The Stone Roses gigs were a special moment for another homecoming hero – in the swaggering form of Liam Gallagher and his band Beady Eye.

Beady Eye played a barnstorming set on Saturday night ahead of the Roses taking to the stage at Heaton Park.

And Burnage boy Liam delighted Oasis fans by covering two of his former band's songs for the first time with Beady Eye, What's The Story (Morning Glory) and Rock 'n' Roll Star which he promptly dedicated to Ian Brown.

The band also treated the crowds to new Liam-penned song World Not Set In Stone - a song title not unlike something we'd expect from the Stone Roses themselves, we reckon!

Needless to say, Liam signed off the set with typically colourful language, shouting out to the crowds: “You are about to see the best ****ing band in the world, you don't know how lucky you are.”

Liam was later pictured backstage with his wife, former pop star Nicole Appleton, and TV presenter Holly Willoughby, enjoying the Stone Roses gig.

Liam had earlier told Elizabeth Alker in an interview for BBC6 Music that he'd felt "relaxed" about the gig and that he'd even have played support for the Roses if Oasis were still together.

He said: "I'd always had my fingers crossed, I'd have even done it with Oasis, I'm not one of those people who'd say "Im not supporting you cause we're as big as you" or whatever. Life's too short you've got to drop your guard and just have a good time, it doesn't matter who is headlining.

As long as it's happening it's great, I'm dead happy." He revealed Beady Eye's new album is "going great" and he said he hopes that both Beady Eye and the Stone Roses will both release new albums next year. "That'd be nice," he said.

Oasis Founding Member Bonehead New Band Is Called 'Parlour Flames'

The new Parlour Flames website [that's the name of the Vinny/Bonehead project, in case you'd missed it] is in the making as we speak. Domain names have been secured so in not too long from now we'll be tweeting and bleating along with the rest of them. I'll update eveyone as soon as.The struggle we had with names was in keeping with the world today, practically every name taken on myspace and such. The name Parlour Flames seemed to sit nicely with us, the old school front room, where the sparks of creativity begin, that kind of thing. Looking forward to finishing the album, it should be done and dusted end of this month. Not sure who will be putting it out yet but I doubt it'll be Shadrack and Duxbury, they say they are having second thoughts about he music business...plastic coffins, now there's an idea?

Yes comrades.

So, the festival in Oslo was a bit weird. It took place at a ski-jumping . . . thing (not sure what the correct term is) . . . at the top of a mountain. Freezing cold and in thick fog. A bit miserable. That bird Rhianna was headlining. I'm told she had an entourage of 100 people!!! ONE HUNDRED!!!!! I've got (a quite pathetic) 11.

Not sure the young 'uns down the front appreciated a bit of the old rock 'n' folk. They didn't look too happy anyway. All that being said it was ANOTHER great gig! What's that now? 5 in a row? The record books are being ripped up here!

Back down the hill in the town there was what seemed like another festival of sorts going on in the park in the main square. A free one I think. I could hear it from my room. A bit cabaret. It sounded like a load of local bands doing covers. All good clean fun.

Anyway . . . after going for what was quite frankly the most APPALLING Chinese I think I've ever had I tried to get my head down. The town was a bit rowdy though. I think the free festival thing must've had a late licence. Funny thing is . . . at about 2am I was woken by the noise coming from the park. Over the PA and as clear as night I could hear someone doing an acoustic cover of "Don't Look Back In Anger"!!!! I kid you not (the bastards murdered it by the way!).

On This Day In Oasis History...

Heathen Chemistry is the fifth studio album by English rock band Oasis, first released on July 1st 2002. It sold over 1 million copies in the UK, ending up in the top ten best selling albums of 2002, and about 4 million worldwide as of 2005.

Heathen Chemistry was received more warmly than the previous Oasis album, Standing on the Shoulder of Giants, by both fans and critics alike. It spawned four singles, each of which made the top three in the UK charts: "The Hindu Times", their sixth number one single in the UK, "Stop Crying Your Heart Out", a song made famous as it was played on the BBC when the English football team were knocked out of the World Cup, the Double A-Side, sung by Noel — "Little By Little/She Is Love" — and "Songbird", the first single written by Liam.

This album was the last one to feature the band's longtime drummer, Alan White, who left in early 2004, with Noel Gallagher claiming White's commitment to the band wasn't up to scratch. He was effectively replaced with Ringo Starr's son, Zak Starkey.



















Album History

The title of the album, according to Noel, came from a t-shirt he bought in Ibiza which featured a logo reading, "The Society of Heathen Chemists". Similarly, the name of the first single, "The Hindu Times", originated from a logo on a t-shirt that read the same thing, which Noel saw during a photo shoot for GQ's 100 Greatest Guitarists edition. The name was given to the track when it was just an instrumental, as all the instrumentals of this album were given actual titles as opposed to "Instrumental 1", etc., and the name stuck once the track was finished.

The album was recorded during 2001–early 2002, and was the first studio album written and recorded with the two new members, bassist Andy Bell and rhythm guitarist Gem Archer. Bell and Archer wrote one track each, and Liam Gallagher contributed three, thus the album signalled the end of Noel Gallagher songs dominating Oasis albums (though Liam had contributed "Little James" to Standing on the Shoulder of Giants).

The release of the album was overshadowed by an internet leak of all 11 tracks almost three months prior to release. However, listeners of the commercially released album heard slight differences to two tracks, "Little By Little" and "Better Man".

- No, not really, hahah! I don´t know! Every concert that one does is different from the other, but I`m sure it will be great! And, I`m playing all my own songs. Songs that I wrote all by myself...Alone...In my bedroom, hehe

So, your fans know that you´re an EAGER football fan, and of course your heart is with Manchester City... One fan said that you got the chance to do an interview with Mario Balotelli once... She´s wondering how it was?

- It was great! It was a little bit challenging though. He doesn´t speak English very well, and I don´t spean any Italian, but he is F*cking GREAT! I F*cking LOVE him!...He plays "gangster football"!

Do you think he´ll stay in shape for Manchester City as well?

- Oh, Yeah! I hope....
