Oasis

Britpop legends Oasis release their definitive singles collection on Monday featuring a picture from their seminal 1996 Knebworth gigs on the cover.
The Gallagher brothers, Liam and Noel, famously played two nights at the Hertfordshire stately home on August 10 and 11 in 1996 before a quarter of a million people.
And the artwork for new singles album Time Flies... 1994-2009 features a photograph taken during one of those career-defining performances at the legendary rock venue.
A statement on the now disbanded indie giants’ official website said: “There have been so many iconic gigs throughout the history of Oasis.
“From Maine Road, Wembley Stadium (both new and old!), Madison Square Gardens to River Plate Stadium in Argentina, to name a very small handful.
“But we think most people will agree that the most iconic of them all was their record-breaking weekend at Knebworth.
“2.5 million people applied for the available 250,000 tickets for those two sunny days back in August 1996.
“So it’s fitting that the front cover of the sleeve for the upcoming singles collection features a stellar shot of you the fans from those historic gigs at Knebworth.”
Time Flies... 1994-2009 is released on Monday and features 27 tracks spanning the band’s 15-year career from first hit single Supersonic from 1994’s debut album Definitely Maybe to final release Falling Down.
The album contains all eight of Oasis’ UK number one singles, as well as classic tracks such as Live Forever, Whatever, Wonderwall and Cigarettes & Alcohol.

"Shakermaker" is a song by British rock group Oasis, written by their lead guitarist Noel Gallagher. First appearing as a single, released on the 13th June 1994, which peaked at number 11 in the UK charts, it was later released on Oasis' groundbreaking debut album Definitely Maybe. It was also the first song performed by the band on the UK's world famous music program, Top Of The Pops.
Gallagher admits the lyrics are taken from the world around him, for example, a Shaker Maker was a popular toy in the 1970s, the character of "Mr Soft" was taken from a Trebour Soft Mints commercial, which featured Cockney Rebel's song "Mr Soft", "Mr. Clean" is a song by The Jam, one of Gallagher's favourite bands, "Mr Benn" is a British children's cartoon and the entire last verse - Mr Sifter sold me songs/When I was just 16/Now he stops at traffic lights/But only when they're green - was written in a taxi on the way to the recording studio to record the song. Apparently, Liam Gallagher was pestering Noel to finish the song. At this point, the taxi stopped at the traffic lights outside 'Sifter's"' (a record shop in Burnage, Manchester). Noel penned the lyric and it became part of the song. Noel used to frequent the store to buy old records before Oasis started releasing albums and Mr Sifter refers to the owner of the record store.
