On This Day In Oasis History...

On December 1st 2006, Oasis superfan Ben from Stockport won the prize of a lifetime to have Noel Gallagher play some songs in his own home.

Noel was on top form, cracking jokes and played acoustic versions of Half The World Away, The Importance Of Being Idle and Don't Look Back In Anger.

Liam Gallagher's 'Pretty Green' Store Is Good For Local Business

The arrival of Liam Gallagher's Pretty Green store on Carnaby Street has been very good for business in the neighbourhood - and, after a successful six months of trading, will be extending its stay on the iconic street with a longer lease.

According to The Times, the ex-Oasis frontman's shop is one of a number of retailers that have helped Shaftesbury, the West End property company, achieve pre-tax profits of £22.3 million.

The company, which owns over 500 properties across Carnaby Street, Covent Garden and Charlotte Street, has announced a raise in its income by 5.7 per cent to £57.6 million in the 12 months to September 30 2010.

Noel Gallagher's Daughter To Follow In His Footsteps?

Noel Gallagher's daughter Anais is becoming a rock star like her dad and has started playing the guitar.

Anais, 10, is Gallagher's daughter with his ex-wife Meg Mathews, 44, and Mathews said the little girl is already into her music.

She said to UK's Fabulous magazine: 'She's learning guitar and recently came home playing Rage Against The Machine.'

Asked if she gets on well with her ex-hubby, she said: 'Really well. I get on with his partner Sara MacDonald, too. I saw her on Saturday in fact. She picked up Anais to take her to see The X Factor, which she loves.'

On This Day In Oasis History...

"I'm Outta Time" is a song by English rock band Oasis, featured on their 2008 seventh studio album Dig Out Your Soul. The second single from the album, succeeding "The Shock of the Lightning", "I'm Outta Time" was written by lead vocalist Liam Gallagher and released on 1 December 2008.

The song has been noted as one of the highlights of the album by fans, as well as the band themselves, with guitarist Noel Gallagher labelling it "deceptively brilliant". It has also been praised by music critics, with NME calling it a "ballad" and comparing it to the music of Oasis-admired rock band The Beatles.

It charted at #12 in the UK Singles Chart - the first Oasis single to miss the top ten since 1994, ending the band's streak of 22 consecutive top tens.

The song features a short speech sample from John Lennon taken from one of his very last interviews in 1980.[3] The speech sample says: "As Churchill said, it's every Englishman's inalienable right to live where the hell he likes. What's it going to do, vanish? Is it not going to be there when I get back?".

Style

The song bears similarity, in style, to John Lennon's work in the early 1970s. The piano which features on the track partly emulates that of Lennon's "Jealous Guy", with the three octave jumps in C major. This was intentional, given that the track was written by Gallagher as a tribute to Lennon. Liam jokingly claims that it took him nine years to write the song.

Behind The Scenes Of The FA Cup Draw With Serge Pizzorno And Noel Gallagher

Behind the scenes footage of the FA Cup 3rd round draw featuring Noel Gallagher and Serge Pizzorno who confirmed their status as 'supreme beings' by engineering fate and setting up their dream FA Cup tie on Sunday.

Manchester City fan Gallagher, of Oasis fame, and die-hard Leicester City supporter Pizzorno, the creative force behind Kasabian, were stunned when their fantasy fixture became a reality.

The creative pair were at Wembley to make the draw for the Third Round Proper and the song-writing duo could not have written a better version of events.

The Kasabian axe-man, who regularly performs in front of tens of thousands of fans, admitted that the co-incidence shredded his already jangling nerves.

Broken Vinyl Strut Their Stuff For Liam Gallagher

A South Wales rock group has had its first taste of celebrity high life after performing at Liam Gallagher’s request.

The former Oasis frontman asked Broken Vinyl Club to play at the launch of his Pretty Green fashion label.

The four-piece, from Cardiff and Aberdare, played to about 250 people at The Relentless Garage in London on Friday.

