Parlour Flames On Forming, Touring And More

Parlour Flames is the new band from Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthur’s and Manc singer song-writer/poet Vinny Peculiar, and after what started out as an EP the duo decided to take it all the way by putting an album together which is due out early next year.

An interesting pairing that sees the ex-Oasis rhythm man delve into a wide collection of influences, sounds and arrangements backed to the beautiful tones and humorous writing of Peculiar, very interesting proposition indeed.

So LTW hooked up with Vinny and Bonehead to ask how Parlour Flames came about and putting the album together…

LTW: So how did you and Bonehead come together then Vinny?

Vinny: It goes back to an earlier Vinny Peculiar album ‘the fall and rise of Vinny Peculiar from 2006, Mike Joyce was in the band and a friend of Boneheads so we met through him.

Bonehead also played with the Vinny Peculiar band on some European dates in 2007, we always said it would be interesting to work together, and here we are…

LTW: And the name, Parlour Flames, sounds kinda vaudeville, where did that come from?

Bonehead: Well, it was a bit difficult trying to find a name, two or three words that sounded right. So we were thinking for ages and had a list of them but it was Vinny who came up with ‘Parlour Flames’. We got it down on paper and it looked good and sounded good as well, you know so we had it.

Vinny: I liked the idea of the the Parlour as an old school performance space, from a simpler more direct age, the flames in the hearth, the family gathered round, the lava lamps on the piano… like Bonehead said we had a few names but whenever we half liked something it was taken. It’s all worked out OK though, the reaction to the name has been pretty positive, we’re happy with it…

LTW: Where would you both say you meet musically, what are the groups and artist your both into?

Vinny: My favourite groups are XTC, Be Bop Deluxe, Talking Heads, Simon And Garfunkel, Bowie, Joni Mitchell, The Auteurs, the church is broad, – I also love a good hymn and a choir…

Bonehead: I think were both quite varied really in our on tastes but we also share a lot as well I mean, I’ll listen to stuff some people probably never heard of, I listen to classical music as well and when you listen to the album you can hear all these different influences like with the cello’s and piano’s on on there. Our respective influences sit well together, my playing and his lyrics I feel like were onto a winner.

Liam Gallagher Leaves George Michael Concert After 23 Minutes

Liam Gallagher is a man that knows what he likes and what drives him up the Wonderwall.

The Oasis front man clearly didn't have any Faith in George Michael as he up and left the singer's concert after just 23 minutes.

Liam, 40, was seen attending the Symphonica concert at Earls Court, in London, on Saturday night, but got up and left shortly after George began to perform.

Strangely, Liam was on the night out with a group of women including his wife Nicole Appleton, actress Tamzin Outhwaite and television presenter Kate Thornton.

However, the screaming girls teamed with an exuberant George was too much for Liam and he made a quick exit with band mate Andy Bell.

The two musicians didn't leave the girls stranded, however, and they just parked up in the bar and drank some beers.

An onlooker told the Daily Mirror: 'The gig started at 8.15pm and as the lights went down, Liam and Nicole arrived and quickly hugged Tamzin and co in their area.

'The girls all seemed in great spirits and were dancing around straight away, absolutely loving it.'

The source added: 'But Liam didn’t seem particularly excited about the four chaps mincing along in front of him, trying to make eye contact and wink. He was stony-faced throughout.'

While the rock star enjoyed the rest of the concert from the bar area his wife had a great time with her girl friends.

Tamzin posted a picture of the gang on Twitter and said: 'That was one of my fave nights EVER!! George Michael you are a GOD!!!'

Noel Gallagher Thinks He Is ''Better Off'' Not Speaking To His Brother Liam

Noel Gallagher thinks he is ''better off'' not speaking to his brother Liam.

The feuding siblings have had little contact since the guitarist quit Oasis in August 2009 and the 'AKA...What A Life' hitmaker insists there is no chance of repairing their relationship after the Beady Eye frontman tried to sue him when he claimed they pulled out of a gig because Liam was hungover.

He said: ''Once someone sends you a f***ing lawyer's letter accusing you of - what was it? It was solaughable, I didn't respond to it, until I had to, by law. He was accusing me of 'destroying' his brand. If such a thing exists, then f***ing hell, what's the world coming to?

''So now, I don't speak to him. The last time I saw him was at a party after the Olympics, and as usual he hurled some insult at me and off he went. I'm better off not speaking to him.''

Noel was asked to be a part of the London 2012 opening ceremony, but decided not to be involved, though he insists he doesn't mind the fact Liam and Beady Eye stepped in to perform the segment he had initially been offered.

He said: ''I'm afraid I didn't make Team GB in the end. The whole thing was choreographed and they asked me to do 'Wonderwall' acoustically. I mulled it over and then they said, 'You can't do it live?' Why not? 'Well, it's a big gig.'

''Finally, I said, 'You know what, I'd rather watch it on the telly.' But they'd got so far down the line with choreographing 'Wonderwall' in that, I was like, 'Fine, get someone else to do it, just not the f***ing Kaiser Chiefs...' So they went to Liam's lot and I was absolutely fine with it. Not arsed.''

From Noel Gallagher's 'Tales From The Middle Of Nowhere' tour diary.

Yes comrades . . . so that's it for now.

Got nine whole days off!!

Last few gigs were as you might imagine pretty good. Lille? That was pretty good. Lyon? That was pretty good. And Toulouse? That was pretty good too!!

Need a rest and a hair cut now before I head off to the USA. I've got about 12 gigs there and one last blowout in London. I can see the finishing line and it's looking good I must say.

To those who have followed me for the last couple of weeks I would like to say thank you. Also a little shout out to the brilliant Jake Bugg (with 2 ‘g's!). His album's out next week. You should give it a listen.

ONWARDS.

GD.
