Noel Gallagher Responds To Robbie Williams Jibe

Robbie Williams should know better than to raise the ire of Noel Gallagher.

On Friday night at Wembley, Robbie said: "The Rolling Stones have done two nights here. Oasis did three - Take That are here for eight on the trot. Mick Jagger can lick Gary Barlow's face. Noel Gallagher can lick my a**e."

And not for the first time in their colourful past, his old nemesis Noel has responded with a jibe.

Referring to Robbie's revelation that he has the sex drive of a 100-year-old, Noel said: "Lick his big fat Bobby-Butlins a**e? Wow! The hormone replacements must be doing the trick, eh? I'd rather suck on his man boobs." Robbie told Esquire magazine he regularly injects testosterone to treat a diagnosed hormone imbalance.

It's like pulling your pants down and asking for your bottom to be spanked in public by an opportunist verbal sparring partner like Noel.

And he's wise to get it out of the way now. The recently married Manc has a big announcement this week about his solo career - which shouldn't be dominated by someone else's antics.

Robbie doesn't need the mud-slinging any more.

It's a waste of energy and - more importantly for his baby-hungry missus Ayda - a waste of that priceless testosterone.

Liam Gallagher: 'The Guitar Noel Smashed When Oasis Split Will Fund My Pension'

Beady Eye man says Paris altercation has left him with a piece of rock'n'roll history.

Liam Gallagher has joked that he's planning to use the guitar smashed by his brother Noel when Oasis split to fund his pension.

The Beady Eye man recalled the altercation, which occurred in Paris in 2009, during an interview on Alan Carr: Chatty Man, which was broadcast on Channel 4 last night (July 1).

Asked whether rumours that he smashed one of Noel's guitars during the incident were true, Liam responded: "No it was the other way round, he smashed one of mine. I've still got it in pieces. It's a shame, it was a nice guitar.

He continued: "It's rock'n'roll history man, it'll be worth a few quid that in a few year's time that. I could sell it on in bits. That's my pension."

A supposed eyewitness account published on a gossip website in 2009 claimed that both Liam and Noel smashed each other's guitars during the fight.

Liam also reiterated his belief that Beady Eye are better than Oasis, commenting: "I wouldn't do it if I didn't think we were better."

The singer also discussed his decision to quit alcohol and his reasons for not attending Noel's recent wedding to Sara Macdonald.

Beady Eye performed their new single 'The Beat Goes On' to close the programme, which is available to watch on 4oD for the next six days.

Noel Gallagher To Announce Solo Plans This Wednesday

It has been quite a while since Robbie Williams and Oasis crossed swords.

But the Take That star gave his old sparring partner Noel Gallagher a big dig in the ribs on stage at Wembley last night.

He said: "The Rolling Stones played two nights at Wembley.

"Oasis played three. Take That - eight.

"Mick Jagger can lick Gary Barlows's face.

"And Noel Gallagher can lick my a***."

Noel is due to hold a press conference on Wednesday to announce all the details of his eagerly awaited solo career.

So that gives him five days to prepare a volley in response.

It's beginning to look like '98 all over again.

Liam Gallagher Once Woke Up In Bed With Steve Coogan

Rock wildman Liam Gallagher has confessed he's quit booze after 20 years on the sauce - and been sober for six months.

And the 38-year-old - who hit fame singing Oasis hits like Champagne Supernova and Cigarettes & Alcohol - reckons being on the wagon has improved his voice.

He says it has made it softer and more mellow on his new Beady Eye tracks.

Liam said: "If I have a drink, I'll be on the Christmas special. I haven't had a drink since New Year's Eve. I'm having a bit of a break. I went 20 years drinking and messing about. It's rubbish.

"At Knebworth I thought we were doing one night and we were doing two. I got that mashed on the first I woke up to a knock on the door and thought I was at home. I forgot all about it. But I had to go and do it again. That was heavy."

