Liam Gallagher Blasts Noel On Twitter

They are frequently slinging insults back and forth.

This time, however, fans of the Oasis brothers may be surprised to know that the siblings' latest exchange is about chart-topping boyband One Direction.

On Thursday Liam Gallagher told his brother Noel to leave the '1D kids alone' after he branded Zayn Malik a 'f***ing idiot' for quitting the pop group.

The 42-year-old rocker has taken to Twitter to defend Zayn following his older sibling's mocking tirade in Rolling Stone magazine about his desire to walk away from One Direction to be a 'normal 22 year old'.

During a new interview for Rolling Stone, the High Flying Birds frontman suggested that Zayn’s best bet would be to ‘get a good accountant because life is very f****** long’.

‘You want to be a normal 22-year-old? Have you met any normal 22-year-olds? They’re f****** s**t for brains.’ He added: ‘The greatest quote – I laughed out loud when I read it – “I just want to be a normal 22-year-old.’ Who wants to be a normal 22-year-old?”

But Liam has now blasted Noel, 47, by making a series of puns based on the Pink Floyd song 'Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2)'.

In several tweets, he wrote: 'Hey NG leave those 1d kids alone LG x ... Just coz you have a SAXAPHONE on your new record and you think your all Pink Floyd LG x

'Everybody knows your just another Pr**k in the wall LG x (sic)'.

The public exchange is just the latest verbal fight between the pair - and comes just days after Liam also addressed Noel's assessment of the Oasis reunion "agreement" rumour, in which he claimed it was his girlfriend Debbie Gwyther who had started it.

Noel told Rolling Stone: "There was a rumour last week that we've had a gentleman's agreement [to reform the band], but that rumour's come from his people. It's a 'source close to him', and I'll tell you how close it is - she probably wakes up with him every morning.

'It's always left to me in an interview to let the kids down. People say, 'You're breaking these kids' hearts.' Well, what the f**k, man?"

Liam has now tweeted in response: 'Re oasis rumours you know I don't bum the press never had never will you know where I am if you need me LG x (sic)'.

Shortly followed by: 'Me and my adorable close source are living the vida Loca in the SHUNSINE LG x (sic)'. Liam also posted a more cryptic tweet, which read: "While ive been hybernating Ive been gathering my Wings LG x (sic)'.

Formed in 1991, Oasis' first LP Definitely Maybe at the time became the fastest selling debut album in the UK and set the wheels in motion for a number of hits including Don't Look Back In Anger.

However as the band grew more popular, tension between the two brother began to mount and the pair often clashed while on the road.

In 2009 after an altercation with Liam which resulted in one of his guitars being destroyed Noel quit.

In a statement, he wrote in a statement: 'It is with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight.'

He added: 'People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.'

Amorphous Androgynous On Noel Gallagher: ‘He Was Too Afraid To Be Weird’

Their collaboration was meant to radically change the Oasis man’s sound. But only a couple of their tracks appeared on his album Chasing Yesterday, and the rest may ‘never see the light of day’. AA’s Garry Cobain gives his side of the story.

We first began talking about working with Noel on a solo album years ago. We had remixed the 2009 Oasis single Falling Down and turned it into a 22-minute odyssey, which he loved, and then he invited me to DJ at the afterparty for one of Oasis’s Wembley Arena gigs that October. That’s when we began talking about a solo record.

It started out promisingly. When Noel first came round to my house with a bunch of demos, he was strangely subdued and insecure. Oasis were past their sell-by date. I saw a guy with a guitar who needed something exciting. We were all over the press with our new vision of psychedelia and he leaned very heavily on us. He went into it with all the right intentions.

Between 2009 and 2011, I was obsessed with Noel Gallagher. During that period, we spent four weeks in the studio with him. The rest of the time it was just Brian [Dougans, the other half of AA] and me, in control of the budgets, all the music and the musicians. We got in Gary Lucas from Captain Beefheart’s Magic Band and Virgil Howe, son of Steve Howe of Yes, to give an idea of how far-out we were going.

The first day, a lorry arrived with 87 guitars and 200 effects pedals, and I looked at Brian and said: “Wow, this is gonna be fun!” And yet within a week there were reports that Noel was considering dropping the album because we’d asked him to play the same guitar solo for five hours. Actually, all that happened was I thought he’d like to experiment with an idea we had, but after 30 minutes he was lost and angry that we weren’t telling him exactly what to do. We assumed he would want to let loose – after all, George Harrison spent 12 hours doing the backwards guitar solo for I’m Only Sleeping.

The studio wasn’t disharmonious, but I did have to work around his limitations and it quickly became apparent that rather than singing and playing differently, he wanted to do things exactly the same as ever as ever. He did the same vocal take five times. I said: “Imagine yourself as a voice actor.” He said: “Don’t ever fucking talk to me about being a voice actor!” I knew it wasn’t going to be easy.

We were just finishing off the mixing of the album when we were invited to the press conference on 6 July 2011. I watched it online. That’s when he announced that there would be two albums: the one that became High Flying Birds, and our one. High Flying Birds had the same running order as the album we’d been working on, even if the tracks themselves were a lot straighter. At the press conference you could see he felt trepidatious about High Flying Birds. He seemed more interested in ours. He said it would be an 18-track album ranging from vaudeville to “space jazz” to krautrock, and as out-there as The Dark Side of the Moon. That album is the holy grail to me, and I was embarrassed by these proclamations. They put me in a real quandary because there was no way, with respect, that his songs were anything like Dark Side.

