Noel Gallagher On Tracks From His New Album, A Unfinished Song And More

Noel Gallagher has spoken to The Sunday Times about his new album 'Who Built the Moon?' that is released on November 24th, it's been reported by them that the album is packed with huge choruses and generic sentiments.

And that there are nods to Primal Scream, Doves and Chemical Brothers.

He said his wife Sara, who is “not into guitar music”, was the real test. “If I’m making music, she’ll say, ‘That’s nice.’ But I was playing something new when she burst in to say, ‘It’s amazing!’ I went, ‘Now we’re on to something.’”

As previously reported the opening track of the album, 'Fort Knox', was written imagining that Kanye West was about to put a rap over it.

While It’s a Beautiful World has a bit of French in which a women says something that translates as: “Rest in peace/It’s only the end of the world. The thing is, nobody in the studio spoke French, and they didn’t think to ask what had been said until the lyric sheets were printed. “But then France is a pretty volatile place at the minute”.

“There was a track we didn’t finish that was drawn out of the Paris attacks. And the Nice ones. We were working on it around Brexit, too, and not that I give a shit about that, but, symbolically, we abandoned the French at the time they were under attack. I felt bad for the French.”

“There was a bit on the news after the attacks, about something we put up in space, and it was so fantastic, what humankind had done. The very next day in the news, some shithead who used to work in Lidl was throwing gay men off a roof in Raqqa, and it’s, like, ‘You scumbag.’ The rest of us are discovering the cosmos and you medieval f*****s are throwing gay people. And he used to work in Lidl? In Bury? F****** c***. It’s all going to come out in that song.”

“Well, everything pre-international terrorism was a bit flowery to me,” he replies. “And what annoys me most is you see the mayor [of London] saying, ‘We will not be cowed.’” Gallagher says there’s nothing wrong with being afraid. “I get on the Tube. My eldest is 17. She uses the Tube. My boys are growing up in London and use public transport. I’m frightened.

“Are you going to walk into an attack and die? Or survive with half an arm? Are your kids going to walk into it on a night out? I’m not buying Khan and his ‘London will stand firm’. I live in the centre and it concerns the f*** out of me.”

Noel Gallagher Says Morrissey Is ‘The Funniest Guy Ever’

Noel Gallagher has praised Morrissey as ‘the funniest guy ever’ – after the pair shared a night out together and The Smiths legend took a shine to his wife.

Today saw Gallagher announce his return with his upcoming new High Flying Birds Album ‘Who Built The Moon?’, along with details of a huge UK and Ireland arena tour. To mark the occasion, the Oasis turned solo star gave an interview with Christian O’Connell on the Absolute Radio Breakfast Show this morning – where he revealed details of his evening with Moz and wife Sara MacDonald.

“I love that guy, he’s unbelievable,” said Gallagher. “I had a night out with him a few years back in LA, and he was just, he kills me, he was just the funniest guy ever.

“I bumped into him in a hotel and me and Sara were out one night. We were sat in a different bar, and I went to the toilet.  And I said ‘Oh can I get my wife to come and meet you?’  He went ‘Oh I don’t know, is she nice?’  And I said ‘Yeah, she’s gorgeous’.

“She came and he kind of looked at her and he went ‘ooh’. I was like ‘Wow, what a dude’.  Yeah he’s unbelievable, funny.”

Highlights From Noel Gallagher's Q&A At Glastonbury

Noel Gallagher has been speaking at Glastonbury 2017 this evening (June 23) while introducing Supersonic, a documentary about Oasis.

He was interviewed by a host from the Guardian newspaper before the film was screened at Williams Green at Worthy Farm.

Brother Liam will perform on the Other Stage on Saturday (June 24) and Noel was asked about continuing rumours of an Oasis reunion.

Find out what we learnt about a possible Oasis surprise at Glastonbury 2017 and much more below.

1 – Anyone could be Noel Gallagher

Or so he claims!

