Celebrities Flock To Liam Gallagher's Pretty Green Autumn Winter 2013 Season Launch

Numerous rockstars flocked to launch of Liam Gallagher's Pretty Green London Collections: Men's Autumn/Winter 2013 on Monday night (January 7th 2013) at The Arts Club and he certainly seemed to be in celebratory mode. He was spotted in his usual indie get-up with a black jacket and jeans, decidedly avoiding the opportunity to don a smart suit on the red carpet. On the other hand, he wasn't the only one - his longtime bandmate Gem Archer, who joined him in his band Beady Eye after Oasis, wore an identical jacket and their friend Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan favoured very similar style shoes. Andy Bell, also from Beady Eye, attended though looked distinctly smarter.

Gallagher's wife Nicole Appleton from All Saints was also at the event showing her support for her fashion designer husband. Aside from the new collection, he has several ventures for Pretty Green he wants to concentrate on in 2013 including a range of eyewear and bags to add to the business in its fourth year of running. 'We're looking into accessories heavily, having dabbled in footwear', he said at the launch. 'The world's our oyster really, we'd like to think. There's the opportunity to grow into what we want.'

BBC Radio 1 presenter Fearne Cotton was another guest at the launch, heavily pregnant and supported by her boyfriend Jesse Wood, the son of Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood. Despite being on maternity leave, she took a break from resting to attend the event and looked 'pretty green' in a patterned turquoise and black minidress teamed with leopard print ankle boots that cleverly took the attention away from her bump. Though, as a fashion designer herself, you can hardly blame her for knowing all the tricks of the trade.

Liam Howlett from The Prodigy paid tribute to the label with a thin green scarf while his wife Natalie Appleton (also from All Saints and sister of Nicole) turned heads in a net top and tight leather pants. It certainly wasn't a night for conventional red carpet glamour but was dazzling nonetheless. The range of different styles donned by the evening's celebs went some way to prove a point Gallagher made about his clothing not fitting into one category, as inspiration seems to be everywhere. 'People might say it is but we didn't set out to create a Mod label', he insisted. 'It's music, from the Sixties and Seventies.'

'The Inbetweeners' star James Buckley was also in attendance looking chipper as usual. He hung up his role as the egocentric though secretly insecure character of Jay from the British comedy series in 2011 following a three series run and a closing movie. In November last year (2012) he married his long-term girlfriend Clair Meek at Dundas Castle in Scotland and the pair have a 14 month old son together named Harrison. Whether he's named after Blake Harrison, the actor who played Jay's best friend in the series, is unknown  though we'd sort of like that to be the case.

Oasis, The Beatles, The Sex Pistols And More On List For Olympics' Opening Ceremony

The Sex Pistols’ song appears on a leaked list of music proposed for the ceremony on July 27, alongside some more notable classics.

The song includes the lines: “God save the Queen, the fascist regime...God save the Queen, she ain’t no human being” and ends: “No future, no future, no future for you.”
Use of the track, which was banned by the BBC when it was released in 1977, reflects an eclectic and controversial style to be adopted by Danny Boyle, the creative director, in contrast with that of the Golden Jubilee concert earlier this month.

The list also includes Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s Relax, which was similarly banned by the BBC when it was released in 1984 on the grounds of its explicit lyrics.

Other music on the list of 86 tracks is more traditional, including patriotic favourites such as Land Of Hope And Glory, Jerusalem and the Dambusters March.

Tracks by the elder statesmen of British pop music are included, such as The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd and David Bowie.

And there are classics such as London Calling by The Clash, Going Underground by The Jam, My Generation by The Who and Rudy by The Specials.

They come alongside more recent tunes such as the Sugababes, Push the Button, Amy Winehouse’s version of Valerie and Adele’s Rolling in the Deep.

Rock acts such as Radiohead, Coldplay, Muse, Oasis and Blur are on the list alongside rappers such as Rizzle Kicks, Tinie Tempa and Dizzee Rascal.

