Listen To 'Noel Gallagher's Escape Songs'
Have I got a Take 5 for you. Rock star, human headline, and one of the most iconic songwriters of our time, Noel Gallagher. This is a classic rock n’ roll tale of rags to riches; the story of a young lad from Manchester who dreamed of being a star and got it all and more. Oasis burst into the mid 90’s as Cool Britannia exploded all over the world. With his brother as lead singer, and with a knack for writing anthemic indie hits, Noel led the band to record breaking gigs, sold millions of albums, and had some very public family bust ups.
At his heart, Noel’s a fan. A kid who idolised the songs on the record player and worshipped those who wrote them. And you’ll hear this throughout Noel’s Take 5. His theme was escape, and growing up in a council estate in the North, music was Noel’s escape. He’d be transported by older kids records, and dance till dawn at the infamous Hacienda nightclub. But even as his fame grew and he moved to big houses in the leafy parts of London, that wish for music to whisk him away remained. You can hear, through this epic chat, what a grounding and balancing force these songs have had in his life. I’ve seen a lot of chats with Noel over the years, and in his studio that day it felt different. His shoulders relaxed, he was in reflective mode, he was talking about his favourite songs and he came ready to share.
From the Beatles to The Smiths, Air to Burt Bacharach, settle in for this extended and uncut Take 5 with Noel Gallagher.
Pink Floyd – Nobody Home
The Smiths – Asleep
Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass – This Guy’s In Love With You
Air – All I Need
The Beatles – I Am The Walrus
