More On The Pete Mckee Oasis Prints And Posters

Today I received my live poster that was inspired by the legendary 1994 Brighton show, which saw Oasis supported by Ride and The La's and is by artist Pete Mckee.

The image is of an anorak-wearing music fan on a scooter ride in Brighton, it is of a very limited run of just 100 silk screen prints has been commissioned, each signed and numbered by the artist. Printed on Harlequin 340gsm white art board and measuring 45 x 64cm, prints cost £190 unframed or £250 framed.

The poster as I have is is also available for £25, and printed on 170 gsm graphic silk paper and measuring 60 x 80cm.

I have to say it is very impressive piece of art, the colour and the detail of the poster are quite simply superb. And in my opinion compared to the other pieces of artwork that have been sold on inet in the past, this is by far the best one to date and also the best value for money.

And I hope it's a start of a series of this fine prints, covering legendary performances from the band from previous years.

Pete who himself is a Oasis fan spoke to the Sheffield Telegraph a few weeks ago and said “As an Oasis fan, I can’t believe how lucky I am to have been involved in doing what I love for a band I love.”

If you would like to own one of these fine posters or prints visit www.oasisinet.com or via www.petemckee.com

Rock Band To Receive Oasis Song Pack, More Tracks From Coheed, Rush And Smashing Pumpkins

English rock group Oasis is set to debut in Harmonix's Rock Band (PS2, PS3, X360) later this month, according to a now-edited page on Xbox.com.

The site, which no longer lists specific tracks but still makes reference to Oasis, detailed an Oasis Pack--containing "Don't Look Back in Anger," "Live Forever," and "Wonderwall"--hitting the Xbox Live Marketplace next week.

The page also mentioned a multi-artist Progressive Pack, including covers of Rush's "Working Man" and Coheed and Cambria's "Ten Speed (Of God's Blood and Burial)" along with a master track recording of "Siva" by Smashing Pumpkins, releasing the week of January 29.

Each track will sell individually for 160 Microsoft Points ($2), with the three-song packs offering a slight savings at 440 Microsoft Points ($5.50). Tracks and packs in the online PlayStation Store carry similar prices; $1.99 a song, $5.49 a pack.

In past weeks, downloadable Rock Band content has been made available for the Xbox 360 edition on Tuesdays, followed by a PlayStation 3 release via the online Playstation Store on Thursdays.

Oasis V Blur The Rematch

Britpop rivals Oasis and Blur are set to go head to head again in a sensational telly special.

Beeb bosses are plotting a reunion clash between the two bands as part of a special episode of hit quiz show The Weakest Link.

More than a decade after their feud at the height of Britpop, telly chiefs are in talks with Gallagher brothers Liam, 35, and Noel, 40, and their old chart rivals Damon Albarn, 40, and Alex James, 39.

And they want to draft in a string of other top names for the pop music showdown.

Their hit-list includes Suede’s Brett Anderson, 40, Elastica’s Justine Frischmann, 38, Pulp’s Jarvis Cocker, 44, and Manic Street Preachers frontman James Dean Bradfield, 38.

It’s been over a decade since this lot have even been in the same room as each other A BBC source.

Also wanted are Shed Seven star Rick Witter, 35, and Gaz Coombes, 31, from Supergrass. A BBC source said the show was in the early planning stages, but added: “If we can pull this off it would be unbelievable.

“It’s been over a decade since this lot have even been in the same room as each other.

“To see them lined up next to one another with Queen of Mean Anne Robinson giving them stick would be amazing. It’s sure to ignite old rivalries, which would be TV gold.

“Noel admits he’s a Weakest Link fan.”

The Britpop war erupted in 1995, with Oasis releasing the single Roll With It and Blur issuing Country House on the same day.

Oasis: "We've Got Plenty Of Songs, We're Not Gonna Get Bored"

Oasis are keeping the exact details of their seventh studio album under wraps at present, but NME has gained a exclusive peek into their sessions at London's famous Abbey Road studios.

We also spoke to Noel Gallagher at Led Zepplin's o2 show last December and, although he didn't give too much away, he confirmed the album is finished and is currently being mixed. It seems it will be released in spring with a summer stadium tour likely to follow - but what will it sound like?

"We've been focusing on grooves more this time," the guitarist declared in October, also claiming that, lyrically, he's "been revisiting some of my more psychedelic trips as a younger man - because I remember them all, you see! and putting them to music."

This fits with the plan Noel told NME about last January, saying he wanted the record to be "absolutely colossal" and that he'd like it to feature "a 100-piece orchestra, choirs and all that stuff".

Among the many songs that could included are 'I Wanna Live In A Dream Machine', the track 'Stop The Clocks' (described by Noel as "the best thing I've ever written") and his brother's 'The Boy With The Blues', which the guitarist says could be "like a gospel track or something".