Classic TV and radio theme tunes include Eastenders, Coronation Street, the Archers and the BBC news and film theme tunes such as Chariots of Fire and the James Bond Theme.

Among the fun tunes listed are My Boy Lollipop and Tiger Feet, but there is no room for performers at the Diamond Jubilee Concert including Cliff Richard, Elton John, and Tom Jones.

The music will be mixed together by Underworld – DJs Karl Hyde and Rick Smith – at Abbey Road Studios and the pair have included their own dance music classic Born Slippy, which featured in Boyle’s film Trainspotting, as well as the Prodigy’s Firestarter.

Mr Boyle, 55, has already revealed that the spectacular will feature a Glastonbury-style “mosh pit” but an Olympics spokesman said: “We want the ceremony to be a fantastic surprise for the watching world, and we want the British public to be proud of it.

“There is endless speculation about the content – much of which is simply guesswork, as we are keeping the show under wraps.”

Liam Gallagher's Son Loves Uncle's Band

Liam Gallagher's son is "obsessed" with his uncle's group The Prodigy.

Gene Gallagher - the Oasis star's eight-year-old son with wife Nicole Appleton - infuriates his parents by demanding to listen to his favourite songs by the veteran dance act, of which his uncle Liam Howlett is a member.

Howlett - who is married to Nicole's sister, Natalie Appleton - told Q magazine: "Gene does Nicole's head in, in the car on the way to school. He's always like, 'Put it on again. Put 'Thunder' on.' "

Gallagher - whose brother is his former Oasis bandmate Noel Gallagher - is supportive of Gene's interest in music.

It has previously been claimed the 'Lyla' singer - who also has a 10-year-old son, Lennon, from his marriage to actress Patsy Kensit - regularly drops into Gene's school to pass on his musical knowledge to the pupils.

A source said: "Liam's spending loads of time in the school. He does the school run in the morning and often pops in and teaches the kids some music skills.

"He's often in the music room playing on the instruments with the kids."

Prodigy Man Has A Lot Of Respect For The Gallagher Brothers

The Prodigy's Keith Flint speaking in a recent interview.

"I've got a lot of respect for Noel and Liam," says Flint. "I've hung out with Liam a lot of times. He's a geezer, he really is. With Liam, what you see is what you get. I love him for it. That's what it's about -- you've got to have the Liam Gallaghers out there, you know what I mean?"

The Other Gallagher Brother Will Play Ireland As Oasis Jet In

Festival fans will be keeping their fingers crossed for good weather as a string of big-name acts take to the stage. Support acts for the gig include The Prodigy, Kasabian, Glasvegas and the Blizzards.

A host of celebrity friends of Noel and Liam Gallagher are also expected to be jetting in to see them perform at the Meath castle venue.

The lads will kick off a series of three gigs in Manchester this evening as they embark on their tour of Britain and Ireland.

But it seems we will also have the other Gallagher brother performing on these shores this month as well. Eldest brother Paul, who worked for Creation Records, is coming to Ireland to play to his fans himself.

Yet he'll be taking to the stage in a slightly more modest venue than Slane, given that he is playing a DJ set in Eamon Doran's the day before Oasis play there. He has been invited over by bar owner Dermot Doran, a good friend whom he met during the Britpop years. Largely credited with inspiring his younger brothers' passion for music, he first introduced Noel to the magic of The Jam and used to loan him his favourite guitar.

Childhood

Given that their parents are both Irish, it is little wonder that the Oasis stars are looking forward to performing here shortly.

"We used to spend six weeks of our school holidays here until I was 15, so it was a massive part of my childhood.

"Even the smell in the air and, of course, the sweet shops in Ireland are just the best in the world. It's the land of our fathers," Noel told the Diary.

His estranged father Tommy hails from Duleek and his mum Peggy comes from Mayo, with rumours that she will be coming over to watch her sons perform live.
