Ex-Oasis Bonehead Hits The Road With New Band - Tour Dates Announced

Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs, founder member and former guitarist with Oasis, has announced a UK and European tour with Manchester’s most talked-about new band, The Vortex.

"It really is like the old days of Oasis for me – these small, sweaty gigs where the audience are going barmy. There's a real menace and excitement to this band. I've seen it before with Oasis. And I'm seeing it all over again with The Vortex." Bonehead talking about The Vortex.

The Vortex are cooking up a storm at their regular visits to Alan McGee's Death Disco in London, and are currently recording their debut album with Bonehead on production duties.

“You can always put your trust in Manchester music and the Vortex are set for big things, they've been setting their controls for the heart of the northern anthem as if Kasabian never existed. Plus, the new demos have been surpassing all expectation: pure anthems for party people. Oh yeah, they just added Bonehead (of Oasis fame) on guitar.” Alan McGee (writing in The Guardian)

The Vortex consist of Mike Price (vocals), Bonehead (guitar), Maz Bedjet (guitar), Nick Repton (bass), Sean O'Donnell (drums) and Jaxx* (backing vocals).

JAXX (Heather Small/Cotton Club vocalist) has also joined The Vortex full-time, and will be touring with the band this autumn. The band have also recently filmed their part in brit-gangster flick ‘Freight’ with celebrated hard man Joe Egan.

Oasis Heaton Park Refunds

All refund applications for the Oasis Heaton Park concert received by the closing date (12th June) have now been processed and by now all applicants should have received their cheque or a letter explaining why their application was unsuccessful.

If you have applied for a refund and have not received a response, or received a cheque written out incorrectly please email help@oasisheatonpark.com with your name and address. This email address (which will remain open until the 31st August) is ONLY for applicants who have not received any response or have an incorrectly completed cheque. No other correspondence will be entered into.

Ticket holders are reminded of the following:

- Only applications received by the 12th June enclosing the original tickets are eligible.
- Only valid tickets scanned on entry at Heaton Park are eligible. If you did not go to the show you cannot make a claim.
- Incorrectly completed forms are ineligible. Organisers simply cannot process these.
- Ticket purchases for the concert were restricted to a maximum of 6 per person. Single applications for more than the 6 ticket maximum are therefore ineligible.
- Only tickets purchased directly from authorised ticket agencies are eligible. If you bought a ticket on eBay, from a tout or other secondary source you cannot claim.

The Heaton Park refund offer was a discretionary offer made by Oasis and their promoters. The organisers decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Police Warning: Behave At V Festival Or You’re Out

Tens of thousands of revellers heading to this year’s V Festival are being warned: “behave or face eviction”.

With headliners including the mighty Oasis, The Killers, Elbow and Snow Patrol, a whopping 180,000 music fans are expected to flock to the two-day festival at Weston Park at Weston-under-Lizard, on the Staffordshire/Shropshire border.

But Staffordshire Police is determined that the August 22 and 23 event will remain trouble free.

The force’s Chief Inspector Pete Owen, who is one of the event’s commanders, said: “A trouble-free environment is Staffordshire Police’s number one priority at this year’s V Festival.

“As in previous years, a premises licence has been granted by the local authority to cover the site from August 21 to 24.

“This means anyone involved in violence, disorder or any other crime faces immediate ejection along with criminal prosecution.”

CI Owen revealed that a “significant number” of uniformed and plain clothed officers would be deployed to keep a close eye on revellers as well as Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras used to scan registration numbers and weed out known offenders as they enter the site as part of a “robust policing plan”.

He said Weston Park would also be covered by “extensive” CCTV coverage.

CI Owen added: “Recorded crime at V Festival again fell last year along with the number of arrests. V has built a national reputation for its low-crime, trouble-free atmosphere and is rightly regarded as one of the safest festivals in the UK.”

Oasis To Close Their World Tour At Milan I-DAY Festival With Special Ticket Offer

On Sunday 30th August, Oasis will finish their current world tour at I-Day Milano Urban Festival.

In his 'Tales From The Middle Of Nowhere', Noel refers to Italy as the bands’ 'spiritual home' and anyone who has been to an Oasis gig in Italy will know why. It’s fitting that Oasis have chosen Milan to stage the final show of their record-breaking 13 month World Tour.

As this will be the last chance to see the band in 2009, Oasisinet has teamed up with the festival to secure 20% off the face value of the tickets for Oasis fans. To get your tickets, click HERE!

Kasabian and Twisted Wheel are also due to play the same stage that day, so it's set to be a great day given both band's close-ties to Oasis.

New Row Over Oasis Refunds

Angry Oasis fans say they STILL haven't got their money back after power cuts disrupted the band's homecoming show.

Noel Gallagher promised 70,000 fans a refund live on stage after the Heaton Park gig on June 4 got off to a stuttering start.

Noel later said the thousands who took him up on the offer were being 'cheeky' - but 20,000 cheques have already been sent out with the logo 'Bank of Burnage'.

But fan websites are now being flooded with comments from people complaining that their bid for a refund has been turned down for not meeting strict criteria.

Anyone determined to get a refund has until the end of this month to keep trying, but a post on the band's website warns that 'the Heaton park refund offer was a discretionary offer' and their decision is final.

The post also warns that organisers can't process 'incorrectly completed forms'.

Now a number of fans are furious after being told their claims are 'ineligible' even though they met the initial June 12 deadline and believe they met all the conditions.

One fan accused the band of 'doing a complete u-turn to save themselves some cash'.

Another fan who was refused a refund, Dorothy Peters, told the M.E.N: "It's very poor. Obviously I'm annoyed as I cannot see why they are refusing my claim. I bought the tickets at Heaton Park at a box office."

Why Oasis Are Rock 'N' Roll Heroes

Jon McClure has branded touring pals Oasis “the last real rock ’n’ roll heroes we’ve got left”.

The Reverend And The Makers mainman, famed for rattling off opinions just like the Gallaghers, supported the Manchester icons this summer.

And Jon, 27, reckons Liam, 36, and Noel, 42, are more powerful than even Gordon Brown, 58.

He told me: “I think the celebrity pop bubble is close to bursting now. I get on great with the Gallaghers – they are the last real rock ’n’ roll heroes we’ve got left.

“They are the only people who aren’t afraid to speak their mind, no matter what the consequences. They should be applauded.

“Even the Prime Minister isn’t allowed to to say what he likes, but Oasis can.”

The Makers have been doing guerrilla busking gigs around the country this week to promote second album A French Kiss In The Chaos.

Jon said: “It’s good not telling people where we are going, then just turning up outside some building. It’s about giving something back to people who don’t live in Shoreditch.

“It’s an experience – like your paper the Daily Star, most readers are from the North, not Shoreditch.”

Jon also has several side projects on the go, including Mongrel.

He explained: “I like putting different stuff out under different titles as I get bored.”

Just don’t expect to see him at a Kings Of Leon show.

He said: “Kings Of Leon are hail-ed as gods but their latest album sounds like Bon Jovi.”
