefully it'll be great. I've never been to a World Cup Final and you only get the chance once, don't you.

What are your overall impressions of this FIFA World Cup?

World Cups always follow a similar pattern – before the knockout stages they are always quite wild and brilliant because of all the lesser teams who are just going for it. The knockout stages are a bit cagey but I think it's been the best World Cup over the last two decades.

How have you found the organisation of the tournament?

It very well organised. Everything just runs like clockwork. Getting in and out of the grounds has been amazing and although the grounds are full to capacity it doesn't feel like it. If I was in charge I'd have it in Germany all the time and just be done with it.

Which players have caught your eye?I liked some of the Mexicans and (Carlos) Tevez, who plays for Argentina, the little rough-looking fella, I thought was brilliant. But it is strange because the big players who we thought were going to be great have not turned up. Apart from Tevez, I'd go for Owen Hargreaves.

What did you make of England's campaign?

Just average. Not as bad as everyone was making out, though. English players are very valued in a team where they are surrounded by players from foreign countries but if you put 11 Englishmen together in a football team it is just dreadful. Back in England they're giving Sven (Goran Eriksson) lots of stick but there's too much talk of tactics – we have not got one player as skilful as Henry or Ronaldinho or Ronaldo, nor any goalkeepers who are as good as (Jens) Lehmann. We’ve only got (Wayne) Rooney really and (David) Beckham but he is coming to the end of his career. All our best players like Steven Gerrard, (Frank) Lampard, John Terry are powerhouse players - they are famed for their tough tackling and they can run all day.

Who was your first FIFA World Cup hero?

Probably Johan Cruyff from that brilliant Dutch team.

If you could go to one FIFA World Cup game from the past, which would it be?

The game where Holland beat Argentina at France 98. Or the Final in '66 would have been pretty good. But I have to say, the other night in Dortmund – if I never see another game in my entire life, that will do for me.

On This Day In Oasis History.....

"D'You Know What I Mean?" was the first single from their third album Be Here Now. In the UK, its highest chart position was #1. The song was written by Noel Gallagher.

At the time "D'You Know What I Mean" was released, Oasis were at the height of their fame, and as a result, the single, along with the album, was highly anticipated. Upon its release it was critically and commercially successful, but as was the case with Be Here Now, once the hype died down, the single was seen as bloated and indulgent, embellished with lyrics and guitar parts played backwards and strange morse code and helicopter sound effects. All Music Guide labelled it "Oasis' first boring single".

The song also exhibits some of Noel Gallagher's less admirable songwriting qualities. Many of the lyrics are meaningless and cliched, while the guitar chords on both the verse and the chorus are essentially the same as the chords used for the verse in the Oasis single "Wonderwall" (Em7/G/Dsus4/Asus).

However, the song also shows more of Noel's influences. While the lyrics may seem inane and banal, reference are included to Bob Dylan ("Blood on the tracks must be mine") and The Beatles ("Fool on the hill and I feel fine"). The song also features Led Zeppelin's "wall of guitar" sound as well as a drum loop from N.W.A.

The Morse code in the background translates to include such sayings as "Bugger All", "Pork Pies" and "Strawberry Fields Forever."

However, despite the critical coldness to the A-side, one of the B-sides, "Stay Young", has become a popular Oasis song, so much so that fans voted it onto the B-sides collection The Masterplan - one of only two B-sides from the Be Here Now period which made the album. The song was originally intended to be the "Digsy's Dinner" of Be Here Now (the lighthearted novelty track, such as "She's Electric"), until Noel set it aside in favour of "Magic Pie". Gallagher claims not to be particularly fond of the track.

The single cover photograph, by Michael Spencer Jones and directed by Brian Cannon of Microdot, was taken in front of the Blind Steps, a staircase in Wigan so called because the run past the Blind Workshop, which can be seen to the left of the shot. The steps can still be found on Darlington Street. The shoot was shrouded in secrecy to protect mass media coverage, but newspaper The Wigan Evening Post got exclusive rights to cover the event and subsequently sold the photo's to the Daily Mirror. At a lunchtime break , Liam Gallagher and sleeve designer Brian Cannon enjoyed a pint of beer in the nearby Crispin Arms pub by Birkett Bank.

Del Piero Planning Supersonic Final

OASIS star Noel Gallagher will be Alessandro Del Piero's lucky mascot for the World Cup final against France in Berlin.

Gallagher is friends with the Italian striker and has been asked by Del Piero to turn up to the final in exactly the same clothes he was wearing for the semi-final against Germany.

Noel Gallagher And Russell Brand Team Up For Charity

Russell Brand and Noel Gallagher are raising money for recovering drug addicts.

The British TV star, who has battled his own addiction to heroin, and the Oasis guitarist have teamed up to hold a charity concert in aid of anti-drugs charity Focus.

Russell, who was helped by the group to overcome his own heroin addiction, and Noel are staging the show in London’s Koko club in November and are hopeful they will be able to raise much-needed funds for the charity.