But despite the lifestyle change Liam, who says his new favourite tipple is ginger ale, still hasn't ended his feud with older brother and ex-bandmate Noel.

He admitted the rift is so deep he wasn't even invited to Noel's wedding to Sara McDonald last month.

Liam said: "I wouldn't have gone anyway. I was busy. If I had I'd have had a drink and it would have gone pear-shaped. It would've been like Dynasty."

In his 1990s heyday, Liam's drinking was so bad he once woke up in bed with Alan Partridge star Steve Coogan, who yelled out his "Ah-Ha!" catchphrase.

Liam tells Alan Carr: Chatty Man - tonight at 10 on Channel 4: "I woke up next to Coogan. Nothing happened though."

On This Day In Oasis History...

Heathen Chemistry is the fifth studio album by English rock band Oasis, first released on July 1st 2002. It sold over 1 million copies in the UK, ending up in the top ten best selling albums of 2002, and about 4 million worldwide as of 2005.

Heathen Chemistry was received more warmly than the previous Oasis album, Standing on the Shoulder of Giants, by both fans and critics alike. It spawned four singles, each of which made the top three in the UK charts: "The Hindu Times", their sixth number one single in the UK, "Stop Crying Your Heart Out", a song made famous as it was played on the BBC when the English football team were knocked out of the World Cup, the Double A-Side, sung by Noel — "Little By Little/She Is Love" — and "Songbird", the first single written by Liam.

This album was the last one to feature the band's longtime drummer, Alan White, who left in early 2004, with Noel Gallagher claiming White's commitment to the band wasn't up to scratch. He was effectively replaced with Ringo Starr's son, Zak Starkey.

Album History

The title of the album, according to Noel, came from a t-shirt he bought in Ibiza which featured a logo reading, "The Society of Heathen Chemists". Similarly, the name of the first single, "The Hindu Times", originated from a logo on a t-shirt that read the same thing, which Noel saw during a photo shoot for GQ's 100 Greatest Guitarists edition. The name was given to the track when it was just an instrumental, as all the instrumentals of this album were given actual titles as opposed to "Instrumental 1", etc., and the name stuck once the track was finished.

The album was recorded during 2001–early 2002, and was the first studio album written and recorded with the two new members, bassist Andy Bell and rhythm guitarist Gem Archer. Bell and Archer wrote one track each, and Liam Gallagher contributed three, thus the album signalled the end of Noel Gallagher songs dominating Oasis albums (though Liam had contributed "Little James" to Standing on the Shoulder of Giants).

The release of the album was overshadowed by an internet leak of all 11 tracks almost three months prior to release. However, listeners of the commercially released album heard slight differences to two tracks, "Little By Little" and "Better Man".

10 Essentials: Liam Gallagher

It comes as no surprise that the notoriously cantankerous former Oasis frontman has opinions. Here are some of his favorite—and least favorite—things in life

You've heard a lot from Liam Gallagher over the past couple decades. He has a thing for words. Choice ones. Specifically about things he doesn't care for. So, since he has more going on now than since the days of "Wonderwall" (his new Noel-less band Beady Eye; a new single and video, "Roller"; and his own clothing line, Pretty Green, which is now available in the U.S.) we were curious what he actually likes. We asked him and got 10 things. Plus, three things he loathes. And, for good measure, 14 instances of the word "fuck." So proceed with caution, ye of Puritan minds.

1. My Favorite TV Shows

"I love 'Judge Judy.' And, fucking, who's the black guy with the bald head? Montel. My wife and I love that shit. Also, I like that 'Celebrity Rehab' you have in America, too. I was watching it on TV and then I went out the night after to this Marilyn Manson gig, and that guy from Grease with the walking stick—what's his fucking name? He died a couple weeks ago? [Jeff Conaway.] He was there and asked me if I wanted a line. I'm like 'What the fuck? You're meant to be in fucking rehab.'"