“I wasn’t born with a gift. Being a musician happened by chance. Anybody could do what I do.”

But he did add when he played his first ever note “a light bulb came on” in his head.

2 – Oasis could only have happened in Manchester

He said the success of the band which he and brother Liam made famous was all down to the climate.

“When you’re indoors all the time you’re watching football, you’re taking drugs or making music.”

He also said bands from Manchester’s past inspired him.

3 – He was left speechless by people singing Don’t Look Back in Anger after the Manchester attack

“I’ve got to say I was sat at home watching the minute’s silence when the crowd spontaneously broke into Don’t Look Back in Anger.

“For the first time in my life I was f***ing speechless.”

4 – He still doesn’t know what the song is about

Don’t Look Back in Anger was written in Paris, while Noel was drunk, he said.

5 – The Sally confusion continues

There’s been much debate about how Sally made her way into the song and who she even is.

Some said Liam came up with it to make the song work better.

But at Glastonbury Noel said Liam told him it was actually Noel’s idea, though Noel himself doesn’t remember.

He said: “Who the f***ing hell is Sally?”

6 – Noel’s a bit spiritual

Despite saying he had no exceptional musical talent, Noel suggested the songs which have really succeeded from Oasis’s back catalogue came from a place which wasn’t his head.

He said: “All of the songs which have gone down 3/4 generations don't come from me

“They come from somewhere else.

“I seem to have a way of putting universal truths very simply.”

7 – He’s not a romantic

“I’m not an overly romantic person, as my wife will testify.”

Poor woman! She did get a lot of love from the crowd though.

8 – He and his wife come to Glastonbury every year

Noel insisted he doesn’t always travel around in 4x4s either, when asked by the Guardian’s Q&A host.

9 – He thinks Glastonbury is simply the best thing around

“This f***ing festival is the greatest gathering of people on the f***ing planet. All the other festivals are just gigs in fields.”

Strong praise for Somerset’s world famous gathering.

10 – Oasis might have ruined all the fun for musicians these days

Asked about the band’s antics with drugs and sex, captured in the Supersonic documentary, Noel said the fun in his day might have resulted in a more controlled atmosphere now.

He singled out One Direction star Harry Styles, now trying to go solo, to illustrate his point.

“Harry Styles ain't going to get caught snorting coke off a prostitute.”

11 – The Oasis reunion wasn’t ruled out – it could still happen at Glastonbury 2017!

He was asked about the future and his ‘next’ project.

The crowd at Williams Green chanted ‘OASIS, OASIS’.

And the questioner pointed out two other members of the band are at Glastonbury this year.

In response, Noel said: “No comment. Enjoy the film!”

So it’s still unlikely, but there remains a slim chance of a shocking Oasis reunion at Glastonbury 2017.

Noel Gallagher Is Having A Cocaine Themed 50th Birthday Bash

He's had plenty of wild times thanks to his time in Oasis and being one of the Primrose Hill set originals.

But, it would seem that Noel Gallagher hasn't lost his lust for life as his 50th birthday looms, as the former Oasis rocker is hosting a Narcos inspired birthday bash.

Revealing the theme on her Instagram account, the 49-year-old High Flying Birds frontman's wife Sara MacDonald shared an Instagram story with her followers that revealed the theme - showing Noel in a mock-up of the show's poster.

Showcasing the invite to her husband's half-century celebration, the glamorous PR guru revealed that Noel's quite the fan of the show - which in its two series has recounted the true-life tale of Pablo Escobar and the US agents who hunted him down.

Featuring the rocker stood in a pose that mimics the show's own promotional images, Noel is snapped in a cloud of smoke with white powder flying around him.

Titled "NG'S 50th", the card also features the show's tagline, "There's no business like blow business," at the top.

Waggling the card back and forth, Noel's image disappears and is replaced with that of Wagner Moura's Pablo Escobar.

