Liam Gallagher Speaks About Beady Eye

Liam Gallagher says the debut album from his new band Beady Eye will "blow people's heads off."

He said: "I feel good man, I'm confident. It's a good album, good tunes, I'm singing great, it's good.

"Obviously I'm singing and I'm not singing any different than I was in Oasis, although I like to think I'm singing a bit better than that, because I've had a bit of time off.

"It's just rock 'n' roll man, Beatles and The Stones, you know what I mean? We've not gone dubstep or anything.

"I think we've got a lot of energy back, a lot of energy that we might have lost in the later days of Oasis, you know what I mean? The music is light on its feet and we're stomping a bit."

Liam also whetted the appetites of gig-goers as Beady Eye prepare to hit the road in March.

He added: "Without a doubt the smaller gigs are where it's at. You only do the big ones for financial reasons, but I'm looking forward to playing gigs big, small, whatever. It's gonna be great.

"We're rehearsing at the moment and it's gonna blow people's heads off. We're gonna go all over the world."

He was speaking at the launch of his clothes shop Pretty Green in Manchester and admitted his new material will sound like Oasis but he thinks that's no bad thing.

Crowds Queue At Launch Of Liam Gallagher's Pretty Green Clothing Store

He may be the king of rock ’n’ roll swagger – but Liam Gallagher admitted to some opening-day nerves as he launched his first fashion boutique in Manchester.

The former Oasis frontman is hoping his Pretty Green fashion label will reign in King Street after taking over the former Joseph store at the top of the prestigious retail parade.

Liam, 38, told the M.E.N: “It always feels a bit weird coming back to your home town. There are always nerves about how you’ll be received but it’s looking good so far. If people are into it they’re into it, and if they’re not they’re not.

“It’s keeping me off the streets, you know what I mean? I just hope it continues to go on and keeps getting better.”

A queue of more than 100 shoppers and fans snaked along King Street as punters eagerly awaited their first look inside Liam’s store.

He chose the King Street location after scouting a number of retail spots in the city centre. His men’s fashion label was launched 18 months ago – initially through Selfridges.

Liam, who opened his first ‘pop-up’ boutique in London, was due to travel up to Glasgow to open a third store – but had to cancel because of the bad weather.

Asked why he had chosen King Street, he said: “I came here about three months ago and I thought King Street, that sounds good to me, man. The prices are a bit high though aren’t they?

“I just liked the building. It’s old, it looks good. I didn’t want to be in some greenhouse or something.”

Since launching his debut range Liam has found himself the toast of the fashion world – winning a prestigious Drapers Award for best menswear brand. His mod-influenced menswear – including Liam’s trademark parka – has also been worn by a host of celebrities.

Liam is soon to return to the ‘day job’, releasing an album with his new group Beady Eye in February with a tour to follow in March. The band formed after Liam’s well-publicised fall out with brother Noel in 2009 – which led to the ‘indefinite hiatus’ of Oasis.

Liam said: “I can’t wait to get back out there doing gigs, and doing what I do best.

“It’s rock ’n’ roll, man, singing, it’s what I love.”

Liam Gallagher Takes Part In John Lennon Documentry

An interview with Liam Gallagher at the site of the Beatles last ever concert in 1969 on the roof of the Apple building in London’s Savile Row was shown on ITV this evening.

Liam told the programme why John Lennon had such an impact on his life and career.

The Day John Lennon Died featured an exclusive, moving interview with John’s widow Yoko Ono Lennon, the only interview she is giving to mark this significant anniversary outside the US. She recalls their life together and the events of that last terrible day.

With rare archive footage of John’s life in New York, including touching family moments with Yoko and Sean, the programme gives an intimate insight of John’s life and the point it had reached before his murder.

The film recounts the events at the heart of John’s last day, from when he visited his favourite barbers in the morning, to when he was pronounced dead later that evening.

The Day John Lennon Died also looks at how John’s death affected those who knew and loved him including Cilla Black, David Frost and Gerry Marsden.