Russell, who has been dating recovering cocaine addict Kate Moss in recent weeks, said: "I’m doing this thing for recovering junkies, for Focus, a wonderful charity which helped me through my addiction. Me and Noel Gallagher and Dirty Pretty Things are doing a gig at Koko in November, everyone should come along."

10 Year Anniversary Of Oasis At Knebworth

Ten years ago Oasis played the biggest gigs of their career taking over Hertfordshire stately home Knebworth House for a weekend (August 10-11, 1996).

In the course of the weekend, the Mancunians played for 250,000 people, at the time a record, confirming their then dominance of the British music scene.

With the band supported over the two nights from the likes of Manic Street Preachers, The Charlatans (playing their first gig following keyboard player Rob Collins' death in a road accident) and The Prodigy among others, the event was one of the defining moments of the Britpop years.

Noel Obsessed With Buying Sports Shoes

Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher recently confessed he has become addicted to buying sports shoes since giving up drugs.

The millionaire rocker is particularly obsessed with vintage Adidas sneakers.

He said: "Since I gave up being a professional drug user, I've always got to be addicted to buying something and Adidas trainers have become my vice.

"I don't know how many I've got - hundreds."

Peggy Tells The Boys To Fatten Up!

The Gallagher brothers have been told to "fatten up" by their worried mother.

Liam and Noel have been summoned home to Burnage, Manchester by mum Peggy, who has become concerned with the stars' new fitness regimes.

Peggy saw a picture of Liam in a glossy magazine, prompting her to call her sons and tell them what she thought, according to The Sun.

A friend said: “Peggy is a typical northern mum and wants her lads to look big and strong. She is terrified they will start wasting away. Peggy got straight on the phone to tell Liam and Noel to come home for a homemade dinner and ‘none of that poncy muck you get in London.’

On This Day In Oasis History.....

"Sunday Morning Call" is taken from the band's fourth studio album Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants and was released as the third and final single from that album on 3 July 2000, peaking at #4 in the UK charts. The song is written and sung by Noel Gallagher, who took over lead vocal from brother Liam Gallagher on an A-side for the first time since "Don't Look Back in Anger" in 1996.

Though the song has the same anthemic feel that popularised many Oasis songs, and departs from the psychedelic feel of "Standing on the Shoulder of Giants", which had been poorly received by critics, it received a mixed critical reception. NME described it as "a dreary thing indeed", whereas All Music Guide described it as a "self-consciously mature departure from the group's usual ebullience... a deliberately mellow, mid-tempo [song]".

The music video is a take on the Jack Nicholson film One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, with characters resembling McMurphy and Nurse Ratched. It was filmed in an old mental institution in Vancouver, Canada and features Scottish actor James Cunningham, who has previously starred in the original play of Trainspotting. Unlike the film, the video begins with the McMurphy character escaping his home and giving chase to the authorities, and ends in a football match. While the inmates celebrate a victory, Oasis are seen watching from the asylum window, and Noel Gallagher makes a 'wanker' hand gesture at Cunningham.

As "Carry Us All" and "Full On" are also sung by Noel, this is the only Oasis single thus far not to feature Liam Gallagher singing.

On This Day In Oasis History.....

Heathen Chemistry was the fifth studio released album by British rock band Oasis, released on the 1st of July 2002 . It marked a return to form for the group as it sold over 1 million copies in the UK and about 3.7 million worldwide as of 2006.

The album was recorded during 2001 and early-2002, and was the first album written and recorded with the two new members, bassist Andy Bell and rhythm guitarist Gem Archer. With Gem Archer and Andy Bell writing one track each, and Liam Gallagher contributing three, it signalled the end of Noel Gallagher songs dominating Oasis albums.

Heathen Chemistry was received more warmly than the previous two Oasis albums, Be Here Now & Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants by both fans and critics alike. The album spawned four singles: The Hindu Times, their 6th number one single in the UK, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, a song made famous as it was played on the BBC when the English football team were knocked out of the World Cup by Brazil, the Double A-Side, sung by Noel - Little by Little / She is Love - and Songbird, the first single written by Liam. This album was the last one to feature the drumming of their longtime sticksman Alan White, who left in early 2004.

The release of the album was overshadowed by an Internet leak of all 11 tracks almost three months prior to release. However, listeners of the commercially released album heard slight differences to two tracks, "Little By Little" and "Better Man".

The title of the album, according to Noel, came from a T-Shirt he saw in a second hand shop which featured a logo reading, "The Society Of Heathen Chemists". Similarly, the name of the first single "The Hindu Times" originated from a logo on a t-shirt that read the same thing, which Noel saw during a photo shoot for GQ's 100 Greatest Guitarists edition. The name was given to the track when it was just an instrumental, as all the instrumentals of this album where given actual titles as opposed to "Instrumental 1" etc, and the name stuck once the track was finished.