2. Central Park

"New York is my favorite city in the world. I don't make it downtown much but I love Central Park. I've got to be by trees, otherwise I get claustrophobic. The people there—they don't take no crap either. Reminds myself a bit of me, so I like it."

3. Ginger Ale

"These days, I'm sticking to ginger ale. I'm having a bit of a time off from drinking. I haven't had anything since New Year's Eve. I'm just having a breather. I've been drinking for 25 years, man. When I do go out though, I drink absolutely fucking everything."

4. Quadrophenia

"I'm fucking obsessed with Quadrophenia. It gets me right off. I love that ballroom scene where he jumps off the balcony."

5. Levi's 504s

"I don't like jeans with holes in 'em. I like 'em faded. Levi's 504s never let me down. I like that they're a little tight in the butt, too."

6. The Beatles

"My favorite album would have to be something from The Beatles. Fucking Abbey Road? A Hard Day's Night! John Lennon's Imagine. I like everything they've done."

7. The Black Cat at Lake Como

"I take holiday at Lake Como a lot. Pretty expensive, but beautiful. If you go up there in the mountains there's a restaurant called The Black Cat. It's outside, on a cliff, and you look over the fucking lake. The food's the bollocks. It's amazing."

8. Garrett Leight sunglasses

"I like Lennon-style sunglasses. I got these in Barneys the other day. I need some proper lenses in these motherfuckers though. I've lived without them for so long though, so, actually, fuck it."

9. Style Hero: Paul Weller

"There's no one I want to be, but Paul Weller of The Jam has always looked so cool. My label, Pretty Green, is a reference to one of his songs. He did a Paul Weller for Pretty Green collection for Summer 2011, too."

10. Gibson Guitars

I don't like posh guitars. I don't like them Martins even. They're a bit too smooth and polite for me. I like guitars that are fucking loud. I've got a Gibson 1962 Hummingbird, which is a bit beat up. It's probably my favorite.

And now we bring you three entirely unessential things...

1. Muse

"Muse fucking scares me. They're like fucking creepy shit. But people like 'em. They at least play guitars, but when I hear his voice I'm like, 'Ah, fuck him.'"

2. Technology

"I don't use gadgets. Like, people do all this shit on their phones. I just use it to ring my Mrs. and mates. Never sent an e-mail in me life. I've got no apps. I don't even know how to download music."

3. Umbrellas

[After being asked by a doorman if he would like an umbrella in the rain during the interview:] "An umbrella? I only use those to stick up people's asses."

Liam Gallagher Slams Muse And, Surprisingly, Umbrellas

It's good news for denim giant Levi's, the Fab Four and the owners of the Black Cat restaurant near Lake Como, Italy. Muse and manufacturers of umbrellas, however, will have less to cheer about.

In an interview with the US edition of men's style mag GQ, Liam Gallagher -- ex of Oasis, currently of Beady Eye -- listed his 10 essentials, including props for New York's Central Park and ginger ale.

But he was less welcoming of technological gadgets in general, and the histrionic vocals of operatic rockers Muse's singer Matt Bellamy, in particular.

On the Beatles, Gallagher said, "My favorite album would have to be something from the Beatles. F---ing 'Abbey Road?' 'A Hard Day's Night!' John Lennon's 'Imagine.' I like everything they've done."

With the former hell-raiser off the sauce since the beginning of the year, the merits of ginger ale were highlighted, as well as former Jam lynchpin and Britpop '"Modfather" Paul Weller. "There's no one I want to be, but Paul Weller of the Jam has always looked so cool. My label, Pretty Green, is a reference to one of his songs. He did a Paul Weller for Pretty Green collection for Summer 2011, too."

But as for Muse? "Muse f---ing scares me. They're like f---ing creepy shit. But people like 'em. They at least play guitars, but when I hear his voice I'm like, 'Ah, f--- him.'"

At least Muse don't suffer alone; Gallagher had this to say about umbrellas. "An umbrella? I only use those to stick up people's asses." Charmer.
