More Info On The Acoustic Tracks On Oasis' (What's The Story) Morning Glory? - 30th Anniversary Edition

A extract from a review from the current issue of Record Collector on Oasis' (What's The Story) Morning Glory? - 30th Anniversary Edition that is released on October 3rd.

The album contains acoustic versions of Acquiesce (see below) Cast No Shadow, Morning Glory, Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova.

This 30th anniversary reissue is slight on extras, with previous reissues having cleared out the era’s excellent B-sides (Acquiesce, Talk Tonight, The Masterplan et al), demos and live cuts.

But there are some genuine rarities in five unreleased, reverb heavy acoustic studio versions polished up by Noel and Callum Marinho from the original master tapes, complete with snippets of banter (“where’s Noel? I’ve sacked him”).

As seen on 1996’s Liam-less MTV Unplugged, the simple songwriting meant Oasis excelled when stripped back; if you can get past some occasional off-putting bongo percussion on otherwise enjoyable takes on the rockier Morning Glory and the brothers-in-arms duet Acquiesce (and it is intrusive on the otherwise sped-up Wonderwall) the same applies here. Liam is in pure voice; the sparser Cast No Shadow is beautiful, though the highlight is a trippier – dare I say more Beatles-y – Champagne Supernova.

The album is released on October 3rd and various bundles are available from oasisinet.com