Singer Scott Howells said: “It went really well, we played great and the crowd were really up for it, we got lots of good feedback.

“We couldn’t have expected this, to be honest. We’re just happy to be here and really enjoying it.”

The band is putting the finishing touches to their debut album, released on Cardiff-based See Monkey Do Monkey Records.

“Once you get up there, and you play that first song, it’s all about playing and being in control of the music,” Howells added.

“You’re not scanning the crowd to see what people are thinking, you’re just enjoying it.”

Noel Gallagher: 'FA Cup Draw Was Nerve-Wracking'

Noel Gallagher has said that he was more nervous drawing the FA Cup third round balls yesterday (November 28) than he was playing live with Oasis.

The guitarist drew the balls with Kasabian's Serge Pizzorno, with both drawing out their own favoured teams, Manchester City and Leicester City respectively, to play against each other.

"What where the odds on that, its unbelievable!" Gallagher said. "I am blown away by that, when I turned the ball around I nearly dropped it. I was more nervous after that then when I walked out on stage here at Wembley. The odds were astronomical."

Pizzorno said: "I was really nervous before the draw. I kept having visions that I was going to drop the bag and have to chase all the balls around the floor!"

he added: "Once I made that draw I completely lost it, I don’t remember pulling the next 10 balls out, I didn’t know what was going on. It was psychedelic."

The Leicester City vs Manchester City FA Cup game will take place on January 8 or 9.

Liam Gallagher says he’s no longer a rock wild man after giving up booze and parties.

Mad for it Liam is bored of late nights and finally feels ready to rid his life of Cigarettes and Alcohol.

But the singer, 38, had a final fling watching hedonistic pals Primal Scream in London at the weekend.

Despite downing a fair few with his Beady Eye bandmates and Jarvis Cocker, 47, afterwards at W Hotel’s swanky new Wyld bar, Liam really wasn’t feeling it.

Stars Are Rocked In Cup Draw

Rock stars Noel Gallagher and Serge Pizzorno did the FA Cup draw yesterday - and pulled out their own teams against each other.

Leicester City-supporting Kasabian guitarist Serge, 29, drew his club - and seconds later Oasis's Gallagher, 43, pulled out Manchester City.

They hugged each other and laughed, with Noel shouting: "That's outrageous."

There were 64 teams in the draw.

The net was quickly flooded with comments.

Rourkey76 posted: "HaHa noway! Serge from Kasabian & Noel from Oasis did the FA cup draw and pulled their own teams against each other! Surely a fix!"

Elton John: Oasis Were ‘Stupid Sods'

Elton John has taken a huge swipe at Oasis for failing to crack America.

The legend has called Noel and Liam Gallagher "stupid sods" for cancelling a series of gigs in the US in the mid-Nineties.

He said: "They were enormous in Britain, they were enormous in America and they went over there and argued between themselves and cancelled the tour and they never broke America.

"You only get it once, and if you blow it, it's gone. You can't not regret that.

"I always thought, 'You stupid sods. You'll never get that opportunity again'."

Just for good measure, Elton then stuck the boot in further by saying he reckons the Gallagher brothers are only children compared to the members of Coldplay and Muse.

Speaking to Absolute Radio's Christian O'Connell he said: "It's only the cream that rises to the top. It's always the ones with the best work ethic and the best material and the best attitude.

"You know, it's the boys from the men. Coldplay, Muse, U2, Police, all those bands. They're the men, and all the rest are boys."

Don't mince your words, mate.

Liam was definitely playing the big kid as he mucked about pulling faces at Primal Scream's almighty post gig tear-up in London on Saturday at W Hotel's Wyld Bar.

He joined the likes of Kate Moss and fashion's Philip Treacy as the band celebrated performing their classic 1991 album Screamadelica at London Olympia.

Liam's got form for being lippy - and it doesn't look like he's about to change his ways any time soon...

On This Day In Oasis History...

