Boozed-up Noel Gallagher showed he's still mad fer it as he climbed on a clamping truck after the Mojo Awards do.

The merry 40-year-old Oasis star then waved peace signs to smiling passers-by. Earlier he downed free drinks at the music mag's bash in East London's Brewery venue where he presented the Les Paul award to Fleetwood Mac guitar legend Peter Green.

Rocker Noel Is On The Wagon

Noel Gallagher may be a legendary caner but he was quick to try to jump on this wagon at 4am yesterday after a booze-up with Kasabian's Serge Pizzorno.

The Oasis star began at the Mojo awards in London, took in Coral gig and ended at Soho House via the Groucho Club.

Shame he missed the Mojo afterparty, Amy Winehouse and Bjork became best pals after challenging each other to a game of pool. Now that’s what I call rock ’n’ roll.

Noel Gallagher Slams Lack Of Guitar Heroes

Noel Gallagher is dissatisfied with the dearth of good current guitarists.

Before presenting Peter Green with the Les Paul guitarists' prize at Mojo Honours, Gallagher told Teletext: "My favourite recent guitarist would be any of the ones in The Coral, especially Bill Ryder-Jones. He's brilliant.

"But there's not many to choose from. The age of the guitar hero has been dead for a while, you know?"

Soap Star Would Love To Play Liam Gallagher In Biopic

Rob James-Collier would love to play Liam Gallagher in a biopic film of his life.

The 'Coronation Street' star - who plays Underworld factory boss Liam Connor - is a huge Oasis fan and thinks he looks similar to his hero.

Rob told Britain's Soaplife magazine: "Before I come on Corrie some people though I was a bit like Liam so if there's a film of him I'd love to do it.

I love early Oasis."

But the 28-year-old may have trouble getting into character as he does not share the 'Mad Fer It' Manchunian's two greatest skills - singing and fighting.

Rob said: "I can't sing and I can't dance. Just the thought of it scares me.

"And I'm the softest lad you'll ever meet!

"When it comes to fights I'm a runner. When in doubt - get out!"

The sexy soap star - who scooped the Sexiest Male Award at this year's British Soap Awards - is currently dating a fashion designer, but has promised to keep her identity a secret.

He said: "She says she doesn't want jealous girls coming looking for her!

"I think she's bigging me up a bit there!"

A Reminder For Oasis Fans Going To Glastonbury

Lucky Oasis fans at Glastonbury Festival will be amongst the first to have a chance to see the full-length (94 minute) version of the band’s documentary tour film, “Lord Don’t Slow Me Down”, when it is screened at 2am on Sunday 24th June on the massive outdoor screen on the festival site.

“Lord Don’t Slow Me Down” was directed by renowned promo director Baillie Walsh, and compiled from a year’s filming with the band on their mammoth “Don’t Believe The Truth” world tour 2005/6. It follows one of the world’s greatest rock ‘n’ roll bands behind the scenes and in front of the fans, across the globe. With unique access to the band throughout the tour, “Lord Don’t Slow Me Down” is the ultimate Oasis documentary and a must see for fans.

This will be one of the only opportunities this year to see the film prior to its release later this year on dvd, and the next best thing to having the band play live at the festival.

Oasis Prepare To Enter The Studio

But warn fans not to hold their breath…

Oasis have revealed that they will begin work on their new album next month.

According to the band’s guitarist, Noel Gallagher, the Manchester band will enter the studio on July 3rd.

Gallagher has warned fans, however, that the follow-up to 2005’s, ‘Don’t Believe The Truth,’ might not hit the shelves for a while.

He told the BBC: “The songs are written... but don't hold your breath because the last album took three-and-half-years and three goes.”

"It would be great if it was done by the end of the year and we could get out on the road by next summer, but that's insane wishful thinking."

"Stop Crying Your Heart Out" is a song by British rock band Oasis. It was released as the second single from Heathen Chemistry on 17 June 2002, peaking at number two in the UK charts. It went silver in the UK.

