Oasis 'The Shock Of The Lightning' NME Track Of The Week

Oasis - The Shock Of The Lightning

So we've had the first couple of genius interviews, the UK tour dates have been announced, the first single's all over the radio... Lord ain't it just great to have Oasis back?

And the best thing is 'The Shock Of The Lightning' - if you haven't heard it yet, think the Scream's 'Shoot Speed/Kill Light' popped up, featuring two choruses and amazing Liam-sneered oddness like "Love is a time machine/Up on a silver screen" - while awesome it's still only the fifth best song on 'Dig Out Your Soul'

Turn On, tune in, get ready to start believing all over again.

New Oasis Album Is Not Britpop

Guitarist says experimental LP is 'not our usual thing'

Noel Gallagher has said the forthcoming Oasis album, 'Dig Out Your Soul', will see the band taking a newer, less mainstream direction.

Speaking to BBC 6Music, Gallagher explained that he does not expect to hear too many of the new songs on radio because of their more experimental nature.

"It's not Britpop, let's put it that way. It's not our usual thing," he explained. "It's just really exciting, three of the tracks have got two drummers on, me and Zak [Starkey] playing drums. Some of it sounds a bit glam. There's no pop singles on it. I'd be amazed if anything else gets on the radio past the first single."

Gallagher said that the album takes influences from The Stooges, The Doors and The Pretty Things - as well as John Lennon.

"There's a kind of piano-y, John Lennon-y obligatory plod-away song in the middle, which Liam wrote," he said, "and that's to break up the two sides which are pretty intense, and it's full-on from the start to finish."

'Dig Out Your Soul' is released on October 6. It's preceded by a single, 'The Shock Of the Lightning', on September 29.

Chemical Brothers Talk About Turning Down Oasis' 'Wonderwall' Remix

The Chemical Brothers have spoken about their decision to turn down the opportunity of remixing Oasis' hit 'Wonderwall'.

The dance duo, who were offered the chance to re-imagine the song in the early 90s, said they declined because of their lack of experience.

"They did ask us to remix Wonderwall when that first came out but basically we didn't know how to do it,” Tom Rowlands told the BBC.

"Yeah, that would have been good to do, it was a fairly big song,” Ed Simons added.

As previously reported on Gigwise, the duo recently remixed the Oasis song 'Falling Down', which will appear as a b-side to the Manchester band's new single, 'The Shock of the Lightning'.

Speaking about the remix, Rowlands said: "When Noel's name comes through on your phone, the command has been issued. It was exciting to do it and I'm glad they like it.

"We chucked loads of bits out and did it how we would want it to sound."

The single is released onSeptember 28th and will be followed by Oasis' new album 'Dig Out Your Soul', which is released on October 6th.

Oasis & Blur To Get 'Star Stories' Treatment

Star Stories actor Steve Edge has revealed that Oasis and Blur will be among the celebrities lampooned on the new series of the show.

Edge, who stars alongside Kevin Bishop on the Channel 4 programme, confirmed that the newest scripts are the funniest yet.

"I'm sure we're doing Elton John and David Furnish," Edge told The Mirror. "We read a new Britpop sketch of Oasis and Blur going to see Blair, which sounds good. Jarvis Cocker is the narrator, like an Austin Powers figure.

"It's a great job for summer - lots of funny wigs and silly voices."

The third series is currently in production and is expected to be included in Channel 4's autumn schedules.

Kaiser Chiefs Hit Back At Oasis' Noel Gallagher

Band suggest Gallagher is after publicity

Kaiser Chiefs have hit back at Oasis' Noel Gallagher, who recently made disparaging remarks about the Leeds band.

Noel Gallagher recently criticised Kaiser Chiefs, comparing them to The Monkees and saying that he didn't like the band despite the fact that he "did drugs for 18 years".

Kaiser Chiefs' drummer Nick Hodgson has since hit back at Gallagher, implying that the Oasis man is seeking publicity for his band's forthcoming new album, 'Dig Out Your Soul'.

"We're definitely not offended but I do actually like it, I think it's a bit of sport," he told BBC Newsbeat after the band's V Festival appearance in Chelmsford yesterday (August 17).

"It is funny though," he continued, "because it does happen [Gallagher criticising bands] every single time they put out an album. And the last two albums it's been us [getting the brunt of it].

"When I was 17 and Noel was going on about Blur I was watching it, and now I'm 30 and he's 50 and he's talking about us, it's brilliant."

Fish Supper At Noel's Plaice

There is nothing worse than celebs so paranoid about their fame they won’t leave their house to do normal things.

That’s why seeing Oasis star Noel Gallagher picking up fish and chips to take back to his London home for dinner on Saturday night is so refreshing.

I reckon old enemy Robbie Williams could learn a lot from Noel about how to handle fame.

Noel said it's the most current batch of songs that he has ever had for a album. And that three of the songs have two drummers on (Zak and Noel) and sounds a bit glam.

He said that there are no pop songs the album, and the album has a biblical theme to it and that he does not know where it's come from.

Julian who did the album artwork said that the album sounds like a religious armageddon.