Above are a few videos from November 28th 2006, when Noel Gallagher played an acoustic show at the Le Cabaret Sauvage in Paris as part of the promotion for Stop The Clocks.

Performing in front of his smallest UK audience for years, Gallagher backed by Gem Archer on guitar and percussionist Terry Kirkbride, played a mixture of acoustic B-sides and album tracks.

Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie Backs Beady Eye

Primal Scream frontman Bobby Gillespie hopes former Oasis singer Liam Gallagher achieves success with his new venture Beady Eye.

Primal Scream frontman Bobby Gillespie hopes Liam Gallagher's new band Beady Eye is a huge success.

The singer is yet to hear the band's first track 'Bring The Light' but insists he is a big fan of the 'Songbird' singer and is confident he will make a rocking album with his bandmates Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Chris Sharrock, who all also performed with Oasis.

He said: "I love Liam and I love Noel and I wish them both the best of luck in their new musical explorations. I don't understand measuring people against what they did formerly. Either it rocks or it doesn't rock. I hope it's successful for Liam."

The Manchester rocker decided to form his band after his brother Noel Gallagher quit the group in August 2009 following a pre-concert bust-up.

Though Bobby hasn't heard Beady Eye's new material yet, he will have the opportunity to see them as the group have announced their first live dates for March next year.

Hurricane # 1 Re-Release Both Studio Albums

On November 29th Hurricane # 1 will re-release both their studio albums 'Hurricane # 1' and 'Only The Strongest Will Survive' on Cherry Red as expanded 2 CD editions with B-sides and remixes.

For those of you unfamiliar to the name Hurricane #1 were a band, formed in 1996 by Andy Bell, along with vocalist/guitarist Alex Lowe, bassist Will Pepper and drummer Gareth Farmer.

The band signed to Creation Records and they released their debut album in 1997, entitled Hurricane #1. This included their first single, "Step Into My World", which reached number 29 in the UK Singles Chart. The other singles released from the debut album were "Just Another Illusion" and "Chain Reaction".

Their other big hit single was "Only The Strongest Will Survive", which also reached number 19 in 1998, and which featured on their second album, Only The Strongest Will Survive.

Andy quit the band in 1999 to become the new guitar player for Gay Dad. Shortly after joining Gay Dad, Andy split from the band to become the bass player for Oasis.

Former Hurricane #1 vocalist / guitarist, Lowe has pursued a solo career, and has released a number of albums to date.

On This Day In Oasis History...

Let There Be Love" is a song on the British rock band Oasis' sixth album, Don't Believe the Truth. Written by Noel Gallagher, it is the second Oasis song to feature Liam and Noel on lead vocals, the first being the B-Side "Acquiesce". It was released on November 28, 2005 as the third single from the album in the UK, and the second single in the US. It reached number two in the UK charts, capping a very successful year for the band. Many critics cited this song as proof that Oasis had returned to form we had seen in the mid-90's.

A demo for the track was recorded during demo sessions for Standing on the Shoulder of Giants. A bootleg of these demo sessions was leaked onto the Internet in early 2000. This track was given the unofficial title "It's A Crime" on many bootlegs as the track was unknown and unreferenced anywhere before then. The album version of the song is structurally almost exactly as the same as the demo with a slight change in melody in the part that Noel sings. The lyrics to the chorus remains intact, but the verses and bridge have totally rewritten lyrics.

The single version of the song omits the second verse and chorus.



A second, Noel-sung demo was released on the "Let There Be Love" DVD single. It has the same lyrics as the album version, and in fact the album version takes some elements from the demo such as the piano. It was probably recorded sometime in 2003 or 2004, prior to the main Don't Believe the Truth recording sessions.

The video is a montage of some of Oasis' live shows during the summer of 2005 including clips of the gigs at Hampden Park and the City of Manchester Stadium. The clips don't actually show the band playing 'Let There Be Love'.

The song has only been played live once, on an Italian radio show in late 2005.