The song is an "epic weepy" anthem in the spirit of "Don't Look Back in Anger", reassuringly advising that in times of hardship, simply get over it and get on with your life. Noel Gallagher explained the song saying "A friend of mine was going through a pretty bad time with his kids and I sort of wrote it with him in mind.".

Noel Gallagher had high expectations for the song, saying "I hope it does for us what 'Don't Look Back In Anger' did... I didn't want it as a single because I thought we'd done all that before, but everyone's going, 'You're fucking mad.'" It appears Gallagher's hopes were well founded, as the song received a warm response from the critics. NME said, with regards to the album " 'Stop Crying Your Heart Out' [is where] you really start rolling out the red carpet. A return to the long lost humanism of 'Don't Look Back In Anger', it's a reminder of Noel's uncanny knack of cheering up his audience just when they need it most." Q magazine held up the song as proof that "genius never completely left Oasis".

"Stop Crying Your Heart Out" was one of the songs played during the end credits of the movie, The Butterfly Effect, starring Ashton Kutcher and Amy Smart. The song also appeared after England's defeats in the 2002 Football World Cup and the 2006-07 Ashes. Noel Gallagher dedicated it to the English football team before playing it at the 2004 Glastonbury Festival.

McCartney's Prank On Gallagher

Sir Paul McCartney tried to get rock pal Noel Gallagher arrested for shoplifting when he spotted the Oasis star browsing in the same London department store recently.

Songwriter Gallagher was shocked to bump into the rock legend, and grateful security staff didn't take the former Beatle seriously.

He says, "I bumped into Paul in Selfridges. I was in the menswear department and I heard someone say quite loud 'watch him, shoplifter'.

I looked round and it was MCCartney. I hadn't seen him for a while and we had a chat."

Oasis To Start Recording New Album

Noel Gallagher says the band will hit the studio very soon

Oasis are to start work on their seventh studio album on July 3.

Guitarist Noel Gallagher has named the date when the band will be recording a follow-up to 2005's 'Don't Believe The Truth'.

"The songs are written... but don't hold your breath because the last album took three-and-half-years and three goes," he told BBC News. "It would be great if it was done by the end of the year and we could get out on the road by next summer, but that's insane wishful thinking."

Previously the guitarist has told NME.COM that this album will be more experimental than Oasis' more recent efforts.

"For the next record I really fancy doing, you know, a record where we just completely throw the kitchen sink at it," Gallagher declared. "We haven't done that since 'Be Here Now' (in 1997)... get like a 100 piece orchestra and choirs and all that.

"I think since 'Standing on the Shoulders of Giants' (2000) we've been trying to prove a point of just bass, drums, guitar and vocals and nothing fancy. But I kind of fancy, like, making an absolutely fucking colossal album. You know? Like literally two orchestras, stuff like that."

Oasis In Lonely Hearts Club

Noel and Liam Gallagher have been celebrating another Macca birthday of sorts — the 40th anniversary of The Beatles' legendary album Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Oasis have joined a project to re-record the album using original equipment and techniques in the famous Abbey Road studio for a Radio 2 show.

They chose the track Within You Without You.

Kaiser Chiefs, Razorlight and Travis are among other top names who have recorded tracks, and there is a duet by Pete Doherty and Carl Barat. Noel said: “It’s a special album for me because I was born on May 29 (1967) and it came out on June 1.

“So when I was being born in St Mary’s Manchester it was being played on hospital radio.”

Noel couldn’t make it to Paul’s “secret” gig last week as he’s “confined to barracks” with pregnant missus Sara MacDonald.

He said: “I bumped into Paul that day in Selfridges. I was in the menswear department and I heard someone say quite loud ‘watch him, shoplifter’. I looked round and it was McCartney. I hadn’t seen him for a while and we had a chat.

“I was gutted about missing the gig but when your missus is pregnant, it’s like you’re pregnant, so I didn’t go out.”