Liam Gallagher has been more forthcoming with details than his brother. Speaking in November, he explained: "All the songs are written, this record's gonna be f**kin' rockin'.

There's no acoustic on it, man. We rehearsed about 10 tunes before coming in. Three are mine. Some are Noel's, some are Gem Archer's, some are Andy Bell's.We're there for a long time, so we just keep picking 'em off the tree, man.

Some are sounding really f**kin' heavy, and then we're picking some out and you go, 'Well, that doesn't sit with that right,' So we just keep moving about. We've got plenty of songs. We're not going to get bored".

Special

"It is also the start of something special for us.

"We’ve created a campaign ‘Join the Line Up’ that centres around the Versus Cancer badge - basically, we’ve always been about loads of people getting together to make a stand and do something special, and this year we wanted everyone to be able to be a part of it."

Oasis, Coldplay, U2 Set For Giant 02 Arena Gigs This Summer?

Oasis could be set to play several giant gigs in London this summer.

The band, who are expected to release their seventh studio album this spring, are apparently in talks with London venue the O2 Arena.

According to the London Paper, the venue are speaking to the band’s management about a multiple date residency at the former Millennium Dome like those undertaken last year by Prince and Take That.

David Campbell, European Chief Executive of the venue’s promoters AEG, said Oasis were among his “dream bookings” with the O2 Arena also targeting the likes of Coldplay and U2 for shows during 2008.

Meanwhile the O2 Arena will host the Shockwaves NME Awards Big Gig, which sees Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party, Klaxons, The Cribs and this year’s Godlike Geniuses Manic Street Preachers sharing the bill on February 28 just after this year’s awards ceremony.

Johnny Depp Started His Music Career By Stealing

Hollywood actor Johnny Depp has revealed that he stole a guitar chord book as a child because he wanted to learn to play the instrument.

It was a Mel Bay book that he stole, Depp says.

“When I was 12, I talked my mom into picking up a Decca electric guitar for me for 25 dollars. The first thing I did was steal a Mel Bay chord book. I went to this store, stuffed it down my pants and walked out, Contactmusic quoted him as telling Rolling Stone magazine.

“It had pictures - that’s why I needed it so badly, because it was immediate gratification. If I could match those photographs, then I was golden. I conquered it in days,” he recalled.

Depp has performed on Oasis and Shane MACGowan records, besides featuring in bands like The Kids and P.

“The Oasis stuff was fun… I enjoyed playing slide on what was it called? Fade In-Out, he said.

“I was playing a guitar that had some strange tuning, and I didn’t know the chords to the song. So, looking back, it was sort of miraculous that I was able to stay on key,” he added.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star has also been appreciated a lot for playing singing barber Sweeney Todd in Tim Burton’s dark new musical.

Fall Out Boy Taking A Cue From Oasis On Upcoming (Non-Folk) Album

Fall Out Boy Taking A Cue From Oasis On Upcoming (Non-Folk) Album

Pete Wentz doesn't want to talk about Fall Out Boy's new album — because Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke told him not to.

"Whenever you talk about your album this far out, or any distance out, whatever you say — I watched Thom Yorke talk about this — whatever the first couple of things you say, or the first person who hears the record says, is really the only thing that ends up out there with the record," Wentz said. "We were like, 'Oh, yeah, it's a little more folky,' and people were like, 'They've got a folk album coming out!' and that's not really the case."

He's making light of a situation that arose last year, when he and frontman Patrick Stump did an interview about their appreciation for the storytelling aspects of folk music, which somehow got twisted into "Fall Out Boy are recording a folk album," which meant that they spent the remainder of 2007 telling anyone who'd listen that they weren't actually doing so.

So while he's not willing to talk at great lengths about the follow-up to Infinity on High, he wasn't about to send our intrepid reporter away empty-handed. So he offered up the following nugget, sure to be misconstrued by NME in the very near future.

"I think the one aspect we're bringing to the record is something Oasis did a lot, where they'd play these really distorted, awesome riffs, and they'd have an acoustic guitar over the entire song," he said. "It kind of brings this great sense of melody and softness to a song that would otherwise just totally be a rock song. And I want to go in a completely different direction with the lyrics, but we'll see if that happens."

So just when can fans expect to hear these Brit-pop-inspired tunes? Well, Wentz really doesn't have any idea. Right now, he and the rest of Fall Out Boy are relaxing and relishing some much-needed time off. Plus, he's not even completely sure that the songs he's talking about will make the final cut. After all, they're just a few out of many the band has written lately.

"We're just writing songs and goofing around and trying to enjoy time off," Wentz laughed. "But we're still working. We have, like, 50 new songs, and two of them are probably good."
