Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich asked Noel Gallagher to sing at his wedding.
The heavy metal icon is a huge Oasis fan and became firm friends with the 'Wonderwall' hitmaker after they met in the mid-90s.
Lars, 52, was desperate for Noel to serenade him and model Jessica Miller when they tied the knot but the 48-year-old musician refused to be a wedding singer for one night.
Speaking as he hosted a special show for Absolute Radio - which can be listened to at Absoluteradio.co.uk - Noel said: "Lars is great you see. He's a huge Oasis fan. And he's a friend of mine.
"The first autograph I ever signed on American soil was for Lars. I didn't even know it was him. He said, could you make it out to Lars Ulrich and I wasn't looking at him. I said, what the drummer from Metallica? And he went yeah. And I looked and there he was. I was just like, god.
"I love Lars. I speak to him irregularly quite often. He asked me to perform at his wedding. I declined that - that was a bit weird. But he's a good lad Lars."
Lars has always been fulsome in his praise for Noel - who was in Oasis with his brother Liam Gallagher before quitting the group in 2009 - and his talents as a songwriter.
The 'Enter Sandman' rocker previously revealed Oasis has been the "soundtrack" to his life.
Lars said: "Oasis has been the soundtrack to my life for the last 20-plus years on this wonderful planet. 'I have stories and pictures in my mind that go along with everything, from the first time I heard particular songs and read certain articles, to hearing about the band's shenanigans and festivities.''

Louise Mensch, the former Conservative politician, has claimed that he she once dated Noel Gallagher.
Mensch, who was Tory MP for Corby from 2010 to 2012, recently made the claims in a Twitter post, telling one of her followers: "It['s] probably going to kill you when I tell you I went out with Noel for a couple of months".
Before becoming a MP, Mensch (previously Louise Bagshawe) worked in the music industry as a PR and in marketing. She is currently married to Metallica and Muse's manager Peter Mensch.
Mensch joined the Labour Party in 1996 before rejoining the Tories a year later. In a recent tweet, she appeared to suggest that Oasis guitarist Gallagher was an influence on her brief shift of allegiance.
Noel Gallagher famously backed Tony Blair ahead of the 1997 General Election, later saying: "It was a great time in history. The grip of Thatcherism was being smashed. New Labour had been brilliant in opposition. When Tony Blair spoke, his words seemed to speak to people, young people. Oasis: the band that changed our lives – by Lars Ulrich and Felix White The Metallica drummer and Maccabees guitarist remember coming across Oasis 20 years ago – and how it altered their perceptions of music
In 1994 I was browsing through an issue of a magazine called Select, and there was a story about a band from England, with some unusual looking fellows, that I’d never heard of. I skimmed across the article, and was quite amused by the fact that every other word was either “fuck” or “cunt”. There was a pretty detailed description of a conversation between one of the guys in the band, Noel Gallagher, and Paul Weller, that was particularly off-colour and very, very funny. It reeked of attitude and not giving a fuck, which at the time – at the height of the shoegazing-I-can’t-handle-being-a-rockstar attitudes that were becoming mainstream – was very refreshing.
A few weeks later I was driving in my car, listening to radio station Live 105 here in San Francisco, when a song came on unlike any I had ever heard before. The attitude, the aloofness, and the not-giving-a-fuck vibes were pouring out of the speakers, and by the time the first verse/bridge/chorus cycle was done, I was convinced that whatever I was listening to had to be that band that I had read about in Select a few weeks back. And sure enough I was right. It was Oasis and the Supersonic single. Thus began a long and very rewarding relationship with a sound, an approach and a way of looking at the world that has had a huge impact on me and helped shape who I am today … for whatever that’s worth.

Metallica‘s legendary days of hard partying are long over, but some habits die harder than others, and for drummer Lars Ulrich, cocaine use continued to linger well into the 21st century. In fact, as he recently shared during an interview with the UK’s Daily Mirror, he didn’t give up the drug until Oasis co-founder Noel Gallagher inadvertently inspired him to set it aside 10 years ago.
“In the early days, I’d always get drunk way faster than the other guys,” Ulrich explained. “I realized that if there was a little bit of cocaine involved I could stay up longer, instead of ending up face down in the corner passed out three hours before the party ended. I loved the social elements of cocaine. I loved the danger of it. Then about 10 years ago, I read an interview with Noel Gallagher, in which he said: ‘I just stopped doing cocaine.’ I thought that was really cool: it felt so fresh, so honest, so pure — I love that side of him. I’ve never had an addictive personality, so I woke up one day and said: ‘Enough.’”
Unlike a lot of people who’ve walked away from substance abuse, Ulrich still finds himself able to indulge occasionally. His party diet has changed, however; as he told the Mirror, he planned on unwinding after Metallica’s recent Glastonbury gig with a glass of bubbly. “A glass of champagne, that’s probably what I’ll have,” he nodded. “Before the gig we’ll be like a sports team backstage doing all our stretching. We won’t be shooting tequilas. But afterwards, yes, I’ll have a drink. Champagne — maybe tequila, vodka. I like clear drinks; I don’t really do beer.”
Ulrich went on to describe his current domestic existence, which includes making lunch for his kids, driving them around after school, and squeezing in his Metallica responsibilities during the daytime hours. Cholesterol problems have driven meat from his diet — “I live and breathe hummus” — and although he still enjoys a bit of alcohol every now and then, he says it’s much more of an occasional thing these days. “If I have anything to drink at home, it’s maybe only once every week or two, and it’s always after the kids have gone to sleep,” he explained. “I don’t like to drink around them.”

