Liam Gallagher On His Fans New And Old, 2017, 2018, Christmas, Australia, Interviews And More

If you’ve followed the recent career trajectory of Liam Gallagher, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d travelled back to the supernova heights of Cool Britannia when the Gallagher brothers’ dust-ups commanded as many headlines as their football terrace anthems.

Just over 12 months ago, the mouthy ex-Oasis frontman was ready to throw in the tambourine, the collective shrug his band Beady Eye received knocking his supersonic confidence.

But now armed with a solo debut, As You Were, Liam’s rocketed back with the third fastest selling album in the UK this year and a sold-out run of arena shows.

Noel Gallagher On Why He Looks A Mess In Oasis' 'Whatever' Video And His Thoughts On Christmas Adverts

Noel Gallagher is a guest on 'Alan Carr's Christmas Chatty Man' and talked about why he looks so messy in the music video for 'Oasis' Whatever' single.

He said “I was very drunk that day, I had been out all night. What I’m wearing, you don’t usually wear that kind of stuff on a video shoot.

“I’d been out the night before to the pub. I woke up in a bus shelter in Maida Vale.”

He continued: “It was before the days of mobile phones and I didn’t know where the video shoot was and I didn’t have any way of getting in touch with anybody.

“Someone from the record label just happened to be passing in a car when I was trying to hail a taxi even though I didn’t know where I was going, but it made for a good video.”

During the same interview he also spoke about Christmas adverts.

“I’m not in to the adverts, apart from the ones where they pay me a shitload of money to have my tunes in. They’re all right.”

Alan Carr’s Chatty Man Christmas Special is being aired on Christmas Day on Channel 4 at 10pm (UK Time).

Alan quizzed Noel about Madonna’s appearance at the birthday party. He asked: “The only other person that was invited but turned up was Madonna. Is that true? Did she gatecrash?”

He replied “She wasn’t invited but we have mutual friends and someone asked if it was OK if she comes. I was like, ‘If she must’. She was there, yeah. She was on good form.”

Noel Gallagher On Why He Loathes Christmas And More

Noel Gallagher is a guest on 'Alan Carr's Christmas Chatty Man' and told the host he loathes Christmas.

He said “I loathe it. I’m named after Christmas by two Irish people. The adverts get on my nerves, like the one with Martin Freeman at the minute. Just nonsense! What has that got to do with Christmas?”

During the interview he also spoke about dancer Anton du Beke and TV presenter Nick Knowles releasing Christmas albums.

“Anton has an album out? That is an outrage. And Nick Knowles? My delivery is better than that. I don’t sound like I’m having a stroke when I’m singing it.”

Alan Carr’s Chatty Man Christmas Special is being aired on Christmas Day on Channel 4 at 10pm (UK Time).

Liam Gallagher On Getting Noel To Join Oasis

After Liam Gallagher joined Oasis he knew they were in need of decent songs, he played on Noel's envy to get him into the fold.

He told BBC Radio 6 “I just knew our kid would be a little bit jealous because he was always writing songs, he’d been in a few little bands, but he never really amounted to much, I just knew if I get him in my band then we’ll be away. And obviously when he started writing the songs, I knew that we’d be big.”

Liam Gallagher On 'The Rain' And 'Oasis'

Liam Gallager has spoke to BBC Radio 6 about joining The Rain he changed the band’s name to Oasis, inspired by the Oasis Leisure centre in Swindon where Noel had recently roadie-ed with Inspiral Carpets.

He said “Obviously they were called The Rain, but before we go any further, we had to stop that name, I was never in Rain, we were in Oasis,” Liam tells Matt. “The day I joined it was Oasis! That was the first time I sang into a mic – it was interesting, I had the confidence... I felt comfortable up there without a doubt. It was like, ‘Right, you brought me the microphone, now bring me the people!’”

Liam Gallagher On The First Album He Bought

Liam Gallagher has spoken to BBC Radio 6 about the first album he bought.

He said “The first band that I ever really got into was the Roses and the first record I bought was probably The Stone Roses [debut album], I know a lot of people will go, ‘Yeah liar! It was Whitney Houston’ or something like that, but it wasn’t,” the singer-songwriter promises. “I think [I first bought] The Stone Roses’ first album. That was round about the first time I was digging music… That album changed my life, it was my blueprint to music…

“The first tune I remember was ‘I Wanna Be Adored’. I think I was still in school and I remember my mate going: ‘You've got to check this band out.’ I thought it was ‘I Wanna Be A Dog’ and obviously I was like, ‘That’s a strange title and that’, but anyway I got into The Roses and that was it. It sent me on my way.”

Liam Gallagher Says Oasis Were Doomed Long Before The Fight In Paris

Liam Gallagher has said that Oasis were doomed long before the fight in Paris that ended the band.

He told BBC Radio 6 Music “I smelt a rat before that [fight], man… I tell you when I smelt a rat, we’d done a gig on that last tour we done,” he claims. “We’d done a gig in Bridlington Spa [on 20 August 2009] and I smelt a little rat there when I overheard a conversation of, ‘Well you know, you got to do it or not, it’s now or never’ kind of thing with Noel and the manager. I’d walked into a room like that and they kind of shut up shop… I might have been paranoid but I thought: ‘He’s going to pull the plug at this last gig and go that’s it’, and obviously we had to do that gig in Paris. I don’t know, I just felt something… You know when you just know? Listen, I can go on forever about this, there is just no way that Oasis broke up after the Paris thing; it was pre-empted. It was planned to do that, you know what I mean? That’s the way I see it…”

Liam said it’s a shame Oasis are no more, and currently there’s no chance of a reunion, he insists fans shouldn’t despair completely.

“[The door] is shut cause we’re not speaking are we at the moment, but at the end of the day I’ve got an album out, he’s got an album out – the Gallagher brothers are doing some good stuff at the moment,” he declares. “If Oasis ain’t happening, the second best thing is two solo albums from us both!”

Liam Gallagher On 'As You Were' Having Some Real Moments Of Repentance

Liam Gallagher has spoken to the AAP that his debut album 'As You Were' had some moments of real repentance.

"The songs that I wrote on there I had to dig deep on them".

"It was an apologetic kind of record but once that's done now I wouldn't want to be going back there next time because you can only say sorry so many times and if people don't get it fuck 'em. Hopefully the next one will be a bit more, like, unapologetic."

"I was saying sorry for maybe lots of things. Fucking up. You know, my kids, I've caused them a lot of pain over the years, me Mam and stuff. Just things like that really," he said.

"There was a bit for four years when I didn't see them (his children) for a bit, which was rightly so ... they were probably hearing lots of stuff. But that's been sorted now so now they're back and they know that I'm not a bad person so it's all good."