It’s odd because Noel loves the Beatles, the masters of experimentation. But Oasis thought they just needed to sing lyrics of love – it was all surface and no depth. To me, psychedelia isn’t just tasteful songs about the sun and phased guitars; it’s a radical form.

In August 2012, Noel said he was considering scrapping the collaboration because he was not completely satisfied with the mixes – by that time only one of our tracks had come out, the B-side Shoot a Hole into the Sun. But this wouldn’t have been an album of remixes. It would have been his first solo album proper, under the name Noel Gallagher, possibly with “Amorphous Androgynous” in the title. It wouldn’t have been High Flying Birds.

Noel is loved by middle England. Would I turn his four-minute songs into prog-psych music? No, I was prepared to meet him halfway. My mandate was to do the most difficult thing: bring my psych and prog influences to bear on pop songs. It was never going to be as way out as Pink Floyd. But I did think I could make his songs as free as Cosmic Dancer by T Rex.

We tried to force him to write new material. But he dragged his heels and failed to stretch himself. Eventually, we came up with two new backing tracks for The Right Stuff and The Mexican to justify it being “like Pink Floyd”, the two songs that ended up on Chasing Yesterday. We spent six months on them. Now people are citing The Right Stuff as one of the best things he has done, and proof of how good he can be when he explores.

There’s not much colour on his two albums; it’s just the same old Noel. He has tried to send out this message that he’s pushed himself, but it’s just the same generic stuff. We had kids’ choirs, harpsichords, mandolins. We really went to town with orchestras and all sorts of crazy instrumentation. He just needed to cut the pie to suit Noel the solo artist – we left some excess pastry on it so he could trim a bit off.

I believe ours is the album people wanted him to make – a liberated, exploratory Noel Gallagher, cutting loose from Oasis, enjoying his freedom; the Noel who name-drops our Monstrous Bubble albums and krautrock, and who had hits with the Chemical Brothers. He obviously loves that kind of music, but has no idea how to make it.

We still talk. But he has been asked about our album a lot, and his rebuttal of it is a disgrace. It’s doing me a lot of damage. He became too afraid to be weird. But, still, when Noel is ready to collaborate, I’m here.

Noel Gallagher Blames Liam For Oasis Reunion Rumours

Noel Gallagher has reignited his war-of-words with his brother Liam, blaming him for constant rumours that Oasis will reform and accusing his girlfriend Debbie Gwyther of fuelling the speculation.

The two have barely spoken since Noel walked out of Oasis in 2009 following a furious backstage bust-up with his volatile brother, but it appeared Liam had offered an olive branch in March (15) when he seemed to have attended a gig by Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.

He posted a photo on Twitter.com showing himself with an 'all access' pass to the concert, alongside the message, "Keeping it in the family", and it sparked fresh speculation the brothers were heading for a reconciliation.

However, Noel has now spoken out to accuse Liam of misleading fans because the pass for the concert did not belong to him, and he even suggested Gwyther is behind the reunion rumours.

He tells Rolling Stone, "Well, it wasn't his pass. He wasn't there. It was my other brother's pass. If he had been at one of my gigs, you would've known about it because he'd have made his way onstage and started acting like a f**king gobs**te.

"He's being a bit disingenuous to Oasis fans in the sense that he always gets their hopes up. There was a rumour last week that we've had a gentleman's agreement (to reform Oasis), but that rumour's come from his people. It's a 'source close to him', and I'll tell you how close it is: She probably wakes up with him every morning. It's always left to me in an interview to let the kids down. People say, 'You're breaking these kids' hearts.' Well, what the f**k, man?"

Noel's comments provoked a swift response from Liam, who took to Twitter.com on Wednesday (06May15) to compare his estranged brother to controversial outspoken newspaper columnist Katie Hopkins, writing, "I see Noel Katie Hopkins Gallagher is talking out of his slack a**e again go and polish your SAXAPHONE Ha ha LGx."

Liam Gallagher Likens Brother Noel To Katie Hopkins

Liam Gallagher has taken to the Twittersphere to throw the latest punch at older brother Noel, likening him to controversial celebrity hatemongerer Katie Hopkins.

The frontman seems to be responding to Noel's recent interviews where he has denied rumours of the rival siblings coming to a gentlmen's agreement, which gave fans a hope in seeing Oasis reunite in the near future.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Noel suggested that the new swell of rumours were sparked by 'Liam's people' and that his younger Brother was being 'disingenuous' to Oasis fans: "it's always up to me to let the Kids down."

Liam's response via Twitter likened Noel to controversial and outspoken celebrity Katie Hopkins who gained fame on The Apprentice and I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here. The tweet read: I see Noel Katie Hopkins Gallagher is talking out of his slack arse again go and polish your SAXAPHONE Ha ha LGx

Oasis infamously split following years of heated arguments which peaked in 2009, Liam Gallagher formed the band Beady Eye which was disbanded last year. The chances of an Oasis reunion seemed to have been a possibility in recent weeks, however this latest spat has sunk hope of the legendary band forming yet again.

Meanwhile, Noel Gallagher will this summer headline Latitude Festival, Calling Festival and Summer In The City.

Noel Gallagher has penned some of the best-known rock songs of the last two decades — and although he doesn't mind playing Oasis classics like Don't Look Back In Anger, the straight-shooting songwriter isn't resting on his laurels.
