Both The Gallagher's Hit London Town

Biz Lords Liam and Noel Gallagher hit the town in London last night. But, as you might expect, they weren't together.

Oh no, gone are the days when the Manchester-born brothers would have a big tear up together, and end up having a scrap with each other.

While Noel and his missus Sara enjoyed a night at the famous Groucho Club in Soho, Liam was in north London at the first ever club night for his label Pretty Green.

Both looked on good form.

Earlier in the night Kasabian star Tom Meighan played at Pretty Green's Carnaby Street store.

Before the performance Liam said: "Tom's a good mate of mine. He knows his music. I know you will all have a good time. It was about time he got a proper f****** job."

He's a got a way with words that man...

Last night Pretty Green held its first-ever dedicated club night at the Garage in Islington, London. Beady Eye's Andy Bell was one of the DJs performing at the event.

Andy's very kindly let us grab his set from him and you can listen to it below. He managed to cram in some great tunes from the likes of Kid Koala and DJ Dangermouse as well classics from The Beatles, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix and The Rolling Stones!

Fans with keen ears will also be able to pick out Beady Eye's cover of 'Sons Of The Stage' - the World Of Twist track we used to tease you with recently! - as well as triumphant set closer, 'Bring The Light'.

Beady Eye Discuss New Album

A few bits 'n' bobs I typed up from the current issue of Q.

Liam Gallagher named the band, and that rehearsals began with Beady Eye a few weeks after Noel left with the understanding that they would leave Oasis behind for good and play only new material, originated by Gallagher, Archer and Bell, and collectively worked up into co-written group compositions.

Liam on moving on from Oasis. "It was important not to sit and dwell on the past," he explains. " We came off tour and were still on fire. If we'd said, let's do something in a few months, or next year, the flame would have burnt out or we'd have got the fear. We were buzzing."

"We're musicians," adds Andy Bell "It's what we want to do, it's how we define ourselves. We could have sat at home, but what's the point?"

Gem Archer on the irony of working with Jeff Wooton, who plays guitar in the touring line-up of Damon Albarn's Gorrilaz. "You need irony in your life, and Damon Albarn has his head screwed on using him, he's a great musician."

The band have described the new songs as "light on their feet" and a move away from the wall of sound style of Oasis. Gem said " Psychedelia is a big word, but there are definite psychedelic moments in there. But there's also anti-psychedelic, very basic songs, and a lot of rock 'n' roll piano borrowed from Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis. Sound wise The Who, The Kinks and the Stones are there, that's the stuff in our blood.

Gem on working with Steve Lillywhite, "He was a ball of energy and made us focus and work quickly. It was that vibe again of trying to create a proper debut album - and that's exactly what I think we have done. It sounds exciting."

Tom Meighan On Beady Eye

A photo of Tom, from the Pretty Green store in London this evening.

Tom Meighan has revealed that he'd listened to part of Liam Gallagher's new material from his Beady Eye project in a hotel room about three months ago.

He said he liked what he'd heard, even though it was unmastered.

"I've heard Liam's record and it's fantastic," he revealed. "What he's doing is amazing.

"He was the frontman of Oasis. He's got nothing to prove any more. I love him and adore him but it's so not Oasis at all."

Ray Stubbs On Drinking With Noel Gallagher

Taken from a interview with Ray Stubbs

Speaking of mayhem and madness, in an interview with Irish magazine Hot Press in 2006, Noel Gallagher from Oasis declared that "Ray Stubbs is a fucking legend". Are you aware of that?

Am I aware of that? I've got the article blown up, framed and made into wallpaper for my house. Actually I haven't, but it's given me a good idea.

Can you remember why this Mancunian wild man of rock thinks you're a legend?

I can remember the incident vividly, yes.

And would you care to share it with our readers?

It was at the World Cup 2006 wrap party and we were playing a drinking game that the younger generation of the BBC staff present launched. When the challenge was set, I felt I had to stick up for the old brigade and try to hold my own.

According to Gallagher, you downed two steins of German lager in the time it took the assembled throng to sing the theme music to Match of the Day. That's impressive ...