Meanwhile, Babyshambles star Pete revealed how he persuaded his old bandmate Carl to join him in a cover of A Day In The Life.

It is the first time they’ve been in the studio together since they recorded the last Libertines album in 2004. Pete said: "I heard about it and thought this would be a great thing to do with Carl, so I called him up and left a message, so at least I could say I called him - you know, let bygones, auld lang syne and everything.

"He never called me back, but then he did and he thought it was a great idea, so here we are.

"I think A Day In The Life is the best song on the album.

"Sgt Pepper is one of my favorite albums in the mists of all the trite commercial pap and soulless generic crap some things strike you down dead when you first hear it and this album is one of those things.

"It just sucked me in and I decided I wanted to be in The Beatles."

Carl added: "I listened to it first when I was nine and I stole my dad’s cassette and listened to it over and over. I just listened to it incessantly

"We're just working out how to do the John and Paul bits."

The 40th Anniversary show is on Radio 2 tonight at 8pm. It also features The Zutons, Stereophonics and Jamie Cullum.

Pepper is special for me because I was born on the 29 May, and it came out on the 1 June, so when I was being born in St Mary's Hospital, Manchester, it was being played on hospital radio..... and it still contains some of the greatest Beatles songs, like A Day in the Life, and Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds."

Part 1 of the documentary featured the Kaiser Chiefs, The Magic Numbers, Bryan Adams, Razorlight, The Fray and Travis.

Noel Gallagher: '60s Music Meant More

Burnage-born Oasis star Noel Gallagher believes music does not mean as much as it used to.

The band are taking part in a Radio 2 programme celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Beatles' legendary album Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

And Gallagher told the station: "Music was the only outlet for kids at that time. Now it's all video games and all-day television. Music doesn't mean as much today as it did back then.

"At the time that the Beatles were exploding around the world, youth culture was exploding. Youth was in. You can't compare those days to today."

Oasis will join the likes of Kaiser Chiefs, Razorlight and Travis on Saturday night's show.

Abbey Road

Each band has recorded their own version of a Sgt Pepper track, using the original equipment from the Abbey Road studios.

Oasis chose George Harrison track Within You, Without You.

Gallagher said of the album: "It's special for me because I was born on May 29 and it came out on June 1, so when I was being born in St Mary's, Manchester, it was being played on hospital radio.

"I'm 40 this year, like Sgt Pepper. It gets better with age, that album."

The Sgt Pepper 40th Anniversary documentary will be aired as part of the 60s Season in BBC Radio 2 on Saturday at 8pm.

Oasis man speaks after Beatles tribute album

Oasis star Noel Gallagher has revealed which 'Sgt Pepper' track they have covered for a Radio 2 special - but he's not so keen on some of the other artist who have tackled songs from the LP.

Oasis have recorded 'Within You Without You to celebrate 40 years since the release of 'Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'.

The George Harrison-written song was specially chosen by brother Liam Gallagher, as Noel explained, "I said if Liam wants to do it, I'll do it, so he was up for it and decided he was going to pick the song. I just assumed he would say 'A Day In The Life', but he came back with Within You Without You , and I was like 'What? There's no guitars on it!'"

The tribute record also features the talents of Razorlight and Kaiser Chiefs.

Speaking of the difficulties the bands faced, recording with the original Abbey Road recording equipment, Noel expressed his opinion on the performances of fellow contemporaries Razorlight and Kaiser Chiefs.

He said: "I was watching Kaiser Chiefs and Razorlight on the documentary and with the greatest respect to those two bands, it was embarrassing. I was embarrassed for them."

Speaking of why the record is so close to his heart, Noel revealed: "'Sgt Pepper' is special for me because I was born on the 29 May, and it came out on the 1 June. So when I was being born in St Mary's Hospital, Manchester, it was being played on hospital radio."

Meanwhile, 'Sgt Pepper''s 40th Anniversary special is on Radio 2 at 8pm on June 16.