Noel Gallagher's Mum Will Be Guest Of Honour When He Supports U2 In Croke Park

Noel Gallagher will have a very special guest at his upcoming support slot to U2 in Croke Park – his mother Peggy.

The former Oasis star is determined to bring his Mayo-born mother back to Ireland to see him perform at Croker this summer.

A showbiz source revealed: “Noel is planning on bringing Peggy over with his wife Sara, daughter Anais and two sons, Donovan and Sonny.

“He knows it will be a special night supporting U2 in Croke Park and doesn’t want his mum to miss it.

“Peggy loves coming back from Manchester so it’s a perfect opportunity for her to take a trip home.”

Peggy made an appearance in the recent Oasis documentary Supersonic and spoke out about the strained relationship between her world-famous sons.

“I think there was that bit of jealously with Liam and Noel,” she said. “Noel was beautiful as a baby and then Liam comes along – it takes the limelight off you.

“You could tell disagreement was there with them. I was glad they were in a band together. I would not have wanted Liam in a band without Noel.

“But it all happened too quick.”

Peggy, 74, also recalled the day Liam came back with a recording contract. “Of course, I thought ‘this is great’,” she said.

“I never really thought it would go the way it did, though. Liam said: ‘All I want, mum, is to earn a bit of money and get myself some new clothes’. And then it all went haywire.”

Noel will take to the stage on July 8th in Croke Park ahead of U2 on their sold out Joshua Tree tour.

The singer is close pals with Bono and he and wife Sara holidayed with the Hewson family at Eze in the South of France last summer.

Meanwhile, Noel is spending this weekend celebrating his 50th birthday part in New York. And stunning Sara had one hell of a surprise for him when she arranged a private meeting with his hero Gerry Seinfeld while in the city.

Sara posted a picture of a happy looking Noel with the comedian, before later that night posting an image of him at dinner sitting between Sienna Miller and Helena Christensen with the hashtag #ifCarlsbergmadewives.

Noel turns 50 on May 29th.

Noel Gallagher On Liam, Robert De Niro, Jack Nicholson, Donald Trump And More

Robert De Niro still doesn’t know who Noel Gallagher is – even after they shared an eight hour lunch date.

The Hollywood legend, 73, and ex-Oasis man enjoyed a bottle of wine – or three – together in the south of France.

But despite being a big music fan, Bob did not make Manchester’s finest an offer he couldn’t refuse.

Noel, 49, revealed: “I sat next to him and I’ve got to say he didn’t have a clue who I was.

“We had this lunch that started at one o’clock in the afternoon... and he left at about eight or nine. He was there for about eight hours.”

Even after their marathon meal break, the Taxi Driver star seemed a little miffed why Noel was famous.

The rocker explained: “As he was leaving, he said, ‘Write down the name of that band again that you were in.’

“If I ever have the pleasure of meeting him again, he’ll just go, ‘I’ve never met this guy’.”

Sounds like the well-oiled Supersonic star was not in a much better state himself.

Noel said: “We’re all huge fans of him and his films and I was bombarding him – stuff like how did you make Raging Bull, how did that come to be in the film and where do you get the inspiration for your parts?

“All that kind of thing – I have no idea what he said!” Even so, fanboy Noel loved his De Niro experience.

Noel, who performed with his band High Flying Birds at Brixton Academy last night, added: “He did the De Niro face when he was slagging off Donald Trump.

“I nearly had a tear in my eye when he was doing it. “The day after I was saying to (my wife) Sara, ‘I think the only thing that could top that would be going on a bender with Jack Nicholson, that’s it really.”

The guitarist recently joined Instagram to share his picture with De Niro.

Now he is considering venturing deeper into the world of social media and getting a Twitter account, as he thinks it would give him an outlet to have a global rant.

It would also offer him a platform to respond to his brother Liam Gallagher’s cheeky tweets, which refer to him as a potato.

Noel said: “Liam sits at home in a rocking chair Googling my name thinking of witty tweets.”