I can't remember the exact details, but it was something like that. As an observer from afar, Noel was probably in a better position to remember than me. As someone who admires his music so much, I was incredibly pleased when I heard he'd said that.

It seems to have been quite a party, with Gallagher there, alongside Alessandro Del Piero and Spike Lee, among other celebrities.

It was fascinating. Martin O'Neill was there, Marcel Desailly ... Leonardo. In fact the final line of the Fiver the day after was that the "the BBC's wrap party wasn't as dull as the coverage".

Above are a few videos from November 26th 2006, when Noel Gallagher played an acoustic show at the Union Chapel in Islington as part of the Little Noises Sessions for charity Mencap.

Performing in front of his smallest UK audience for years, Gallagher backed by Gem Archer on guitar and percussionist Terry Kirkbride, played a mixture of acoustic B-sides and album tracks.

Gem Archer Warms To Oasis Reunion

EDIT: I took down the story from The Sun who obviously can't tell the difference between Gem and Liam.

Liam Gallagher's new band have ruled out performing any Oasis songs when they play their debut tour in the new year.

The group Beady Eye announced their first live show will take place in Glasgow in March with five other UK dates to follow.

But the show will not feature any of the songs which have made frontman Liam - and the rest of the group, made up of ex-Oasis musicians - into stars.

In an interview in the January edition of Q magazine, on sale from Friday, guitarist Gem Archer said: "We're just buzzing about this band and looking forward to the album coming out and getting out on the road.

"And there'll be no Oasis songs, either, if you were going to ask."

The new group formed after Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher, Liam's brother, walked out on the band after years of internal friction.

Despite the bad blood between the Gallagher brothers, Archer said Noel remained on good terms with the others.

But he was unable to say whether he expected the former band leader to reform Oasis in the future.

"Give us a chance man, no one's thinking that far ahead," he told Q.

Liam Gallagher In Birmingham To Launch New Pretty Green Range

Former Oasis front man Liam Gallagher will be in Birmingham tonight to launch the latest range for his clothing line.

The feisty singer will be at Selfridges, Bullring, between 6-8pm to unveil the new spring/summer Pretty Green collection in an invitation-only event.

Liam and brother Noel headed up Oasis for nearly 20 years with hits including Wonderwall and Some Might Say. But the two brothers announced they were splitting up in August 2009 shortly after headlining the V Festival at Weston Park. Liam’s new band Beady Eye have just released their first single Bring the Light and are planning to tour next year.

Pretty Green was launched in London last year with a glitzy party attracting names such as boxing champion Ricky Hatton, singer Richard Ashcroft and Liam’s wife Nicole Appleton.

Blending casual and tailoring designs, the range, founded and designed by Liam, took Menswear Brand of the Year award at the Drapers Fashion Awards earlier this year.

More On Noel Gallagher And Miles Kane Collaboration

Ex-Oasis star Noel Gallagher is working on his debut solo album, collaborator Miles Kane has confirmed.

One half of The Last Shadow Puppets alongside Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner, Kane said he has played guitar on a new track set for Gallagher's solo debut.

Noel Gallagher had told fans not to expect new material any time soon.

In September he told the BBC: "I'm moving house and my missus is nine months pregnant so I'm not doing anything until well into next year."

Miles Kane's appearance on the album was a favour after Gallagher lent vocals to a track on his forthcoming solo debut called My Fantasy, set for release next year.

Speaking to Newsbeat, Kane said: "I play guitar on one of his songs for his album.

"I was only in there for a couple of hours. I did my thing. That was in return for me going on his one."

In March, Noel Gallagher played a handful of dates, his first since Oasis split in 2009 but didn't play any new material.

Since then he's been working on songs and Miles Kane says he got in touch with Noel Gallagher first.

"I was mixing the record and I was going to do these harmonies to give it a boost - it was a bit flat," he said.

"I text him [Gallagher] saying, I need some icing on this tune and he said, 'Icing is what I do very well'.

"It's only a really subtle thing on the middle eight and the chorus of this song called My Fantasy. It's nice, I'm very honoured that he did it. It's a nice little touch."
