Gallagher Slams 'Square' Scissor Sisters

Noel Gallagher has continued his one-man mission to alienate himself from the music industry by insisting Scissor Sisters music is for uncool people. In recent weeks the Oasis guitarist/singer has lashed out at The Beatles, Sir Elton John, Robbie Williams and even British soldiers injured in Iraq, prompting backlashes. But the Wonderwall hitmaker is unrepentant and intends to continue venting his grievances. He says, "I particularly loathe Scissor Sisters. I like Laura from the first record, but it's music for squares, man. "They're huge in England, but there's no accounting for bad taste as far as the English are concerned."

Oasis Frontman 'Buying Thunderbirds-Inspired House'

Rock star Liam Gallagher is today rumoured to be buying a £4 million house inspired by the TV puppet show Thunderbirds and its Tracy Island base.

The Oasis frontman is thought to be nearing completion on the blue glass and blue-fronted six-bedroom house, called Thunderbird, in the exclusive Branksome Park area of Poole, Dorset.
The futuristic two-storey property was built by life-long Thunderbirds fan Eddie Mitchell to resemble the Tracy Island home of the International Rescue agents.

Mr Mitchell, managing director of Seven Developments, refused to confirm the sale today.
He said: "We have had several people - a Lord, a racing driver, a footballer - look at it.
"In all instances the would require confidentiality. I'm not at liberty to say any more than that."
Contracts have not yet been exchanged but Mr Mitchell said it was as good as sold. Everything in the hi-tech house, from the heating, lighting and even down to the curtains, is operated by the touch of a button on an electronic keypad, in keeping with the space-age show.

The house is also designed to resemble a bird with two wings.

The stairwell has more than 1,000 fibre-optic lights which change colour, there is a kaleidoscope glass floor with changing coloured lights, six bathrooms, a 100ft lounge and a 50ft heated infinity pool.

Speculation that father of two Gallagher might be looking to buy property in the area began last month after he was spotted in a Poole cafe.

Public relations company Hall Or Nothing, which represents Oasis, said: "We don't comment on their personal details."

Oasis Extends Invitation On Stage To Original Band Members

It seems like 2006 has been the year for British bands to try and reunite with former band members. First, there was Take That extending an offer to Robbie Williams to join them on their reunion tour, and now Oasis is the next band to follow in line.

Noel Gallagher recently invited his former band mates Bonehead and Guigsy to join Oasis on stage at the BRIT Awards in 2007.

The band is being honored with the prestigious Outstanding Contribution to Music award at next year's ceremony and Noel has extended an offer to the two original members to perform with the current line-up.

He told Big Issue magazine, "I bear them no malice. With the thing coming up at the BRITs it'd be nice if they came along and get up with us. It'd actually be nice to sit down with them."

Rhythm guitarist Bonehead and bass player Guigsy quit Oasis in 1999 during the recording of the band's fourth studio album "Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants."

It was reported that Bonehead - real name Paul Arthurs - walked out after Noel poured beer over his head as he slept, in revenge for him repeatedly turning up to the studio drunk. Guigsy left soon after.

Noel, 39, is unsure if the two former members will accept his offer because he hasn't spoken to either of them since their departure and isn't convinced that brother Liam would welcome them on stage with open arms.

He added, "I haven't heard from them since they left. But when I think back now and watch some of the old footage, I think they both found it very difficult. They weren't meant to be stars. Do ya know what I mean? I think as soon as they'd made enough money they thought, 'I can't be a**ed anymore.' And that's fine. It would be good if they joined us. Mind you, I'm not sure how it was left with Liam."

The band - who released their best of album "Stop The Clocks" this week - are set to perform a selection of their biggest hits at the BRITs, which takes place on February 14 at London's Earls Court.

Walsh Tells Oasis: Give In

As Westlife galloped ahead in the album chart yesterday, their manager Louis Walsh told Oasis: "Time to wave the white flag."

