Beady Eye Stay In A Danish Mental Hospital

Liam Gallagher has checked in to an asylum (don’t panic, he checked out again a few days later).

His Beady Eye bandmate Andy Bell revealed that the group stayed in a spooky ex-psychiatric hospital while they were in Denmark last week.

“The hotel we were in was a former mental home and it was haunted,” he told Absolute Radio at the Isle of Wight Festival. There was a lot of prank phone calls going on – but that was us.” Liam, 38, added: “They all checked out and we checked in all the movies, man.” Right.

Beady Boys Not Always Eye-To-Eye

Liam Gallagher has revealed that just like Oasis, his new band don't always get on.
The frontman - who had a famously fiery relationship with his brother and former bandmate Noel - performed at this weekend's Isle of Wight Festival with his new group Beady Eye.

He told Absolute Radio DJ Sarah Champion: "We're not the Waltons... we have our bad days and we have good days, you know what I mean, like we did in Oasis. But, you know, this is what we're here to do, is make music, and that's what we shall do."

Liam also said the band was happy to be out on the road - despite the heavy downpours at the Newport festival.

"I'm from Manchester anyway," he added. "This isn't rain, man, it's just spit."

"Shakermaker" is a song by British rock group Oasis, written by their lead guitarist Noel Gallagher. First appearing as a single, released on the 13th June 1994, which peaked at number 11 in the UK charts, it was later released on Oasis' groundbreaking debut album Definitely Maybe. It was also the first song performed by the band on the UK's world famous music program, Top Of The Pops.

Gallagher admits the lyrics are taken from the world around him, for example, a Shaker Maker was a popular toy in the 1970s, the character of "Mr Soft" was taken from a Trebour Soft Mints commercial, which featured Cockney Rebel's song "Mr Soft", "Mr. Clean" is a song by The Jam, one of Gallagher's favourite bands, "Mr Benn" is a British children's cartoon and the entire last verse - Mr Sifter sold me songs/When I was just 16/Now he stops at traffic lights/But only when they're green - was written in a taxi on the way to the recording studio to record the song. Apparently, Liam Gallagher was pestering Noel to finish the song. At this point, the taxi stopped at the traffic lights outside 'Sifter's"' (a record shop in Burnage, Manchester). Noel penned the lyric and it became part of the song. Noel used to frequent the store to buy old records before Oasis started releasing albums and Mr Sifter refers to the owner of the record store.

Beady Eye At The Isle Of Wight Festival

Liam Gallagher made his first appearance at the Isle Of Wight Festival tonight (June 12), playing with Beady Eye on the Main Stage of the bash before headliners Kasabian.

Oasis never played at the event but tonight the singer certainly took his chance to make an impression – choosing to wear a huge coat designed in the colours of the Union Jack flag, surely one of the most colourful images of the weekend so far.

The rain was tipping down for the band's show – as it had been all day – with Liam drily acknowledging the sogginess of the fans. He introduced 'Kill For A Dream' as 'Kill For A Suntan' and reassured the crowd that they "still look pretty good, mate," despite their dampness.

His coat wasn't the only fashion statement he made during the set. He dedicated 'Man Of Misery' to "all you Pretty Greens" – a reference to his fashion label, Pretty Green.

As well as playing songs from their debut album 'Different Gear, Still Speeding', Beady Eye ended the set with their usual set-closer, their cover of World Of Twist's 'Sons Of The Stage'.

Beady Eye played:

'Four Letter Word'
'Beatles And Stones'
'Millionaire'
'The Roller'
'Bring The Light'
'Standing On The Edge Of The Noise'
'Kill For A Dream'
'Three Ring Circus'
'The Beat Goes On'
'Man Of Misery'
'Morning Sun'
'Wigwam'
'Sons Of The Stage'

Brother Tell Liam Gallagher To 'Enjoy The Rain, Mate' At Isle Of Wight

Brother played an afternoon set to a soggy Isle Of Wight Festival crowd on the final day of the 2011 event today (June 12). They also found time to talk about uncomplimentary comments made by Liam Gallagher about them.

Despite their Britpop influences the band said that they are not fans of Liam's new outfit Beady Eye, who'll be playing later this evening on the Main Stage.

"Liam Gallagher said a few unfavourable things about me in particular and our band but I’ll be the bigger man, I won't say anything back," said frontman Lee Newell. "But what I will say is at least he's still playing music and if I was in his position, I'd do the same thing – but our album would be good. Enjoy the rain mate."

Noel Gallagher Lost Plot With You Lot

Noel Gallagher’s people gave Best British Band winners You Me At Six a major ticking-off for Tweeting about the star’s new album.

Singer Josh Franceschi, 20, who has been recording in the same studio as Noel, told me: “We got in a lot of trouble. It sounded amazing – of course it did, it was Noel Gallagher.

“That’s the only reason I commented as I’m a massive Oasis fan and I couldn’t believe we were next door.”

He added the band hooked up with Olly, 20, from Bring Me The Horizon and Wiz, 28, from Parkway Drive on their own new album.