Readers have been voting for the artists they would most like to see top the bill at next year's event following this year's festival, which brought performances from Arcade Fire, Metallica and Kasabian.
Despite the fact that Oasis are technically not together at the moment, the constant rumours about Noel and Liam Gallagher's reunion are clearly giving fans hope that a performance on the Pyramid Stage could be a possibility.
Closely following the Manchester band on the list of acts who NME.com users would like to play next year is David Bowie while Foo Fighters, Muse and Fleetwood Mac all ranked highly.
On Sunday morning (June 29), Glastonbury founder Eavis revealed that three headliners have already been booked for next year's festival – and they don't include the long-rumoured Prince.
"We've got three headliners already – and that's without Prince. We've got some good headliners.
We had an agent [for a band] yesterday on the platform by the stage watching Metallica with me, saying, 'My band want to do it next year'.
I can't tell you who it was but that was done on the platform watching Metallica. Is it a British artist? He's definitely British, but the band are not British any more."
Iron Maiden have emerged as bookmaker William Hill's front-runners to headline Glastonbury 2015.
Following Metallica's warm reception at the festival, the bookmaker has slashed Iron Maiden's odds of performing next year to 7/1.
Among the other acts with good odds are Kate Bush (8/1), whose first live dates in 35 years recently sold out, Oasis (8/1), Coldplay (10/1), Noel Gallagher (10/1) and U2 (10/1).

This is only adding fuel to an already strong fire regarding the band being one of the main headliners at the popular musical festival. n a recent interview with The Guardian, Metallica's Lars Ulrich spoke about their headlining performance and that they might have to perform their own cover of the rock 'n' roll classic.
When asked about the groups reaction to suggestions that a metal headliner won't work at Glatsonbury, Ulrich referenced Jay Z's 2008 performance when Noel Gallagher claimed that wouldn't work as a headlining performance.

Metallica have admitted that they are fans of Justin Bieber after the pop star was filmed covering their song 'Fade To Black' at a recent concert.
Video footage of Bieber performing an impromptu acoustic cover of the song was revealed earlier this year. In the 15-second clip, Bieber is seeing playing air guitar while he tries to recreate the guitar solo from Metallica's 1984 original with his voice. Bieber is accompanied by his musical director Dan Kanter on guitar.
Asked by Kerrang! how they feel about having Bieber as a fan, James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich said they were happy with Hetfield stating: "Are we Beliebers? Yes."
Elaborating on the subject of Bieber, Ulrich adds: "Is it possible to have respect for him without being a Belieber? I think the kid's really talented and obviously to go through what he's going through at that early age must be a mindfuck. So the fact that he still goes out there and does it, I admire that and I think he's super talented, so I guess I am kind of a Belieber. If he likes 'One', and Liam Gallagher likes him, OK, there you go."
Bieber has previously revealed that he is a big fan of early Metallica, singling out 'Fade To Black' and 1988's 'One' as his favourite tracks. "Those are my jams," he told GQ last year (2012).

The drummer also spoke about Mission To Lars, a new documentary film which follows Metallica fan Tom Spicer as he tries to meet Ulrich, who is his musical hero.

He added: "I'm certainly not sure he'd ever want to pick me, but I'd put together a pretty solid groove thing back there. I'd make the songs bounce to the best of my ability. Although I'm not sure he'd take me quite seriously."
The drummer also spoke about Mission To Lars, a new documentary film which follows Metallica fan Tom Spicer as he tries to meet Ulrich, who is his musical hero.

Noel Gallagher was in especially lively spirits at U2's concert after-party in London, messing around with Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich and climbing on the shoulders of a pal.
Looking more than a little tipsy, the Oasis lord couldn't stop flashing peace signs and giggling as he left the Home House several feet higher than when he'd arrived.
He found a partner in crime for the night in heavy metaller Lars as Bono and co kept a low profile as they kicked back following their two Wembley Stadium shows on Friday and Saturday.
With over two months of touring to go, no one could blame them for taking it easy.
