Noel Gallagher Thought His New Album 'Who Bulit The Moon?' Would End Up Getting Scrapped

Noel Gallagher has said he thought that his new High Flying Birds album with producer David Holmes would never see the light of day, and thought it would end up being scrapped like the planned album with Amorphous Androgynous or Oasis’s abandoned sessions with Death In Vegas.

Speaking to the the current issue of Q he said he only told producer David Holmes this much later.

He said “He was flabbergasted. He said that he never doubted from the first night that the record was going to be the way it was. That’s a proper producer. If you’d asked me that night if I thought I was capable of doing it, I’d have said no. I’ve got to take my hat off to David because he’s seen something in me that probably wasn’t even there.”

'Who Built The Moon? is released on November 24th.

Noel Gallagher Is Happy He Has The Freedom To Make Whatever Music He Wants

Noel Galagher has told the latest issue Q that he is happy he has the freedom to make whatever music he wants to on a "whim".

He said: "I'm not in a band any more so I don't have to sell it to anyone. I run my own record label, I pay for my records, I promote them, I market them, I do everything myself. If I have a whim, I'm going to do it.

"When you're solo, you can move quicker. Big rock bands are like huge tankers but I'm like a f***ing speedboat."

Liam Gallagher On Oasis, Bonehead Driving The Van, Drinking, Weed, Security Guards And More

Liam Gallagher has spoken about the rise of Oasis from the times Bonehead drove the Oasis tour van, sharing hotel rooms with band members to playing arenas and stadiums.

He told NME Gold "I cant remember anything about journalists being on the early tours. But those were the fucking days, man: when you don't really know if anyone gives a fuck or not. Bonehead driving the van, sharing rooms and shit, lots of drinking, lots of weed smoking, not so much of the other at that point. Just never-ending nights, d'you know what I mean? Just feeling invincible never really worrying about singing or any of that. I don't think I ever warmed up once. I'd just be sat backstage stoned and someone goes, 'Right you're on', and that would be it. Not that professional to be fair, which was good at that time. It's when you go into arenas that you start thinking, 'Fucking Hell. I've got to hold it down a bit.' it's a bit of an occasion then, when it's not just in a pub, and it seems like a lot of people have dressed up for it or whatever. It's like 'Fuck I better put this spliff out.' In them early days, didn't have any security guards either so it was just us lot in a van and the road crew."

He added "I remember getting the first security guard and thinking 'Fuck this. What's this all about?' I remember he came on because Noel got a whack at some gig, and then all of a sudden there they are. But he's stood by my side! I'm like 'Here y'are mate it wasn't me who got the dig! Go stand with him.' So then I had this big daft cunt who was always hanging about with me. Our kid would have a bit of freedom running off down the road, and I'd be stuck with the big idiot, just wherever I went. I'd be going 'I'm just to the shop', and he'd go 'I've been told I've got to come with you'. So that pissed me off a bit. I found that adjustment a bit weird. We'd have a little aftershow, and then just bowl out and have a laugh with the fans and all that. But when it got to arenas, I just stayed backstage because it got a bit intense. It was like everyone was in your face and it got a bit rabid. Early days, you could kind of sit about and have a beer with all the fans, and it was chilled. Then when it went massive, everyone was just on soon as you came offstage. I kind of stopped doing that stuff."

Liam Gallagher On Following Up 'As You Were', Rock 'N' Roll Angels And More

Liam Gallagher has said he hasn't got one song written to follow up on his debut album 'As You Were' , he told NME Gold that he's "fucking songless, which is beautiful".

He said "I haven't got one fucking song written, ready to go. Nish. They're all done, everything's laid out on the table, man. I am fucking songless, which is beautiful. I'm not going to sit there, think about it and go, (does worried voice) 'Fucking hell,' because I was songless two years ago, then all of a sudden they just fucking came."

He added "I'm not one of them, like, that is going to sit there and drive myself mad. Fuck the next album. This is the one album., see how it fucking goes and just fucking believe in the universe. Believe in rock 'n' roll angels man - be good to them and they'll be good to you and that hippy bollocks.  I believe in it. Songs are little miracles, man. I don't care what anyone fucking says. And it happened, so I truly believe it might happen again. And if it doesn't it doesn't."

Liam Gallagher On How He Was "Gutted" When George Michael Died

Liam Gallagher has spoken to 'NME: Gold Liam Gallagher' about George Michael.

He said "I met him a few times, and every time I met him he was a top gent. He stared coming to a few Oasis gigs early on, and then I met him at the Olympics, went back to his house for a party a few times. I'd just done a thing about him - they got this documentary coming out on 'Listen Without Prejudice' - and there's that song 'Praying For Time' and I always used to go up to him and go 'that tune man...'So they wanted me to go round his house and chat about it. So I go round, and he's not there, and there filming me going on about that song, and what I liked about it. And then two weeks later he's fucking dead. I weren't his best mate or anything, but I was gutted when he died."