The midweek chart showed the Irish lads' Love Album had sold 102,697 this week - Oasis's hits album Stop The Clocks has only shifted 88,730.

Louis told 3am: "We're also beating the Beatles and U2, and with Take That on top of the singles chart it's clear that boy bands is where it's at."

Westlife are signed to Louis' fellow X Factor judge Simon Cowell's label. And Simon said yesterday: "Westlife release good songs and people just know what they are getting.

"Maybe Oasis should come on the X Factor next week and then they'd have a chance of being number one." Now that we'd pay to see.

Oasis Star Branded 'Ignorant'

Oasis star Noel Gallagher has been branded "ignorant" after he told soldiers wounded in Iraq to stop moaning.

The Britpop frontman said in an interview with a tabloid that he was against the Iraq war and also said about the troops who had been injured in action: "If you're bothered about getting shot - here's a thing - don't join the Army."

Veterans' representative Ray Bristow said the guitarist only had the freedom to make such comments thanks to the sacrifice of the thousands who gave their lives.

Former soldier Mr Bristow said that Gallagher was only able to make such comments "on the back of thousands of soldiers' lives" laid down for their country.

He said: "He is in a privileged position in society where he is able to have free speech and make comments like he has made."

Gallagher has since come out to say he was misquoted but that he maintains his stance against the war in Iraq.

Private Lionel O'Connor, 22, of 2 Royal Anglian, who had his leg amputated after being caught up in a roadside bomb attack in Basra, suggested Gallagher should go to Iraq to see what conditions are like for soldiers.

Pte O'Connor, who is recovering at a military rehabilitation centre in Surrey following the attack in May, said: "If he has got a comment like that, send him out there."

Westlife are set to do the unthinkable and beat both The Beatles and Oasis to the No 1 spot.

No offence to the Oirish man-band, but I really didn't see that one coming.

In a swift turn-around of fortunes, Nicky Byrne, 27, Kian Egan, 26, and the other two have leapt from third spot in the album race with The Love album. They're a solid 5,000 sales ahead of Oasis with Stop The Clocks and have shifted nearly twice as many copies as The Beatles' Love.

The lads are currently in Australia, because like me, they are big down under. But using the telephone, I've managed to get hold of one of their camp.

I'm told: "They'll not talk to you yet Joe. The band have banned the subject until the final charts are released on Sunday. They're refusing to get excited about it yet, because it's so early in the week and there's sill a long way to go. "They're a superstitious lot and don't want to curse themselves by speaking too soon."

HMV fountain of knowledge Gennaro Castaldo said: "People might not have expected Westlife to match or even outsell such iconic bands as The Beatles and Oasis, but we shouldn't forget they have an incredibly dedicated fan base. "It's going to be nip and tuck."

Dangerous though it may seem at this stage, I'm going to get my manparts out and say Oasis will top the charts come the weekend.

Noel is currently the top lad in the Mott "rock stars who are actually sound" section. Fancy a meal with the missus mate?

Oasis Blaspheme Themselves Before The Lords Of Rock

We've often said that there are no limits to who the Gallagher brothers will shit talk, but the thing is theres REALLY no limit to who the Gallagher brothers will shit talk. The Beatles, and John Lennon in particular, have always been the obvious inspiration behind, um, everything Oasis has ever done. But when new record Stop the Clocks, a greatest hits package, went up against the Beatles Love on the UK charts, the pressure made the Gallaghers go places we thought even they wouldn dare.

"It's a pointless exercise," Noel Gallagher reportedly said about Love, adding that he shut the album off after five songs. Liam was more to the point. He called the tracks rubbish.

Um, brothers Gallagher? If you had a real record to pit against Love this might have been the right moment to point out that this new Beatles record is mostly just a collection of audio snippets woven together by Sir George Martin into something resembling a cohesive song that will inspire the bodily contortions of your average Cirque du Soleil-ist. But your record is a not-so-awesome collection of greatest hits you are releasing to fulfill your contract with your label. And you are not John Lennon. You arent even Pete Best or Jane Asher.

You have a non-record out. They have a non-record out. But they are the fucking Beatles, so they win. Get over it.

The battle for superiority in the Supergroups Showdown, the biggest head-to-head of musical greats in chart history, looks like it’s going to be won by . . . WESTLIFE.

Forget OASIS, THE BEATLES and U2, it is the four Oirish, stool-loving balladeers who look like unravelling everything we hold sacred in this country’s musical heritage and claiming Sunday’s top album.

While early official midweek chart figures show Oasis just leading the pack, the news is grim for people who like their music with guitars, bass, drums and genuine talent. The numbers show Oasis at No1 on 52,000, Westlife at No2 on 51,000, The Beatles at No3 on 31,000 and U2 at No4 with 18,000.

But these do NOT take into account the massive amount of Tesco sales, which will weigh heavily in Westlife’s favour.

Experts predict that with housewife supermarket purchasing, Oasis will be pushed aside and de ’Loife will breeze into the No1 spot by an easy 5,000 sales.

But fear not, comrades, it is not too late to stop this tragedy.

With people power and a swell of support from Bizarre readers it is possible to overturn this catastrophe.

Totally impartial but closet Westlife fan Gennaro Castaldo, from HMV, said it was the most exciting chart battle in ages and that Oasis fans should not give up yet.

He told me yesterday: “People might have thought the race for the No1 album this week would be between Oasis and The Beatles, and perhaps U2, but Westlife are proving their enduring appeal.

“But Gallagher fans shouldn’t lose heart. While Westlife may be edging overall figures, it’s no contest at HMV, where Stop The Clocks is currently outselling The Love Album by nearly three to one.

“If it came down to just HMV customers, Oasis would swagger in to the top spot.”Do your bit, Bizarre readers — buy Stop The Clocks and do your bit to Stop The C*cks.

Westlife Likely To Beat Both U2 And Oasis To Album Chart Top Spot

Westlife look likely to romp to the top of the album chart come Sunday with their The Love Album collection, according to industry insider predictions.

DiS has heard on the proverbial grapevine that the Irish boyband's latest is looking certain to outsell newly released best-ofs from U2 and Oasis - 18 and Stop The Clocks respectively - as well as the new Beatles album, Love. It was previously assumed that this week's number one position would be contested between the Manchester outfit and the Bono-led rock four-piece.

Sales data from one leading supermarket is yet to be collected, meaning that things could change, but considering Westlife's popularity with daytime-shopping mothers (a shocking generalisation? Nah...), it's unlikely that either Oasis or U2, or The Beatles, will beat them to the number one position before Sunday's chart confirmation.

Of course, everything can change. But it probably won't.

Oasis Rant: They Slam New Beatles Album

They might be big fans of The Beatles but Oasis have slammed the new album which came out at the same time as their very own best of, Stop The Clocks on Monday (20 November).

Love – which was produced by Sir George Martin and his son Giles using Beatles songs and the original sounds recorded in the 60's went head to head with Oasis but it has been quickly rubbished by the Gallagher brothers.

Speaking at the UK screening of their road movie Lord Don’t Slow Me Down at the Curzon in Mayfair, London Noel said:

“It’s a pointless exercise; if you haven’t got The Beatles by now you’re not going to get it.”

Speaking about their own DVD ahead of its release next year Liam admitted he was glad the film was finished saying, “I buzzed of myself, I played a blinder.” And his brother Noel offered an insight into what it was like being the subject of a fly on the wall documentary which was directed by Baillie Walsh:

“Baillie Walsh said I wouldn’t notice the cameras after a while, you do notice them, but I was alright with that, I kind of enjoyed it.

”Meanwhile in the Sun newspaper today Noel Gallagher has launched another rant, saying he thinks the likes of Elton John and Robbie Williams need to get reality checks, and also claims green activists are wasting their time with environmental campaigns.
